anyone intend to buy this cables for headphones should also get an adapter for the 3.5mm port recess. some headphone with 3.5mm jack which is detachable kind, due to the form factor unable to fit entirely. For audiophiles intend to take it along for mobility,FYI the cable is solid stiff unlike ordinary cable which is softer easy to drape it around neck/shoulder to waist. Overall it is a premium first grade hi-end product.well built for desktop/immobility usage.

I received this product for Christmas and I was ecstatic to start DJing. After playing around with it for a few days, I truly found out that this new package was not too shabby. It's very durable and easy to use, with the added bonus of an iPod dock, where you can record your mixes straight onto your iPod. Since I'm a beginner, having less knobs and buttons really helped me understand the fundamental concepts of Djing. My only problem is that the CD players don't scratch; they only bend the pitch and search through the song. All in all, if you're Djing for the first time, and you want to get started somewhere, this is definitely the setup to begin with.

I really like the mixer it is awesome to dj from one cd to ipod too another cd then back to ipod etc. I really had so much fun with it. The only thing i dont like about the cd players is that it does'nt show you the bpm of your tracks so you have to use your head and count the beats in the song that you are playing but other than that for a beginner like myself this is perfect!

This review is for CASIO CTK-2080.

I normally do not buy electronics until I read lots of reviews on it. But I must admit this was an impulse buy. I bought this at a target store when I saw it at clearance price of fifty bucks. I was totally taken by the size of the box and the weight. Even kids toy keyboard cost $25 bucks so I figured how bad could this be for $50? Well, I was pleasntly surprised at the quality of the sound and features. Please keep in mind that I'm not a piano player, just wanna be at best. So, when I say sound quality is good, it is good to someone who is not a piano player :).

What's in the box:

1. Keyboard

2. Keyboard stand (you have to put it together)

3. AC Adaptor for Keyboard

4. Music sheet holder

5. Song book (Music sheet 90 songs)

What is not included but I wished it was is the sustain pedal. Oh well.

Keyboard comes with 110 song banks, 150 rhythems, and 400 tones. I have not played with any of the tone other than the grand piano. To me it sounds good. Keys are not weighted like the high-end models (might have to pay upwards of $200+ for that I think) and since I didn't have a sustain pedal at hand, I couldn't tell you how well it works. Volume is fairly decent but I do have to crank it to almost mid high or high. But I'm going to hook it up to my peavey keyboard amp so that is not going to be an issue for me :). Music sheet holder is a nice touch but since I can't read them I won't be using much at the beginning. But this will definitely come handy down the road.

If you want to know the songs and tones, take a look at the picures I posted.

Stand (you need to assemble) is decent. After i put it together, when I stood it, at first it didn't balance properly on hardwood floor. The direction to put stand together wasn't very helpful. At the end, I just used some common sense and after moving it to carpet, it is working fine.

On the back, there is an output/phones jack, so that you can hook up your headphone or in my case a peavey amp. Also a port for sustain pedal, audio-in and usb port for connection to PC. Since it does have sampling capability, if you know what you are doing, you do a lot. It does do MIDI if you are interested.

All in all I'm very pleased with the product given the price. Keyboard with similar features and quality would be worth at least $120 to $150 in yamaha or some other brand.

I bought this keyboard from a store after reading several descriptions online that said it was touch sensitive

it is not touch sensitive.

I believe this was unintentional by the retailers the ctk 2080 ,2200,2300,and 3200 share the same manual.

if you read carefully only the ctk 3200 has the touch response.

The original Korg Wavedrum was a quick success in 1994 for it's unique design and sounds (designed by a father specifically to help his musically challenged son). Sonically richer and programmable, the 2nd generation Wavedrum was introduced a couple years ago. At just 13" in diameter, the updated Wavedrum might have added plastic parts but still feels like a professional instrument with even a tensionable head. Scraping a stick across side ridges are but one aspect of a completely unique playing experience and truly organic sound. Connectors include 1/4" in and out, Aux in, and headphone jack. Alas, it's lack of MIDI ports and clunky interface are limitations. Needing to be plugged in, moreover, limits portability.

You may also want to consider last year's Mini Wavedrum. It is not just smaller, lighter, and cheaper. It's a wholly different animal targeting perhaps a singer-songwriter looking for accompaniment in a live setting rather than a simple percussion instrument for a studio musician (whether pro or amature). And so, the Mini has a built-in speaker and battery option (6 AAs). It has but a simple cheap and non-adjustable rubber pad rather than the outstanding tactile skin of the fullsized Wavedrum (and so, I give it but 4 stars). The completely unique feature of this puppy is the clip microphone sensor that makes every surface (book cover, shoe, table top, etc) a new playing experience. Although sounds can be tweaked, there's no longer the editable instruments (with but a fraction of the big brother's features). Bottom line, it's hard to predict what sounds the clip or the pad will produce (both are velocity sensitive) ... but, this is also it's charm. If you were hoping for a cheaper Wavedrum, you'll be disappointed. But, while the mini is more of just a fun toy it's still a very fun little instument for the spontaneous jam. It makes any table drummer sound like a million (alas, sometimes the hand-strike can be louder than the speaker but headphones work great). Still no MIDI interface and you can't store anything you create.

Both will appeal to musicians who value a truly original performance, or to any beginner simply looking to enjoy playing a musical instrument (what it was in fact designed for).

I've been looking to get a wavedrum for over a year, and the wait was worth it. I'm really impressed with the expression you can get with this. I'd recommend getting some mallets, as they strike a less sharp sound than drum sticks. The palm mutes and hand playing are great too. My only complaint, which you can fix, it's quiet out of the box, turn on the 2x volume option. Once that was set, it's just a matter of setting what you like.

I already owned the much more expensive Roland Handsonic HPD-15, which I have been using for years. The Handsonic is a terrific electronic hand-drum unit, with a huge amount of sampled percussion. I had tried the Wavedrum in a music store years ago, loved it, but couldn't justify buying yet another electronic percussion unit. The price dropped when the Wavedrum standard was discontinued and was so cheap I couldn't resist. I only saw the cheap price for a short time, then it disappeared.

The Wavedrum is a different, and much more organic and responsive instrument. The combination of the real head (not rubber) modeled synthesis, samples, and piezo pickups adds up to an instrument that feels and plays like a real drum.

The array of sounds is fine, albeit not nearly as complete as the Handsonic. The Wavedrum is programmable, but the interface is terrible a few digits or letters in a tiny red rectangle which are hard to decipher.

There is no MIDI, or a way to connect to a computer, but the Wavedrum was designed for musicians to play, and a joy it is to do just that.
