I always had to drive to a studio to record voiceovers for narrations and radio spots. Now I can do it at home. I was able to set up the MXL-Studio 1 mic in a quiet closet space (the generous 10-ft. USB cable helps) and the sound quality is almost as good as the studio.

I found that a pop filter is necessary. I use Apple's Soundtrack Pro (part of the Final Cut Pro suite) for recording and editing. It's a simple setup and works just fine.

I bought this microphone because i'm tired of having headset microphones containing either too much static, or just not having the volume i need.

upon receiving the item it came in a nice plastic case with some pretty solid latches (think pelican case, just not a pelican case)

Installed the supplied stand (which is pretty nifty) and plugged it into my computer (Windows 7 Home Premium)

Took a Few minutes to get recognized in the Device list but it did so without a hitch (there is no driver to install)

Using the listen feature i began listening at the quality. It sound very good However, i had a Hum and i could not figure it out, turns out it was picking up the vibration from my computer itself (the fans) As well as any background noise it easily picked those up as well.

If you're going to use one of these professionally i would recommend getting a Pop Filter to cover the front of the Mic (It is VERY sensitive)

Overall, the size of it isn't too daunting, i can be placed in just about anyplace on it's included Tripod Stand and not be in the way, It also comes with a pretty long USB Cable which can help as you're not limited in length.

I'm pretty happy with it, and If i have any problems later on down the road i will for sure make a note of it here.

First, I do not have any microphone from the Blue brand; however, I can say that I am very pleased both with the quality and the ease of this microphone. I purchased the pop filter as well, to protect it and make recordings that much better. It picks up sounds from everywhere, so if you are using it for anything other than high quality recordings, you are better off getting a different microphone or a headset. (That means do not use this one to play video games, specifically if you have a mechanical keyboard). It does just what you think it will.

If you use audacity to record your voice/sound tracks, the built in noise reducer takes away all of the background noise perfectly. Since audacity is free, no matter what software you use, background noise shouldn't be a problem.

To conclude, this is not a comparison to the Blue brand, but this microphone is good.

I am a 36 yo man, I've always wanted to learn piano so I thought I'd get this keyboard which I thought had built in lessons that would guide my learning to play the piano...

For all intents and purposes, doesn't the description seem to infer that? That with the Y.E.S.5 teaching system and all those built in songs you'd have a well thought out lesson plan built in. That was my misunderstanding:::

What it actually is is a nice keyboard that you can learn on, but it won't teach youthe emphasis is on getting out what you put inyou have to really stumble your way thru learning the built in songs that the keyboard lights up the correct keys you're supposed to strikethere is not a good fluid way to learn a little piece at a time (It does have an A-B feature but it's not so much a loop as it is a measure to measure cycle with a 2-4 bar intro, each time!) So its not like you can just sit there and play it over and over and over again until you and your fingers get it, its: play the 2 or so bars you select (A-B) and then at the end, it goes thru at least a 2 bar beat count and then resumes the 2 bars of the song you're trying to learn.... does that make sense?

There are not lesson plans. In the book it says to "Listen to and Learn" the song. My memory isn't that fantastic that I can learn the songs by listening to them and then just learning, I think it would be a vast improvement to have a real loop feature that you could use to select a portion, loop it ad infinitum until you learn it and them move on. Also, I was really thinking that with the latest Learning System (Y.E.S.5) that there would be beginner lessons on reading the sheet music, finger drills, scales, etc... all the stuff you learn when you're learning pianothis piano system is for prodigies and people who already know piano.

So while it is a nice keyboard, it is not the EZ piano that will teach you how to play, you will have to look elsewhere to learn, or teach yourself, but this keyboard with all its songs and such will not be a step by step tutor....

I did a lot of research before I finally order YAMAHA EZ-200 a week ago from Amazon ($150+plus shipping)

I had a couple years of basic piano lessons and wanting a keyboard for myself to learn some songs for self-entertaining purpose, using synthesia program. The features that I was looking for:

-Minimal 61 keys/regular size keys for basic beginners

-lighted keys for guided practice

-LCD for guided fingering

-realistic piano sounds

-piano like touch (Touch sensitive keys)

-ability to download MIDI from the computer

After playing with YAMAHA EZ-200 for a week, it delivers what I am looking for:

-content in the box include: EZ-200 keyboard, a product manual, a song book and a demo DVD of YAMAHA products.

-the keyboard was well made (made in China), elegant look; does not have that cheap plastic feeling

-YAMAHA education suite allows you to set a section between A point and B point, which let you practice that segment repeatedly

-the keyboard does simulate a stand-up piano quality

-"Waiting" function allows lighted key to pause and wait for you to catch up the music

-Allows practice separate right hand and left hand practice

-Allows to slow down the tempo the the song (included) that helps practice

A few things I'd like to address, not related to how EZ-200 was made, but probably would have affect my purchasing decision if I had known it ahead of time:

-AC adapter NOT included with YAMAHA EZ-200.

I was shocked when I realize the AC adapter is not included, especially when the product manual stresses the importance of using an AC adapter for environmental friendly reason. After seeing many sellers include AC adapter in their package, I did suspect AC adapter may not included in the box, but I still choose to purchase EZ-200 without any other bells and whistles. A friend purchased the YAMAHA PSR-E230 bundle with a keyboard stand and earphones. She reports the stand was flimsy and not sturdy for the keyboard. I really don't need a filmsy stand that doesn't serve the purpose, but a AC adapter that can spare the use of batteries and prevent environmental pollution, I can use one.

-USB MIDI Cable Converter (PC to Music Keyboard) NOT included

The YAMAHA EZ-200 keyboard itself is excellent!!! I'll give it a 5-star rating. As for the overall package, until it comes with AC adapter, I'll give it 4 star.

C'mon, it's like a boom box radio that did not provide a AC adapter. YAMAHA, WHAT R U THINKING???

I used to take piano when I was 4 until I was a teenager. I'm only getting back into learning now, and I decided I didn't want to spend too much money until I'm dedicated to piano again. This is perfect for a beginner. It's not going to teach you entirely how to play piano, but the lighted keys are fun for playing along with something complicated you wouldn't normally try. It doesn't work as great as I hoped, especially on "Waiting" mode. If you play in time with the song, the key does not register and you have to press it twice. I haven't found an option to mute the instructional playing and allow you to play alone with the background music. But you can always play without song mode and set your own background tempo. This keyboard does not teach you how to read sheet music, or anything about the notes, so don't expect that when buying the EZ-200. You need to purchase a book or take lessons if you can afford it. I love that the keyboard has a metronome, and you can change the tempo easily. Overall this is a nice keyboard to practice with while learning.

Want Yamaha EZ-200 61 Full-Sized Touch Keyboard Discount?

The only two options in this category seem to be this and the casio, and I think the yamaha is a better product hands-down. It feels a bit more substantial, and the sound seems (to me) much improved.

The actual lighted feature is nice, and I enjoyed a few of the songs, but I was a bit dissapointed that additional songs could not be added to the keyboard itself. They do have free software online (and a few free songs) that can talk to the keyboard through MIDI, and with that you can sort of play new songs, but it doesn't take full advantage of the lighted keys.

We had a problem with the first unit shipped; one headphone system was defective. The Supplier sent an entire new system back when we shipped the old complete unit back to them. The sound quality is not top of the line; however, it is very acceptable in a small environment. Feedback is rare even though the speakers are only 20 feet from the mike. The individual mike level potentiometers and led indicators are a plus; I noticed a level difference from the headsets to the handheld mikes and the level can be adjusted via these potentiometers. Compared to the professional unit that was replaced, this Pyle unit is twice the quality. Pyle PDWM4300 4 Mic VHF Wireless Microphone System

We were looking for some wireless mics for our mobile DJ business. I looked locally and could not find a price that I was happy with. I don't do much Internet shopping, so I was a bit reluctant to buy something online. The quality of this product resolved that fear I had of getting "ripped off". The microphones hooked up very easily to our existing equipment, and the instruction were written in plain wording so there was no way you could screw it up. I easily got a good 230 foot range out of the mic. I feel that for the price I paid, i will be very happy with this product for a long, long time.

Product works great for the price. We use it for backup vocals at our church and the sound quality through our system is fine. It didn't come with the clip-on mics as advertised but I called the customer service number and they sent them out right away. Customer service was very good. All in all a fine product for this price range and you will not be disappointed

I have used pa and sound systems for many years and recently installed this unit in my church...I performs OK, but for the money, I expected more... this is my second unit, I use one for DJ'ng and it could be better, it sometimes cuts in and out and one of the mic's has already failed... it does have a 1 year warrenty on the product but Pyle will need to see all the components to fix it or replace it. The Unit is OK but I would not buy another...

I was apprehensive to purchase this product after reading some of the reviews and vowed that I would send it back for a full refund at the first sign of trouble. I received it quickly and got to the testing. To my surprise this non costly system rocks! I had my wife walk outside in the backyard with the headset on while I stayed in the house and they worked just fine! So they worked through the walls and from at least 75 feet away! I think some of the reviews are based on user error. You have to make sure that the button on the power source is set at 110V (standard for most sockets) not 220V. If it's set on 220V you will get the feedback and the mics won't work or they will go in and out. The sound quality is not the best but what do you expect for the money you spend on it. It definitely gets the job done!

These headphones are very very large....too large for a child's head. I bought them for my 8 year old and they are too big even for my husband. They are not padded which makes the top and sides very uncomfortable. The ear pieces are not snug and flay out at the bottom. My daughter hated them.

Company will refund me but I have to pay for shipping. Not very good customer service, in my opinion.

The case and stylus pen and ear phones are all good. But the insignia on the front is backwards! Rather than VG it is flipped facing the other way! I do notice now that the photo of the case has it the right way, but the smaller open case is the way I received mine. Is this a knock off or something? Did you get a batch at a good price because they were visually defective?

I can't return mine because to be honest I didn't notice the insignia until after I had looked the products over and thought they were all good. Soooo, boxes went into the trash.

Guess I'll just have to deal with it, but it's sad because my initials are GV. Would have been sort of cool. It was one of the silly selling points for me.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is a very upscale seat of earbuds. The construction makes them the most comfortable I've ever worn (I tend to get ear infections easily, and find most earbuds irritating). Listened to an audio drama and got very nice sound on the background effects as well as the spoken lines.

Only thing I would add: read the instructions and don't go with an earbud size that's too small, or it WILL affect sound. I tried to go with small ones, and the sound was awfully tinny. When I switched to larger buds (which were still very comfortable), the sound was fine.

Comes with three sizes of earbuds and a very nice, compact case.

Are they worth the price? It's probably up to sound experts to really make that decision, but if you're looking for a more upscale earbud, check these out.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Onkyo, a trusted name in the world of HiFi audio has released a unique pair of earphones. What stands out immediately is the tangle-free flat cable. To be honest at first I thought the cable was rather flimsy and had a cheap feeling to it, but I now recognize this material is becoming more common, and is actually quite durable, and cutting edge. The three things that matter most for me with earphones is sound quality, comfort, and durability.

Sound quality These earphones pack a good punch. If you normally don't go above $40 for a pair of earphones then you will be pleasantly blown away. If you normally spend around the $200 range or more then you'll find these earphones to be just ok. If your priority is bass, you will not be disappointed. I actually love crisp highs, as much as low end is important and the I E-FC300s don't seem to really shine in the high end. The mid is fine, and the bass is great, but finding that perfect mix for headphones in this price range is not an easy feat. Just as a reference, my favorite earphones around this price range are JVC Victor In-ear Stereo Headphones | HP-FX500 (Japan import).

Comfort In the discussion of earphones comfort must be factored in, especially for prolonged use. For inner-ear phones these are a bit on the heavy side, though the clever design manages to spread the weight a bit. These don't feel like invisible featherweight ear buds that many people are accustomed to, so realize you'll feel a presence in each ear when wearing these. However, if you're going to go jogging or any significant movement, one plus for these headphones is the super-light cable, as with many other inner earphones I've dealt with, the phones start to come out of the ears slowly with every slight bounce / tug of the cable as you run or even walk. If your primary use for headphones is during exercise, you still may prefer a lighter set.

UPDATE: Now that I've had some more time with these headphones I have to confess that I don't find them very comfortable over time. Although I didn't try the smallest size rubber cups, I use medium size on every other pair I've had, and don't see how that would make a difference, but basically there seems to be more pressure in my ears when I put them in with a tight seal, than with other headphones, which leads to a general, light soreness over prolonged use, and I'm not even talking about over an hour. This brings my review to a 3.5 stars, but since that can't be done manually I'll just leave it at 4.

Durability This is always a difficult category to review shortly after purchase, but these seem to be well built, and the innovative cable looks like it may very well mark the end of the infamous crackle/signal loss you get from so many headphones at the neck of the connector where the cable bends. Only time will tell though.

Overall, these are decent headphones, but if you want a wider soundscape and crisper highs, or the kind of canal phones where you don't even feel them at all or want to lay your ear against a pillow while still listening, you may need to look elsewhere.

By the way, I don't know if it is just my computer screen, but the photo on Amazon makes the "violet" pair look more blue than purple.

Want Onkyo IE-FC300(V) In-Ear Headphones, Violet Discount?

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Onkyo I E-FC300(V) In-Ear Headphones is a really nice in-ear headphones. It generates very clear sound and very powerful bass especially compared with many in-ear headphones out there. I've been using many wireless stereo headphones lately and now realize why company still makes wired headphones especially at these price range (i.e. they have way better bass than their wireless counterpart. I'm not sure if it is bluetooth technology limitation, battery limitation, or other reasons). This Onkyo headphone is a bit bulky for an in-ear headphone and I am not 100% sure why they made the cable detachable (and not using twist method connect/tighten) as it got accidentally disconnected one time after about 15 minutes of use and the speaker part fell to the ground (thankfully it didn't break), though it is also possible that it is my fault for not attaching it correctly at the first place (it also warn not to disconnect too often). Anyway, make sure you connect them tightly before using this headphones and enjoy the deep bass and crispness of the music.

I do not normally write reviews for products, but this product is such a poor product, I felt that I needed to. When these headphones arrived, I was super excited. They looked awesome, when I put them on, they felt great! Then, I plugged them into my DJ system. This is when I was disappointed. The headphones sound like crap! There is no bass in the headphones at all. In fact, the sound that comes out of these headphones sounds flat. There is no way that a DJ could mix music with these headphones. In fact, I don't know how anybody could even listen to music out of their iPod with these headphones. Buyer beware! This is an awful product.

I ordered this kit as part of a university electronics class. The parts came quickly and were in nice condition. It was very easy to set up and solder everything together, very no-hassle. My only issue was that the ground point was a little small and difficult to solder everything onto if you went for some of the optional features.

Once completed, it packs a very nice punch for a 9 volt battery, and sounds pretty clean to boot. I haven't played with the adjustable tone pot, so I cannot speak much for that. The only thing I would change is that it did not come with screws to attach the battery mount to the housing. Other than that, a very easy DIY project with a lot of utility for the price.

The Tascam iXZ just popped up on my radar. As a voice over home studio consultant, I look for products like these to improve the lives of my clients. I don't usually buy new gadgets for which I haven't read a review previously, but at $50 I couldn't resist. So I figured why not be the first to review this affordable audio interface and see how well it works?

It seems that recording professional audio into an iPhone was never part of Steve Job's master plan.

While we wait for the ultimate audio interface that connects to the iPhone via the dock connector with a digital signal, other products some to be coming along to fill the gap. The Tascam iXZ is the first one I've seen that really boils the features down to the basics in a very portable package, while still accepting a phantom powered studio condenser microphone.

The iXZ's multifunction XLR/phono combo jack will allow connection to a standard 3 pin XLR mic cable, or to a 1/4" guitar cable. It provides 48V phantom power at up to 5ma, enough for many modern mics. I metered the XLR connector and sure enough there's about 46V DC with a fresh pair of AA alkaline batteries. It's enough to power my Audio Technica AT3035 microphone with appearant ease. There's a variable input gain control dial, which isn't calibrated. It also has an 1/8" mini headphone jack for playback purposes. Sadly, it doesn't provide a "Zero latency monitoring" function to listen to the mic in your headphones while recording.

The iXZ does not come with any software, which is just fine with me. I'd much rather not waste time with some inappropriate for VO bundled application. Buy TwistedWave from the app store for $10, plug in the iZX into the headphone jack, plug in your mic, power it on, engage phantom power, hit record, set your levels, and you're recording. TwistedWave is incredibly feature reach for an iOS app, even providing the ability to process the audio through effects and FTP files. It can also deliver MP3's via their own server, a necessary workaround since Apple won't permit encoding to MP3 on an iOS device.

But does it work?

That depends on what you want to use it for. If your intention is to replace your Macbook or other laptop and audio interface with this unit for all of your work, I wouldn't go that far. It's defintely quite useable for making an audition happen while traveling. And with proper noise gate settings, you might even pull off a job here and there in a pinch.

I did test it with my T-Mobile MyTouch 4G phone, and it DOES work. However, my phone's recording quality was no where as good as the iPod Touch's. A good deal of the recording quality is thanks to the iPod itself.

To summarize, here's a Pros and Cons list.

PROS:

Cheap, only slightly more than an XLR adapter cable to connect a dynamic mic

Very compact and light

15 hrs on a pair of AA batteries when using phantom powered mics

Works better than the price would imply

Will work with an Android phone, as well as most all Apple iOS devices

CONS:

A tad bit noisy (no worse than a Blue Snowball)

No "zero latency monitoring" for headphones while recording

Connects to analog line input instead of digital dock connector

Very short cable to connect to device, making it hard to read a script from your phone while holding it

Like other devices that rely on the dual-purpose analog I/O jack on iOS devices, the Tascam iXZ succeeds in delivering a signal, but fails for overdubbing. When headphones are plugged into the the iXZ, some of the headphone output signal is mixed with the microphone signal and returned to the iOS device input, making it practically useless for recording overdubs. Even for non-overdub situations, users should avoid having headphones plugged into the iXZ, as it will mix extra noise into the recorded signal. I suspect that this is behind the noise complaints of other users. Even though the problem seems to be with Apple's design, as it has been noted by users of all competing products, manufacturers should alert potential customers to this caveat. I believe they are ethically obligated to do so, and I'm deeply disappointed with Tascam for not mentioning it.

It is possible, in some circumstances, to work around this problem by carefully pulling the headphone partway out of the headphone jack on the iXZ. The range over which bleed disappears altogether is tiny, so it takes some patience to find it. At that point, the headphones will receive a mono signal (probably either the right or left channel delivered to both sides of the headphones). I used the metronome in Garageband, watching the record meter carefully as I worked the jack in and out until the click was no longer deflecting the meter at all but the headphones were still receiving it. It took a great deal of trial and error too much to be practical, but I was stuck with that solution and had to get the recording made, so I did it just that once. Never again. In the future, I may try using a device that has its own DAC and connects via the camera kit or something. But I'm through recording into the jack until Apple redesigns it to isolate the I/O signals from each other (not holding my breath).

The mic pre in the iXZ sounds about like what you'd expect to get for ~$40 not too pretty, not too solid, but adequate if all you need is to get some semblance of the sound recorded. It compares favorably with, say, an ART Tube MP. But if you're used to something even as humble as mBox or Presonus pres, the iXZ will decidedly disappoint. Weak, hollow, and harsh would be almost appropriate descriptors. (By the way, the microphone I used was an sE X1, which sounds lovely in all other uses I've put it to.)

All thing considered, including the price, I'm actually happy I made the purchase. I mean, you can easily spend twice that going out to eat, right? It's a lot cheaper than 2 hours in a pro recording studio. For a few bucks and several minutes of frustration, I was able to capture vocals that will provide a demo-quality reference for advancement of the project. It's better than recording to a 4-track cassette or something. At least the vocals popped right back into Pro Tools with sample accuracy. So, hey, for all the criticism, I have to admit, it wasn't completely awful. I wouldn't recommend it for anything other than capturing sounds "wild" (without reference to other audio). But ultimately, it got the job done.

I bought this to record on my iPad. The quality is fantastic with the exception of some noise bleed from other tracks. The best way around this is to either refrain from using headphones or keep the headphone volume very low. In any case the sound bleed is hardly noticeable and this interface does what it needs to which is to record good quality sound at an affordable price.

I record audio and wanted this little box so I could do it on my iPad Mini (Lightning connector) and my iPod & original iPad (30-pin connectors), but didn't want to suffer compatibility issues. This is precisely the right tool to get audio into all my iOS devices, including my large diaphragm condenser mic. Solid name brand and another product that delivers exactly what I need.

I'm an Android user, not an iWhatever user. As such, this pertains only to Android use, which does work by the way :)

I'm running an HTC Evo View/Flyer tablet with Android 3.2, mainly with Jaytronix' J4T 4-track, and Single Cell's LoopStack app. Your milage may vary elsewhere.

There's nothing overly fancy here. Just a simple way to get any kind of mono signal you want into your device, including phantom powered condensor mics. As this is currently thirty dollars, which is only about ten more than simple cable adapters, I found that added xlr & phantom option was worth it.

And it works as advertised. Actually beyond that since they say nothing about Android support :)

The downside is the lack of live monitoring. From what I understand, there's a latency issue with Android at this point at the root of the issue. So you plug in your guitar start your app recording and you don't hear what you're playing via the headphones. When you play it back, you can hear it. When you go to overdub a second track, you can hear the recorded track(s) playback, but again, not your live signal. This can make it tricky for electric instrument (egsolid body guitar) tracking, and impossible for purely electronic instruments (egsynths). But if you're in a quiet space, with a guitar and/or your voice, it's doable. And with my setup, I had no issues with any syncing of overdubs with other tracks, especially if I slid one side of my headphones off.

That may be a deal breaker for you. And it'd make sense if it was honestly.

I had thoughts of splitting off my signal from the guitar to the iXZ & a pocket sized amp to better hear what I'm playing. With the right setup, it could still easily fit in your guitars case without trouble.

As for the sound quality, it's decent. Nothing special. I found that having the input level dimed overloaded my mic input extremely quickly. So dialing it back a few notches was necessary. Taking it back half way if I wanted to really hit it hard. Is it better than the internal microphone? It depends. Using a decent mic on voice was a definite improvement. Giving my voice more focus and clarity on the track. With electric guitar, obviously it was an improvement. Acoustic instruments vary from the same to better, never worse. So there's that :)

Overall the usefullness of the iXz is dependant on your needs. If the onboard mics of your device are decent, and you only do acoustic work, then maybe it's unecessary. But if you play something electric, you need an interface. And as no interface out there will allow live signal monitoring at this point, it's something you'll have to live/work with if you need that interface. And as I said before, the flexability:cost ratio of this makes it the one to buy as far as I'm concerned. So it's 4 stars in the context of what's possible, and what it offers for the price (current sale, not MSRP). But as technology advances, this could quickly become obsolete.
