I purchased from IK Multimedia directly through Amazon.

I wanted a basic PC setup to record on so I could get a clear recording through direct input rather than picking up sound via camera. Read a lot of review for a lot of different products and for this one as well. Several seemed comparable, none seemed perfect, but a few youTube reviews on this and the majority of the reviews on this were positive so I decided to go for it since I liked how it worked, it's styling, etc. This plugs directly in to your guitar/effect processor on one end and directly in to your USB port on the other. In order to hear what you are playing you have to plug in to the headphone jack on the unit (you can't hear what's coming out from your PC, you plug in a pair of headphones or speakers into the audio out port to listen).

One of the biggest issues in the reviews was of this having issues on Window's machines. I'm running Windows 7. I read the quick install guide, loaded the CD, ran the install, and plugged it in to my PC and guitar. I got static and odd input noise from my guitar, but definately not clean sound.

I went online to the Ik Multimedia website, noticed they had a Windows driver update. Installed the update, unplugged the StealthPlug from my PC, plugged it back in, worked like a charm. So the entire install took me only about 15-20 minutes to get it working.

The CS version means this comes with AmpliTude CS software (CS stands for Custom Shop). It's basically an effects processor for your PC (I also have a Boss GT-8 processor) so if you don't currently have an effects processor/foot pedals/etc then this software has more than enough to get some good effects already built in (delay, distortion, chorus, reverb, different amps, different heads, etc). Plus you get credits for the AmpliTude website to get a couple of extra ones of your choosing (if you want more effects after you use your free credits you can purchase more credits for more effects to download).

The packaging on this says it comes with AmpliTude 2.0 but after I installed and registered the StealthPlug on Ik Multimedia's website, it actually gave me the most recent version of Amplitude plus a few other of their effects software packages so that was nice that I didn't get stuck with outdated software.

All-in-all it plugged in and set up with very little hassle. Seems to be a decent direct guitar to PC setup on a budget and comes with some cool effects software which is great if you're someone that doesn't have a lot of pedals or an actual physical processor.

Now all you need is some recording software (I'm going to try Reaper) and you'll be making videos in no time.

UPDATE: I've used this interface for a few months now, and it's still working extremely well. Just today, I hooked up my guitar to Input 1 going into Guitar Rig and outputting that to Out 1/2. Then I routed Out 1/2 to Ins 3/4 and into Ableton Live, then Ableton Live outputting on Output 3/4 connected to my monitors so basically I routed Guitar Rig into Ableton Live:

Guitar --> In1 --> Guitar Rig --> Out 1/2 --> In 3/4 --> Ableton Live --> Out 3/4 --> Monitors

This way everything is seamlessly integrated and I can process the signal in either Guitar Rig or Ableton Live or both! I'm happy to say I've noticed no latency issues even though the signal is being processed twice, and it's awesome to have so many ins/outs to play with.

The BIG Main Volume knob is nothing short of a necessity for me now. It's so convenient to have the master volume control as the biggest knob in reach, it's intuitive. The lighting on top is really prominent and is the icing on the cake. Again, it's very intuitive and tells you the status of pretty much every input and output at a glance.

The headphone input is very well done. Being able to switch between cue and monitor volumes with the button is extremely handy, although I think the location of the headphone volume knob and the headphone signal switch should have been switched.

Other than that, the only thing and the best thing I can say about it is that when I'm playing through it, it becomes invisible, in that I don't notice an "interface" in between my instrument and the sound. It feels like I'm feeding the audio directly into the monitors. And that's what a good audio interface should do be as less intrusive as possible without compromising audio quality or latency.

A little background:

After hunting for a few weeks for a good interface, I came up with a list of requirements that I was looking for in an interface a good recording interface that also allows for DJ-ing features like cuing using multiple pairs of outputs (these requirements were constantly changing because I was discovering newer products):

1. Must have 4 balanced outputs (two for my studio monitors and two for my headphones)

2. Must have a dedicated headphone jack with volume control (so I can control the headphone volume directly without having to fiddle around with software)

3. Must have monitor volume control (this was a given in most interfaces)

4. Must have a direct monitor (aka zero-latency monitoring) feature to judge the latency introduced by software

5. Should be able to route at least one pair of outputs (ex: 3/4) to the headphone jack (this was surprisingly hard to find most interfaces had headphone jacks that would just combine all the outputs into one line, therefore allowing no ability to cue from your DAW, since you need a dedicated pair of headphone outputs in the software for cuing this was necessary to me because I wanted to DJ as well as record)

6. There should be no noticeable latency (

First, this is not your typical cello. It's a 300 electric cello. Please keep this in mind.

It works, it sounds alright, and it's definitely great for practice. Style 5 is quite nice looking. But the style doesn't actually affect the sounds, so choose whichever you like.

To get this playing, you plug in a headphone into one jack. There's another for aux output, great for tuning if you have an electric tuner with an input.

There's two control knobs, one for volume and one for tone/timbre. They function and the tone is a nice add to get the sound you like.

Here's a few details to keep in mind:

1) It is not silent. It just doesn't project. My boyfriend says that he can hardly hear in the next room over with the door closed; but it is definitely not silent (i.e., you can actually practice without the headphones)

2) The stuff that comes with: bow, rosin, headphone... wish they would they would just keep them and knock of another $10...that's pretty much what they are worth. The bow was not useable since it came warped. The headphone was not comfortable (I just use a earphone set), and the rosin was not useful. The only thing I kept was padded bag. Not going to spend another $200 for a hard case.

3) The strings, tailpiece, fine tuners, fitting, everything, are pretty cheap, as expected. It's really up to you whether you want the spend some money to upgrade these. but if you want something decent, keep those cost in mind.

Summary: A great base product that does what it should. If you want something decent, you might need to add some cost to get a bow, rosin, a nice headphone set, some new strings (at a minimum), and maybe some other fitting/accessories.

I play the guitar.

That being said, I've always loved bowed strings, and really wanted to try it.

Well, this was my chance.

Do I regret it? Not yet.

Honestly, I am able to get some very decent sounds out of this instrument, especially running it through my PC recording software to tweak the sound.

The A string snapped on the second tune up. So that's pretty sweet. I guess people aren't kidding when they say you'll need new string for this at least. You will, because these cheap steel ones will break. These strings feel like something off a construction site when I compare them to playing my guitar strings. But maybe that's how cello strings are? I guess I'll find out after I plunk down $100 for a set of strings! That would make any guitarists stomach turn.

Anyways, you get what you pay for. I'm glad they're making this product available because it has allowed me to try something I never would have otherwise. Hopefully I'm able to get it setup well enough that I actually enjoy making music with it and can add it to my musical recording arsenal.

Great for beginners. Is not totally silent when played without an amp but is not loud enough to annoy the entire house. I recommend getting a new set of strings after becoming familiar with the instrument, the A string has a poor tonal quality. A tip for other beginners: Use small pieces of tape along the side of the neck to mark off notes with the help of a tuner. Also dont give up, its not an easy instrument to play but don't get frustrated and give up. Like any instrument, patience and practice are key. Beautiful and well worth the money.

Perhaps this review will score a bit higher due to the fact that when I bought this Cello I saw it as a base to build upon (new pick ups, gear tuners, etc.) This Cello is great as a starter and when the installations I make on it are done I'll have an instrument as good as a Yamaha for much, much less.

However. As it stands this instrument is a far cry from the Yamahas.

Pros: The pick up that comes on it is located directly under the bridge of the instrument which makes sense since the bridge transmits most of the sound to the body. It's a decent pick up (in regards to sound, but I cant speak for it's durability) It will connect to most guitar amps and sounds rather well.

The wood body catches vibration from the string very well (very important in regards to additional pickups) and provides very good sustain for plucking on low to medium pitch notes. The sound the instrument emits is a bit metallic but it warmed up when I changed the strings to nylon. It's also very light weight, I can lift it easily with one arm.

Cons: The only things that are bad are the things that it comes with. The strings are cheap, and they are cheaply made. The actual steel core on them is thin and they just thickened it by winding copper around it before the plating. All four can snap with ease. The bow is slightly warped but is playable, I'm switching to a carbon fiber one regardless. The rosin is not very good. The headphones are just headphones and the uncomfortable kind (I didn't buy it for the headphones) The bag is actually useful.

Beautiful cleans and crunchy overdrive reminiscent of much more expensive Orange tube amps. Even at just 12 watts it is loud enough to let the neighbors know you are a guitar god. The 6" speaker will give you some nice tones, but doesn't have the trouser-flapping abilities of some of the larger speakers. Perfectly suited for a practice environment.

Lovingly assembled by factory workers in China, the materials feel like some of the more expensive Orange models.

My only complaint is that the three-way EQ doesn't seem very dymanic. I'm still happy with it and can get sounds worth recording. Five stars.

I've had the amp for about two weeks now and have thoroughly enjoyed practicing and playing around with it.

Build/QualityWhile the side of the box says "Made in the PRC" it hardly qualifies as a "cheap product". The amp is made of wood construction and feels really solid. The knobs on the top respond great. I've moved the amp around pretty often and have a bad habit of resting my feet on top of it while playing and it never feels like its going to fall apart. Plus, who can't say the orange exterior doesn't stand out, it looks great!

SoundI was looking around at getting a cheap modeling amp like the Fender Mustang I but after playing with it I ultimately decided that I didn't really like the pre-made sounds and even though the software allowed me to 'create' sounds it just didn't sound right. This amp has a total of 6 knobs and I've been able to make a really nice clean sound as well as a crunchy distortion; even my distortion friendly ESP has a nice clean tone. Not having these sounds pre-made has really allowed me to experiment and discover how this amp can sound as well as how my guitar really sounds. I haven't had the desire to hook up any pedals as I've pretty much been able to create anything I need with what the amp gives. This amp has enough volume that it will still bug the neighbors at its full volume but might get washed out in anything larger than a small practice session.

OverallSuch a great value with a solid sound. The only thing I wish this had was an AUX IN, tuner or 1/4" headphone jack like on the more expensive models but for the price you can't beat the quality you get here. Highly recommend as a simple and great sounding bedroom/practice amp with none of those crappy modeled effects to mess with!

This amp I don't believe was designed to play in a live environment, but if you aren't planning on that this amp is a real gem. I have a full size tube amp that I use to play live but was not enjoying lugging it around to lessons or for practicing at home with a jam track.

I was pleasantly surprised by the tone even considering it is coming out or a 6" speaker. Very nice, round tone, full bottom end. I was also surprised by the 3 EQ Settings, Volume, Overdrive and Gain settings. So you can play with overdrive and gain while controlling the master volume which is very nice on a model like this. It does have plenty of power but can 'tone down' very nicely without stomping all over the tone.

Bringing this to lessons has been wonderful. Light and all in about an 8 inch box with a handle for under $100. I have been able to directly connect and really haven't had the urge to use any stomp boxes so far. The tone has been great.

I got this amp today, and out of box it sounded great, but once I played around with the controls, I got it to sound absolutely amazing.
