My last extension cord tore after the wife accidentally got it caught up in the vacuum cleaner. I needed a replacement but was flabbergasted at the prices the local brick and mortar stores were charging. I went online and found the Hosa Straight Extension Cable.

This cable does the job it is meant to do with no extras. I cannot attest to the longevity of the product but it has withstood several months now of daily use without any tearing. I also do not detect any loss of quality or sound when in use.

Overall, a worthwhile purchase that I am happy with.

The quality of this instrument is okay as it is not a finely crafted work.

Cons: The cheap quality bridge transfers the sound to the piezoelectric pickup poorly (I cut and fitted a new bridge to solve, though someone less skillful may need a shop to do this), the bridge is a centimeter or two too close to the tail of the instrument, this affects the fingering a bit, and the pegs are not fitted to their holes and only barely fit the holes in some cases. The tail piece needs replacement as the fine tuners are stiff and barely useable (though this is somewhat remedied by replacing the bridge with one properly fitted, and a little bit of grease on the threads). The rosin and headphones are good for use in a scrap heap?

Pros: The chin rest and pegs are made of the same beautiful wood, and are well crafted. The bow that comes with it is decent quality and has good balance. The instrument holds its tuning well once properly tuned. Though the case is cheap, everything fits well and protects from shocks as it is made from cloth covered form fitted Styrofoam. Once the strings are replaced with decent quality strings, the instrument has a nice warm sound and even though it is electric, can still be heard fairly well without using headphones.

Overall, for a first time electric violin, and as a practice instrument this has a good value for its price, since quality electric violins run on the upside of $700 (the piezoelectric pickup is $120 alone.) This is exactly what I needed as I hate to annoy my neighbors in my apartment complex by playing in the wee hours of the night.

For just a little more than a toy keyboard you can get something that really works. This keyboard can do up to four notes at once, so children can learn about both chords and melodies. The sound quality is better than I expected considering the price, and it run on nice cheap AA batteries that can be bought in bulk. Battery changing is easy.

The one downside is that the lowest volume level isn't all that low. It's impossible to just play this quitely at a volume level low enough so that only the one playing can hear. Also, it comes with a microphone, and when that is plugged in, the sound can be heard all over the house with the volume set to it's lowest level.

Edit Jan 21 2011: And yes, it comes with a headphone jack just in case the volume won't go low enough. So, since that's my primary gripe with this thing, I changed my review to five stars.

So, it's a nice way to introduce children to music, but it's a loud way because it doesn't allow a truly low volume setting.

Buy Casio SA-75 Keyboard with Headset Microphone Now

This keyboard is just a decent noise-maker for kids. I bought it so I would have a portable musical reference for a college music theory course.

Two complaints, one small, one huge:

No big deal, but the "tones" you can select from sound pretty weak, although there are a bunch to choose from so it's not hard to find something that sounds okay.

But it really irks me that you can't play more than four keys at the same time! If you have any experience with the piano you're going to find this shortcoming completely unacceptable.

Two bits of praise:

There is a digital display showing both the treble and bass clef staves. When you hit a key the display shows you where the pitch falls on the staves. Ingenious! Perfect for beginners just learning.

Very lightweight and portable.

Conclusion: Great for kids, but don't even think about it if you have been playing for any amount of time.

The Product Description recommends this for, "the young or beginning musician". I can also recommend it for a female singer who is NOT a pianist.

I wanted a small, lightweight keyboard just to learn vocal parts. This is perfect. The keys are too short for a man's hands and take a bit of getting used to, but the stated 4 1/2 pound weight is well worth it.

I love it!

My wife and I are professional musicians and teachers, so we are quite discerning and expect a lot when it comes to musical instruments, even if they are inexpensive electronic keyboards. Although this keyboard does what it says and basically is as described, there are a few design quirks that could have easily been remedied which would have made this an exceptional keyboard, rather than just a mediocre one.

First--and I think this was mentioned in other reviews--the volume issue is extremely annoying. Even at the lowest setting, it is pretty loud. If you are planning on giving this to a child, watch out! Every time you turn it on, it resets to the loudest volume setting. Our son is two years old, and he's figured out the surest way to annoy us: keep turning the keyboard off and on, which resets the volume to full blast mode. He really enjoys this, of course, but it annoys us to no end. We are mystified as to why Casio didn't design this keyboard to reset a medium volume setting or even the lowest volume. The loud setting is too loud even for us, and we live and breathe music.

Furthermore, every time the keyboard is turned off and on, not only is it super loud, but it resets to a awful-sounding hip-hop version-sounding Beethoven's Ode to Joy. They could have easily designed this to stay on the last song selection. There should be an option to allow people to let it store the last song.

Our last main complaint is that it's not as easy as it should be play the keyboard along with the stored songs. Casio really expects you to only play a melody with the songs, hence the very limited four-voice polyphony (this means that you can only play four notes at once). If you want to play a full chord with a root, third, fifth and seventh (a V7 or MM7 chord, for example) or a 9th chord along with a melody, you are out of luck. It will only let you play four notes at once, so your chords (such as a left hand accompaniment) will be limited to triads. For a little more money, you can purchase a keyboard that has 16-note polyphony, which will allow you to play true accompaniment with melodic lines.

There is no pedal jack, which might not be that big a deal for a beginner, but somewhat limits your learning how to play a keyboard.

Other than the previously mentioned quirks, the keyboard is somewhat well made. There are 100 "tones" (poor-sounding keyboard sounds, such as piano, electric piano, organ, etc.--the Amazon summary says "top notch", but they're not), 30 patterns (rock, swing, samba, waltz, etc.), and 10 songs. This keyboard supposedly allows you to turn off the melody, but apparently, will not allow you to do that with the all of the songs in the sound bank--just a few, such as the Skater's Waltz. When you turn off the melody, you can play along, but otherwise, you can't. This seems silly to us. The quality of the songs themselves is OK at best, as you would expect from a low-end Casio keyboard. (You can play will all of the patterns, however.) If you're expecting a real orchestral or rock band sound, you're in for a surprise. It sounds like a merry go round toy. Our son doesn't know the difference (and many consumers won't care), but we can tell.

The LCD screen is OK, but very tiny, and our guess is that most people will ignore it. The staff that the notes appear on is less than an inch wide, which is NOT at all how musicians read music. They could have easily made the LCD screen 3 times longer so you could see three notes at once, or even a whole phrase. After all, when you start to read real music, you will read off a whole page, not a tiny LCD screen, one note at a time.

It's not all bad: the keyboard includes a headphone jack and the batteries last a long time, which is great.

All in all, if you don't have a child, this keyboard might prove adequate for learning how to play a melody with a pattern or song, but there are certainly other options out there that are a LOT better than this one. If we could do it all over again--and we probably will--we will definitely purchase a different keyboard. As an educational tool, we have to give this "two thumbs down."

The price is right and my children love it.

Regarding a power adapter, I found some really useful advice by another reviewer.

"I've noticed a lot of people here were having a hard time finding the right adapter for their specific keyboards, and I've got a solution. You don't actually need to buy a Casio brand adapter to fit your Casio keyboard (matching model numbers can be tricky online). Here's a foolproof method for finding the right adapter every time;

On the back or underside of your keyboard, there should be a voltage rating (which looks like a number followed by 'V'. For example, '9V' or '8V') and a milliamp rating (which looks like a larger number followed by 'mA'. For example, '850mA' or '900mA').

With those two numbers, you can find the exact adapter you need. :) For example, my keyboard is rated '9V 850mA', which looks like a bunch of gobbldeygook until you type it into a search engine or show it to a salesperson at any electronics or toy store. Almost all adapters are rated this way and regardless of the manufacturer (i.e. Casio, Yamaha), you'll always get the exact adapter you need when using voltage and milliamp numbers. Just be sure the other end of the adapter is the right fit for your input jack, and you're all set."

I am not good with any computer stuff. I bought this version after reading good reviews of the older version. Found it dead simple to use. Copying mixed tapes that I used to listen to in my truck. New truck only has a CD player. It only took a few minutes to set up for me that's a miracle! Liked that it plugged into the headphone jack. Having to climb behind my stereo would be a nightmare. The software is excellent! I had no trouble recording or cutting up any tracks. The manual covers all steps clearly with large pictures. Saving into iTunes takes only one button press. I have already recorded 50 cassette tapes and have loads more. You don't have to sit around and watch it record it has a timer. Gets my stamp of approval!

I bought this to copy records I hadn't listened to in years. Set up is easy. I read the short manual, installed the software, plugged it into the headphone outlet on my receiver and USB port on my laptop. Works fine. Cutting up the recording into tracks takes a little practice, but after first one or two recordings it's no problem. I am using Vista and had no problems with the software.

At first I wanted to turn my old cassette tapes into MP3's, however I didn't want to get anything that only worked with one device and then I found this. It was even better than what I was expecting. I can use this on devices like computers, iPods, tablets, TVs, radios, etc. The software is OK, but the hardware and sound quality is great. I recommend Windows 7 for the best experience.

  • Although computer-based recording has experienced a huge boom inrecent years, for many the process can seem like an obstruction to beingmusically creative. There's a reason for the existence of engineers andproducers: they allow musicians to focus on their performance withoutbeing preoccupied with how it will sound on tape (or disc, as the casemay be in the digital world). Having pioneered world-class guitar andbass tone in a software package with the Guitar Rig titles, it onlymakes sense that Native Instruments would take it one step further andcreate a complete hardware and software solution that makes it easy formusicians to record their songs. That solution is Guitar Rig SESSION.
  • The heart of this package is the compact, brushed aluminum SESSIONI/O interface. Its 4-3/4" x 4" footprint fits in the tightest spaces, yet this little box has all the connectivity a singer-songwriter needsto record guitar, bass, and vocals over a fast USB 2.0 connection.Channel 1 has both an XLR and 1/4" input, and another 1/4" input isoffered for channel 2. As a bonusmobile feature, SESSION I/O is bus-powered, so you don't need to haularound a wall wart. I mainly bought this for the usb 2.0 interface, because the new Macbook comes with only one firewire port, which I'll be using for an external hard drive while I record. I was nervous about usb, but this little unit had such good reviews and I got it on sale. So far, it works like a charm. The guitar software is the icing on the cake, and the icing tastes pretty darn good. I especially like some of the sounds I can make with my fretless P. Still waiting, though, on NI to bump me up from 3 to 4 as promised, since I bought this just before the new edition was released. My plans are to plug a vintage portable Mackie mixer through the NI hardware and record using Logic Express. A pretty nifty little set-up without busting the bank.

2012 is almost over and this product may be a little old but I decided to buy one anyway and I'm glad I did. It works great so far. Installed the software/drivers on windows 7 x64 bits version, plugged the card and my guitar and everything was working properly right away. Latency is low (great), so it does not only work for my guitar but also for my synth and MIDI controller. Seems to work with Cubase 5 as I have just recorded with it. Got it for less than $50 used. I decided to buy this audio interface to use it with my laptop, in order to have some mobility and be able to play and record demos.

Reading the customer reviews for products with similar prices from other companies, and considering that it comes with a simpler version of Guitar Rig 3, I tought it was the best choice.

The Guitar software is great, the unit is small and cool, well served with ins and outputs.

It took a considerable time to put it to work on my laptop running Windows Vista, but now it is working fine.

This combination of audio interface and software is good enough to purchase.

I brought this device thinking it would sound fantastic, but as recordings are played back there are pops and crackles, I followed all the advice on NI web site to the letter, only way to have no pops and crackles is to increase the latency, that being the case what's the point when I have had lower latency from a standard sound card? the software that comes with it is very good and the device looks really nice, I emailed customer support and was sent link to helps on web site, although I have done all these steps, It's a real shame as it is a really nice looking interface well set out, feels solid, and comes with a load of nice VST amps and effects, I personally think the drivers are the problem after trying the device with ASIO4ALL and getting slightly better results, this issue may be resolved in the future.

I didn't buy mine off of Amazon, I bought them at Wal-Mart, but I thought I should go ahead and share my opinion.

I've had these for awhile now, at least a year and a half and they've been amazing! the only downside is the thing used to adjust the individual earbud cord length stripped the rubber covering off, but it didn't ruin the sound quality at all.(I just used electrical tape and to cover up the exposed wire. So far,a year later, still going strong) That's the only reason why it's getting four stars instead it of five. And it was most likely my fault. But everything else is amazing.

The last few earbuds I went through before these broke after a few months. These have lasted a long time and I have not been going easy on them. I'm rough with my headphones and I'm surprised these have lasted as long as they have for the price I bought them at. The sound quality is still amazing. I had to turned down the bass because it was a little too much. Not to mention awesome at noise-cancelling. People have to call my name several times before I finally hear them.

If you're just looking for good quality ear buds but don't want to spend an enormous amount of money, get these. They are amazing!

I bought these because I misplaced my iphone earbuds...which I loved. So I purchased these as a replacement and boy can I tell the difference in sound quality. I am a typical girl...I do not care about HDTV, I don't notice or usually care about sound quality...yet this was unmistakably horrid. I made a phone call to try them out, the voice on the other side sounded tinny...then I used the remote to increase the volume and instead it hung up on my caller and started playing my saved mp3. Did not realize this did not have a volume adjustment option. The song is very acoustic yet with this pair it sounded too treble, it made me cringe. I plan to return them ASAP.

I've had these headphones for a few days and they are honestly just okay. They come with replaceable ear tips but they don't range in size. The ear tips are relatively large and I wish they would have packed smaller ones. The sound quality is decent. If you click the microphone it will automatically start playing music (the most recently played song). I noticed with my phone (Motorola Atrix 2) it started playing a song automatically without me pressing anything. It doesn't happen every time and this is the first time I've encountered this happening with other headphones. Some pros are the color variants. I got the hot pink and the color is just what I expected... nice and bright! All in all they are decent for the price. I haven't had them long enough to see about durability and how they fair down a few month's stretch, but we shall see!

As a basshead I love the sound, but they need a better, more durable cord.
