This is really strange, because I bought this unit on sale from another vendor ($129) and like other reviewers state it turns off at higher volumes but I kept it anyways and here's why.

As a beginner drum student, I wasn't ready to invest in a drum set so I went with this tabletop model at a rock bottom price, comparing it to 5 other brands. My hope was that if I could get the knack of playing it after a few months, then I would consider upgrading to a full kit and hopefully sell it at an online auction for a fair price.

The first time I played along with one of the learning songs, I turned up the volume and the entire unit shut off! After some investigating, it turns out that if I turn the bass OFF, I can use it beyond a 4 volume, maybe up to a 6 on a good day. But with that bass on, the entire unit will always shut down whenever it reaches a 3 or 4 depending on how hard I am hitting the pads.

In the end, because of storage considerations and the fact that it does have a student mode, metronome and other features I have elected to keep it, deal with its defect and play it at low volume. I also took into account that just one snare practice pad runs around $20 or so, and a metronome another $25.

With all those reasons combined, I figured that it's still a good value for practice reasons, because returning it and finding another model for the same price or even a little more was not an option at the time of purchase.

In reading these reviews it seems that its a common defect, so buyer beware. I would still take my chance again and see if you end up with one that doesn't have this problem because it is a fabulous value.

Thanks for taking the time to read my review.

Received this as a Christmas gift last year. It seemed pretty solid but then I tried to play it. First thing I noticed was that one of the drum pads wasn't attached properly, kind of flopping around. I took the palm of my hand and pressed it into place. Plugged it in and started to play. THE SOUND WAS GREAT! Much better sounding than Casio or even Yahama kits I've tried.

Then I realized I didn't have the pedals plugged in. Plugged them up, tapped the kick bass pedal twice and the whole thing shut itself off. I turned it back on, started to play, tapped the pedal........every time the same, turns itself off. Customer support for this product from Fender is pretty much non-existent.

This is a real shame. Fender lent their good name to this product. And it sounds great. And it's junk.

A great drum set for a good price. Only problem I have is that the touch sensitive is almost too sensitive. It would be nice if there was an option for turning it off. I bought the drum kit for the Fender name and I'm not disappointed with it at all. Sounds really good through the head phones and probably really good through an amp which I don't have as yet. Only reason not a 5 star is because of the sensitivity which some people may like.

This Drumkit works really well if you don't have room for a full drumset or can't play one in your apartment or dorm. I wouldn't suggest this thing for playing gigs because it sounds inferior to a real drumset. If you don't plan on really doing anything with it other than playing along with your mp3 collection or adding recording tracks to mixes, it will probably work for you.

I'm giving it 4 stars because besides the pedals not always being responsive for me, It it exactly what I wanted; a drumset to play in my apartment.

The product is just as the manufacturer labels it: easy to use and fun to play. This product teaches you step-by-step how to play the drums while also giving the option to play at your own will. With an extremely large selection of drum sets to choose from and an easy-to-understand digital display, I'd recommend this to anyone wanting to learn how to play the drums without having to deal with the noise that an actual drum set will make. Great for beginners and intermediates.

I am very happy with this keyboard. It has the touch-sensitive keys so the harder you push the key, the louder the note sounds. It is polyphonic up to 40+ keys which is way more than I need considering I only have 10 fingers. Even if the whole family played at the same time (which sometimes does happen) we would be covered.

It comes with the 61-key keyboard; a music book which has ~ one hundred songs (they are all numbered so you can play them in demo mode on the keyboard to see what they should sound like before you attempt to play them yourself); a power cord (not very long, ~ 6-8 feet); headphones with a converter so that you can plug them into the keyboard with the converter(which has the wide headphone opening) or into a PC, MP3 player etc. without using the converter; and a single-X stand.

The keyboard is great. I played piano 20 years ago at the intermediate level (always on a real piano, never on a keyboard), and it felt pretty natural to me right away. The keys respond similarly to how real piano keys do. I felt a little bit strange at first playing on a keyboard with 2 octaves missing, but I got used to it quickly and I actually haven't noticed the missing keys on any song I've played yet. The one thing I miss the most vs. a real piano is the pedal. I sometimes switch to a different voice in order to get the sound I want of the notes flowing together since you cannot use a pedal to achieve that effect. There are over 400 "voices" including 15 pianos, 15 electric pianos, strings, brass, ensembles and drums. My kids love to play on the drum setting. You change the voice by pressing the voice button and then typing in the number of the voice you want on the number pad. There is a metronome, beats and demo songs you can play (you just press the appropriate button and then key the number of the song, beat, etc. you want to hear). When you press the a piano keys, you will see the corresponding note on the treble or base clef on the small screen in the top/middle of the keyboard. There is also an image of the piano keys on the screen where it highlights the key you are pressing. When you have it play a demo song it highlights the melody key as it plays. The keyboard is very light and not too thick; it could easily be stored in a closet or on a shelf. As for the sound, it sounds great. I notice a very slight ringing on the end of each note, but it is very very slight.

The headphones a decent. They are great for practicing so everyone in the room doesn't have to hear you play.

The stand is ok. I've seen reviews on similar products where reviewers have complained about the stand. I just think this is the type of stand you are going to get for the price. It assembles easily with 4 screws. I've found the stand itself to be fairly sturdy, but the keyboard does not attach to the stand. There are adjustable caps on the top of the stand so you can trap the keyboard in between them a little bit. But I would be nervous having my kids play with it on the stand. I typically put it on the dining room table to play. It is portable enough that you can just pull it out when you want to play.

The music book has songs ranging from level A to level D. There are some Christmas songs (Joy to the World) religious songs (Amazing Grace) Folk songs (O Susana) and lots of classical pieces. There is good range of material and difficulty here to get started if you don't already have a music book. The keyboard comes with a curved wire rack that hooks into the top of it to hold the music. It won't hold too thick of a book, but it serves its purpose.

This was the perfect keyboard for me. I am glad I didn't spend any additional money for more features there are more than enough features on this model for me. I might end up needing those 2 missing octaves as some point, but for now I'm glad to save some space and still be able to play.

Good Beginner keyboard. touch sensitive keys but not piano action(or weighted). The kids do love it. Good learning tools for beginners.

Read Best Reviews of Casio CTK-3200 61-Key Premium Portable Keyboard Package with Headphones, Stand and Power Supply Here

This is perfect for beginners:

* it has 61 keys so it's large enough to learn with. 88 key keyboard are more expensive.

* the keys are "touch sensitive" so the level of sound they produce depends on how hard you hit a key. This is good for beginners because it's almost like real, much more expensive, pianos. It's not the real thing of course, but good enough.

* it's very reasonably priced comparing to other options

It has many bells and whistles like different sounds and rythms. We don't use these much so I can't really compare them with other models. I assume if these are a huge factor, there are better models with more sounds and beats.

I researched this product against others and I have to say I am pleasnty suprised, I have a real piano in my den and I have this hooled up to my computer and It works and feels just like a real piano. The Tones are amazing, and the keys are not to big and they have just the right touch for dynmics. Grerat Piano!

I've worked on every sort of mixer you can imagine from full Mackie consoles to Allen & Heath Xone series to Pioneer DJM series to Rane rotary mixers. As a dj I've used the cheapest in the industry and the best you work with what you have in front of you at the party. Some mixers can provide a miserable experience (ahem low end numark hate the eq, the phone levels are always low.) So I didn't expect much from this mixer but Gemini come correct for the price point. Provided excellent sound to my setup. Phono preamp is CLEAN! This is the primary reason I bought the mixer to use for sampling into Maschine / MPC. The output level is not as loud as I would have hoped but it's clean and acceptable for the price. Crossfader is more fun than I thought it would be. Only 2 bands of EQ but they have a nice sound and again I don't expect 3 band EQ for this price. What I needed this mixer to be was sturdy, clean sounding and utilitarian in my setup. It's working perfectly and the sound is transparent. Recommended.

This is a bit overpriced for what it is. It is very simple and does not have a lot of functions like crossfader reverse and slope adjustment. If small size is critical, it's fine. Power switch is in back and headphone jack is in front, so you pretty much have to use it on a tabletop. I was not able to find a replacement crossfader.

I've been a radio/tv studio engineer for 40 years and do tech support for several online radio stations and utube subscribers. I can't believe how well this little mixer performs. I have it set up on an old IBM laptop and use it to generate station i.d's, liners, and commercials. The sound is as clean as the 24 channel board I use on the air.

Set up took 10 minutes..and it is very straight forward/simple to operate. You sure can't beat it for the price.

When I read the description of the product I was like no way! I never heard of waterproof earphones.

Once I received it in the mail I opened it immediately. Nice packaging design I first thought. Now the only thing that was missing was an instuction sheet of some kind.Of course I already knew how it works but as a gift, you might get a phone call from your friend on how it works and are there any water limitations. So, i think it should be included.

The test: I used in the shower(phone in a water proof case), and the ear phones were comfortable and stayed in my ear.Even when washing and rinsing my hair it was still the same. The mic feature still worked.Going to the beach this weekend and these earphone I'm taking!

Conclusion: great product and worth the price.

First of all i want to mention about material, this headset fells right in your ears. Not disturbing, not itching. the best feature is you dont have to think about it when you go to your pool or do any sports. that means you dont need to find out a case or smthng to protect your device. And the remote function can be useful while your phone is fully covered for protection. I tried this product with an IPhone 5 and the sound quality is not perfect but satisfying. If you try to find a headset that can be used everywhere it is your product.

I was very excited to receive this, along with a sleeve for my iPod touch. We have a pool, so I spend a lot of time relaxing on a float. It gets old swimming to the side of the pool to change songs, so I wanted to be able to waterproof things.

Out of the box, they worked great. The earbud part is a little big (I have little ears) but they worked fine. I tested out the button, and was happy that it worked like the iPod earbuds with a remote button. I got in the pool, listened to music for a while, then wanted to pause the song, and realized the button was broken. I've made arrangements to return this, and will read reviews and decide if I want to try again with this kind, or go with another brand.

Sound is great, and I didn't notice any difference between these and other non-waterproof ones I have, so I didn't rate them less stars.

For the money these were great. If I just had them plugged into my iPod and could use the iPod controls (with a waterproof case, it's hard to change songs) I'd keep them. Because I picked this pair especially for the remote button, I'll return them.

The "extreme isolation" promised by the name of the product is missing in these headphones. You can hear EVERYTHING around you, only it's muffled very slightly.

This was a very disappointing purchase. If you're looking for a lot of sound reduction, as I was, these are not the headphones to buy.

Read Best Reviews of Direct Sound HP25 DJ Headphones Here

I bought Direct Sound EX-25 for my child for $79.95 who has sound sensitivity. I have never felt so jipped by a company as this. There is NO "Extreme Isolation" and I felt it failed even the basic usability test. The whole product is made of cheap plastic and broke in a day. You can replace the cheap plastic headband paying ~$25 (S&H included).

I was in the Harbor Freight and got their Earmuff ($5) and use a simple Coby earphone (~$12 for 2) and I felt that gave better sound isolation and better quality of sound.

I wish Direct Sound could explain to my son the value of reasonable fairness. $80 is a lot of money for a child and takes a long time to collect. I hope to share their response with Aspergers support groups.

It took me long to comment only because I wanted to be objective instead of being emotional.

I got these because my grandson has a small band and they practice at our house on and off, and in the winter, they have to play inside due to the weather. My room is next to the room where they play, and as I am already hearing impaired, I need to protect what hearing I have left from loud conditions. I got the drummer hearing protection and it works great. I do enjoy the kind of music they play, so I can still hear the music, but, it is toned down so that it is not harmful to my hearing. This makes it easier on all of us. They band can play and all enjoy their music and they don't feel bad about it. After my dad dies last March, who I was a caregiver for, I was asked to move in with my grandson and his family so I would not be alone in another part of the state. But, they were worried about the band playing in the house when necessary and my hearing issue. They were going to try to find another place to play but it would not always be the same place and moving the equipment around every week for band practice was not a good idea. So, I told them not to worry about all that, a pair of good hearing protection would take care of the problem for me.

I know band members who play, or have played, professionally and they said this type of hearing protection is the best, so I got these and am very glad I did. They work great, are a very comfortable, and good a product and price. Best of all, everyone is happy. My grandson and his friends think this grandma really rocks!:-)

My son has a sensory function disorder and falls into a heap of tears when people "chew" or "sniff" or "breathe". These earphones were initially a disappointment too him because he had hoped they would completely block out all the sound. But they are now his constant companion in the car, at dinner, doing homework, watching a movie, etc... They block out a lot of the background noise while allowing you to be "present" and participate. A NECESSITY for our household!

The installer for the Mac download does not work from Amazon. If you want to use this software, you must download from Amazon to obtain your registration key. Keep track of the registration key, you will need it.

You can then download the software from either versiontracker.com or the developer, srslabs.com

Search for Mac software "iwow" and download "iwow premium for itunes".

The download is a ".dmg" file (disk image.) Browser downloading a disk image will usually automatically mount the image for you. If you have it disabled in your browser prefs, you will need to manually mount the disk image (double clicking the ".dmg" file will usually do the trick.)

When you run the installer downloaded through versiontracker, (or SRS Labs) you can then use the registration key provided by Amazon to unlock the software. (Without the registration key, you get a 14-day trial and then the application will stop working.)

I had seen a favorable review elsewhere and was excited to try this software. I use Airport Express to stream iTunes to powered speakers, so the idea that the software optimizes for either headphones or external speakers was appealing. But what they carefully don't tell you in the product description is that it only works for external speakers that are plugged into the headphone jack. The only hint of this in the description is a reference to "standard" headphones and speakers. I contacted SRS and complained that in this day and age, failure to explicitly state that an audio software product requires a hard-wired connection is deceptive. They replied that they think their description is just fine. They also stated that they have no plans to support audio streaming. So stay away from this product unless you are willing to be cabled in place.

I own the SRS HD Audio Lab, iWow for iTunes, SRS iWOW adapter (for iPod/iPhone), iWow 3d adapter and I have tried My Tunes Pro HD (for the iPad), My Tunes Pro (for iPhone/iPod Touch) and the Audio Essentials software for PC.

And the best out of them all are:

(Starting with the best)

1. HD Audio Lab (Which Enhances all sound on your PC)

This program was the program that SRS was selling before it was replaced by the Audio Essentials software. HD Audio Lab's audio not only sounds better than the Audio Essentials software, but also has more specific settings for what kind of speaker you are playing your content on. Such as headphones, laptop (internal speakers) or computer speakers. For computer speakers you can choose 2.0, 2.1, 5.1 and 7.1. As well as full control over advanced settings such as SRS 3d Space Level, SRS 3d Center Level, SRS Trubass Level, Speaker Size: 100Hz, SRS Focus Level, SRS Definition Level and Limiter Level. You can also choose from three different modes which are movie, music and game. The best mode to use for everything is the music mode.

2. iWow 3d Adapter (for iPod, iPad, iPhone) After listening to my music with the adapter I liked it so much I can't listen to my music without it.

3. My Tunes Pro HD (for iPad) A must have for listening to music on the iPad.

The KRK name speaks for itself. And these headphones live up to the name. They have excellent reproduction across all frequencies, from what I can tell, especially in the bass range. In my home studio I created a pop-style mix with a vocal track over multiple orchestral instruments, and these headphone monitors never let me down. The final mix turned out wonderfully.

The KRKs are cushioned and comfortable to wear for long periods of time. They have good sound insulation to cut out background noise, but are breathable enough so that you don't sweat.

With a fascinating combo of extreme extension and a balanced frequency response reminiscent of the Beyerdynamic DT880-600 (sans the Beyer's unfortunate treble peak), the KRK 6400 is my current pick for headphone under $100 with the best combination in this bracket I've come across of acceptable speed, extension, balance, and fairly, though imperfect, low distortion throughout its wide frequency response. It's not quite as low distortion as some others, which will prevent it from knocking anyone's socks off with musicality. Precise enough imaging, but not a particularly large soundstage even for a closed headphone. Not quite as flat as some. Has a slight dip in the 60hz band. And it's a little over-damped and lacking in refinement, resolution, and midrange articulation (e.g. the Sony 7506 has flatter midrange and better voice clarity). But with a good amp to keep the bass tuneful and free from excessive roll-off (no bass boost, either), it's pretty hard to fault for the price. Things are even, easy to pick out, and all in their right place and unsweetened even without cranking it up. I'd like it to be sweeter. I'd like it to be more musical and refined. I'd like it to be a sonic hologram stretching out far around my head. It's not, but it's great for monitoring and good for listening. And it's under a hundred bucks. My physical complaints: The headband can become uncomfortable, in spite of the obvious attempt to remedy this with a gap in the middle. You may want to replace the headband pad with a spare memory foam one from the KRK 8400 replacement parts, which can be purchased separately. The detachable cable is also fairly stiff and microphonic.

My friend (a protege of mine who is getting into producing dubstep and the like) got a pair (of the KNS-6400) and I had a chance to check them out and was impressed. I auditioned them further at guitar center off of an ipod and they responded extremely well to some skrillex and DJ Tiesto. I picked up a pair that same day. I've had them for about 9 months now and realized (a few days ago) I wanted a second reference set of phones. Again, Guitar Center had a great deal on a set of Audio Technica ATH-M45s. Picked those up (they were the white ones) and noticed that listening to the Audio Technica's (as much as I had liked the KRKs up to this point) opened up gobs more detail and richness in each of the recordings I auditioned. All of the songs I had mixed on the KRKs were excellent sounding on the Audio Technicas (the KRK's always tended to translate rather well for mixing duties) but I noticed a immense amount more bass depth and detail and a higher degree of "immediacy" from the Audio Technica's. Things were simply more exciting sounding... somehow.

First song I tried mixing on the Audio Technica's (ATH-M45s) turned out way better than I had anticipated. Pleasant surprise.

There's an interesting trade-off here for the KRK KNS-6400 that I've noticed from my experience in using the amount of headphones I have over the years (I've owned a lot of phones/headphone amps/interfaces). The KRK's seem to strike a tonal balance that is conducive towards mixing that will translate very well across playback platforms. I've written a good deal of songs through the KRKs and they always tended to sound very "even" on any system I tried them on (with the exception of managing low-bass, this was actually somewhat problematic). In comparison, the Audio Technica ATH-M45s made it easier to really enjoy mixing (sounds just felt more real and alive) but caused the overall mix balance to apparently suffer a bit (at least upon a couple initial comparisons with reference songs). It gets even more interesting though, because the more I listened through the KRKs to the song I just finished mixing on the Audio Technica's, the more I actually started to prefer the tonal balance of my own song to that of reference commercial pieces that I typically use in comparison. For as many years as I've spent mixing, I've come across strange scenarios like this on a somewhat frequent basis that are especially confounding.

What I think it boils down to is this. The KRK KNS-6400s are really decent phones. They allow for very accurate mix balancing in terms of the scope of frequency spectrum (expect problems in the low-bass where they lack definition and extension). However, they don't make mixing all that exciting. The can definitely do the job and if the level of detail is what you want then they could very well be a great fit as they have for many other people. But something about what I was able to accomplish with the Audio Technica's was so much more immediately satisfying in terms of crafting an end-product from both a production and mixing perspective that I can't really look back. The KRKs do (in direct comparison) actually sound a little hollow I suppose. I don't think what I'm describing is really a factor of frequency response per say. I could see how people would really like this set. I can also see how you might come to the same conclusion as I did. I never had that "wow" moment with the KRKs where I was so impressed with a mix that I just sat there wondering how it ended up sounding so good when (by all considerations) it really shouldn't have. The KRKs always just sort of delivered what I generally expected from them.

I prefer being pleasantly surprised. Other phones have done that for me. The KRKs will make an excellent second reference set however.

If you desire some bass-heavy, fun, fashionable cans for pop/rock/hip-hop, look elsewhere. If you would rather enjoy clear, unaltered sound that closely resembles the artists' intentions, look no further. The KRK KNS6400s are incredibly flat, but they are by no means dull. I know there are so many different headphone makes and models out there just buy these! I was content with them right out of the box. (I've played instruments and listened to music all my life, Btw.) I do not usually write reviews, but this time I must do it.

I have to say, the KRK marketing and customer reviews are for real. I own several headsets and headphones. For gaming, I have the Logitech G35, Sennheiser PC-350, Plantronics GameCom 777. My most recent configuration before the KRK Headphone purchase was the sb08880 Titanium Sound Blaster and the PC-350. I have used the PC-350 with Extreme Gamer and Bravura sound cards. I wanted a headphone to get the most out of my music, because the headsets are not quite right for music and movies. On the internet, some forum comments on the KRK made be interested to do more research. Even after all the research, I was still skeptical and thought that many of the reviewer comments were just hype. Well, now that I have these bad boys, they are for real. The headphone presents the music as it is and originally recorded. There are no undesired built-in enhancements by the headphone. With or without an AMP, this headphone surpasses the sound quality of my headsets and I sort of expected this increased quality for music and movies. I was impressed even more when I used the KRK 6400 in gaming and made my subjective comparisons. Even gaming with the internal sound cards and USB surround sound emulators, the KRK is superior in clarity and positioning. In fact, I forget I have on the headphone, because the sounds are so precise and realistic. I hear sound I have not heard with my other headsets built specifically for gaming.

Do not be mislead by the price of the KRK 6400. Initially, I could not imagine a headphone that cost less than any one of the headsets or headphones I own or have owned could be so superior. Yet, the KRK 6400 is far superior to the other, in my opinion.

The soundstage and 3D positioning is perfect in gaming. The presentation of the music is so accurate, I hear sounds in songs I have never heard before now. The KNS6400 is worth more than the cost.

Four stars because the price is so low for a multiband compressor. I'm as much a live audio engineer (touring and at a large church) as I am a bass player. I also do some studio session bass. I bought this to try it because, honestly, a compressor stomp box for under $100 is disposable in a world where decent compression costs at least 3 times as much. That's just the reality of the cost of internal components and I set my expectations accordingly.

If you're playing live on a budget I think this is a good shot at multiband compression. As far as I know, this Digitech and the EBS Multicomp are the only mulitband bass stomp box compressors in town. The EBS felt like more of a risk because $200 isn't much but it's not disposable, it has no crossover frequency adjustment, and a bass mag review said they couldn't tell the difference between its multiband mode and its "Tube Sim" mode. I'm sure the EBS sounds cleaner but I like lots of control. If I get a chance to demo one and it sounds better I'll probably buy it but the local Guitar Center doesn't keep them in stock. For now, this Digitech works for me.

True to Digitech form this box hisses when you get agressive with it. At $70 you forfeit all rights to complain about a little hiss. Try to find another multiband comp for that price. They did put in a noise gate that's set pretty well so it doesn't hiss when you're not playing and if you play solidly the signal to noise ratio is just good enough for live but I wouldn't take it to the studio. The 4 knobs are for level, crossover point, low compression and high compression. You can get a wide range of tone out of this. The single compression dials seem to drop the threshold and raise the makeup gain at the same time as you turn them up. The higher you turn them the more the noise floor comes up. 1/4 turn is plenty of compression so don't overdo it. (Compression is a fine art more is not necessarily better and the best fix for uneven tone is better playing style.)

It has an alternative output that simulates an amp. Nice touch but I don't use it. I think it tries too hard. If you don't use another amp or amp modeler then I can see this cleaning up your tone on a semi-pro live system in a saturated mix like most churches: 2 electrics, keyboards, acoustics, drums, tons of vocals, all playing all the time... you want plenty of midrange to maintain clarity of tone and this will do it for you.

Here's how this has helped me: For my vintage tone I play a Fender Jaguar in passive mode through a POD X3 Fender Bassman model. The Jag thunders on the low end (first 5 frets of the E string) but when you want to get the right overdrive evenly across the whole fretboard the low notes overdrive more and turn to mush; no clarity or focus. I set the crossover point on the compressor so it evens out the low end, I get just enough edge evenly on all notes, then I make up the low end after the amp like you would in the studio. It sound just gritty enough down low and the upper notes stay nice and thick. I get compliments on that tone almost every time I use it and the minor hiss in a live setting isn't that noticeable.

Remember, go easy on compression; you only need just enough. Tone is in the finger, not the gear.

With this compressor and a Sansamp Bass driver, you can get any popular bass sound, and do everything that the TC electronic 450 or Staccato heads do, but at a fraction of the cost. This thing is easy to adjust, makes very little noise and works well with all basses. Unlike the one-knob 3-band compression of TC heads, this allows players to adjust the crossover frequency and compression level. That's a great feature because every player, amp and bass is different.

I have found that this is also great for guitar. Most compressors set attack based on an averaged voltage of the entire input. Separating the bands into lows and highs, and then adjusting the attack differently, allows you to get a great Jazz tone without losing dynamics.

Before you go out and spend a ton of money on one of those new TC heads, Check out the Sansamp Bass driver and this pedal together. You can get all the useful sonic functions of the egregiously expensive TC heads at a fraction of the cost. The only things you will not get: bells-and-whistles like a built in tuner, pretty lights and the wallet-raping.

Sansamp Bass Driver is about $200. Add $65 for this. If you already have any kind of bass amp, you can use these with it.

Compare that cost with the $1500 of the TC bass heads, and you can see why so many informed pro-bassists refuse to shell out the extortion money TC wants for their pretty new amps.

Because Digitech is owned by Harmon, and Harmon also owns DBX, they were able to incorporate some of the DBX "over-easy" compression algorithms into this inexpensive unit. That means it sounds good almost no matter how you set it.

It has two outputs, one optimized for bass amps, the other for going straight into a mixing desk. That means you can also use it with low-noise professional mixers like Mackie or go directly into a pro-power amp.

This is a versatile and useful pedal for bass or guitar. I have even used it to record snare drums with great results! The dual band feature allows you to put heavy compression on the low end so every hit has that authoritative wallop, but you can ease off the compression on the high-end so that nuances of good drumming comes through the mix.

If you have a low-budget home recording studio,

are a pro-bassist looking for the tonal excellence of over-priced boutique amps without the exorbitant tariff,

or are a jazz guitarist who needs a smooth professional sound without losing tone and dynamics,

This is a good gamble that usually pays off.

Try it, especially if you were drooling over a new TC bass head. You don't need to spend a fortune to get great tone.

Combine this with a Sansamp Bass Driver and you will be in Funky Heaven.

The other reviewers have done a decent job covering what you need to know about this particular pedal, so I'll just input my personal experience to (more or less) back up what's been said.

I've been using this pedal for a few months now, and I'd say it is certainly worth a try for live settings. I play live sets several times a week in various settings and implementing a variety of styles, and I've found that this compressor can hold its own pretty well. Obviously the biggest selling point is the low price, so don't expect magic to come out. The sound quality is acceptable for live sets, but I wouldn't use it for recording. The first day I used it I picked up on that familiar "digitech" feel to the sound, but once you get used to it (or settle) it's not really noticeable. I only recognize it by knowing the sound of my own gear, so unless you have a real audiophile standing next to you, no one will notice.

I've found the 2nd output to be particularly useful at times. When going direct out from my amp, unless I'm plugged into the "Out 2", a buzz comes through the board even though I don't hear it in my amp. Something to keep in mind if (for whatever reason) you decide to use this for recording.

Also, plan on getting the power supply. I went through a couple batteries before realizing that it would only last for a couple hours of continuous play. There's nothing worse than getting the sound you want only to loose it half way through a set, so save yourself the aggravation and get the cord.

Overall, it's a useful little pedal to keep in your gig bag. If you're looking for more control over your sound, go for it, but if you're looking for a professional sound, keep looking.

Good:

-dual band compression

-solid construction

-easy to use

-dual output

-great value

Bad:

-farts out completely (massive, nonmusical distortion) if you go too loud or past about 10-11 o-clock on the compression. I'd rather have finer control over the usable part of the band. Really I'd rather it did better at high compression, but at this price, what can you expect?

The dual band feature allows me to compress the bottom end on my bass so that I can play in a variety of styles without having to change volume settings, without having to bring in a bunch of string noise by compressing the high end. That's why I got it, and it does that just fine as long as you don't push the compression too hard. A quality noise gate and higher quality compressor might be a better solution, but it ought to be considering that's about 500 bucks worth of gear, and this is less than $100.

I can't speak to the battery life, I always use a power supply.

I own a real nice bass and some good old copy standbys. An '82 Wal Custom fretless, a kit Jazz bass with Bartolini's and an added Seymour Duncan two band active EQ(reviewed here), a kit '57 Precision style sunburst/goldguard w/DiMarzio P-bass pickups, and a japanese '51 Precision reissue in butterscotch that's stone stock. All the Fender styles have maple neck/fingerboards. I plug into a little Hartke 1 12" Hartke Kickback 12 Bass Guitar 1x12 Combo Amplifier, 120 watts that I reviewed here with an added tube DI. Look them up. Anyway, I got this pedal and started reading the directions and they were worded too complex for me so I will simplify. Level is volume output. Crossover selects where low frequency level control and high frequency level control take effect. In a nutshell, the compression is SET. You can't adjust the ratio like other pedals. The pedal should be called a compression/EQ pedal. You set the output level to your amp, use the crossover control like a pan pot to pick your low, high, or whatever frequency, and turn the low/high knobs on the pedal to add or subtract the crossover selected bass and treble levels, like active bass/treble knobs. I don't know if there is an internal trimpot to add or reduce the compression intensity, but that would be nice. I personally think the compression is just a tad heavy, but in a band mix with guitars, drums, vocals and keys, it's probably fine. I like compression when I want it but will turn it off just as quick in a less dense situation like acoustic guitar or a sax fronted jazz combo. Once you get how simple this pedal is to run after you read past the verbage, it's a nice option to have in your gig bag. Set the EQ levels to the same and you have your basic compressor. Adjust them around and you got an easy to use active variable frequency EQ for your amp. And it's pretty darn cheap to boot!

I bought this for pairing with my iPad or iPod touch. We listen to a lot of Internet radio for channels that we don't have great reception to in my area. It's absolutely awesome to just grab this, turn it on and out comes the music. No cables, power supplies or other hassles. Great for use in the kitchen too if you have a kitchen lacking extra outlets like we do.

Sound quality is excellent to my ears. For $60 I didn't expect Bose-quality sound, and that's good because it's not as good as a Bose sound dock, but still it's quite powerful for its size and I love that I can plug other devices into it or use an SD card or thumb drive if I wanted to travel even lighter and have all my music on one of those.

I've been hoping somebody would make something like this for a long time. Fits my needs perfectly.

I had reservations about this, but it has been pleasantly surprising . I have used this successfully with a nexus 7 and iPhone over Bluetooth. This thing is loud enough that we used it by the pool for music. And my sister asked me to turn it down it was so loud. We were out there rocking it for 3 hours and the speaker showed no signs of stopping.

A pretty decent sounding speaker. Don't expect a large, loud sound from this little box speaker but it does deliver for an immediate party area. Thought the battery would last a bit longer.

I have been on the hunt for noise canceling headphones that sound great and look stylish. Of course, "look stylish" is completely subjective but I generally like the aesthetics of Apple products (clean, modern design) and the feel of high-quality materials. When I saw the Beats Executive headphones I thought they had gotten it right. I really like the look, the materials seems to be all metal and leather, giving the impression of a classy, durable, elegant product -at least in my opinion. They appear to be well made and I could see myself wearing them (by the way, I'm not a hip hop kind of guy -I'm a business guy with a rock n roll sensibility). Also, I liked the fact that the printing on top of the headband said simply "Beats" and not "Beats by Dr Dre". Anyway, I tried them on at an Apple store and thought they were comfortable and then listened to some music. Not bad, I thought. Then I tried on the Bose Quiet Comfort 15 as a comparison. The Bose are much lighter, but the materials feel more plastic and less substantial. Nonetheless, the lightness of the Bose did make them very comfortable and easy to wear. But the sound of the Bose is the biggest difference. The Bose let the music come alive, and the Beats smother the music with poor EQ. I tried a few different genres of music and the biggest difference came when I listened to a Norah Jones track that started with an upright acoustic bass. The Bose made the bass sound like a real upright bass -the tone, the articulation, it was beautiful. Listening to the same track on the Beats -I couldn't even tell that it was an upright bass. It had none of the nuances of the tone, attack or resonance. So based on that, I will not be buying the Beats. Ideally, I would like the look of the Beats Executive and the sound quality of the Bose combined in one set of headphones. So it's up to you -which is more important: the look or the sound?

Try upgrade your sound to last class. The EQ on these headphones are pitiful. The highs are barely there, they've done 0 with the mids and the bass is so far overdriven that you may as well use these as a vibrator. The audio quality coming out of these headphones is far from superior. I'd ALMOST rather a pair of Skullcandy smokin' buds (which are also pitiful). If you want some serious over ear head phones pick yourself up a pair of Sennheiser HD 380 Pro's, or some Audio Technica MT50's, both of which are a lot cheaper, are made of some high quality materials, and the sound quality is almost unparalleled. Treat your ears with some respect, don't even consider picking a pair of these up, especially not for $300 which is WAY too much money to pay for these, you're paying for the name.

So here we are again with another Beats Headphone. Considered to be the newest in the Beats series, The Executive model aims to take listening to the next level, featuring active noise cancellation for a change. These hit retail early in October 2012 and is the first headphone that Beats have created without Monster Cable's help. Monster and Beats parted ways and the Beats decided to come up with a fresh "new" concept.

The headphone is aimed for people who are frequently flying and don't have enough space to cram a big casing headphone in their carry on. In all honesty, It's a rehash of the Beats Studios, but fine tuned and built a little different. For starters, the headphone has more of an aluminum finish than the plastic build you see in the Studio model. Although identical in height, The Executives can either fold in like the Studios or fold sideways like a pair of Sennheiser PXC450s. This particular fold is what makes the headphone compact with the slim case, though the case is still significantly wide.

The Executives are also the first Noise Cancelling headphones in the Beats series. Some people think the Studio model was, but that headphone is more of a powered sound isolating headset with a built in amplifier that drives the bass and lows, and they bleed out insane at higher volumes.

The Executives are a bit more quiet at louder volumes but do their best to be as crisp on the Highs and Mids. The Bass response is there but not as punchy as the Studios or any other Beats branded headphone. The noise cancelling is ok at best. You still hear a hissing sound coming from the headphone, but testing it with the white noise app does show it is capable of reducing background ambient noise.

Because this is a noise cancelling headphone, you need batteries. Remember when I said these were a rehash Studio model? The batteries go in the same section that the Studios had them place, and the b logo on the right earcup sports a monitor button like the Studios do. The only minute difference is that the left earcup where the batteries go; the b logo is actually a magnetic fix as oppose to a twist and pull door.

Getting down to how they handle music; the headphones do a good job of supplementing bass still if you listen to RnB, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Rap. If you listen to country, classical, or even acoustic guitar, they don't do a good job. It's subpar at best and the audio quality isn't as warm as some other headphones at $300. You can buy a pair of AKG K495s for the same price and get a better audio sound than these guys, but preference is an issue here on what you listen to.

The last gripe about the headphone is that they still only come with the cable designed for Apple iPhones and other iProducts. The mic is supposedly able to work on HTC phones, but when I tried it on my EVO3D, the person couldn't hear my voice. The other issue is the battery. Because these are powered headphones, the battery life on these with standard AAA's is about 22-25 hours. The main concern here is that the headphone went down the Bose road, meaning that if you turn off the headset, you get nothing to listen. They have to be powered on so you can use listen to them on the go.

They're not bad headphones, but the price is an issue. You're really getting at most, a mid-range headset for a high price, and there's better noise cancelling headphones on the market that will you serve you better like Audio-Technica's ANC9. While the build is better, the audio takes a huge step back, and you may feel wanting more out of your music after listening to these. But if you listen to the genres I mentioned above (Rap, etc.) they're good headphones, but trust me... you can do better.

I purchased these headphones from amazon with 5-8 day shipping on a saturday morning and they arrived on monday at noon excellent shipping service. I opened the headphones was very happy then I tried them on and they sounded above average (I am not an audiophile). I found that the noise cancelling hiss was not that bad. For me batteries are not an issue they may be for some people though (they last around 20 hours maybe a little bit more). I would like if the wire was black instead of red because the headphones are grey and black. I'm not sure if its brushed aluminum or plastic i think some is plastic and some is brushed aluminum

Pros -

*Solid Feel

*Noise Cancelling

*Detachable Headphone Wire

*Extremely Comfortable

*Mute button on right ear cup

*Nice Design

*folds nicely (2 ways)

*magnetic battery door with ribbon to hold it on

*nice soft headband (i think pleather)

*nice soft ear cups (i think pleather also)

After an abysmal experience with past Beats by Dre headphones, I had to try these on when I saw them to see if there was any improvement. And the answer is ....NO! The only reason to buy these is if you have absolutely no experience with what good sound quality is and have a ton of money to just waste on crap, or you're obsessed with Dr. Dre or want to look "cool" in front of your friends and buy these for the name and brag about how much they cost. I have no idea how Beats stays in business and continues to make headphones even though they are cheap, plasticky, bad quality and are probably worth about $20. I guess just enough people are lured in by the Dr. Dre name to keep it profitable. Pitiful! A savvy buyer should never get these.
