I'm a teacher who works with autistic students. If you're a parent or a teacher who needs something for the classroom that won't break the bank, then these are for you. It will allow kids to hear you but deaden the other little noises going on in the room. I'd recommend them!

The "extreme isolation" promised by the name of the product is missing in these headphones. You can hear EVERYTHING around you, only it's muffled very slightly.
This was a very disappointing purchase. If you're looking for a lot of sound reduction, as I was, these are not the headphones to buy.

I bought Direct Sound EX-25 for my child for $79.95 who has sound sensitivity. I have never felt so jipped by a company as this. There is NO "Extreme Isolation" and I felt it failed even the basic usability test. The whole product is made of cheap plastic and broke in a day. You can replace the cheap plastic headband paying ~$25 (S&H included).
I was in the Harbor Freight and got their Earmuff ($5) and use a simple Coby earphone (~$12 for 2) and I felt that gave better sound isolation and better quality of sound.
I wish Direct Sound could explain to my son the value of reasonable fairness. $80 is a lot of money for a child and takes a long time to collect. I hope to share their response with Aspergers support groups.
It took me long to comment only because I wanted to be objective instead of being emotional.

I got these because my grandson has a small band and they practice at our house on and off, and in the winter, they have to play inside due to the weather. My room is next to the room where they play, and as I am already hearing impaired, I need to protect what hearing I have left from loud conditions. I got the drummer hearing protection and it works great. I do enjoy the kind of music they play, so I can still hear the music, but, it is toned down so that it is not harmful to my hearing. This makes it easier on all of us. They band can play and all enjoy their music and they don't feel bad about it. After my dad dies last March, who I was a caregiver for, I was asked to move in with my grandson and his family so I would not be alone in another part of the state. But, they were worried about the band playing in the house when necessary and my hearing issue. They were going to try to find another place to play but it would not always be the same place and moving the equipment around every week for band practice was not a good idea. So, I told them not to worry about all that, a pair of good hearing protection would take care of the problem for me.
I know band members who play, or have played, professionally and they said this type of hearing protection is the best, so I got these and am very glad I did. They work great, are a very comfortable, and good a product and price. Best of all, everyone is happy. My grandson and his friends think this grandma really rocks!:-)
My son has a sensory function disorder and falls into a heap of tears when people "chew" or "sniff" or "breathe". These earphones were initially a disappointment too him because he had hoped they would completely block out all the sound. But they are now his constant companion in the car, at dinner, doing homework, watching a movie, etc... They block out a lot of the background noise while allowing you to be "present" and participate. A NECESSITY for our household!
