There are two types of TRRS connectors out there. The first ones I tried had little "lands" that you had to solder wire to. I found that the plastic melted before the solder, so I was never successful making them work.

THESE ARE THE CORRECT TYPE! Instead of the little lands, they have lugs that the wires attach to before you solder. I spent hours trying to get the OTHER type to work, but soldered a cable up in a few minutes using one of these.

I bought these for my son who has hyper-sensitive hearing. Loud noises like the vacuum running, fireworks displays and crowd noise would always have him plugging his ears until these headphones arrived. The over-the-ear design is comfortable, although it was a bit too snug at first and put his head in a vice-like grip. After a minor fit adjustment, they work just as advertised. I've now put him in charge of the vacuuming and the loud noise is a non-issue. No, they don't eliminate all noise; he can still hear with these on, but the sound is largely muffled. We give them two thumbs up.

I got one of these only because my 4-year-old son, who also drums (on a great Gretsch Catalina Club kit), was forced to wear ear protection (the Peltor 90554 Junior Earmuff, Blue) and I wanted him to learn by example. Surprisingly, these ear muffs really let the drum sound through (I had been using Remington shooting muffs which let nothing through). I like them so much that even when I'm practicing alone, I keep them on.

Very comfortable on my big Herman Munster head, and rarely do I feel the need to remove them (unless I'm doing brush work on the drums).

I recommend these without reservation.

Still love these things. The only time I have to move one of the ear muffs off of my ear is when I'm jamming with a bass player and guitar player, and the guitarist EQs to a lower frequency. I can still hear the drums just fine, but the bass and guitar blend in the sound spectrum, so I need to free an ear to try and catch higher frequencies.

I have a friend who is a professional drummer who comes over, and I go to guitar or bass. He insists on wearing these every time he comes over, and has asked to borrow them for gigs. He's Dominican and plays with Latin bands, and finds that these isolation headphones pull his kit's sound away from the other percussion on the stage. In my studio, I sometimes need to wear headphones to absorb his heavy hitting, but then I can't hear my guitar. As such, I've had to buy another pair.

Really a great investment if you need to hear what you're doing on the drums with a room of other instruments fighting for parts of the sound frequency spectrum.

Now when I practice.. I use these isolation headphones. They are great. Somehow-they make your drums sound even better and protect your hearing at the same time.

And they work great.

The only thing is that after 20 minutes or so.... they start to hurt my head because they are on there pretty tight.

Firstly, don't be turned off seeing that very few people have rated this product. The truth is that, if you look around for a PCMCI audio card in audiophile sites and stores, you will see this product reviewed exceptionally well. The average Joe only goes for the commercial hype and don't know of any venerable professional audiophile products.

Let me put one thing straight. If you decide to pay for this product, you better be having some good quality headphone (and i don't mean a Bose :-).. for all those who think Boss is any good..) like Grado, some higher end Sennhieser, Koss, Etymotics, Sure, etc. Because if you don't, you may be disappointed with this sound card. The analogy is if you have a bad eyesight and you are viewing a girl from 20 feet, it wouldn't matter if she got pimples on her face or not, you won't make any difference. On the other hand, if you have a good eyesight, you will notice the difference. Same goes here, if you sport a cheap headphone, don't waste your money on any high end audio gear.

What an excellent product. It's intuitive, not too combersome and it really makes a difference in the way mobile PC sound plays into external audio equipment. I like the analog volume control, it's really easy to adjust the output level. Other cards have a GUI that is not as easy to use or locate on the fly. As far as the performance, it's definately the best I have used so far.

I bought this for my son as a Christmas gift. He says that it works great. He can plug it on or use D batteries. He takes it with him when shopping for records or vinyl(as he calls them)! Wow, who knew that I should have saved all those LP's from the 70's. He takes it and listens to the records before he purchases them. A nearly perfect portable that could have had a second internal speaker (stereo) like the Crosley portables, and a lid that stayed attached when opened. Beware of the switch on the outside of the case, which could easily be bumped into the on position when moving, thus draining the batteries. The platter slips for a second under the record (poor traction) when started, and there is no room inside to store the AC adapter. Though it's a bit quiet at full volume, it does what it was designed to, and looks great.

The Handy Trax is portable and extremely lightweight. If those are the two biggest factors in a turntable you're looking for, then this should suit your needs reasonably well. However, note the following: When listening to records via headphones plugged directly into the unit, there is LOUD humming noise that accompanies the music. It is extremely distracting if you're using it for casual listening. If you're bringing it to record shops and are listening more for utilitarian purposes (i.e. "is this record in good condition?"), then it should fit the bill.

I bought this unit for both its portability and for semi-permanent use as a primary turntable in my family room. It generally performs decently for this purpose with the following exceptions: 1. when plugged into my receiver via RCA cables, one would expect that the turntable's built-in speaker would be automatically switched off. That's not the case. It is on even when plugged into a stereo receiver. This wouldn't be a problem if there weren't a slight delay in the signal output which runs through my receiver. But alas, there is. So basically, the music can be heard a fraction of a second coming out of the Handy Trax speaker first and then through my larger speakers coming from the receiver. Might sound like a small complaint, but in a small apartment such as mine, it's noticeable and distracting when playing music at softer volumes.

Additional problems:

1. The tone arm is pathetically constructed. It is fragile and sits on the strangest tone art rest I've ever seen. I'm finding it difficult to put into words how shoddy the construction is, but use it yourself and you'll quickly see. It defies logic and I'm shocked Vestax allowed this product to go to market built like this.

2. I've used the unit to record vinyl-to-digital via the built in USB. In short, it works, but produces awful sounding audio recordings. It just doesn't stand up to other units in this regard.

3. The price is astronomically higher than what you get out of its performance. It is constructed like a toy. For this price, it should feel solid.

In summary, there are better options out there. I'm kicking myself for not purchasing the Numark PT01USB Turntable instead of Handy Trax. It's literally half the price and appears to have at least similar if not superior construction.

Buy at your own risk.

Great turntable. Perfect for traveling and mixing.

I was doing a lot of digging online as to which audio interface to purchase for my home rig, and after much deliberation decided to go with the PreSonus Fire Studio Project. When I visited amazon to place the order for the audio interface alone, I saw this little combo-package recommended to me by amazon, and it's perfect. The audio interface is excellent, zero-latency monitoring, 8 balanced input and outputs(XLR & 1/4 combo), along with two 1/4 TRS inputs for line level instruments. The Fire Studio Project also comes with Cubase 4LE, and instructional DVD on Cubase, a sample CD(tons of loops and samples) and some lite versions of some pretty nifty pro VST plugins! In addition to this, you get a lite version of PreSonus' DAW, Studio One, which is an up-and-coming DAW and has received much praise for its functionality and capabilities. Before installing the drivers for the PreSonus Fire Studio Project, I recommend that you go to the Presonus website and download the PreSonus Universal Control FIRST and install it, then install the drivers as directed. I installed the drivers 1st, THEN the Universal Control and had some problems with the audio interface and FL Studio for quite some time before I figured out the order in which I installed the drivers and Universal Control is wrong; install the Universal Control first! It works great now.

The Samson CH700 cans aren't the best headphones ever invented, but it does the job reasonably well and gives you another tool to reference your music. Also, it gives you the ability to monitor your mix while recording, in conjunction with the HP4 by PreSonus. The CH700 usually connects to a 1/8 port, but, included in the packaging are two clip-on 1/4 TRS adapters for use with the HP4 and other professional gear :)

Now, moving on the the HP4; it's a well designed piece of equipment. There are 4 headphone jacks(1/4 connection) a mono switch and monitor mute switch. There is no on/off switch, instead you must unplug the AC adapter from the back to power-off the unit. The warning is in the manual for the HP4(it can get very, very loud, with little distortion too), so be careful when monitoring through headphones; start at 1 and adjust the volume using small increments. It's also built like a tank and I've never read any problems online about it concerning technical difficulties. However, I must be the first person to experience technical problems, because after a few months of use I found that the HP4 presents some problems routing my right channel through my right reference monitor. Sometimes no sound comes out or is very low in my right monitor, or gets distorted a bit, and this can be quite irritating while mixing and, or monitoring. But, I still give these things 5 out of 5, because other than that problem, they perform exceptionally well and I have never read of any problems from this unit, so I'm guessing this is very rare and they typically perform well for most users.

Don't forget to register your software(PreSonus Studio One) and hardware units(HP4 and Fire Studio Project) on the PreSonus website!

I bought this to replace my old setup of a Xenyx 2442fx with 8 outs into a delta 1010LT. I needed something more portable and this was an excellent solution. The preamps seem to be of the same quality, but I favor the Firestudio Project because it has a more clear mid range. I couldn't believe that I could get the Firestudio and the bonus headphones and headphone amp for the same price others were selling just the FS Project.

I'm surprised with the quality of the headphone amp. I was expecting it to degrade the quality of the sound, but if there is any coloration, I haven't noticed.

I've got better headphones so I have hardly used them, but they are definitely good enough that they will be included when I'm working with a larger number of musicians.

The firestudio is just as advertised. Zero-latency, high quality and has a ton of routing solutions. I combined it with my FireStudio Mobile for a total of 10 mic preamps and 6 line inputs. Easy to set up and use. If you need to mic drums on a budget, this will get it done.

We have been using one of these mixers for more than 18 months now with no problems it is a great starter mixer at a great price. It is the mixer recommended by the authors of the Podcast Solutions book one of the first books on podcasting.

You should keep in mind the limitations though while you can have a number of inputs, the USB connection is going to mix everything down into a single track when it outputs. This means that you can't do post production editing on individual tracks. If you want to do this, you should look at the firewire version of this mixer.

Otherwise, it is a great starter box and has been very reliable. Highly recommended.

It seems to work ok unless you need to put the sound through the USB. Once you do so, there's a high pitched noise and hiss that will come through on recordings. I Googled this issue, and it seems to be a common problem, especially on desktop computers. Laptops seem to have better luck. Apparently, there is a grounding issue with the USB. Aside from the high pitched noise and hiss, I couldn't get my bass to sound decent through the mixer. It sounded great on the headphones on the mixer but sounded awful after going through USB despite trying a myriad of settings. I am currently trying to return this.

I bought this on a recommendation from a friend. First I noticed over at his house a high pitched hiss when we were playing around with his setup. I thought at the time maybe this was something in his computer somewhere.

Then I got mine, and lo and behold, the same problem! This hiss only occurs through the USB interface. When I ran it through an M-Audio Mobile Pre USB, no hiss. I Googled this and there are numerous reports of people having this problem. This is not an isolated incident. I don't do many Amazon reviews. I only take the time to do this one to say "buyer beware."

So if you are looking to use the USB interface, consider another product, because you are just going to have to sink another $30-$100 on an audio interface to connect to your PC. If you don't need USB, this seems like a perfectly fine mixer. It just annoys me to buy a something only to find that one of its main features is completely broken.

Many of the jobs I play as a musician are with a two-piece or three-piece band. The main reason I bought this mixer (I bought two, actually, in case one breaks) is because I needed a very compact mixer to mount into a custom-built, half-rack PA system, yet the mixer could not skimp on features.

I needed six channels, and all six needed to have three-band EQ and a monitor send. Too many compact mixers today focus on features for two or four channels, and pretty much disregard the rest of the inputs. And some mixers use volume faders instead of knobs, which requires making the mixer needlessly larger. The Alesis MultiMix is uniquely compact because of how it uses every square inch of space.

I wouldn't call the effects top-grade, but in a live setting they do the job just fine.

I have used this mixer on a weekly basis for about seven or eight years now, and it's still working great.

I am writing this review after having owned & used this interface for about 5 months now on a daily basis. Currently there are 1 each of a 1, 2 and 3 star rating. One 4 star states the unit has flimsy buttons. I am shaking my head and wonder if people have King Kong fingers when they use their stuff. Seeing how so many "take care" of their vehicles and houses it is no surprise that people pull knobs off and junk up their equipment in the same manner.

The fact is this is a great unit. The switches are not flimsy at all unless you drop kick the unit into the wall. Then they are really flimsy. It's actually very solid. There is NO crackling, popping, noisy stuff going on AT all. Not on my setup. So if mine doesn't do it, why do theirs? Good question...if one of us gets it to work with no problems and buttons do not break on it (within reasonable knowledge, not babying it either) then it must be a user issue. No manufacturer can account for the myriad of different systems out there, I get that. But as a consumer of this unit I wonder why I am having a seamless time with this interface and these other people are not. If it had an inherent noise issue wouldn't it crackle and pop for me? If the knobs were flimsy wouldn't they be for me? If the monitor output didn't work wouldn't it not work for me?

They all do, and stellar. Hooked it up to my computer, my DAW read the ASIO drivers no problem and whamo... I am sure some of these users got bad units. But I am also certain it is user lack of knowledge on some of them as well.

In following the Amazon tradition, I will now be blamed by some as being a shill for the manufacturer, having stock in Focusrite or being married to the daughter of the founder. As much as I'd like to at least have the 2nd one (I don't know if the founder has a daughter to be honest) I cannot lay claim to any of these. But there is a 96.367% possibility someone will accuse me of that.

PSYes, you do have to download the drivers from the Focusrite website. I cannot express. I cannot convey. I cannot quite display to you how dang SIMPLE that process is! To say in one reviewers words "it is a pain" was side splittingly painful for me when I think of the future of humanity. How do some people eat? Thought I. How do some walk and talk at the same time? I now take my leave to ponder the meaning and evolution of life...

Buy it...it's great.

Buy Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 USB Audio Interface Now

I have a small home studio that is only used occasionally. I previously had an RME fireface 400 that uses firewire. Well, if you haven't noticed firewire support is dwindling. Windows 7 barely supported it, Windows 8 further removes some 'work arounds' that were needed for audio devices (aka the legacy driver drivers are not signed for use with Windows 8), and I've even seen Apple, who owns firewire, dropping it from their products. That left me without a working device when I switched to Windows 8, and RME tech support has went on a "we hate Windows 8" rampage, and customer service was horrible.

So I replaced it with this unit. It worked instantly once plugged in and drivers installed. Actually the software looked a bit more polished than I expected, and there has been no lockups, buzzes or other issues so common with the RME. The I/O was what I needed; 2 Inputs for Voice over work and Mid-Side recording, and 4 Outputs; 2 balanced outs going to JBL powered monitors, 1 going to a small guitar amp for previously mentioned Mid-Side recording. If you wanted to use external effects, you would probably want 4 Inputs, but other than Mid-Side recording, I have switched to using all software and that was not needed in my case. Latency is reported as 4.875ms at 48k, using Cubase 6.5.

Bottom line, I would have no hesitation working on a project in front of a client (if I still did that) with this device, and that means I trust it to work. I can't say the same for RME.

I spent a lot of time deciding which interface to get. I went with this one because of a few reasons.

Focusrite Saffire 6 this was my first choice, but this one only has USB 1.0 which is not future proof and will soon be outdated.

Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 this is 2 in 2 out and it does not have MIDI control. I felt that I might get a MIDI controller one day so this wasn't going to work in the future. But it does have USB 2.0.

Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 found this last minute, includes everything with MIDI Control and USB 2.0. A bit more expensive but exactly what I was looking for. It can also output 4 instead of 2. Recommend Scarlett over Saffire and only recommend this if you need MIDI.

After previously having a Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6 interface, which I can't recommend...at all, this has made everything so much easier. I've had this for about 3 months...

The set up was simple...simply download the drivers from their website, and follow the instructions that comes with the interface. The sound is crisp. Overall good, not great, but surely at the price point very good. The build is sturdy as well. I've only tried recording guitar a handful of times and it wasn't difficult to set up however I can't truly comment on the tone and everything that goes into recording guitar because I didn't spend much time with it yet.

I'd recommend this for anyone who has a basic set up and just needs a simple interface with good sound that works with out headaches.

I read quite a few reviews on products of this nature and many were negative. Issues connecting, poor performance, on and on. I am glad I let me gut win out on this because I went ahead and ordered the unit and was up and running within 15 minutes. The instructions were easy to follow, I walked through each step as I was told downloaded the drivers, and my complementary additional software and was using the equipment and recording as expected. I paired the Scarlett 2i4 with the Rode NT1-A condenser mic and i love the sound. I would recommend this product to anyone who is looking for this sort of unit.

I purchased the Gemini DJX-03 headphones after searching all through amazon for headphones that weren't too expensive, but were sturdy. When I purchased these headphones, I was really excited: Good quality sound, comfortable, the cord was nice and long, and on top of that they were adjustable. FANTASTIC, even. Unfortunately in a mere week of use I put the headphones on and found that the right side was dead. Almost completely useless on the right side, although it is still functioning on the left. I was very frustrated because of how quickly they seemed to die, and I took very good care of them.

They're cheap, and more importantly they work! Bass is actually quite good, which was my major concern. They also have that flip-around style earcup for easy monitoring--all in all, you'd be hard-pressed to find better over-ear/over-top-of-head-style headphones for 9 bucks shipped. Like most cheapies, they kind hurt the ears when worn for any somewhat extended period of time (hour or more, normally, although sometimes you feel the burn in 30 minutes). The treble/midrange could be a little clearer too (not hte greatest sound separation), but it's hard to fault a product that performs so well at such a low price.

I highly recommend them--just can't in good faith give more than 4 stars due to the fact that it's an admittedly cheap product and can hurt your ears.

I didn't like this cause the cord was about 3 feet shorter than my other headphones, an AKG K240 which I really like, the cord became damaged on that one and this one was about 1/10th the price, so I just went with this one. Besides the cord length, this one has cords coming out of both left and right side which is slightly annoying (the K240 only had it coming from 1 side), and the K240 audio was rated really high quality. But I'm no professional audiophile, and this gemini set sounded just fine to me. So I'll take a star off for the minor annoyances I listed above, but overall it's a good set especially since it's about 1/10th the price of my other headphones but still sound good. As far as the headphones seeming too tight comment I saw on here, I have kind of a pretty big head and they weren't too tight. I can see if you have a super sized head they might be too tight, but for normal sized they should be fine, if you adjust the earpieces all the way down it should feel looser for most people.

I use these headphones with a small (Ematic) video player. I watch educational lectures. These headphones perform very well and are easily "driven" by the voltage supplied by the player.

The product is seamless it is simply input and output with no second thought given to the hardware's existence. It works, and it works well.

It is driverless no need to continually install and/or update third-party drivers that may hinder an overall system due to conflicting application/operating system needs.

It's pretty and small. No one knows what that object in my configuration is, but they sure know it looks small, cool and important.
