Prior to buying this box, I had my DAW's analog output directly connected to my studio monitors and used an old stereo receiver as a headphone amp. I would not have expected the Central Station to make such a huge difference to my way of working but it's been incredibly convenient to be able to control the system volume with a real knob, switch between studio monitors and a cheap boombox and to have the built-in headphone amp with plenty of volume. I can't explain why but being able to run my sound card (Digital Audio Labs CardDeluxe) at full output has made my mixes come out better in the form of crisper sound and better separation of instruments. Next step is to hook up the DAW's digital output to the CS so that I can have a custom headphone mix and leave it up during the tracking process without disrupting whatever mix decisions I've made. This box did exactly what I needed and helped me streamline my workflow without degrading my audio quality.

I've got a very clean signal path, excellent converters, excellent monitors (Genelec), I do all my matrixing and routing through an Audient ASP510, and all I wanted the Central Station for was talkback and the cue send to talent. I liked the fact that I could move the remote control around the room, so the client could use it and the rest of the time the engineer could use it.

I have three complaints: (1) for no reason it completely fails to pass signal and must be unplugged and started up again, (2) it overheats, and (3) oh my god it has the worst-sounding talkback mic I have ever heard. It desperately needs a hi-pass filter on the talkback circuit because it sounds like some evil demon of low frequency RUMBLE has taken over the sound whenever the TB mic is keyed. It DOES have an XLR input for a mic of my choice, but guess what? It has no phantom power, so condenser mics need not apply for the job. Total bust/total crap. The talent complain every time and I don't blame them.

One more gripe for good measure -how about some XLR inputs? Does everything have to be phono plugs?

Super cheap unit. I refuse to pass my mix buss through it, and people who praise the sound have no idea what good sound is. Take it from someone who owns Bryston SST amps and has been in the business of sound since 1983. Looking to sell mine on ebay right now.

Firstly, yes, it is not a coiled cable as shown in the picture here but a straight one. This is a quality item with substantial plugs on both ends and a thick cable between them. Note that the plugs on both ends are really thick and long about 3 inches long. Though the cable is thick, it is not as thick as the one on my Denon AH-D5000 headphone for which i have purchased it. And its REALLY long. So if you need a long, quality extension for your higher quality headphones, this fits the bill.

I am using this a a replacement for the 1/8" 20' extension cord that I was using from my home stereo to my headphones. Because this is a 1/4" cord, it is much heavier and less likely to get broken (my previous problem). I was originally using a 1/4"-1/8" adapter at the headphone jack of my receiver to a 1/8" cord to a set of headphones with a 1/8" jack (a cheaper set of Sennheiser headphones). I replaced the cord after it broke and bought a better pair of Sennheiser headphonese with a 1/4" jack at the same time. The setup is working flawlessly and the sound is awesome!

By the way, this cord is not coiled as the picture indicates, it is actually just a straight cord.

Very, very happy! This cable was better than expected. I was using a radio shack cable and losing about 20% of quality. Happily I decided to step up to a pro level.

I listen to my music through my recording studio bought in the mid-ninties. My goal, to hear the music as heard by the artist in the recording studio.

With the 24bit mapping of remasters this can be acomplished. I'm listening to my music through a 40k dollar electronic music chain. The weak link was the headphone cable.

I use some mid-ninties AKG240DF studio headphones. They are 100% flat. I hear the mix and master much like in the studio. This 20ft cable gives me better sound than my studio headphones directly into my board! This amazed me! I'm hearing more details. I have produced both audio and video for thirty plus years. I believe when mixing I can hear 1/3 db difference! So if you want studio quality audio, this is a great route to go. If you want to drink a six pack and don't care about sound go the Radio Shack route.

Also you should invest in Pro-headphones. Comsumer audio ia -minus 10, pro audio is plus 4. Go the pro route if you love music and audio. Blow away everryone with studio quality sound. Nothing better. This cable is better than I expected! the price is worth the quallity. Take this from a Pro.

Update: Din't' even last two years. Tripped on a couple times and is now worthless. Bought another cuz I don't have time to dink around when recording. So as Pro as these seemed they didn't last in a Pro enviro. Disposalble would be my new word. I like the product but studio and road work is tough. this cable is prissy.

Who cares about whether the cable is straight or coiled? If it works...it works!! This Planet Waves headphone extension cable is awesome! I have it connected to a Sony 9 meter extension, and then to my Vic Firth headphones. I need 2 extension cords as my drum set is a little ways away from my stereo. All adapters work perfect and there is no degradation whatsoever! I would recommend this to anyone, and the price is reasonable!

I'm very happy with this extension. I just wanted a good solid quality extension for my headphones (ATH AD700) without losing any of the great sound I get from them.

The only negative reviews this cord seems to have relates to the coiled/not coiled issue which does not affect my purchase. I prefer non but it wouldn't have mattered too much. This is a straight cord and you can see a couple of photos I posted for the cord by the initial description.

The 20 foot is perfect. I almost went with the ten foot but I'm so glad I got this one. I figure as long as I can't notice any difference in sound quality, I'd rather have the longer cord.

Highly recommend unless you feel like spending more money.

I tried some tests to see if there was any change in the sound output in my headphones when using the extension. I want to say there is a very slight change in the sound (ever so slightly muffled), but if it does exist it's not definitively recognizable; I'd have to run a blind experiment to know for sure.

The connections it makes on both ends are firm connections; there was no wiggle experienced with anything I've used it with so far. In fact, the female end seems to really snap in tightly with headphone jacks, which is great because it won't just slip out with a small accidental yank on the cord.

The only thing to note is that the cable I received is 5ft long, not 6ft, so keep that in mind should you require precise measurements (I did). I contacted the seller about this and they responded quickly (they said they made a mistake in labeling the product page) and were able to refund my order the same day.

Even with the error, they were prompt and courteous so I would do business with them again!

When I first got this cable, I was convinced it was garbage. Horrible feedback or almost no sound, constantly twisting and adjusting.

Whoops, I didn't have the female end seated all the way on the male end of my speakers. You really have to press hard til it clicks into place. Then it works perfectly. Now I can swap from headphones to speakers without having to crawl around behind my PC.

The 3.5 mm male-to-female extension cable works as expected. I had a sucky steroe system whose cable was just 1 feet and wanted to connect it to my source which was at 3 feet distance. I looked up this product on Amazon & purchased it. The order was delivered on-time & I started using it the same evening. It works as advertised. I don't notice any significant change in the sounds the quality has remained the same.

I'm not running into any fit issues, which I think is the core of many low scores; especially since proper fit for in-ear buds directly relate to sound quality.

Anyways, I'm not an audiophile but I expect to get what I paid for and with these Sol Republic has not disappointed. They fit me perfectly and sound wonderful, which I couldn't say for the Skullcandy Aviators they replaced. I'd happily admit they sound better than said Aviators.

Listening to a wide range of genres, they hold their own. The sound feels round and warm, perhaps lacking ever so slightly in what I think is referred to as the middle range, however, it could just be music I'm listening to. The bass is punchy and gives that 'feel the bass' feeling.

I appreciate the style of them quite a bit, and love the ribbon cord. They come with a rubbery case which, honestly, won't see much use. I like these buds enough that I'd likely pickup a hardshell 'travel' case to make sure they survive a trip in my backpack or satchel.

Everything just sounds great, I don't think I could elaborate further. Try them out or not, thanks for taking the time to read of my opinion.

These headphones from my 10 minutes of experience with em so far have PHENOMENAL sound! WOW! They're also beautiful, so far comfortable and just plain cool, HOWEVER these headphones were made for Apple devices which I did not know upon purchasing, therefore they do not work with my Samsung Galaxy S3. I can't use the microphone feature which I'm sure is lovely but that means, no voice commands, & no calls. Can't even use the volume control. Because Apple has their own standard for 3.5mm jacks despite there already being a universal standard in place, I can't enjoy these pieces of audio artwork. So if you're an iphoner....have at em. For the rest of us, you may want to check compatibility with your device first. Thanx again apple for ruining yet another great thing!

I may have unusual requirements for in-ear headphones. Since I travel a lot, I prioritize:

1. Rugged enough to be shoved into pockets running through airport security, check-in, boarding, taxis, etc.

2. Cord doesn't tangle when trying to pull headset from my pocket while answering my phone.

3. Microphone in good location, where the two individual ear wires merge into the single cord.

4. Noise isolating.

5. Fits into ear firmly enough to stay in place while running, traveling, or other physical activity.

6. Soft enough it doesn't hurt my ear.

7. Sounds good.

I've had plenty of failures. I have a set of (expensive) Klipsch that doesn't sound much better, feels fragile, and the cord gets tangled on everything. I had a great set of Shure (also expensive) but the wires were fragile and eventually frayed under usage. Others had the microphone hanging from one of the ear pieces (instead of where the wires merge) and had audibility problems. From this perspective, the SOL is close to ideal. I don't particularly like the large disk, which doesn't seem to serve a purpose and makes the earpieces bulky.

I'm generally not using the in-ears for critical listening, so sound quality isn't the top priority. If I'm wanting quality, I have a different set of priorities. However, the SOLs sound good relative to other in-ear sets in the $100-$200 category.

I have become a pretty dedicated Sol Republic fan when it comes to my music and sound. When I purchased this item, I had a good idea of what to expect based upon other reviews and it came just as I thought it would be. For the cheap price of about $30, the material quality of these headphones aren't 100%. Needless to say, the cord is a soft and smooth plastic, so it was good enough for me. But the sound? The sound is amazing. I am a big fan of bass, and I have to say that the bass in these headphones are really superb. I also enjoy listening to a lot more acoustic and relaxed music, which some claimed sounded terrible on these, but I found nothing wrong. Everything was really clear to me.

Overall, I think it was a great buy. They still look very stylish no matter how they feel, and as with anything you purchase, they will last a solid amount of time as long as you take care of them. If you want good sound for a cheap price, these are the headphones to get.

Nice lightweight high-quality cable extension that works in the maddening recessed jack of the iPhone without adding too much length. Let me preface by saying these cables are the perfect length for fitness. I vigorously exercise (think Crossfit and beyond) at least 5-6 days a week, and wear my Ipod on my upper bicep. I route the cable under my sleeve and up the collar to prevent snagging and bouncing. This setup has worked very well for me for the last 5 years or so. I've gone through about 5-6 of these cables over the last 5 years and I'm on my 3rd pair of Shure earphones (SE115, 2x SE210). Considering the amount of use, the sweat dripping in and on, bumps, etc... they have all lasted well beyond my expectations and are well worth the money. The wraparound design is absolutely tremendous for working out... they don't fall out whether I'm upside down, jumping, running, sprinting, etc. This cable is a most excellent companion to such great earphones.

The downfall of this cable is that over time, with the hard use I give it, the way I route it, and the constant bending of the cable at the jacks, one of the connections will eventually fail and the sound will begin to cut in and out, one ear or the other. I've tried to repair it, but it would take an expert with a soldering iron to get it correctly working again. For $15 bucks and about a year of VERY hard use, I consider it a consumable item and worth the money.

I give it 5 stars for being the perfect length, with a caveat that I feel the jacks are a weak point. As the previous reviewer said, the male input jack is skinny enough to get into most cases.

This works for audio BUT not with an iPhone earbuds for volume or a Square CC terminal. The pin DOES fit even with my case on my iPhone BUT it is 3 pin rather than 4.

The only reason I didn't give this a 5 was the hope that I could perhaps attract a little more attention and warn potential buyers of two things:

Before buying this, I measured 9" from the end of the wire attached to the earphones to my belt I 'wear' my iPod clipped to my belt. It clearly was long enough. I'm 5'7" with a slightly longer than average torso for a man of my height.

What I didn't account for, and you should, is that:

. I have to turn my head an extreme angle when crossing some streets. I found I can only do this by placing the iPod holder towards the middle of my belt

. In cooler weather, I wear a sweater or sweatshirt. The speaker wire can only go under it, not over.

Another, perhaps more obvious caution. Before buying a new extension cable of any length, make sure it is your current one that has the problem by plugging the actual cable directly into your device. While it is true that the connectors may have problems over time, it is equally true that the same may happen with the actual speaker wire. If that is the case, excellent product that this is, doing everything as stated admirably, your listening experience will not be improved.

Hope this has been helpful to some.

The extension cable is fine. I just should have ordered a longer one! I do not know what I was thinking!

I bought my Shure earbuds a few years ago and I have enjoyed them immensely. After a while, one of the ear bud sleeves started coming loose and eventually got lost. I stopped using the earbuds and made do with cheaper head phones. Buying these earbud sleeves was a great decision. I only wish I had done it sooner since I spent over a year not using my earbuds and they put ordinary ones to shame. These are the OEM sleeves that fit the unit perfectly and are quite comfortable.

These are EXACTLY like the Westone ear tips that are originally included with that IEM. That original pair lasted me over a year but it eventually got worn down and slid off the nozzle. These are my preferential ear-tips for optimum sound quality. I absolutely hate the foam ones as IMO they absorb some of the sound frequency and get dirty real quick. These are awesome sounding once you get them seated in and sealed in the ear canal. Make sure you get the correct size for your ear canal!

These are the soft sleeves not the squishy foam ones. they fit my se425s perfectly. Its one of those things you just need.

What more to say, these are what they say they are. Obviously only for people with shure headphones, but if you like these headphone sleeves this is a good way to get a whole lot more. My advice is that you have some sort of case to hold the extras since the box that they come in is not really up to the task of long term storage after it's been opened.

The product arrived safe and sound, well packaged and delivered about a day ahead of the promised delivery date. Good instructions for how to set it up, etc. However, I was not able to use this as a direct connect with my Toshiba Camileo camcorder, which is why I purchased it. As it turns out you need some sort of amplifier and this was probably originally designed for folks with music systems, etc. or people who just happen to be recording their video while standing close to their connection-enabled TVs. Not unhappy with it, it just did not meet my business need.

Aesthetically, these headphones are beautiful. They look amazing and like the article mentioned, I had a hard time choosing between the two colors. I decided to go with the red and blacks. But the color schemes alone take you back to the Jordan days. They feel sturdy and expensive. Just overall, they look and feel definitely like a high end and high quality headphone.

Now on to sound: I think they are great and produce a high quality sound. I feel that they do really well in isolated high treble areas (more vocals and less bass) and they do really well in isolated Bass and beats sounds but when they are combined, the bass tends to fall in the background. I'm a person that loves vocals and lyrics a lot so I notice that a lot. I have a lot of friends that love the beat and bass more than anything and could probably listen to a beat with a random hook. I think people who focus on Bass will not particularly get the full use and feel of these headphones because they amplify everything else involved in the tracks, but, on the other hand, music lovers and eclectic tastes will no doubt be satisfied. That intense sensitivity the article mentions is truly prevalent when listening to well mastered tracks and albums.

I love how you can separate the different components of a song and truly hear the music and sound. I enjoy how it eliminates the outside sound and essentially zones you out from the rest of the world. "Plug in, Fade out" could not be a more perfect slogan, not only because it sounds great but because its very true. I found myself lost in my music while running and have to pull the headphones off my ears a couple times to make sure I wasn't blasting the music to loud to disturb others. I love how they can fit around my entire big-ass ear. I did get a little irritated using them while running but I think that is just from switching from in-ear headphones to over-ear ones. I just need to get used to the feel since I've been using in-ear headphones for the past 5 years or so.

Overall, these headphones have been great. They've helped me escape from the problems and realities of the world, as well as, allowing me to focus on those same issues and life itself. You won't be worried about anything but the music; simply what headphones should do.

Before buying these I was definitely skeptical ... Most headphones these days aren simply hyped up due to the endorsement they receive or the advertising budgets they have. The crown series definitely did not disappoint ... I have a pair of the Beats by Dre and comparing the two ... The beats seem very bass heavy and made out of junky plastic and everyone knows they cost a fortune. Plugged Inc's Crown series hit the nail on the spot. They feel snugg on top of your ears and deliver a perfect blend of highs, mids, and lows. No sloppy bass or hollow treble. You also get a detachable, gold plated cable with track control and a mic which is compatible with the iPhone.

The headphones are loud in design and loud in general. I am looking forward to the rest of their products ... Few things I would hope for (Im sure they are headed in that direction) ... is on OVER the ear headphones ... maybe a carrying case ... and/or customization in the colors. A black matte finish would look sick!

I am, by absolutely no means, a musician. But, I am what I would consider a great lover of music. That being said, I've always had a creative side and have always wanted the ability to manipulate sound. If you're looking for something that's very easy to use and that will give you hours and hours and hours of entertainment then look no further than the Electribe. This is the noisiest sampler on the planet. Sounds great when playing the sounds out of the 3/4 outputs but the main L/R outs are horrible! They route it through the tubes which has a massive amount of hiss even when not using tube gain. You can not run the effects through 3/4 so those outputs are useless, unless you are using them to run a VC beat clock to another unit.

I've been performing with mine for a decade and I can't wait to get it out of my signal chain. I have used other samplers and this thing simply sounds like garbage. If you buy this you might want to buy a hiss reducer unit to run on it.

The features are just ok. Very limited!! For exampleYou can only run a looped sample on a keyboard part which there are only 2 of. LAME! etc...

This is a good low cost, quality cable that does the job. Make sure you check the inputs on whatever devices you are connecting with the cable because this one has a different connector on one of the ends.
