The quality of this instrument is okay as it is not a finely crafted work.

Cons: The cheap quality bridge transfers the sound to the piezoelectric pickup poorly (I cut and fitted a new bridge to solve, though someone less skillful may need a shop to do this), the bridge is a centimeter or two too close to the tail of the instrument, this affects the fingering a bit, and the pegs are not fitted to their holes and only barely fit the holes in some cases. The tail piece needs replacement as the fine tuners are stiff and barely useable (though this is somewhat remedied by replacing the bridge with one properly fitted, and a little bit of grease on the threads). The rosin and headphones are good for use in a scrap heap?

Pros: The chin rest and pegs are made of the same beautiful wood, and are well crafted. The bow that comes with it is decent quality and has good balance. The instrument holds its tuning well once properly tuned. Though the case is cheap, everything fits well and protects from shocks as it is made from cloth covered form fitted Styrofoam. Once the strings are replaced with decent quality strings, the instrument has a nice warm sound and even though it is electric, can still be heard fairly well without using headphones.

Overall, for a first time electric violin, and as a practice instrument this has a good value for its price, since quality electric violins run on the upside of $700 (the piezoelectric pickup is $120 alone.) This is exactly what I needed as I hate to annoy my neighbors in my apartment complex by playing in the wee hours of the night.

I just received my headphone extension cable and I want everyone to know that the 10' cable is a straight cable, and not coiled like some have complained. It has been mentioned that this cable should be straight, and the 20 footer should be coiled. Well, this one is straight, so they've either fixed this "problem" or someone received the wrong product before.

This is a very high quality cable, and built like a tank. It has very heavy connectors, and a hefty cord. The plug and socket are of high quality gold plating. This makes a great extension for my Grado 125i's, and though I'm sure the Grado cable is top-notch, I can't imagine needing a better cable than this. It absolutely does not degrade the sound quality, and in case anyone is wondering, it does not carry along microphonics when you brush against it, like most headphone cables do.

The rest of my system is audiophile grade equipment; Hafler power amp, Cardas speaker cable, Vandersteen speakers, etc., so I'm not easily impressed by inexpensive products. You can buy this cable with confidence.

With so many cheap, junky electronic accessories out there, this item is the perfect illustration of getting what you pay for. This was not a huge investment but unlike a cheap alternative that probably wouldn't have lasted, this cable will probably outlive me. Nice, solid construction and flawless sound. Not as long as I expected. I would recommend the longer alternative but that is not the cable's or manufacturer's fault. I'm sure the Grado cables are very nice but I can't imagine them doing any better of a job. But I haven't heard them. My general philosophy of music equipment is go for very good stuff (usually does 90% of what the esoteric stuff does) and let the rich folk buy the fancy stuff to stroke their egos. Spend a little more, though. Cheap stuff invariably disappoints.

First, this is a quality product, well made, with high quality plugs, jacks and cable.

Having said that, I just wanted to comment that this cable, despite the OFC wire, is not 100% transparent.

I compared the sound in my Shure SRH-1840 headphones without the extension, and then with the extension. The difference was very similar to the difference between the SRH-1840 headphones and excellent quality $100 or $200 headphones. In other words, the cable removed those subtle improvements that are obtained by using a high-end pair of headphones.

So, I suspect that with $100-$200 headphones, there is no loss from using this cable, and in fact, it was another reviewer with $150 headphones who heard no degradation from the cable.

Given this, I can recommend this as a good product and excellent value for anyone with headphones under $200 in cost, and caution those with more expensive headphones that they may lose some of those improvements by using this extension.

This is the perfect length for my needs. I was really worried about a lose in sound quality and almost opted for a more expensive alternative before I found this on amazon. I don't note any different in sound quality and I run it through some pretty decent equipment and through a couple of respectable headphones. The cable feel durable and I think that as long as I don't abuse it it'll last. I'll update this if that's not the case.

I was looking for an extension cord for my headphones that wasn't the coil type and this product fit the bill. Quality and price was very good! Thanks!

I bought these to see what comes at 1/4 the price of the Jabra Sport+

I bought these for bluetooth and FM radio to replace a Sony FM radio headset. I mostly listen to public radio on my bus ride but was interested in adding bluetooth to listen to music on my android phone.

So, I've gotten the phone paired and the sound is really very good rich, fullspectrum, not muddy. The headphones fit well with my glasses on. There is a fair amount of skipping which I think is in the Bluetooth connectivity from the headphones as it doesn't happen when the android is connected to my car bluetooth. I haven't tested receiving a phone call yet.

Now, the weird part. The manual is not just bad it is plain wrong in most instances. I have figured out that after power on the phone goes immediately into BT mode. After a lot of experimentation I discovered that holding the play/pause button for about 2 seconds will switch the phone to fm/mp3. So then I try to tune a station uh, short press of 'scan' button? long press of scan button? I have no idea which works. I just pressed scan a bunch of times and was able to tune the public radio station but nothing else. I think that the 'forward/rewind' buttons choose between 3 presets but I have no idea how to put a station into a preset.

That's about how far I've gotten in two days. There are very recognizable tones emitted that must mean something but I'll have to continuing studying this alien artifact to understand how it works.

That said I will probably keep these since I am think $100 is too much for the Jabra and the only other FM/BT combo is a Sony that has a receiver pendant on wires and I don't want any wires. These do seem to have excellent play and standby time as I have used it on 5, :45 minute bus rides without a charge.

I am, by absolutely no means, a musician. But, I am what I would consider a great lover of music. That being said, I've always had a creative side and have always wanted the ability to manipulate sound. If you're looking for something that's very easy to use and that will give you hours and hours and hours of entertainment then look no further than the Electribe. I hook mine up to a KP3 Kaos Pad and then into a KP3 Effects processer. The end result is a mass of amazing fun. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

This is the noisiest sampler on the planet. Sounds great when playing the sounds out of the 3/4 outputs but the main L/R outs are horrible! They route it through the tubes which has a massive amount of hiss even when not using tube gain. You can not run the effects through 3/4 so those outputs are useless, unless you are using them to run a VC beat clock to another unit.

I've been performing with mine for a decade and I can't wait to get it out of my signal chain. I have used other samplers and this thing simply sounds like garbage. If you buy this you might want to buy a hiss reducer unit to run on it.

The features are just ok. Very limited!! For exampleYou can only run a looped sample on a keyboard part which there are only 2 of. LAME! etc...

I review a lot of headphones for Vine. These in-ear headphones have an oversized drivers. At first glance, these headphones are bigger than most earbuds. These headphones are very comfortable and provide superior external noise reduction compared to other in-ear headphones. This is accomplished by the cone-shaped plastic piece behind the rubber piece which blocks the entrance to your ear like a cork in a bottle.

The sound is way better than less expensive in-ear headphones. There is strong base but it doesn't drown the mids and high which are crisp. A lot of the headphones I review have a problem of too much base and everything else sounding muddy. This is not the case with the ClarityMobile headset which has great sound accross the entire audible spectrun.

There's a rubber case that doubles as a stand for your player. I like it!

SInce this is my third review of Monster headphones; I'm now of the opinion that all of their products are excelllent. They are a little more expensive but I think it's worth it.

Amazon had this on sale, and I like little guitars for travel, practice, and for my kid to use, so I took the bait.

First, the good news:

It works!

The nut width is about 1.65", which is great for an adult as well as a kid.

The scale length is a bit over 21", which means very slinky tension. Easy fretting for a kid, easy bends for everyone.

It's solidly built, and I love the neck. It appears to be maple. No idea what the fretboard is made from, but it seems nice. Definitely not a plastic toy.

Now, the bad news:

Made in China (or someplace with a similar alphabet). Eh, it is what it is.

Fairly cheap Chinese tuners, but they seem to work well and the buttons are actually nice. I don't love the cheap sheet metal plates, though.

Sharp fret ends. Not the end of the world if you have a fret file.

The speaker works, but it's not hi-fi by any means. It sounds like an old AM radio, but what were you expecting, right?

But the worst thing about this guitar is the intonation and the complete lack of intonation adjustment. I may try to experiment with adding material to the bridge to change the intonation, but in the meantime, there's just about no way to play this guitar without it sounding out of tune. This will annoy some people more than others. I can probably live with it for practice and travel.

Bottom-line: it won't replace a REAL guitar, but it's not bad for the intended purpose -learning, travel, practice, goofing off. Much better than a plastic toy.

9/13/2013 update: I replaced the bridge with a hardtail (65mm wide), and now I can control intonation. This $7 replacement bridge helped a ton! It plays in tune now! Heavier gauge strings (I plan to try 11's) might also help by reducing the amount of unintentional bending when fretting.

I purchased a used one of these on ebay for just over $200 and it was in perfect condition. Been running strong on my Dell studio XPS for several months now. Use it with Protools and as the computer's sound card. NO issues. I did however have to spend another $20 to get a firewire PCI card because some of the firewire stuff that Dell uses is cheap and useless. Just make sure you get the updated drivers from Mackie. This blackbird interface use to not work well in Win7. Mackie took their sweet time to fix it but they finally did and this interface packs a serious punch. Super flexible and significantly better than a Digi 003. I'd have a hard time paying full price for this unit though because it's old firewire tech. But for the price you wont find anything else that compares to the quality and functionality of this hardware when combined with the included matrix mixing software the lets you set up special routings.

Pros:

8 pretty good mic pre's with line in's

almost NO LATENCY!!

2 headphone mixes in the front

optical IN's and OUT's

Word clock IN and OUT

2 Firewire ports for chaining

Included software allows you to create customs routings with no limits

Cons:

Might have to upgrade your firewire card( cheap and easy)

old firewire tech (still functional and not a limiting factor for the hardware but might be for your computer)

Protools is VERY picky when interfaces change sample rates. So if your using the Blackbird as the computer interface make sure the computer's sample rate is set to what you usually use in Protools sessions. Otherwise when you launch Protools the Blackbird tries to switch to the Protools sample rate but if it doesn't do it fast enough or at the wrong time Prottols throws a fit and has to close. A trick is if you know what sample rate your planning on using in a protools session right before you open it, change the sample rate in the mackie mixing software that way it doesn't change while Protools is loading.

The preamps are very clean and true tRue to the original signal. I got this to be able to record drums at my home studio and the first session was very successful. The sound quality was really good! I used it in combination with some out board gear and it interfaced great. I have experienced some pops during playback due to a lack of DSP on my computer but only when running a lot of VST UGINS. There is also a little bit of latency while tracking but not too bad. This is a great piece to use in combination with outboard preamps but not recomended for a beginner who wants to record at home.

Mackie is great with making quality products. I have used several different types of audio interfaces through my many years in the music industry. It surprises me how many times companies will let big issues slip through the cracks. Mackie took the time to make sure these did not happen with this latest interface. No cons, professional sounding with Neumann, Rode, AKG and AT mics. While no midi, my maudio connects to Logic through firewire, and I don't feel like I'm missing out with no midi through the Blackbird. Strong in the chain.

The box said it works with Windows 7 32/64 so I bought it. My computer would not see the device, after trolling the user forum (and finding many complaints about the box in Win 7 environment) it was suggested a different firewire card using TI or VIA chipsets be used. 40 dollars later, the Blackbird worked. For 60 seconds. BSod (Blue Screen of Death). Computer crashed repeatedlytook out the card, the software, the rackmount, computer is trashed. New drive arrives today from Amazon, reinstalling Windows and starting over with a Saffire pro 40. If that doesn't work, I'll leave a review as well. So disappointed in Mackie. And no, 5 days later still no response from tech support.

Like the other reviewer, I am using these clamps on my wakeboard tower on my boat. I plan on using them to build a ski boom to the side of my boat for amateur(kids) skiers and wakeboarders to learn. I love that these are aluminum (won't rust) and very heavy duty rated at 1,100 lbs. each.

FYI for a more accurate description, the securing bolt with the wingnut is a 1/2" bolt. The attachment bolt (black) is not fixed in the housing but is a flat head bolt with a hex "slot." It is a 3/8" diameter bolt. It sticks out from the aluminum clamp by 3/4".

I also attached a picture of the black bolt.
