This cable worked great. I've run a lot of cable during my life and have learned not to waste my arm and leg buying those expensive monster cables. Salesmen will try talking you into buying the more expensive and more so called shielded cables. That's a bunch of you know what, at least in my experience. I've never had any problems with the cheaper cables. I bought this cable to hook up my imac to my hdtv to watch tv off of. This cable provides the audio just fine. Though, at first I did have a low humming noise from the speakers, which turned out to be something called a "ground loop," which is another story you may google to learn more. I solved the ground loop problem by getting a "ground loop isolator," which took care of the problem. Also, I believe that there may be some signal loss because the cable is 50ft. long, but I just have to turn my receiver or amplifier up a little more than usual, which is fine. Hope this review helps somebody out there trying to do something similar. Good luck.

These work to get my computer hooked up to my sound system in the other room or my mp3's, iPad ect. They however pick up a local radio station and I was told I should have spent the extra money for shielded wires. These will work for now though and I am happy as they work as are advertised.

I was very pleased to find this product at a good price so that I could run it alongside my 50-foot s-video cable to connect my TV to my PC in different rooms and watch Netflix and other videos in my living room. I was NOT pleased to discover, upon running the cable, that it was only 40 feet long, not the 50 feet advertised. Since I needed a 48-foot cable, this was not satisfactory. If you need a 40-foot cable, it's great at the price, but if you need a 50-foot cable, look elsewhere.

I purchased this cable for my classroom. My surround sound panel is in the back of my Music room, but everything I use to play music and show videos is in the front. School technicians said they wouldn't give me a cable or run wire to the front of the room, so this cable was the cheapest solution. I hear very minor RF interference (I have a wireless router in my classroom) when I am not playing music. When music is playing, however, everything is good. The sound quality is amazing with no distortion whatsoever. I'm glad I took a chance on this one despite some negative reviews.

Excellent quality. My son is a musician and he uses this keyboard, so I bought the same one for my wife. It sounds great, it's rugged, and she enjoys it. We don't have room here for a piano. One thing we both like is that she can practice with headphones. If you need lots of volume you will probably want an external amp and/or speaker. The device does not seem to be as loud as a real Piano.

We have not purchased an amp yet but there are plenty of small amps that would be great for this device.

First of all, my family LOVES this piano. It is the perfect addition to the family. I have NO complaints there!

I rated it four stars to get your attention....

The thumbnail associated with this product is wrong, though the larger photo is correct. The thumbnail shows a four-legged bench, much like you'd expect with a real piano. The larger photo shows the X-style folding bench. This package includes the X-style folding bench, which is closer to the size of a stool. I wanted the standard bench. Once I have replenished my coffers, I will buy a bench.

I wouldn't say this amp is for playing a big show but it's a good practice amp or a backup amp.

feels better built than I had thought it would be considering the low price (i was a tad worried about that)-both channels are great, the clean is great but like any amp you can't crank it too much without it getting a bit distortedI am happy with my purchase though, it's a solid decent amp for cheap.

I sometimes have to practice my electric bass with headphones so as to not disturb my roomate. this unit is a chromatic tuner, metronome, and monitor mixer for headphones. I plug my mp3 player (with headphone output) into the tu88, and my guitar and headphones. I can tune my guitar with audio cues when I'm in tune, then turn down the tuner tones to hear the guitar and mp3. it runs on 9v, but doesn't seem to have auto shut off especially if you leave something pluged into it. overall I'm pleased with the unit. it also has lots of different metronome patterns and a speaker for using the metronome without headphones too!

Buy BOSS TU-88BK Micro Monitor and Tuner Now

I'm a guitarist, and I like to privately warm up with some metronome practice for a while before I perform. This product makes doing so much easier. I can plug in my earbuds (which I have on in place of stage monitors anyway) and even in a noisy "backstage" situation I can clearly hear my own guitar, balance the metronome level with my guitar level, and while I'm at it tune up one last time before I perform. The unit could be a little smaller, but its adequately compact. And sadly, choices are limited in a metronomes that allow you to jack in an instrument like a practice amp, or I might have chosen something else. My main complaint, there seems to be some awfully out-of-touch product engineers out there, who think its OK for a metronome to sound like a tiny bird chirping (two birds if you use any of the accent rhythms ). In a device of this size and price, it would be nice (and certainly do-able) if something like a stick or snare sound were actually used. But knowing electronic design as I do, I know that its very easy to make a circuit that produces a simple click or pop sound. And when you're practicing music, even a short tone (chirp, whatever) is distracting. This alone will make me hesitate to use this product for anything beyond the situation I described, and seek to replace it should something with a better metronome 'click' comes along.

I've had the TU-80 for ten years and just recently got the TU-88 as well.

I dislike the TU-80 because of the screen that's hard to see, the metronome sounds that aren't very good and the fact that they don't play in the output, the metronome only plays through the tiny speaker. That means that if you're playing something, even with an unplugged jazzbox, you can't hear the click track. What?? Yeah, I know.

Fortunately, the TU-88 is a lot better. The screen is still dark, but I can see a bit clearer. The buttons are sturdy and the whole unit feels solid. It also plays the metronome through the headphone output so that you can hear it. Brilliant. The monitor feature is also welcome.

The "headphone amp" feature is cool, but I feel like I've been fooled. I was considering the amPlug Bass before, but this has other features, so I thought it would be better value. Honestly, the sound is not great and you cannot adjust it. I know I have a cheaper Aria bass that apparently sounds bassy, but there isn't even a simple tone control on this, so you get one tone: dull and flat. Also, the metronome sounds as digital as ever, even squeaky on this one, so I can't use it for long before I go mad. The TU-88 tunes the bass well, though.

Nice package features-wise, but the quality is average. I regret buying this, I would rather have an amPlug and a cheap tuner on the side. It would have been the same price, I reckon.

The Sennheiser HD 205 is great value for money. The design is not only comfortable, but takes out a lot of ambient noise. This headphone does not have active noise reduction but does a good job with its closed design headphone.

The right-side is able to swivel backwards, so you can answer a phone call and not need to remove the whole headphone. This swivel was designed for DJ's to do sound mixing, but works well for other purposes as well.

I also like its strong bass and great clarity, where I could hear sounds in music that I did not hear before. This headphones not only works well for music, but does great with your favourite action movie. You will hear how close the sound is, and have bullets whizzing past you and swords meeting like they are just around you.

While there are unquestionably better-sounding headphones available, you'd be very challenged to find something better-sounding at this price point. Other pluses include deep, powerful bass response without being "boomy," the closed-back earcups provide excellent isolation & makes the HD205 a good choice for use in noisy environments or when others around you might be disturbed when you crank the volume, & the 32-ohm, highly efficient drivers make this a good match for iPods & other portable music players lets you play 'em loud, while still being gentle on the battery! I have a moderately large head (Size 7 1/2) so I initially found them too tight, as some other reviewers have mentioned. Sennheiser tech support suggested gently stretching the headband by placing them over something slightly larger than my head (sofa arm, computer tower, etc.) and leaving overnight. That did the trick for me, although I needed to repeat the procedure once more, about a week later.

They are adequate. Nothing great, I wasnt blown away so to speak.

About the headphones being too small, hmm dunno, I found them adequate, yes they are tight, but I having them looser would make them constantly slip from the head.

Pros:

1. Good ambient sound blocking. If you wear them without any music playing, it feels as if you have cotton stuffed in ur ears.

2. Cheap

3. Long cord. Nice carry pouch.

4. solid contruction.

5. Nice crisp sound output.

Cons:

1. The hollow spot at the center of the ear cup that is supposed to cover ur ear is small, about 1 1/2 inch by 3/4th inch. This puts some pressure on ur outer ear as the headphones fit quite snuggly. Extended use causes a bit of discomfirt.

2. Sound is a bit flat for me. the bass wasnt deep and the trebles werent sharp enough. I need to play around with the equalizer to see if I can fix this.

Want Sennheiser HD 205 Studio Monitor DJ Headphones w/ Swivel Ear Cup (Old Version) Discount?

I've just purchased a pair of these and have been using them for about a week now. I use them for mixing and mastering music in my studio. The sound quality is great; very clear and good frequency response. The 1/4" adapter screws into the 1/8" plug which is fantastic for what I'm doing. (I'm a little rough with cords when I'm working) They are a bit tight on the head and a bit small in the ears. I don't have a very large head or ears, so it doesn't bother me at all. In fact, it's nice to have them a bit tighter so I can thrash about and they won't fly off my head easily. I was a bit concerned about my ears hurting from the small cups, but I have not experienced any pain yet and I generally spend anywhere between 2 to 8 hours with them on. All in all, these are a fantastic deal for the price, but I wouldn't buy them if you've got yourself a decently-sized to a large head. Small heads only.

Buy Fom Amazon Now

Let me start off by saying that you should come to a GRIP with what these headphones are. They are intended for studio monitoring and DJ mixing. THESE ARE NOT SUPER BOOTY SMACKING BASS. You won't find "monitors" that are really meant for that. Monitor/DJ Headphones are for the purpose of hearing every single "detail." You cannot achieve this with heavy bass taking over sound that you would otherwise mix. So the reviews on "where is the bass" I will gladly tell you its there. BUT you don't get it just with plain headphones. You have to boost the bass if want you want is some good heavy bass. Now sound quality is unreal. I heard pieces in songs I had never heard before, and with these I was able to fix a mix of mine that I had been troubled with for weeks now. At the time making them I was using Apple Ipod headphones and wouldn't you know they have some heavier bass than normal. If you are looking for hard hitting bass, these are not for you. Any good or decent monitor/dj headphones will not fulfill this. Now onto the tight fitting. The only backdrop is its tight fitting on the head. But this is more of an up than down. Say your mixing, its midnight in the club, we all know how loud it gets around that time. That is what the tight fitting is for. With it tight onto your skull you won't have an issue hearing what it is you need to hear. Mixing has been a joy with these with detail, super clarity, and PLENTY of bass. For the price they cannot be beaten and personally I don't see the point in buying 200 dollar headphones at the moment. If you got a big head then stretching them out over time will suffice which I found I was able to do within a few hours. Great headphones, good for the use, and plenty of sound.

Headband is very tight, I had to wear it angled forward for comfort. Audiophiles may be dissapointed by the sound quality but I would rate it above average. My old Panasonic RP-HT240 had better sound quality but it's headphone cup cushion material was flimsy (disintegrating within 5 yrs) whereas these EX-25 headphone cups are high quality, functional & durable. This does not use sound circuitry which I consider a plus since those electronic gimicks add a bit of white noise. You must be cautious about wire connection at the headphone cups since it's not a very sturdy connection. Long cable length. Airplane headset adapter jack not included ;)

I thought I hit a gold mine when I ordered these headphones. I work from home and have 4 year old twin boys. They are loud. When I first got these headphones, they were awesome. Someone could be standing in front of me, and I would just see their mouth move, but not hear anything. Fast forward 30 days, and both cans broke off when I dropped them on my desk, 18" from my head. The connection between the can and the headband is a thin piece of plastic. No reinforcement pin, no nothing. How sad am I. I am torn because I love the headphones, but the connection between the can and headband is so crappy I cannot bring myself to buy another pair.

I bought these headphones for use with a Sony FX-950 DVD/CD Player. The sound is excellent. When playing DVD's I can hear background sounds that were inaudible using the player's stock speakers. The over-the-ear earcups provide a high degree of isolation / noise cancellation from undesirable outside sources.

Another reviewer said that the "handband is very tight." I cannot understand this comment since the headband is adjustable and will accomodate a very large head.

I believe this product to be a particularly good value for the price.

The headband problem has been resolved! We have a new Incrediflex Headband. The new headband is incredibly flexible, durable and rugged. It also has "memory" that allows the headband to be stretched or squeezed to fit the personal comfort requirement of the user. There is nothing like it in the industry.

See the video demonstrating the INCREDIFLEX headband being flattened, bent and abused well beyond normal expected use without breaking. The headband can be replaced in literally seconds with no tools whatsoever.

My headphones arrived in pristine packaging, but with one earpiece disassembled exposing the delicate wiring and speaker compartment. I complained and CE Source didn't respond with an offer to make me whole and referred me instead to the manufacturer for warranty service. The manufacturer told me "We do not honor a warranty when the item is sold at a low price because the item did not come from our facility. and could be counterfeit." I am very sorry I was tempted by this apparently great price and got burned. It is probably a good idea to avoid this seller under of priced headphones that came to me damaged.

I am an absolute newbie with sight-reading experience from my former choir singing days! I wanted to learn to play a piano but did not want the tuning and expense of owning the real McCoy and then find i didn't want to play it. Especially living in an apartment there were the neighbors to consider as well as the premium floor space. Then I came upon the digital piano and this form solved all my problems in one quiet swoop. You get what you pay for, so do some research on your must have and budget. I just knew that i wanted a brand name in the world of music so the yamaha was a given. Now I was deciding between the 161 and the 141, both new models released on 2010. I finally went with the 161 for the better hammer action and that it offered the 128 notes polyphony. These might be minor issues for you, but my passion to learn made me decide that rather than upgrade later, I would splash out a little bit more now and have the piano for a lot longer. If you live in an apartment like me, the bigger speaker offered by the 161 was not a huge selling point as I practice most of time with the head phones. Only when I wanted to show piece a well practiced piece do I unplug the headphones. The size of this piano is awesome and compact in depth and with the 88 keys, you have the grand piano sound without taking up a lot of space.

Other features include a metronome than can adjust for different time signature like 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 5/4, etc; 50 preset songs were you can mute either the right or left hand and you can practice with it (this is really for the intermediate player, but nice to look foreword to! The piano defaults to the grand piano output, but you can switch to outputs that include the organ sound, harpsichord, strings. Also nice are the options to set various digital reverb ranging from hall, room, stage or off, which is the default setting. You could also manually set the reverb effect, which is worth doing as it does change the output quite considerably.

The piano also records up to two tracks, which for a beginner is a great way to learn which part of the score that you need to practice the timing a bit more!

The 161 has two headphone plug INS to allow for a second listener. There is midi that allows you to record more of your own music onto a computer (for composition) or you can down load music to the piano too.

The weights of the keys are superb and I am loving the experience, the sound and the accessibility the digital format offer me.

For the price it is reasonable. It is worth shopping around for competitive bundles. I did not end up buying my piano here. But I am so happy with my experience that I really highly recommend this model for beginners who are looking to progress to play full scores. For beginners, I recommend the Alfred's adult all in one course. It is by far the best series out there. For a novice in the world of music theory, My husband is really impressed with the progress that I have made in less than one week.

For those who have wanted to fulfill a dream, don't hesitate any more, this is the best option and you will love yourself for buying it. Happy playing.

Update: September 2010: Try the piano and keyboard software! it is another fabulous tool for those who are teaching themselves to play the paino. It is a great supplement to the Alfred's all in one adult course. read my review on the software. I even more happy with the purchase of this piano!

Buy Yamaha ARIUS YDP-161 Digital Piano with Bench Now

I walked into the store with thousands, thousands! I was finally ready to buy a new, top-quality piano, after years of subsisting with used ones. I had been saving for years (literally), and was finally willing to go whole-hog on the piano buying.

I stroked the acoustic grands. Tempting, but I wouldn't be able to play them at night (when I am typically awake and the family is asleep), since there's no way to turn down the volume. So it had to be a digital one.

I went to the highest-end digital model, plugged in my noise-cancelling headphones, and started banging away. Impressive. But I noticed that a lot of features for which you're paying all that money are ones that I would never use (e.g., how often do I need a rhumba accompaniment?). Also, do I really need all those voices?

Finally I ended up just buying this one, the much cheaper Arius. I've had it for a year and I've had zero complaints about it. It's the same technology as that used on the higher-end models, so there'll be no difference whatsoever in the core piano sound. True, you can't do all that accompaniment stuff, but I never use it anyhow. There are fewer "voices," too. And you can only record one track at a time. Nor can you insert a CD.

But so effin' what? All that stuff wasn't worth adding THOUSANDS to the price! This one is smaller anyhow, so it can fit into more spaces. And I'm telling you, IT FEATURES THE EXACT SAME SOUND AS THOSE MORE EXPENSIVE MODELS.

In a way, Yamaha's kinda dumb to be doing this. Surely the word's gonna get around, isn't it? One would think that they'd jigger things so that their more expensive models had superior resonance, clarity, whatever -with the lower-priced models being palpably inferior. But currently -for who knows what reasons -this is not the case.

Hence these Ariuses are currently the best bargain on the market. If I were to compare how much I paid for this versus the hours of delight I've gotten out of it, I would have to rank it as one of the most profitable purchases of my life. Really when I play it for hours I totally forget I'm playing a digital piano.

You remember those old Toyota commercials from the 70's? "What will you do with all the money you'll save?"

Exactly.

UPDATE: After a couple of years with my Arius, I guess I can drum up a couple of complaints. Nothing that would invalidate what I wrote above; it's just that I like to complain.

1. The piano bench. There's a reason piano benches are benches and not chairs. Namely, since the piano keys extend quite a ways to one's left and right, for more complicated songs one needs to physically scoot one's behind a few inches this way and that. That is why piano benches are not only benches, but consist of smooth wood. But the piano bench that comes with this has a sort of vinyl padding that grips your behind and makes it difficult to scootch over without physically lifting oneself a bit. This misses the whole point of it being a bench.

2. The damper pedal seems not to quieten the sound so much as muffle it. This is my most significant complaint about the Arius. When you hit that pedal, it's supposed to make the sound softer. With the Arius, though, the sound is softer but also more muddy: it sounds like somebody threw a blanket over your piano.

3. Piano bench has no compartment where you can store your sheet music. Don't monkey with tradition!

4. There is a problem with audible sound cutoff when using the harpsichord. (This does not apply to the piano.) When you lift your finger, it sounds unnaturally cut off.

I love this piano. When I moved to a small apartment, I couldn't take my grand piano with me so I needed a substitute. This piano has the sound quality of a fine grand piano. The piano is a stand alone instrument and not portable. The key action and feel is so good that it's hard to know you are not playing a conventional piano. The ability to control the volume is a big feature for apartment living.

There is the ability to change the sound to other instruments, which is fun for a change of pace, but there are not the "bells and whistles," such as recording your performance or accompanying rhythms. It's an excellent and inexpensive replacement for a good piano.

I've had this piano about a month and have played it an average of a few hours a day. I played serious classical for many years growing up, and I can scarcely tell the difference between this and a regular piano, as far as the tone (it has two settings -bright and warm) and weighted keys. There's not the hammer-hit feeling or as extensive a weighted feel toward the bottom keys (though it has GHE graded hammer effect which does weight the keys more toward the lower register), but I can only tell if I really focus on it. While I'm playing, it feels and sounds great. It also comes with a full back and 3 pedals, which many pianos don't (with some, you have to buy a separate pedal with an ugly cord, and you only get the sustain pedal not the una corda or sustenuto pedals). There are a few other voices -choir, violin, organ, and harpsichord -and options for how sensitive the keyboard volume is to the touch.

If you're looking for something more versatile voice-wise, something for recording, or want a professional-level piano, this isn't for you (the next level up for Yamaha is the Clavinova series), but if you want a realistic feeling and sounding piano that's good for apartments or a smaller budget, this is a great option. I spent quite a while looking online before purchasing this, and tried out many similarly priced options at guitar center a few times, and this is definitely the best buy for the money. Particularly with the deal Amazon has at this time ($1,3499). I was able to put it together myself in an hour or two, which is more than I can say for most bookshelves I buy! Recommended.

We bought his piano 5 months ago for my almost 10 year old daughter who was starting lessons. We didn't have the space for a regular piano nor did we want to bother with the tuning and high price tag. We are VERY happy with this instrument. My daughter has progressed very quickly and says that the sound is better than her teacher's upright piano. The key action is realistic and the sound is wonderful. I'm very happy that we went with this over the YDP-141. The upgraded speakers and hammer action are definitely worth it. You will not be disappointed with this purchase!

I got the Mackie 402-VLZ3 to replace an Alexis multimix, and the difference is stunning. There's almost no noise or hiss when recording with the Mackie. For $99, this level of quality was a nice surprise to me. Highly recommended. You can turn it up quite a bit before noticing any hiss.

This is not USB or firewire, so you will need a stereo RCA to mini (1/8) cable to connect to your PC line-in. It doesn't come with any cables. It does include a downloadable license for Tracktion 3 software.

I bought this so I could connect both my guitar and mic to a Roland SonicCell and record audio using Logic on my mac. The pre-amp is great; better than expected. I reduced both hiss and hum in my audio tracks.

The only minor complaint is that channel 3&4 do not have separate level controls (treats as stereo); I don't need the extra channel at the moment, but it would have been nice to have as a spare channel (since it is advertised as a 4-channel mixer, which is true, but...)

My guess is that anybody reading a review on the Mackie 402-VLZ3 is trying to decide whether to buy Mackie or Behringer.

It is true you can get what appears to be a lot more mixer from Behringer for significantly less money than the 402 VLZ3.

So it makes perfect sense to buy Behringer until you learn your lesson -"Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me."

OK, I've been a fool at least a half dozen times, and I am now an officially recovering Behringer addict.

I've also got Behringer's largest mixer, the Eurodesk MX9000, taking up space in my office. It will take 2 men to haul outside and heave into the dumpster.

I never, ever abuse equipment, but I am struck by the failure rate of Behringer gear. And also, I've tried to get things fixed. Forget about it!

Hate to review Mackie by talking about Behringer, but the bottom line is this: Mackie gear is utterly reliable. It has never let me down. And it is not expense. The only problem is confusion when Mackie is compared to other products which are really not in the same class.

I use this for sporting event presentation. Music is played via Ipod to mini plug to RCA tape input. A Shure SM58S is used via XLR cable as the main microphone and a Line 6 XDR955 wireless microphone is used for frequency worry free reliability. One input remain open for adding a second ipod for the national anthem, for another performers music input device or for a back up mic. The output is via two Harbinger APS12 powered speakers that cover a space that is over 400' feet wide. We place the speaker side by side so that we on have to run one extension cord and there is no annoying echo like delay that can make hearing difficult. XLR to ¼" adapters are needed to connect the ¼" mixer output to the XLR cables. You can't have too many XLR cables with quality connectors.

I love how such a quality mixer unit comes in such a small package. The mute button is an essential function. I am interested in the Mackie PROFX8 8-Channel Compact Effects Mixer with USB for the slide volume controls, but I am glad for the small size of the Mackie 402-VLZ3 Premium 4-Channel Ultra-Compact Mixer which make transport, set up and take down easy.

I purchased this to replace my Behringer Xenyx 502 mixer which was starting to have some scratch on the primary mix volume control. The Behringer unit sounded completely fine to me for the time I owned it, but I was blown away when I hooked the Mackie up in its place. The sound is noticeably more clear. The Mackie also feels much more solid in the controls and I like the layout and design more on the Mackie. With the Behringer, the headphone volume is affected by the main mix volume control (except for the tape-inputs). On the Mackie, the headphone volume control is 100% independent from the main mix volume control, which I think is the way it should be.

As a headphone amp, the Mackie is superb. I'm running Sennheiser HD598's and they sound absolutely beautiful, crystal clear on this Mackie mixer. I can say the same for my Dynaudio BM5A studio monitors as well. If you're debating between a Behringer mixer or a Mackie, I'd say definitely go with the Mackie. It's well-worth the extra $.

UPDATE 10 Jan 2011: The power supply died (due to the voltage fluctuation in my area i'm assuming) and one of the pads isn't working (floor tom). It could be a minor problem, I'll be taking it apart to check. Everything else works fine.

Alright peeps, this is my review of the Pyle Pro PED06. We shall now refer to this unit as PYRO PAEDOSex or PYRO for short. LOL.

And nevermind the hip hop references.

INTRO

First up, I'm not a real drummer. LOL.

I've been playing guitar and singing lead vocals in a hard rock band for over 7 years. I have also been producing for 4 of hose years so have a pretty good understanding of drum concepts and implementation. LOL. Meaning I know how drums should be played and how they should sound. It all starts in the mind right?

Basically I started playing drums about two weeks ago to keep my band prithvi and mc/bc rolling. My brother who played drums for us had moved to another group.

So I needed something that I could practice on at home.

My criteria was that:

1. It should feel like a regular drum kit

2. It should sound like one.

The PYRO meets these pretty well.

Now I have no prior experience with an electronic kit to be frank.

However I do know that considering how IMPOSSIBLE it is to practice on real drums in an apartment, its almost a no brainer.

Plus a major major part of rock drumming is hand foot coordination. This can be definitely be honed to perfection on a kit such as this.

REVIEW:

SHIPPING:

Amazon did well to deliver the kit on time so thumbs up to them for that.

I received the kit on 3rd Feb. It actually landed in India on 1st Feb but spent two days at Delhi Airport because Air hostesses were using it as a sexual pacifier. LOL.

No actually because Indian imports and customs are CRAP and I needed to send them some kind of a disclaimer form.

I actually needed to call dhl to ask them what the hell was going on. They never called me and I lost 2 days in the process. Thats terrible considering I couldve been a better drummer today. LOL.

COST: $394

I did do some research on digital drum kits on amazon and had shortlisted two kits in this price range ($300-400):

Alesis Dm6 and PYRO.

I chose the PYRO because its pedals LOOKED more Heavy Duty with silver stuff embossed on black metal. get it? Black metal! :P

I also chose this because the description on amazon said that it had 20 kits and 200 something voices. Thats incorrect :(

ALERT: Althought this item description says this kit has 20 drum kits and 10 user kits. thats WRONG! It actually has 10 kits and 5 user kits witha total of 108 voices.

Also, although the picture here shows the words PYLE PRO on the pedals, the kit I got actually has a cool metal flame embossed instead. Which is definitely a great and welcome surprise.

I think I saw another digital drumkit on Amazon with flame pedals.

My take on this is that all these drums are made in China and probably at the same factory so they probably mixed them up. Not that it matters.

CONSTRUCTION:

When I opened the package I thought they sent me Robocop in a box. LOL.

The drum brain looks like a robot head. Its very cool.

The construction of the kit is Heavy duty. The frame is made of solid heavy metal. The snare drum is made of thrash metal. The entire kit is probably about 85% metal and pretty good quality. The rungs and holders are all SOLID metal. You could probably break doors and threaten neighbours with them. Don't do that though. :P

Even the drum sticks provided seemed nice. They're about medium gauge but feel good and sturdy. Not cheap.

I have never assembled a drumkit before but this was very easy to figure out and the entire kit was assembled and ready to play within 30mins.

The supplied adaptor is very cool as it supports voltages from 100 to 240 volts. That's pretty good. I didn't risk it though and used a step down transformer that I had.

The pedals are also very good. They are almost the same size as conventional drum pedals.

The preset action on the kick is perfect. Its like an actual DW (I have a 7000) or Tama kick pedal in its response. This pedal can probably be used as a regular kick pedal so that's a good thing.

SIZE:

The rungs are adjustable and the kit overall is VERY compact. The design is clever which allows you to fold the kit up in case you need to put it away. That's a useful thing for people like me living in modest dwelling.

SOUND:

I have only really tried the first kit (STANDARD) and let me put it to you this way: It sounds like a well tuned well mic'd and mixed drum kit in a great studio. The samples used for each piece are good sounding and robust. The pads are touch sensitive but you do have to smack them kind of hard to get a sound. I'm not sure if all electronic kits are like this.

To be more clear, for instance if you would tap a cymbal very gently, you would definitely hear something. But with these pads, you need to hit it with some amount of firmness to get a sound. If you tap it gently there won't be a sound. Or at least not one you can hear. Once again please remember this is my first time on an electronic kit. Chances are its probably a question of pads used. This might improve their durability in the long run.

The snare is very very good and has a dual trigger which means you can do rimshots etc.

The hi hat pedal is responsive and works well with the hi hat pad.

I'm sure this kit will sound even better as a midi trigger. Simply because with midi you can have different layers triggered for different velocities on each piece in the kit. That makes it sound even more realistic. Not that it doesn't already sound good but the kit will definitely sound better with midi. I have yet to try this and will share the outcome of that in an update.

OVERALL:

Well I've only had the kit for less than 12 hours but so far it seems great. I'm itching to go back to my apartment and play it.

Apart from being a practice tool I'm looking forward to recording using it and you can get some VERY decent drum tones out of the box. And with MIDI triggering you can forget the studio altogether (I haven't tried it yet on this one so don't quote me on that yet).

I hope this review was helpful to you. Please do give me your feedback and check out my music. I'll be updating this later.

Have fun.

UPDATE: 9th Feb 2011

MIDI: Midi works.

Updated: 6th April: Used the kit to successfully trigger and record using EZdrummer. Touch sensitivity intact. I was having some trouble with MIDI stopping working on the VST which then needed to be restated sometimes. It could be a problem with the VST. I shall find out and share the results!

Update: 2012

One of the pads stopped triggering. I tested the connections and it turns out the pad itself is fine but there may be something wrong in the connection to the drum brain or the drum brain itself. I haven't been able to fix this yet and so am making do with a two tom setup.

CONCERNS:

1. The audio level is KIND OF low in both the headphones and the line out.

2. The Rubber cymbal pads and snare top get stick marks real fast. I suggest taking some of the soft padding material that came with this kit and sticking it over those parts you hit. I did it and now its not so bad.

I'm on youtube as arjunkaul the king of rocknroll

i love this digital drum set. i've had it now for a good amount of time and it still rocks every time.

i love the versatility, compactness, small size that can be taken anywhere, and all the settings and sounds and styles that it has.

i would lie if i say that i haven't had problems, but i expected it. on of the connections in a cable went bad after a while, but it was for using it so much... as i said expected. nothing that a little fixing couldn't take care of.

i still believe it is worth every buck.

they do the job. They are excellent for blocking outside noise and have a pretty decent sound quality although there can be a slight echo that you'll only notice if you've been around music as heavily as I have been. The mic is alright, not recording quality and eh for skype calls and the like; very echoey and crackly. What i like is they're sturdy and don't really heat your ears nearly as much as some other over the ear headphones that I've had. One downside is they were supposed to have come with a free dj software but the serial was missing on the flyer that came with the headphones. Overall, good for what you're paying and good if you have a noisy household you want to block out.

So I bought this Yamaha Grand Piano keyboard and stand at my local Guitar Center. Guess what? The AC adapter is not included. This made me sad and a little nervous, like when my pajamas keep falling down. So I went searching for a power adapter. So this kit includes not only the AC adapter, but a set of headphones, some CD Roms, AND a certificate for an xtra year warranty on the keyboard. So I am not so nervous now. The jammies are staying up, and I am playing beeeyootiful music. See you in Carnegie Hall, baby!
