I cannot begin to say what a pleasure this amp is to play. The clean sound is what I play primarily and thus, the 4 star rating. It sounds great clean yet the fiddling around with the menu to get presets that are suitable for jazz and the like take time. No big deal with time issues if you're one well versed with digital menus. For dudes like me (perhaps many) this is a fine piece of workmanship with the built in tuner and all, but I just want to turn on the tube sounding warmth of an old TWIN or VOX and play mellow. Again, if one is inclined, mellow sounds will come out of this superlative amp and I am only thinking of selling mine because I just need less power and less menu stuff.

Like amateur radio, many of the new gear out is menu driven versus simplicity. I am hardly one who does not like to tinker, but when tinkering is all one is doing an playing your instrument takes second seat, there is a slight problem. So, this is based on my ineptitude rather than the amplifier's capabilities and build.

A four out of five is very good given my admission to menu driven gear as a weakness on my part.

You'll love it if you love reading manuals or have much time to tinker. Overall, the amp is superb. PERIOD.

This amp is defiantly a keeper. wonderful sound out of a solid state amp. i could go on and on about how amazing it is but youll find that out on your own if you get the amp so instead ill start with the cons. there's not a lot but some worth knowing.

first, this amp is pretty hefty. Line 6 couldve given you a bit more then a single handle to haul this thing around. perhaps some handle bars on the left and right side of the amp would be more efficient.

Next, the interface could be a little more user friendly. I figured it out on my own but i can imagine some people would really struggle to grasp how to function it. not a huge deal but still...

Thats about all the cons i can really think of at the moment. I just bought it so ill have to see if it stands the test of time. But i couldnt be happier right now. It even has very accurate built in tuner. Also the song presets are simply a blast. I spent about an hour scrolling through all of them saying things like "hey! johnny b good! i love that song! oh cool gimme shelter by the stones!!" and they all sound very accurate to the studio recordings they are mimicking.

If your looking for an amp thatll cover any live performance just short of a giant professional show involving a crowd of thousands of people then thisll will do the trick. (if your playing for that many people then you can afford a bigger amp anyway.) This amp will drown out a drummer if you get the 120wt version that i have.

In terms of price this just cant be beat either. 120 wts and i got it used for 300$. thats simply an amazing deal with all the awesome gadgets you get with this.

One last note though, I highly recommend getting the footpedal with it. this way you can use the loopinig feature, tuner, and presets without having to stoop down and change the settings by hand. especially the looping feature. in fact there's no way to really use the looping feature without the pedal so go for the footpedal and you'll thank yourself.

Once again... get this amp!

I've worked on every sort of mixer you can imagine from full Mackie consoles to Allen & Heath Xone series to Pioneer DJM series to Rane rotary mixers. As a dj I've used the cheapest in the industry and the best you work with what you have in front of you at the party. Some mixers can provide a miserable experience (ahem low end numark hate the eq, the phone levels are always low.) So I didn't expect much from this mixer but Gemini come correct for the price point. Provided excellent sound to my setup. Phono preamp is CLEAN! This is the primary reason I bought the mixer to use for sampling into Maschine / MPC. The output level is not as loud as I would have hoped but it's clean and acceptable for the price. Crossfader is more fun than I thought it would be. Only 2 bands of EQ but they have a nice sound and again I don't expect 3 band EQ for this price. What I needed this mixer to be was sturdy, clean sounding and utilitarian in my setup. It's working perfectly and the sound is transparent. Recommended.

This is a bit overpriced for what it is. It is very simple and does not have a lot of functions like crossfader reverse and slope adjustment. If small size is critical, it's fine. Power switch is in back and headphone jack is in front, so you pretty much have to use it on a tabletop. I was not able to find a replacement crossfader.

i use this mixer to control the mic volume and the volume from my laptop that i dj with. no real surprise but and excellent simple mixer for the low price. has good quality upfaders and crossfaders and good phono inputs. i only need it to control mic volume so i wish i could use all the features and i'm sure for this price you wont get better from other makes like pyle. buy this and have no problem.

I got this little interface to go in my bag with my Macbook Air. Tiny laptop, tiny interface. See?

Pros:

it's tiny

it's built like a tank

there's very little noise

latency is very low

overall sound quality is excellent with my guitar or my dynamic mics.

Cons:

it's not Core Audio compliant you'll have to install drivers on your Mac.

there's no 48v so you're stuck with dynamic mics. Not that there aren't good ones, it's just a limitation

Very light (because it's tiny) and the weight of your guitar/mic cable can and will pull it off the desk. I'm considering affixing a few oz of lead inside the case :D

All in all, if you're looking for a very portable audio interface particularly for guitar input this one is awesome. If you can take a little more bulk, I'd recommend the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (which, unfortunately, wasn't available when I bought this one).

This is my 3rd VOX Amplug I have purchased through Amazon. They are all awesome in thier own way. The Satriani Amplug has very nice effects similar to a flanger and delay with reverb. Without the effects on it is similar to the Lead plug with much lighter distortion still has nice crunch to it though. If you are a Satch fan you will find this amplug endlessly entertaining! If you could only buy just one, this one may not be for you depending on what style music you like to play. I love metal, rock, classic rock etc.

The first song I played through this plug was 'The Star Spangled Banner' (ala Jimmi Hendrix) and wow, the Satch effects just make it sound amazing! The Top Gun anthem sounds wicked with this plug as well.

If you are looking for a pure distorted metal sound go for the Metal Amplug it rocks your face off(I LOVE MINE). The AC30 Amplug is real nice for classic rock and country (it is nice and clean but can go into AC/DC tones) very versatile Amplug.

The Satch Amplug is a welcome addition to my collection...I would tell you to buy it, and if I lost mine I would replace it immediately. Same with the Metal Amplug. If I lost my AC30 Amplug I would wait for it to go on sale or something and pick up another as versatile as it is, I don't play enough classic rock or country as I do metal.

I've been playing guitar for 40 years and have probably used every box,gizmo, and effect that exists. Heck, I own an original Univibe that still works. I am quite critical of everything I plug my guitars into. My style usually requires a heavy, sustained, screaming sound. This AmPlug delivers. I have many amps so I needed something for when I am just hanging out in the backyard chilling, working on riffs for my next recorded piece or just shredding away from my amps. I was really pleased with this and the amount of distortion, sustain and "satch"uration I could get out of it. Plus the variation in tone you could get was really nice using the tone nob. With my Jackson Dinky XL it had no limits. Switching to my 73 strat also gave some incredible,classic ripping strat sounds. It's not for clean playing. Even with the gain dialed down you will get warm distortion. As far as ergonomics, if you're "chillin" on a lounge chair out back or probably sitting in any chair you'll do better with a front loaded input (strat)instead of a bottom loaded input. Plugging this into the bottom of a guitar while sitting will lead to much squirming in the chair to avoid hitting the plug with whatever you are sitting on. It does get in the way. By the way, the setting with the delay is so "Joe-like" you won't believe it. I gotta give this 5 stars!!!

For those unfamiliar with Vox's amPlug products, these things are amazing. I'm just old enough to remember some of the portable options of the 1990's, and they were mostly terrible. What Vox has done with these tiny headphone amplifiers (which weigh virtually nothing, run for 10-15 hours on 2 AAA batteries, and plug directly into the guitar) is nothing short of amazing. They have incredible amp-like tone and get as loud as you can possibly want. Even through a pair of $20 Sony headphones, they sound amazing. The star of the collection, in my opinion, is the Vox AC30 amPlug, which does a great vintage tube amp ranging from sparkling cleans to Top Boost overdrive. If you haven't played an amPlug before, the AC30 one is $39.99 of the best money you'll ever spend.

Now, getting to this specific Joe Satriani amPlug, it's impossible to talk about the tone without talking about the guitarist himself. Fans of Joe Satriani (even casual ones) will recognize elements of this sound right away. Satriani has a very distinctive sound, which he crafted over the years using a modified Boss DS-1 Distortion and (more recently) his Vox "Satchurator" Distortion Box. It's a thick lead tone with a nice sustain, and colored with a delay effect. Both of those elements are present on this signature amPlug. You have a level control, a gain control, and a tone control. There's also three switch positions: Off, On, and Fx. The "Fx" position engages the delay effect, but the tone is otherwise the same.

PROS:

First, the price retails at $49.99, whereas most of the other models are $39.99. (I believe the Lead amPlug is also $49.99 and also has a delay feature). I think that the added delay feature and unique tone are worth the extra money, but this is admittedly a sort of "niche" product. Overall, however, you have several amPlugs to choose from, and if you choose this one, $49.99 is still an incredible value for the ability to play your guitar virtually anywhere and enjoy quality tone. The tone has a real sweet spot between "3" and "5" that really makes it enjoyable to play lead notes. While it isn't necessarily and "ideal" rhythm guitar distortion, you can hit rich chords with nice sustain. I prefer the tone on the higher gain levels, and you can really crank it up if you want to, but it sounds great at lower volumes too. The delay is also surprisingly good it's probably set to around the 400 milisecond gap, which is pretty standard. Adds a cool echo "fullness" to your solo progressions, much like a classic Satriani solo. Again, the overall tone is fantastic. With the amount of gain provided, you can play most types of rock and dabble into metal guitar a bit (though I've always thought of Satch of more a technical, melodic guitarist than a "metal" guitarist).

CONS:

There are a few things to know about the Satriani signature model, but I don't think any of them should discourage you from checking it out. While the delay is surprisingly good, you can't customize it. You can't make the repeats shorter or longer, and you can't adjust the timing of the repeats. Keep in mind that this is mostly a "practice" device for your personal use, however, and I still enjoy using the delay. As for the tone, which I mostly discussed as a "pro" in the paragraph above, you should be aware that this is not meant to be a "clean" signal. It is possible to get a somewhat clean tone by rolling back on the gain or lowering the volume of your guitar, but it's mostly distortion or bust. The durability of all of the amPlugs has also been questioned by some. The device is VERY lightweight and all plastic, except for the metal plug portion. I don't doubt that you could bang it on something and break it quite easily. The switches and dials may also fail over time. But frankly, at $40 or $50, it's probably a better value than making it out of heavy duty metal and charging $100 for it, which would lock more people out of the market. I would certainly buy another one (or several) if any of mine broke. Finally, there as an audible "hiss" noise through your headphones anytime the device is on. Slightly annoying when you're not playing, but I don't notice it at all once I start playing notes.

THE VERDICT:

One other "dirty little secret" to point out about these things: in addition to the Aux jack, which allows you to plug in an MP3 player and jam along, it is possible to use a 1/8" to 1/4" adapter and audio cable to plug this thing directly into an amp, PA, or anything with speakers. You might be surprised how good it sounds.

As an after-note, I wrote most of this review playing on my Jackson DR6, which has two Seymour Duncan Humbuckers, and it sounded great. I later tried it on a Gibson Les Paul (which is usually my primary guitar), and despite the fact it also has two humbuckers, it did not sound as good. The distortion was much more "fizzy". Haven't tried it with single coil pickups, but I think that it would likely work well with a Strat-type guitar due to the overall "roundness" of the tone.

The amPlug is a great invention that allows so many players to log endless hours practicing, irrespective of their budget or living situation. The Satriani model brings its own special character to the series, and if you like the tone as much as I do, might become an instant favorite.

When I tried the Joe Satriani version I was blown away, such great sound from such a little device and so handy and easy to use! I needed to boost the output of my combo Android mp3 player and Yamaha drum set as well as try to get the maximum from some Senheiser 650s both in volume and frequency response without distortion. I tried a $50 ART HeadAmp4 Four Channel Headphone Amplifier. Got bass distortion never heard with the unamped system before. Decided to sink some real $$ into the project (but really $170 isn't high for an amp with equalizers, that can also handle 12 sets of headphones). This thing is a Gift from the Gods. Some reviewers say you can't get good sound quality from mp3-s and you have to convert your whole music library to lossless. Bull. I'll say it again that's NOT TRUE.

Although I admit I'm using a very good Android tablet-based mp3 with excellent sound Crystallizer and Expander, I am hearing music and my drums like never before. The sound is RIGHT. I hear lyrics and lead guitar licks in songs I never heard before.

Using the Senheiser 650s doesn't hurt (trying this system with (burned in) AKG Q 701 Quincy Jones Signature Reference-Class Headphones ($250) was far less sonically precise and deep but the center of this system, the Samson S Phone 4 Channel Headphone Amplifier 12 Outputs is a miracle. I would pay double for what it gives me in 1: Volume range, 2: Bass depth and control, and 3: Treble pristine treble. I now hear one of my Yamahama crash cymbals that previously was completely negligible. My ride sounds crisp and clear. My snare is right in front, where I want it, and the bass and tom toms resonate with tremendous deep tones. I now hear my full drum set AND hear the source music like never before.

I can drive this headphone amp in volume or bass or treble to extremes that would hurt my ears and distort the music. I barely use 15% of its adjustment capacity. But for some older CDs converted to mp3s, the range is there to get the sound just right.

If you're a drummer and looking to really hear what the manuf produced, you must get a decent headphone amp. The Samson S Phone 4 Channel Headphone Amplifier 12 Outputs is a BMW. I now look forward to and get into my practice sessions like a crazy young kid.

Obviously I can't say enough about the Samson S Phone 4 Channel Headphone Amplifier 12 Outputs. It has changed my world. I DARE any other headphone amp priced under $400 to try to touch it.

This review will be simple, as most reviews are positive, as I think they should be. It's a fine unit for recording bands. I just want to make audio guys/pros/semipros aware that there is serious crosstalk between channels on my unit, so it would not be in the least bit useful for controlling multiple projects/rooms/speakers at the same time.

For example, when using the front aux inputs, you can have a separate stereo feed running into each of the 4 amps, combined with the main feed from the rear. If, for instance, you wanted 3 different users to be hearing only themselves and the main feed, this unit would be trash...they would be distracted by hearing the other user signals in the mix via crosstalk. Serious design flaw.

For bands or studio monitoring where there is only one mix happening at once, it works just fine, as the difference in db is, at my guess, around 20-25db difference, and masking will make the crosstalk effect negligible.

Also beware that you have to run a stereo feed into the front aux port or you will only get sound in the left phone.

Great unit for the price. I also highly recommend the OSP HPA-400 (recently rebranded) found on ebay for $100 if you have a cuemix setup to run prior to the amp and you are on a budget.

For anyone who requires to play guitar silently, or requires an amp backup when your amp fizzles out on stage, the Carl Martin "Rock Bug" Amp Simulator does the job well.

There are three inputs for the Rock Bug, two RCA L/R line level jack inputs for using with an external mp3 or CD device, and one unbalanced 1/4" jack input for guitar. The outputs of the Rock Bug are a 1/4" unbalanced jack output, and a balanced female XLR output for sending signal to a mixer or other recording device.

The two control knobs, 'Master' and 'Guitar' are used for balancing RCA input and guitar signal, as well as providing overall headroom for sending signal to a mixer or external recording device.

The Rock Bug is best used with a pre-amped monaural guitar signal, such as placed through an effects pedalboard, for best operation and sound quality. Carl Martin has indicated on its website that the Rock Bug will sound good without the guitar signal being pre-amped, but this is debatable. An effects board which was tested included a guitar boost and overdrive provided very good sound quality with the Rock Bug, much like a good tube amp would. The circuitry of the Rock Bug simulates the tone of a good tube amp.

The RCA inputs of the Rock Bug cannot be used to receive a pre-amped amp signal, into the Rock Bug. (This was tried with a Fender Blues Deluxe preamp-out into the RCA inputs; all that was heard through the mixer was loud hiss). The guitar input of the Rock Bug was not tested to receive the preamp-out of the Blues Deluxe.

It is possible to send an external music player through the RCA inputs of the Rock Bug, but if the output of the Rock Bug is intended to play through a mixer, it is also possible to send the music player signal directly into the mixer inputs with a greater degree of flexibility, instead of playing through the Rock Bug inputs.

The purpose of this pedal, the "Swiss Army Knife" of a musician's toolkit, is that if your amp fizzles out on stage, and you don't have spare tubes, fuzes, or needed circuits so that you can repair your amp in a hurry, the Rock Bug can save the gig. Just plug your pedalboard into the Rock Bug, and the output of the Rock Bug into the PA mixer. Set the level on the Rock Bug, and you are back in business.

Another application of the Rock Bug is if you want to play silently through headphones. This can be done by plugging your guitar into your effects board, through the Rock Bug and directly into your headphones (check your headphone impedance before buying the Rock Bug; some headphones will not work with the output of the Rock Bug), or by sending the output of the Rock bug into a mixer, and listening to your headphones from the mixer. If necessary, both the XLR and 1/4" outputs of the Rock Bug can be utilized at the same time, one for headphones at the Rock Bug, the other for recording or PA at a distance.

All said and done, the Rock Bug is a useful tool for a musician who would need a backup amp if his amp failed on stage. The Rock Bug is excellent insurance against such problems, and is recommended for any gigging musician who doesn't carry two stage amplifiers with him at all times.

Rock Bug has a very nice clean tone better than anything I ever heard thru P.Ds.

For me it will serve several purposes:

1. recording on computer hook my pedal board in and XLR into audio interface;

2. backup amp for gigs;

3. no need to haul my amp in if we rehearse where PA is available (I normally use clean jazz am so I am not losing all that much);

4. I can now easily mix in output from guitar synth (using RCA input on Rock Bug) and run both guitar and synth thru same keyboard/acoustic amp;

5. when traveling I can take Rock Bug, XLR cable and maybe fav dirt pedal and show up for open mic and have a decent chance to play;

6. in a hotel that is all you need to practice (well ok... headphones or speaker and iPod thru RCA input).

Very well made and very quiet.

Yes you don't get EQ and reverb but honestly sound is so good you barely miss them (first time I plug in my guitar and headphones I played 30 mins did not want to stop...).

soon as i receve it i plug it, and it was awsome ... i mean, i dont need more than this pedal for late home musical recording. it really sound like a real amp. i plug it at the end of my 10 pedal chain, and it work perfect. worth every dollar. I does not replace a real amp, but it will be very helpful for making demos in-house.
