I bought these headphones to help with the roar of jet engines during long flights, and am very pleased with the noise canceling performance and the great sound quality. To make the picture complete, these are the most comfortable headphones I have ever owned. They are lightweight, comfortably padded yet snug enough to stay in place, and the padded top is very much appreciated. I wore them for extended periods on a 9.5 hour flight and had no discomfort. The hard case protects them during transit, and is easy to pack. Great product without the price of Bose.

I got this as a gift and it doesn't look like it's made just for beginners, it for pros as well. The violin rocks and the total package is great. The color of the violin, the tone and volume control, and the genuine horse hair bow is all I need to put a good show. We all gathered and tried the violin and everyone was amazed.

Worked great for 2 weeks then the Microphone quit working. Supposed to have a 2 year warranty but Nox does not answer emails and the phone numbers they give on the warranty card do not work. Buy something else.

Have you read the other reviews for these headphones? Two of them (so far) seem like they were created by people from Nox or people hired by Nox to give their products positive review scores. That's a pretty shady business tactic.

Here's an unbiased review, based on actual experience with the headphones, which I wrote for SLUG Magazine:

I was pretty excited when these headphones showed up on my desk. I figured reviewing them would be at least more fun than listening to the glut of mediocre-to-crappy promo CDs that I usually encounter, but alas, I was wrong. These headphones aren't super flashy, featuring a simple black and silver design with some comfortably padded material around the earpieces and on top of the headband. A microphone can be deployed from the left headphone, and a dial on the right headphone allows you to control volume. Pretty cool so far, right? Well, not really. Nox didn't include the cable that allows the user to connect these to a video game console, which isn't a huge deal, but since they're marketing them as gaming headphones, it seems like a dumb oversight. If the headphones sounded good and worked properly, maybe I would've splurged and bought the $20 adapter, but the sound quality is nothing special, and the chord that connects the headset to your listening device of choice broke after one day of use. If you're gonna spend $80 on something that only lasts for a day, I can think of many things more deserving of your cash than these headphones.

They are sold as a gaming headset and says its compatable for the Xbox 360. I bought them as a gift and was extremely embarrassed to find to find out that they do not function at all with the Xbox 360.

The sound quality with them is amazing! I can listen to any music type, from classical to dubstep. Wearing these is no hassle because of how outstandingly cushioning they are! If you enjoy playing games and talking to friends on "skype" or any similar program, your friends can hear you perfectly. That is all the basics I can think of now but over-all these are the best head-set I have bought so far.

I bought this headset two years ago and am finally buying another set after the piece that connects the earpiece to the headpiece gave way. When I bought them, I was looking for something that didn't break the budget (I had to spend that on a beastly video card!),lightweight but still able to deliver high quality sound, this set did both very well. I'm a hard-core wow head (Druids Rock!)so I wear my headset for hours on end with no problems. Other headsets I've tried were too bulky and heavy which made your ears hot, hurt and gave you a headache with extended wear. Cheaper brands would usually break within a few months and had poor sound quality. This headset caused none of those issues and like I've stated are over 2 years old. P.S.~For the Alliance!

I bought this violin six months ago just to see if I could learn to play, never touched a violin before and I'm almost 45 yrs old. The sound is good but not great. Putting it though a guitar affects box (cost almost as much as the violin!) helps a lot, you can really tweak the sound to whatever you want. I have actually learned to play, only lessons being online youtube lessons and student study books. You can really learn to play and have fun at home with this one. I changed to 'better' strings but I can't tell a difference, save your money for your next violin. I bought a 15W practice amp, wish I'd gotten one a little bigger but it is ok. I also like that you can plug in headphones and practice in 'silent' mode. My only complaint is that the electronic module is pretty cheap and the headphone jack is now intermittant and takes some fiddling to get it to work now but a minor fault. Also, buy a cheap tuner so you can get it tuned correctly. If it is out of tune even slightly it will be impossible to learn the fingerings. If you already play violin you pobably won't be satisfied with this, but for a test run at electric violin this one will get you started. One more thing it looks really 'cool' as the kids say. Have fun.

I was pleased with the nice sound and durable construction of this instrument. The electronics aren't really high quality. Comes with a good case which is more than adequate for the instrument and an "ok" bow (I prefer to use a different one). With the power off, it still sounds like a very heavily muted violin which might be adequate for practice for some players.

I bought one of these a few months ago. The thing you need to understand about cecilio instruments is they do not arrive in a playable state. The bridge was wrong, the fingerboard was not radiused and relief was wrong. Pegs were over lubricated. You might as well throw the bow away. The case is a pretty piece of styrofoam.

Its not worth taking to a luthier. If you can radius the fingerboard and get proper relief and carve a new bridge and carve a new nut youself then buy one of these. Or if you want to learn how to set up a violin then its a fun project. Otherwise forget them and get a Yamaha Silent Violin.

I did not want to spend $1000.00 for a Violin . So I decided on the Cecilio.. I'm Glade that I went with the Cecilio. I run it though my guitar pod and amp and it sounds great. The only thing I did to mine is adjusted the bridge to get the string height that I wanted. Great Violin for the Price .

I'm a new player. Everything sounds scratchy and terrible until I actually get comfortable with the song. Directly into headphones or speakers, I miss the sound that reverberates out of the body of the acoustic violin. But this is an electric violin, so when it is plugged into electric guitar amps and accessories, it can make music unlike anything that can be made with an acoustic violin alone.

It takes a lot of getting used to because the sound is so different and it comes from different directions.

I initially ordered it so I can practice at 4 am when I get up. However, it is still way too loud to do that with the family asleep in a nearby room.

That being said, during the day, when there are other noises about, I can practice in the next room and not disturb those watching TV or listening to music. Sometimes I can practice and after putting it up get reminded to do my practice.

The headphones that come with it suck. I got some good ones that cover the ears and keep out noise so my practice is not disturbed by surrounding sounds.

I love it. But it took some getting used to. I find it is better not to learn new songs on it, but to practice songs I already know. The sound is different than the acoustic violin, but much better when combined with the right amp and accessories.

My previous headphones were an ultra-cheap set from the local generic box store. They started to irritate my ears after only a few minutes of use, so they had to go! I do a lot of gaming, and using Skype to call family members long-distance. I bought the CAD U2 headphones a year and a half ago, and still use them daily.

Pro:

*Sound quality. NOT 5.1 surround sound, but very good stereo sound. Crisp high, mid, and balanced bass. Plenty loud enough to cause hearing loss(it's Bob Cramer, from Artillery!), and as quiet as you like.

*Microphone. I've compared Skype voice test with these versus the cheap set I had previously, and there is a huge positive difference with the CAD U2's. One other reviewer mentions muffled sound, and I wonder if they had the foam on the end of the microphone backwards (opening in the foam should be facing your mouth).

Con:

*Ear Comfort. It took me a while to find a comfortable position to wear these. The ear pieces just barely cover my ears {which are small). They are not large enough to go around your ears.

*Head Comfort. There is no padding on the top of the headphone band. I have the headband size maxed out and position it somewhat forward so it lays as flat as possible.

Other:

*Noise blocking. While not noise-canceling, they diminish background noises enough to make it impossible to understand my wife speaking from 10 feet away. At least as far as she knows. :}

*USB connection. If you use a sound card, you will probably not be looking at these instead of surround-sound headphones. On the other hand, it's a good thing in case your headphone or microphone jack is already occupied or doesn't work.

Not the most comfortable headphones out there, and not surround sound. Good quality, durable, does the job. I can't justify spending 3 times the money for something else, and I would buy these again today.

Bought the CAD U2 USB Stereo Headphones with Mic for creating some tutorial videos for family and friends, and love them. For the price on these, they are great. Recorded voice sounds great, no hiss or ambient noise. Cord length is great, nice and long enough for me to be able to move around in my office chair without having to unplug them. Louder than my regular headphones. Headphones have good sound, nice bass reproduction. The only , ONLY complaint I have about these are the ear pads could be a little larger to fit on the ear a little better, but works nonetheless. The ear pad size was not enough for me to take away a star for the review as I have a big head anyway (LOL)! For $36, one of the best sets I have ever bought. Very light as well. I have started using these for my podcasts, and they sound great!

UPDATE: It is February 6th, 2012, and my headphones just suddenly quit working! I was in the middle of a song, heard some crackling, and then they died. I've spent 4 hours now trying multiple solutions to get them working again. They are simply kaput! Went on CAD Audio's website to check warranty info, and nothing but an email address for support. So, I'll get back with how this turns out.

It is now February 10th, and three emails to support at CAD Audio have gone unanswered. Just a stupid auto responder. Apparently CAD doesn't support their products. I know it's not Amazon's fault that CAD doesn't respond, but it sure makes me think twice before purchasing from Amazon, and their suppliers again.

Without a doubt, this is the best affordable headset that I have ever owned. I use this for recording podcasts, voice overs for presentations, and Webinars. It is comfortable and great at isolating me from environmental noise. Best of all, clients commend me for taking the time and effort to make a recording in a professional sound studio, even though I have recorded at my desk in my home office. Excellent for Skype as well.

The other reviews regarding the quality of the microphone are more positive than my experience. When I record with them, my voice always sounds muffled. The sound from the earpieces is fine in general, but I'd gladly have settled for lousy sound and a better mic.

I purchased the CAD u2 headphones to record some webinars and audio recordings for a business that I run.

This is no run-of-the-mill recording that I am doing since I am selling what I create for large amounts of money and rely on these for all of my recording needs.

I was very impressed with the sound quality (although it does pick up ambient noise due to the sensitivity), and even the sound quality wasn't half bad.

You don't buy these for superior listening, but more so for recording Very good to high quality audio for podcasts, webinars, or other recordings.

For that purpose, these do the trick at a very reasonable cost, and I recommend them highly for that purpose.

I scanned through all the reviews and no one has mentioned that these things have a tendency to fail. I'm a drum teacher and I've personally owned 4 pairs of these and have had dozens of students buy these. When they work these headphones are great. They are much lower in price than other isolation headphones and the sound quality is acceptable. What is not acceptable is that the soft plastic that holds the foam earcups in place will eventually fail. What's worse is that the wires eventually become damaged and stop feeding sound to one or both speakers. Before they fail fully there are always a handful of months where the connections work intermittently, which is also quite frustrating.

As such I've searched extensively for an alternative that survives for a handful of years. My solution is to buy a pair of inexpensive isolation ear buds and a pair of job sight ear muffs. This setup has benefits:

1) The isolation is much much better! I can drum full blast with my ipod level set at a third of it's capacity and still hear the music clearly over the drumming.

2) Costs a lot less. JBud sells isolation headphones for $10, and I'm sure you could find an even better deal if you searched. The ear muffs can be purchased for $15 or less. Add these together and you're looking at paying less than half what you'd pay for these vic firth headphones.

3) If the headphones fail (and let's face it, eventually any wire will die), you only have to buy a new pair of headphones. Modular systems are the best!

4) This may seem obvious, but either the headphones or the earphones can be used on their own.

The downside is that properly inserting isolation headphones is a bit more time consuming and awkward than just slipping on the vic firth headphones. If the vic firths' didn't break down so often I would definitely be a fan. I hope this review is appreciated as I always use amazon reviews to get a sense of anything I'm considering buying.

I've loved these heaphones, and they still do the job very nicely after about 6 to 7 months. Here are some things I've learned:

Since the outside noise is greatly lessened, as advertised, they make the maximum volume for an ipod or mp3 player is lower than in regular ipod earbuds.

They grip to your head tightly, no matter what your head size. I got used to it quickly, though.

They don't cut out all noise, for sure, but they reduce the sharpness of any surrounding sound a lot.

The headphones come with a quarter inch adapter, which is very useful if you aren't just going to plug them into mp3 players and metronomes. They work nicely with amps and keyboards as well.

I have learned all these things from experience, and I hope you decide to invest in this product.

--God Bless!

I got this because I was never able to hear myself while recording drum tracks. The models I used before had a looped cord, like the one shown in the picture, which was a little too short. I finally decided to get my own about a month ago, and it didn't have a looped wire. It had a straight one, which is longer, so thats good.

While tracking with the headphones plugged into the laptop I wasn't able to hear myself properly. I was disappointed, but then i plugged it into the headphone input in my speakers which were connected to the laptop, and the result was fantastic. They're loud enough no matter how hard you play. I bet Dave Grohl would have a hard time hearing himself play if he turned these headphones on all the way up !

Thats why these are a must have for recording drums. Even if you use them to listen to music, no matter how much you turn the music up, no one will be able to tell what you're listening too. If you have issues with volume, then these are great. Cancels outside noise, prevents your music from being audible on the outside, and so on.

Build wise, they're sturdy. They look heavy duty. The ones I've used before have never cracked anywhere. That's good if you use these in a studio, musicians often tend to be pretty careless.

Comfort varies from person to person. Some people can wear these for hours without tiring. Some people can't. My right ear starts hurting after excessive use, but i think it depends on ear size, personal preference, and a lot of other factors. When you put these on, you can feel a vacuum being made. They really do put you in your own audio world.

However, the quality isn't fantastic. The reason i gave it 5 stars is because I didn't buy these for sound quality. All I use these for is to listen to a metronome or a scratch track while tracking drums. The quality is no better than your average headphones. So if you want great sound quality, you might want to look elsewhere. But if volume is your issue, look no further. You simply will not be disappointed.

These things are awsome! They kill the drums sound down to a low volume and really save your ears from the beating they take without ear plugs. They will enable you to play for hours without making your ears tired and being able to put music thru them is awsome. I used to have to play music ridiclusly loud through my main speaker system. Now i just plug these in to my computer and hear the music clearly and still hear my drums. Definetly a must buy for any drummer.
