IMOHO:

This midi device is one miraculous chunk of plastic that can do amazing things. I needed a midi guitar device that could plug directly into my USB computer port and help me compose directly into Guitar Pro 6 Software. The YouRock Gen2 does it. I wanted to hear the notes as I input them into the computer. There was an auxilary 1/8" jack that can plug directly into my little HoneyTone practice amp. I wasn't interested in any of the fancy sound effects or synthesizer effects. The YouRock Gen2 does all that and more but you can turn it all off and just get a relatively clean steel, folk or nylon string guitar sound. Nirvana. Feel like Jammin? There are many built in tracks to Jam with. Wail away. Its in there. Like creating your own sounds? No problem. You can save up to 99 presets in both guitar modes and synthesizer modes.

This gadget is the best musical midi bang for the buck money can buy.

I fired it up running its own internal sounds (which should be optimized for performance) and it was the same old YouRock story: brutal glitching, no ability to hammer-on integrated with normal picking, missing notes, you name it. This is yet another cheap, crappy, useless toy masquerading as an actual tool for musicians. If you want to control midi on the cheap, check out either the new Jamorigin direct to midi software (no hex pickup needed) or the new Fishman Triple Play which is getting quite a buzz (won't be out until Feb but check the NAMM Show vids next week on it).

Like most DJs I have been using the sc-8 wired version. Finally American DJ came out with a remote controlled wireless version! I love this unit. It saves me set up time because I don't have to run a 50' cable to my booth and place the switch panel there. Now I set up my stand and lights, plug them in and I'm done. The power pack feels solid. It's a little thicker than the wired version pack. It has eight electric plugs, one 1/4" UC3 jack to control 1 American DJ light (more if daisy chained), and a circuit breaker. You can plug in eight lights and turn them on and off with the remote. No flash button, just on and off. Also the UC3 control is great. I have two of the American DJ Mega Pixel LED lights so I plug in the UC3 control to the "Master" light and run a XLR cable to the second light to link them together. The remote also has the the three buttons to control any UC3 light, just like the wired UC3 remote except there is not a flashing light on the remote to show what mode you are in. It reacts fast and works through walls at a distance.I put a clamp on it to hold it to the light stand.

The remote is small and takes an 23A battery. Push the buttons firmly and it works every time.

It has an all on and all off button you hold for 5 seconds. This is 16 amps and will handle all your LED lights great. I love this and will never go back to a wired lighting controller. Good product!

After receiving the unit (which was very carefully packed), I attached the antennae and loaded the enclosed battery into the remote control.

I did a simple test with two light fixtures: ADJ H2O and the ADJ Megaflash. I simply plugged the H2O into socket 1 and the Megaflash into socket 2. I connected the power, flicked the power switch on.

The test was as follows: 1 on, then off. 2 on, then off. 1 and 2 on, then off. All on, then all off. The unit worked to perfection. I used the remote at close range, from ten to twenty feet. I then stepped into my bedroom (unit was in kitchen). After performing "the test", unit worked to perfection without a hitch or without any loss of response. I then stepped outside; same result. I walked across the street, same test, same result.

I cannot say enough about how outstanding the unit is. I am awaiting delivery of the UC3 Wireless unit for use with my DMX control lights. Will report results as well.

In the meantime, My highest recommendation goes out to ADJ. They have not only mastered LED light performance, but they have outdone themselves with a control unit that will maximize flexibility and performance. Buy with confidence...thanks ADJ. BTW, thanks Chuck Green for your Under the Hood series, it played a major role in my decision to purchase.

This light controller came in just in time. My other controller broke so the wireless controller showed up right when I had a DJ gig. I didnt have time to play with it so I just set it up and used it. It worked great! It was easy to use and setup. I would recommend it to other dj's or bands.

Had it a year and a half. It has quit twice, American DJ supposedly "fixed" it the first time under their one year warranty. Quit working again two or three gigs later. Luckily I had bought from Sweetwater.com who automatically adds a year to warranty of stuff they sell. They are fixing it now. But I am not at all happy, not at all rough with my gear and never plugged any light more than 90 watts in to it, so I don't feel I am to blame. Something came loose this second time according to tech people. I think these things are absolute crap. I also really don't like that you can't put a clamp on the ends. The only way you can mount this thing is very cumbersome except on a large truss, but it does not fit at all well on a light tree. When used on a t-bar it has to be mounted horizontal and it really gets in the way. Wireless control idea is great but the execution of this product design and durability are very poor.

I have not experienced any of the issues that previous reviewers have encountered. I am running a Windows 7 desktop with a 6 core AMD processor and 8 GB of memory. I installed the software directly from the Focusrite website and was up and running quickly. This is the first interface I have bought for home recording and have found it relatively easy to use. The Scarlett Mix Control was a little confusing at first but after carefully reading the manual I have figured it out. I installed Ableton Lite with no issues and have also installed Reaper which is mainly what I have been using as far as DAW software. The pre-amps in this unit sound wonderful and I have been recording guitar and bass dry and adding effects afterwards and I am totally happy with the sound. I have been recording vocals with an Audio Technica AT-2040 mic and vocals sound great through these pre's. I don't know what to think about other reviews here but I have had no problems with this unit. I am a computer technician so I tend to pick up quickly on computer related things and out of the box I was up and running and starting to record in less than an hour after unpacking. And this from a guy who has never used a recording interface before. Focusrite has a great reputation and having used Focusrite preamps in the past I was sold on buying this unit and I am glad I did. I am completely satisfied and I highly reccomend the 816!

I have owned the Presonus Firepod for 7 years and recently gave up my old desktop for a laptop which does not have firewire. So after 3-4 hours of research I decided on the Focusrite Scarlett 816. I read the issues about the latency/static/drivers but am a computer person and had exp with the firepod so I crossed my fingers and bought a factory refurbished model for $175, hoping I could deal with any issues that came up. I got the unit, and first off really like how compact it is compared to the monstrous Firepod, loaded the drivers turned it on, plugged in my bass and was able to hear it through my headphones...but there it was...the terrible glitchy static sound. I screwed around in my prefferences on Ableton for 10 mins like a dummy and then just went out and registered the Scarlett and downloaded the new drivers, rebooted everything, and then plugged back in and everything was perfect and i was relieved. I goofed around with it for 5-10 mins with no effects and was impressed with how warm my Peavy Cirrus sounded just straight in. It is early, but to me it had a much warmer and authentic sound than the Firepod. (In the pod's defense it is 7 year old technology.) As for the unit itself, it is nothing fancy to look at but made solid with well made knobs and looks like it is made to do what it is supposed to do with no frills...which I don't have a problem with. I have not tested the phantom power which I need to do but may update once I test with Audio-Technica 4040. I am rating this a tentaive 5 stars assuming it will continue to work as it did on the initial tests.

The Good:

1. Seems to sound better than Firepod

2. Compact and light. Runs very cool compared to Pod.

3. Appears solidly built

The Bad:

1. Faulty out of box software drivers.

I went out and bought the Scarlett 8i6 at the local music store the salesman there, who runs his own home recording studio, didn't have any qualms about the piece. And after owning it overnight, I do not either.

Sure there were driver updates to go through, but that took an hour and a half, maybe two hours. So I started updating, and took a few breaks, watched some football. After that, the system was ready to go, and I was able to record my first song after following some of the ableton directions. I guess a possible source for poor quality may be in the sound: I don't really know because I didn't hook up any monitors yet (I've gotta save up for those first).

So maybe I'll check back in a little while to see if I'm having the same problems as everyone else. Hopefully not, but I guess there's always a return policy.

Fingers crossed.

Edit: Ok, so I've now been using the interface steadily: I have no problems with the 8i6. In my opinion, it is a fantastic tool for all my small home recording needs. It comes with Ableton Live Lite 8, which is great for just about anything. I would recommend this to anybody starting to record music, and I'm sure it will still work wonders for a trained studio musician looking for an interface.

For the price, this is a great interface. Never had one problem with is honestly. It is a drag that to turn it on you have to plug it in. Very odd. Doesn't have an on and off switch (that I know of). If it's plugged it is on, if not its not. That's a drag but I can get over it. maybe 2% of the time I plug it in and the signal is totally weird. All I do is reset it and the problem is always gone. This is a great interface, easy to use reliable and well made. I highly recommend it. I run it through logic 8 and it is great.

Researched which audio/MIDI interface (under $500) to get for my home studio more than a year and was quite discouraged by the feedback in support forums on almost all audio interfaces with latency issues, clicks and pops, etc. I just couldn't understand why there wasn't one that simply did what it was supposed to do without major hassles.

I had first considered the Akai EIE Pro when it first came out but decided that I should wait to see what bugs may have arisen. It seems like there are several issues with this model from what I have read and more than I care to even consider dealing with.

I then researched both Tascam's US600, Native Instrument's Komplete Audio 6, and the Scarlett. All seemed to be what I was looking for but after reading that the Komplete has considerable latency issues with the analog inputs (having to do with analog->digital sound conversion I think) that there is no solution for (as confirmed by NI) I knew that the Komplete was no longer an option.

So it came down to the US600 and the Scarlett 8i6. After much deliberation and consulting a few friends, the Scarlett 8i6 dropped to ~$190 around Thanksgiving so I took a chance and picked it up.

It was very simple to set this up with Ableton, almost plug and play. Took me just a little while to configure Ableton so that my Ultranova would route audio through the Scarlett. I have had NO issues whatsover with this and am super stoked that I made the right decision with this interface. The sound quality is pristine, the build is nice, and although I have not hooked up a mic to check out the quality of the preamps, I have opened many tracks in Ableton with A LOT going on at the highest quality audio and have not had one instance where there was clicks, pops, or latency that was noticeable (I think the latency in Ableton is set to .86ms) running on an HP with 8GB of RAM and a 3.2 GHZ processor.

It also works great when set to be the PC's default audio card.

Since it's arrival, I'e used the sysems on two occasions. The first was an in-door party for about 120 folks. I ran four speakers (two 400 watt and two 600 watt) and a 600 watt subwoofer for 6 hours, pretty well maxed out. Worked flawlessly.

Second was an outside gig for 5 hours, pushing the same configuration. Worked flawlessly.

On both occasions I was complimented on the robustness and clarity of the music.

If Berhinger would just work on their owner's manual a little more. It's basically useless.

hmmm... first you will get more than you will pay for this product imagine the clarity sound of a desent studio sound systems, that is what you will hear on the speaker output... well i connected it with my yamaha pa speaker that is programed to 250watts rms to 500watts peak, and im really amazed and pleased to the sound output on it, althogh i dont think it can really push it to 350 watts at the max. and theres a wattage settings that you can read or see on the manual about 4ohms 8ohms to 16ohm thats why it really cant do the 350watts per channel... i just know by hearing it cause i recognized sounds and loud sound ...i also have a LIVE power mixer for my karaoke system that has 225watts per channel and that, i will say its louder but also every amp has its ups and downs and for the behringer pmp2000 this power mixer is better, imagine the clarity of a bose "acoustimas serries"... imagine that, that is what you can hear on a PA speaker... that is how good the sound that this power amp produced... about the down side its not that loud that i expect from a 350watts amp and the low's are not that deep or excelent, but thats maybe the speaker that i am using but still it has a good base but not to compare to a good powered subwoffer or car subwoffers... i will say its just right... but on my own satisfaction i wanted a better bass effect so i think im adding another sub speaker or just mix it with a powered subwoffer...

about the channels i have only tried 3 inputs like the guitar, mic, and cd or dvd sound out. and also media player like zune and cellphone that has a preamp or headphones out...and that it will really hugs your sound loving fellings...

about the mixing like i said on those three , there is no problem at all it dont distort the sound while you were playing it at the same time... what a very nice power mixer because on what it can do i would say you can pay 500 dollars and you will still win on that product of behringer, not to talk about the 99 different echos effects , flanger,chorus, and a lot more but they sounds close... once you tried the first effect or effect 1 and at your 25-30th effect you'll be lost and wont be remembering the difference the sound effect that you used earlier... anyway if you want a close look of what im taking about... check out my video on youtube about pmp2000. Got this thing the day of a gig, opened it heavy self out of the box and ran it to my 4 ohm speaker stacks for a test drive. Used it that night a Sorority party for a very young crowd and this thing just rocked!

I was a bit leery when at low volumes it didn't have nearly the bottom end as my Kenwood amp, but at a hotter level (which was only 9 o'clock on the mains) this thing absolutely made my speakers roar with room filling, chest thumping.

Checked the cooling vents a few times through the night and this pup seemed like it never even got warmed up. Cooling system is very nice with a healthy set of heat sinks on the power amps.

Very happy with this purchase and would recommend it anyone looking for a lot of horsepower without spending a big bank-roll. Pretty much have my sites on a new set of pyle dual 15 three way speakers as my next purchase.

The headphones included in this bundle (Colby CV320) have a standard 3.5mm jack and are designed for use with MP3 players. Unfortunately they did not work with the Casio Privia PX-150 which has two 1/4" ports.

I'm searching for an adapter or will just have to buy a different set.

The pictures don't really show how thick it is, but its about the equivalent of 3 or 4 normal headphone cables in diameter (it's actually two stereo wires fused together, merging at the ends.)

I use it at my desk at work. Audio sounds great, no issues there. I just can't see why it needs to be so thick. I've used many other extension cables that were average thickness and they work just as well.

Monoprice usually has good quality at the best price. This is exactly that.

I had bought this without properly considering the different plugs/jacks involved. I initially thought that the cable was flawed because I got both left and right signal audio played on both channels but later realized that this was because this cable did not support TRRS plugs (anything from headsets that have a mic too). If you use a TRS plug, it works perfectly.

Monoprice please update the description on all your cables to point out this caveat. You're getting tonnes of 1 and 2 star reviews on your 3.5mm cables (of other lengths) because I suspect that a lot of folks are making the same mistake I did and either damaging their equipment or suffering through a bad experience.

This is a decent cable--it certainly is sturdy!--but I think for my purposes (using it to connect my headphones to a guitar amp) it's thicker than it needs to be. As a result, it's own bulk sometimes causes it to wobble in the jack on my amp and, therefore, causes some distortion in the signal. Not a big deal, and hey, it didn't cost much.

My computer at work is on the floor, so I use this to extend the headphone jack to the top of my desk, and I use a piece of tape to keep it there. My regular headphone cord is not long enough to reach down to the computer, so this is a god send. I have no issues with my regular headphones (Panasonic over ear), but on regular earphones (Apple, skullcandy, etc.), for some reason if I connect the all the way, the sound isn't loud enough. I actually have to plug those earphones in only halfway to get the full sound. No big deal, because I prefer my headphones anyway.

The SoleMix is a great addition to your JamHub, and frees your fellow musicians to hear exactly what they want to hear. I have maxed out my JamHub with four of these, and I only have one beef with it: the cable is too short, and extension cables are not readily available. This uses a cable using "Displayport" connectors and you will need a male-to-female extension cable. First of all, anyone you call upon to assist you with finding this no-longer standard cable, say at Fry's, will try to sell you a mini-displayport cable, which is not compatible. I know, there is at least one provider of supposedly compatible cords, StarTech, but you will find that the plug casing is too wide to work with the JamHub if you have a cable plugged into the neighboring SoleMix remote connection. The answer is to take a razor blade or box cutter to the plug casing, but I have ruined one of these $23 cables doing this so do it knowing the hazard involved. Also, the maximum length I have seen is 6 ft., which for me is barely enough to get it to reach across the studio. My drummer's SoleMix has to sit on the floor under his tom, because that's as far as the extension can reach. You may see on the JamHub support forums their engineers warning of radio interference resulting from extending the SoleMix cable, but I have not encountered such, and I have four SoleMixes extended 6ft each.

How to Get Rid of Ihome Headphones Troubleshooting

Introduction

IHome players make it easy to connect your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and play the audio through an external speaker system. Common problems experienced with iHome players include the player not recognizing the Apple device, the player not charging the Apple device, audio problems, alarm problems and more. Try resolving your issues through troubleshooting before contacting iHome support or exchanging your player.

iHome Doesn't Recognize Device

The version of iOS currently installed on the device may be not supported by your iHome system. Connect your Apple device to your computer and then check for an available firmware update in iTunes. Install any available firmware updates and then try using your device with your iHome player.

Disconnect your Apple device from the iHome dock. Check the connector on your device to make sure that nothing appears damaged and also that there's nothing in the connector; repeat this process for the iHome dock. Clear any dirt or debris that could be preventing the devices from making a stable connection. Additionally, ensure that you're using the dock associated with the Apple device you're using; if you're not using the dock built specifically for your device, the connection may not be good.

Disconnect your Apple device from the iHome speaker and make sure it isn't locked or frozen. If the device is locked or frozen, hold down the power button to perform a soft reset; this forces all running programs to close and the device to shutdown. Restart the Apple device, ensure it's running correctly and then reconnect it to the iHome player. If you regularly experience problems with your device freezing, see if a software update is available or restore the device to its factory settings.

If you're device works properly prior to connecting it to the iHome player and the software is up to date, your player just may be too old for the iHome player to recognize. This is a problem because older models of iPods and iPhones can only be upgraded to a certain point, and some older models of these devices aren't capable of being upgraded to a version of iOS that works with iHome.

iHome Power Problem

Make sure the power cable is firmly plugged in to both the iHome player and an AC power outlet. If either of the connections on the power cable are loose, the iHome player may not power on.

Disconnect some devices connected to power outlets that share the same circuit breaker and then try resetting the circuit breaker to resolve your iHome problem. The circuit breaker may have been tripped by a major electrical event, such as lightening, or as the result of having too many electrical devices connected to that series of outlets.

Connect your iHome player to a different power outlet. The AC outlet you're using may be defective or have any number of other problems. Avoid trying to fix issues with a potentially defective power outlet on your own unless you're a qualified electrician. You can test the outlet by plugging another device that you know works into the same connector on the same outlet.

Sound Problems

Poor audio quality through your iHome speakers can be the result of having the volume cranked up too high. Try reducing the volume to see if that addresses your problem.

Turn down the level of the bass. High bass can also result in bad audio.
The file on your Apple device that you're trying to play through the iHome speakers may not be a high quality file. These audio imperfections in the file may not be noticed through your headphones, but can become apparent when you listen to that audio file through a good set of speakers. If you created the file on your own, try creating the file again with higher-quality audio settings. Alternatively, if you didn't create the file, it may just be a low-quality file.

If you don't hear any audio through the iHome speakers, disconnect the iHome player from AC power and wait for 30 seconds. Reconnect the iHome player to AC power and see if it resumes working. Sometimes, iHome players suffer an internal glitch where no audio is played for connected devices and the player needs to be reset. Also, try restarting your Apple iPhone, iPod or iPad.

iHome Won't Charge Apple Device

If you're not using a dock compatible with your device, the device may not be seated properly, resulting in a poor connection with the player that may result in the iHome not charging your Apple device.

This may be a sign that your Apple device is frozen and not responsive. Disconnect the Apple device from your iHome player and then try performing some of the suggestions in the second bullet point within the iHome Doesn't Recognize Device section.

This may be a sign that your Apple device has a defective battery. If you feel this is the case, contact Apple and see what your options are.

iHome Alarm and Clock Problems

If you don't like the default snooze time on your iHome player, try holding down the snooze button and then pressing the "+" and "-" buttons to adjust the snooze time for your iHome's alarm.

Most iHome players have two alarms. If your alarm isn't going off, ensure the alarm you want to use is the active alarm.

If your alarm isn't going off on the correct day, ensure that your iHome's calendar is set to the correct day. If you set the time but didn't set the correct date on your player, the alarm may not go off on the correct day.

If your iHome player features Time Sync and the time isn't changing to correspond with your Apple device, update your iPod, iPad or iPhone firmware. If that still doesn't work, your Apple device may be too old to support this feature.
