At first glance, you think...'Dang, I'm going to be bustin' outs some awesome drum beats with these sticks.' Unfortunately that's not the case. Since each sound is produced with only 1 stick (either the left or the right) you can't get any rolling type sounds. You can actually bust out better beats tapping with your hands on a table or your lap. Also, the sound isn't produced by tapping the sticks on a surface. You have to actually air drum so your timing can be slightly off. It's like playing the drums on one of those a digital keyboards except you do a drumming motion instead of tapping a keyboard key.

Just bought these for my 4 year-old son at the Discovery Channel Store yesterday. We both had a hard time getting them to work in the store until the salesperson came over and told us you have to put all the movement in through your wrists. Guess what... it worked. Don't know why exactly, but if you try to air drum moving at the elbow or shoulder it won't activate the sticks. Once you get a hang of just using your wrists, it works great and is really a cool gadget.

We hooked it up to the iLit portable speakers we bought...really cool (the speakers change color with each new sound). Or you can just plug earphones or an ipod in, too.

I gave it a 4 instead of 5 stars because the wires are a little short and do get in the way a little if you're plugging into speakers. But, you get used to it. If your plugging into an ipod, then no problem as you can clip it to yourself.

So for all of you who couldn't get them to work and gave them a bad review, it was user error, not the drumsticks! If a 4 year-old can use them, anyone can!!!

We got the guitar too...cool, as well.

We gave these to our daughter for Christmas. She has not put them down! They sound awesome and she has so much fun with them. Her only issue is that when she lets someone else try them, they won't give them back!

She is fourteen, loves music, and dabbles with our real drumset, but the beauty of these are that no one else has to hear them.

We have not tried them on any other mp3 player, just her ipod, but we love them. Definitely worth the $30!

For an avid music fan, this is a real cool toy to play along with your favorite tunes. I am a big audiophile, but I couldn't complain too much about the sound quality of the drum sounds. They sound pretty good considering there really isn't much competition in the market for electronic drumsticks. If i had my way I would design a pair of sticks that simulated a real "hi-hat" sound instead of a ride cymbal sound, and I would also make the hi-hat sound the default sound on the right drumstick and make the ride cymbal and bass drum the two buttons on the right stick.

I would also like to be able to do a snare drumroll with both sticks, but currently due to the design, you can only make a snare sound with the left stick. I would probably add another button onto the right stick to be able to hit both sticks with the same snare sound. What would also be real nice is for the sticks to adjust volume based on how hard you hit the sticks. A lot of keyboards nowadays have that ability and it can really make a difference with drums, especially when doing a crescendo in a song or when drums are played quietly.

It takes some getting used to, but i feel like i'm a pro at drumming along with these sticks. I recommend this to anyone who listens to music while tapping on anything they can find. It is good for practicing rhythm as well and really can add a lot to your songs if you choose to record your work!

I got these for my boyfriend along with the iPod for Christmas and he absolutely loved them. He is a drummer by profession and he said that they were actually really fun to play with. Of course it doesn't sound like a real drum set, but the novelty of it is great! A fun product for the novice, a pro, or someone just wanting to have so fun!

Let me start by saying I've owned the Black ATHM50 (coiled) and the ATHM50W (White), and, being a soldier, they've been through rough times, but they've EACH lasted 2-3 years each. And when I saw that there would be a Red/Black Limited Edition one (2 of my favorite colors) I couldn't RESIST!!!

The ATHM50 series of headphones have a history of being "The best monitor headphones ever", and after owning two (Three now), I've come to first hand experience the unbelievable sound that only Audio-Technica is capable of. Now, I've had a GOOD few pair of headphones (ranging from $20-$150) from the past 7 years I've been interested in music, sound design, and finally sound engineering, so I've had a good run with plenty of different brands of headphones before buying the ATHM50's. From the day they arrived, to the day that they died, I've fallen in love with these Headphones.

I initially bought them because I wanted to be able to hear EVERY SINGLE THING in a song, and these babies do just that. The tiniest sounds in music can be heard with these headphones, and you'll be simply ASTONISHED at what you miss with other headphones. I'll breakdown the important aspects of these headphones below.

Highs: Crispier than Krispy Kreme Donughts. Wow, that was a bad reference... But in any case, the Highs are crisp, clear, and laser precise. Nothing escapes these headphones.

Mids: Vocals are ESPECIALLY good with these headphones. Mids are very warm an feel nice against the other amazing sounds being resonated from the ATHM50's

Lows: As a producer and sound designer... These things are AMAZING FOR BASS. They aren't amplified at all, which is a GOOD thing, because as a music writer, I cannot STAND IT when I make the bass on a song lower because the headphones built in subwoofer was just too dang loud... These headphones make it so that the bass that is produced is the bass that was intended to be heard, not amplified a gazillion times...

Build Quality: The headphones, physically, feel VERY sturdy and, well, ARE very sturdy. The headband can be a bit tight, but with a bit of stretching and breaking in, it fits snug against your head and ears. The Ear Cups that cushion against your head are VERY, VERY comfortable and feel like 2 big marshmallows. They're very nice! The coiled cable saves a LOT of room, so for those who like coiled cords, you're going to LOVE these. They have a straight cable version too, just not sure if the Limited Edition Red one comes in a straight cable.

Design: As you know, originally, the ATHM50's ONLY came in Black and White, with the Special Edition Anniversary Silver one a year or so after. The FIRST thing you'll see about these headphones is the BEAUTIFUL Red and Black finish. The color itself is SO EYE POPPING it's RIDICULOUS. Now we can all have a but of style to accompany these AMAZING headphones! Just as aesthetically pleasing as they are functionally pleasing.

GRANTED, although these are INTENDED for professional Mixing and Sound Engineering, these work AMAZINGLY on ANY audio device. Ipod, Consoles, PC, you name it, it all sounds INCREDIBLE. I find myself using it for movie viewing too, and lemme just tell you, that is one HECK of a ride! :D

These are Limited Edition, so they could go pretty fast, so I would pick one up PRONTO!!!

In comparison to headphones like Bose and Beats by Dre, these blow EVERYTHING out of the water. Beats? Not for me, too muddy of bass and they are just too darn expensive, not to mention they require 3 AAA batteries. Bose? They're good for LISTENING, not for professionally making/mixing/mastering music.

All in all, for $150-$160, The Audio-Technica M50RD's LOOK amazing and SOUND amazing, and aren't those two things the most important aspects of buying headphones?

Look no further, you will NOT find greater headphones under $200. GURANTEED. Audio-Technica is THE best headphones company. PERIOD

The red was a luxury purchase, I admit. This was also my first 'good' headset purchase. As a non-audiophile, I can say that there is a noticeable difference with these headphones versus any others I have purchased. They were alot of money to drop on something where you could find something 'almost as good' for less, but sometimes a beautiful piece of music deserves it.

I play all types of music with this, and have yet to be disappointed with the sound quality.

The one negative (and thing that would prevent me buying these again) is these ARE uncomfortable. I wear glasses, and between the headclamp (which I worked out by putting it over the box for a few days to stretch it) and the ear cushions (which are frankly horrible, in my opinion), I'll likely go with another high end set in the future.

I ended up buying different pads, but the sound difference is apparent.

So my bottom line recommendation is that these sound great, and fit horrible (for my head/ears). If you wear glasses, look into articles about 'modding' this set, and weigh the pros and cons of it. For paying this much money, do you really want to have it sound differently?

Edit: In case you were wondering, I ended up getting these ear cushions:

These headphones have a great neutral, flat sound that really impressed me. The only drawbacks for me is the length of the cable and the fact that the cable is not detachable.

I am in love with my new headphones. They almost never leave my head! You get premium studio sound quality for a reasonable price! Don't take these to the gym if you sweat though, it'd be a shame to ruin such nice headphones. Also one downside is that the cable is not detachable at the top... But it shouldn't be a problem for me anyways. They look good too so all those people walking around wearing "beats" you can show them your optimum sound quality and style for a fraction of the cost! :D

I am, by absolutely no means, a musician. But, I am what I would consider a great lover of music. That being said, I've always had a creative side and have always wanted the ability to manipulate sound. If you're looking for something that's very easy to use and that will give you hours and hours and hours of entertainment then look no further than the Electribe. I hook mine up to a KP3 Kaos Pad and then into a KP3 Effects processer. The end result is a mass of amazing fun. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

This is the noisiest sampler on the planet. Sounds great when playing the sounds out of the 3/4 outputs but the main L/R outs are horrible! They route it through the tubes which has a massive amount of hiss even when not using tube gain. You can not run the effects through 3/4 so those outputs are useless, unless you are using them to run a VC beat clock to another unit.

I've been performing with mine for a decade and I can't wait to get it out of my signal chain. I have used other samplers and this thing simply sounds like garbage. If you buy this you might want to buy a hiss reducer unit to run on it.

The features are just ok. Very limited!! For exampleYou can only run a looped sample on a keyboard part which there are only 2 of. LAME! etc...

I purchased this for my 17 year old son for Christmas after doing a lot of research. It was delivered on time, ready to plug in and he was making beats that morning! I spent a little more than I was planning but he wants to pursue a music production career and this MPC2500 will take him there . . . plus the smile on his face is priceless!
