Like most everyone else, I bought this to fit in tight quarters in my vehicle for my mp3 player. After using it for only about a few weeks, it started giving me problems. I have to have it twisted, tucked and rolled at the proper angle for both the left and right channel to work. If not, the left channel disappears. Huge pain when having to constantly adjust it when skipping songs...all while driving. I wouldn't recommend this to anybody.

I needed right angle plugs to make connecting my Zune to my car stereo alot easier and to clean up the look.

The staight plugs stuck out too far and left too much loose cable flopping around.

The 3 foot cable I ordered was just the right length and the angle plugs makes it easier to route and hide the extra cable. The cable and connectors are of excellent build and quality. And the price was cheaper than the straight cable I bought at radio shack.

We've all had hundreds of these at some point in our lives. They work great until they don't. They wear out. It's hard to give a real review until after it breaks. I expect cables like this to last at least a year. The last one I bought (not the same seller) only lasted about 7 months, so don't buy THAT one. Who knows how long this one will last? Even so, the longevity of one cable from the same manufacturer probably doesn't indicate how the next cable will fair. It was cheap.

I bought this because I wanted a short cable with right-angle jacks so it would look nice (relatively) in my Yukon. The right-angle jacks keep the cord from having to bend 90ยบ which should increase the life of the cable considerably. I don't need a long cable for my iPhone which is just going to sit 12" away in a cup holder. Gold plated? Whoop-de-do.

Review UPDATED 3.25.2011!

Well, my cable is now worthless. It already has a short in it. You have to place it just right for the sound to work. I promise I'm not being hard on it. One end stays plugged in to the radio in my Yukon and the wire lays in the tray in front of my cupholders until I plug it in to my iPhone. I don't yank on it ever. I hit play on the iPhone and then it sits in the nearby cupholder. When I'm done, I unplug it by pulling on the jack and not the wire. Wouldn't you think something would last longer than THREE months? I have an old cable that came with a Sony Discman that I bought in 1993 that still works. Why can't cables work as well as that one still does?

I have been looking for a right angle cable to use in my car for a while. This seemed like a good deal so I ordered it. In less than a week it began to short out. It was a low price but you get what you pay for.

I ordered 2 of these cables initially, one for my car and one for my wife's. One of them worked fine, and is still working. The other was unfortunately DOA -it only transmitted the left channel. As soon as I contacted the seller (Valley Enterprises) asking for a replacement, they sent me a new one. We used it gently and it worked well for seven months, until it started shorting out again in January. This was frustrating, so I made a complaint without asking for a refund, since I was well out of the 30-day warranty period. Even so, I was happy to be offered an improved replacement cable!

The guy at Valley Enterprises replied to my complaint with the following: "Portable audio cables are a consumable product. Meaning they don't have a long life span. We have been experimenting with some new cable materials to see if we can get a longer lifespan while still keeping them flexible and slim. We will be introducing a new version next month that includes Kevlar inside the cable to keep the cables from shorting out as that seems to be what causes a short life span."

By February, he had shipped me this new-and-improved cable. It's still a 3' right-angle cable with gold connectors, but it seems a little more stout. I can't really verify if there is Kevlar inside the cable or not, but it seems to be working well so far. I also can't verify if they have totally replaced this old design with the Kevlar design... but the main point of this review is that the company stands behind their products, and I really respect that.

I am furious. I finally take these out of the packaging and they are very attractive headphones. I used them with my iPod Touch 5th Generation and they sounded good nothing spectacular, but nice nonetheless... I have been using them for 3 weeks almost. THEN... The right side goes out. I was like there is no way in the world these could have just went out like that. I thought something was wrong with my iPod. Then I took them out of the iPod and connected them to another mp3 player for good measure. Nope, nothing! This would be the moment when I find out THERE IS NO WARRANTY! The only way to get one is to purchase from "special" dealers. And the iDance site is TERRIBLE! Their support pages link you to the free audio software and about 15 downloadable pics! How is that support? Can pictures repair my headphones? NO. Main lesson learned, all "i"products are not Apple. Second lesson learned, never purchase based off of looks of the product description alone. And my final lesson, always check the warranty! I am soooo happy I have my Beats Headphones on the way! What a waste of money. I am so happy I waited to write a review.

I was attracted to this product first by design and color. They, along with others from the same maker, are some of the best looking headphones on the market. However, they do not keep up technically if you are using them directly in the club scene as a DJ. Just for light usage at low volume.

It wasn't clear to me from looking at the picture, but the cable is built like heavy gauge speaker cable with a separate left and right cable joined together, so it was twice as thick as I expected. I wanted a thick cable, but this might be overkill. The construction is great, I would recommend it if you're looking for a super heavy duty cable.

Absolutely no quality loss with this cable. I quickly switched the headphone jack between the receiver and the end of the cable and there is no difference in quality. Using Sennheiser HD595's. Also it's very long.

I think the scrap value of the copper is worth what I paid for the whole cable. I have it set up in my living room so I can use my headphones at night when the kids are asleep. Works great well made.

SEE UPDATE BELOW.

If you go to Monoprice's website, you can easily find they make a "25ft Premium 3.5mm Stereo Male to 3.5mm Stereo Female 22AWG Extension Cable (Gold Plated) Black" which they describe as "The 3.5mm (1/8") stereo TRS connector is more commonly known as the Headphone Jack on portable mp3 players and mobile phones. This cable features a male 3.5mm stereo (TRS) plug on one end and a female 3.5mm stereo jack on the other end, each with molded connector housings and strain relief boots. Each connector is gold-plated to ensure smooth, corrosion-free connections. The cable is made of heavy-duty coaxial cable for each conductor. The conductors are 22AWG and each conductor is shield to prevent EMI or RFI interference from entering your audio system. The cable is 12mm x 6mm thick, while the connector housings are 41mm long x 15mm diameter. Because of their size and weight these cables are best suited for more permanent connections, such as from your PC to your sound system. If you want something more suitable for portable applications, please try one of our standard 3.5mm audio cables." That sounded like what I wanted, so I ordered it, even though some customers had been ripped off with an el-cheapo substitute.

Anyway, I got a plain cable in a plain ziplock bag without any identifiers of who made it, with a single cylindrical (not asymmetric shaped dual) cable, and with both plug and jack that are clearly different from what Monoprice and Amazon both show on their website.

I have written the Amazon vendor, and asked them to send me the correct item. Even if they do, I'll never use that vendor again.

I knew that other folks wrote that they got what seems to be the Monoprice cable, and others wrote that also had been ripped off. Amazon, please make your vendors supply what is described: what's happening here is sort of like ordering a RollsRoyce, and sometimes getting a Yugo. Not cool.

Update 23JAN2013: The vendor refunded my purchase price, & said I could keep the cable. So I got a cheap cable for free (minus the hassle factor of multiple e-mails, and them wanting photos of what I got, and wasted time).

I reordered the MP cable, as I want a heavy-duty one, this time buying it from Monoprice (who sells their cables at the Amazon website) and the correct one just arrived. it's in a clear plastic bag with the word Monoprice & various codes and a scancode & "Made in China" on the tag, and the cable itself says Monoprice in fine print.

If you get a cable that doesn't say Monoprice, I'd bet it ain't Monoprice.

Want Monoprice 105591 25-Feet Premium Stereo Male to Stereo Female 22AWG Extension Cable - Black Discount?

Extra heavy duty! This is a great product; the cable is thickly insulated; and the connectors on either end are made to take punishment. I use mine everyday and have been dragging it around a few months now and the cable and the connectors have remained undamaged. I tried a cheaper alternative that had lighter duty insulation and end connectors and wound up spending more to replace them. Don't do what I did; buy this well made cable and avoid the hassle and expense of having to buy more then once.

Lastly the cable has provided a flawless connection to my equipment; what more can you ask.

Highly recommended.

When I received is violin, I was very happy. Of course, I knew there would be issues seeing as the price was very cheap. I had to get a few defective parts replaced, but the overall cost was still very affordable, even with the repairs I had done. For the price, the violin isn't that bad. It sounds good. I wouldn't suggest using the headphones it came with though. They aren't very good and make a lot of background noise. So far everything is holding up.

I wouldn't consider myself an "audiophile" in the strictest sense of the word. I do, however, like to enjoy my music the way I believe it was meant to be heard. In my experience, Shure earphones provide some of the best sound quality for the price. While they are not in any way cheap, there are certainly far more expensive options out there.

I have used a pair of Shure E4c's for the past three years on an almost daily basis. I absolutely loved them. Unfortunately with that much use the cords began to get brittle and started to fray until a few weeks ago, one of the wires finally completely cut out. This is a common occurrence for all earphones which are used extensively. I contacted Shure customer service to inquire about repairs, replacement, and their advice on a comparable product now available. Shure's customer service delivered a highly detailed and cordial response within 24 hours. I learned that I could repair my E4c's for around $110. Alternatively, I was told that the Shure SE315's were being released in September and they were in the price range I originally paid for my E4c's. So, I decided to go on Amazon and pre-order the SE315's.

Today I received them in the mail. They are somewhat larger than my old E4c's, however I think they are more ergonomically in line with my ears, thus they are more comfortable. There are a number of improvements that Shure has made over the E4c's. First, the cords are now detachable. This is an enormous evolution and easily the best feature of these earphones. If the cord does go bad some years down the road, I can order a replacement for a fraction of the cost of full repair. Second, the top of the cord, near the earphone, is now moldable. Thus you can mold the cord easily over your ear and it stays put. It is also made with kevlar, making it more durable and hopefully, less prone to the problems of past cords.

Finally, the sound quality itself is much, much improved. The bass is full and rich with absolutely no distortion. The highs are also incredible and you can hear even the slightest nuances in music, even at low levels. Truth be told, I have been listening to songs just to see how they now sound with these new earphones. They sound that good. In fact, in some songs I have heard entire new sounds and noises that I'd never heard before.

I use high quality digital files and a Zune HD to listen to my music. I don't use an amp. Like I said, I'm not an "audiophile" but I can appreciate a good set of earphones and realize that to enjoy your music to its fullest you need to invest in a good pair. If you are happy with the stock earbuds that come with an iPod Touch or the equivalent, something like the Shure SE315's is certainly not for you. That said, once you experience the truly unbelievable sound quality these deliver, I believe no one can go back.

The best sound from new earbuds comes after 400-500 hours of playback after the driver has had a chance to get worked in. However, the SE315's already sound a magnitude better than the E3c's. I am ecstatic with my purchase. If you have the money to spend, you can't go wrong with these earphones. Having listened to the Shure SE425's I honestly can't recommend them over the SE315's given the $100 premium. The SE315's sound absolutely amazing and in my opinion, are worth more than $200.

With Shure's two year warranty and excellent customer service, the SE315's are a downright awesome purchase, not to mention they sound spectacular. Trust me, with the SE315's, you will be rediscovering your music all over again.

****October 26, 2010 Update****

After using these everyday for the past month, I feel even better about my purchase, if that is possible. The clarity of these earphones is nothing short of amazing, which has made my listening of radio on my Zune HD a hit or miss affair. Regular FM radio sounds compressed, garbled, and full of audio artifacts, not to mention static. Luckily, HD radio sounds a lot better. I primarily use my Zune to listen to my own library of music, but it's nice to hear the radio sometimes. These earphones will provide you with both the good and the bad in that regard. Still, listening to my personal library has never been more enjoyable.

Also, the new design of these earphones is fantastic when it comes to listening to them in bed. I will listen to music or watch movies on Netflix on my iPad at night, and I can now do so on my side. The design of these earphones is such that when they are in your ear, they are flush with the side of your ear. Therefore, you can lay on your side without them jutting into your ear and causing pain and discomfort. These are the only earphones I've ever had where this was possible. It makes for a huge difference in using them when I lay down or go to sleep, as I now can lay on either side or my back.

Overall, I still have no complaints. These earphones were a great purchase.

****December 2, 2010 Update****

I guess I am a little surprised by the 3 star reviews some others have been giving these earphones. However when I look at the complaints, they are all valid for the most part. If you aren't used to earphones like these there is definitely an introduction/break-in period that you go through. I do, however, disagree with people complaining about the sound quality. But that is an opinion.

As for my continued use, not much has changed. I still use them almost daily and they have been holding up fantastically. No signs of sound or cord degradation at all. I still maintain that they are very comfortable, but it always depends more on what you were coming from I guess. If you absolutely loved how your old earphones fit then any change will be jarring. However I am completely used to these now and love them. Was still a great purchase and I still whole heartedly recommend these.

****July 20, 2011 Update****

My earphones have been through quite a lot since I purchased them in September 2010. I've used them on an almost daily basis, and for very long periods of time in some cases. Since I've purchased them, I listen to them almost nightly, while I go running, and around the house on the weekends. They have also accompanied me on a flight to Las Vegas and back, (from Florida) as well as on international flights from Philadelphia to Barcelona and back. Needless to say, I still loved them and they have been performing great.

So, you can imagine my shock and horror when my left bud suddenly stopped working last week. I quickly went on Shure's website and printed out the requisite forms to send my earphones in for repair and mailed them out on Monday, July 11th. I figured I would not wait to put Shure's 2 year all inclusive warranty to the test. On Wednesday, July 13th I received an email notification that they had received my earphones and that I would be contacted if there were any issues. And then today, July 20th, I received my earphones back from Shure, the malfunctioning earbud replaced with a new one. And all is good and great in the world! But seriously, I received my earphones back from repair in 9 days, at least 4 of which were shipping, and 2 were over the weekend. So Shure's team turned around my warranty claim, replaced my earphone, and shipped it back to me in about three days.

When mailing my earphones to Shure I was resigned to having to wait weeks, maybe even over a month to receive them back. This had nothing to do with Shure, just expectations from previous warranty repairs in the past I've had to deal with from other companies. I am ecstatic about the service and ease of which it took place. Shure clearly stands by their products and obviously honors their warranty. Again, I love these earphones and this experience has made me even more confident in choosing Shure.

****January 08, 2013 Update****

It has been another year and a half since my last update and I am happy to report that these earphones are still going strong and still sound great. I have had no problems and I still use them on almost a daily basis. I am not sure what the newest models are like at this point, but I am still very confident in recommending these after several years and thousands of hours logged listening to music, playing games, and watching movies. Still highly recommended!

I *really* wanted to like these earbuds, and they are a fine product with many good features, but ultimately they were not the best solution for me. As a working drummer I have been regularly gigging for the last five years, using Shure E2's exclusively. I've put up with the E2's deficient bass response and inevitable cable rot because they offer great isolation (essential for live drumming), they're affordable, and they fit me very well. The cable rot was an issue, the first time I encountered it, Shure's truly stellar customer service team replaced the entire units, even though they were about a month away from warranty expiration. I cut apart the brand-new set and immediately put heat-shrink tubing over the wires to prevent them from rotting. Why Shure can't fix such a simple problem, I don't know.

I was hoping that they had addressed the lack of bass and the cable rot with the new SE315's. It appears that their solution to the cable rot is to make a replaceable cable. I was skeptical about the quality of the connector used at that location, but it appears to be quite robust. I rotated and flexed them around while listening, and detected no sign of an intermittent connection. Shure did improve the bass response noticeably, but unfortunately they seemed to have bumped up the midrange too, and that was the deal-breaker for me. I found them uncomfortable to listen to. This has always been a bit of a problem for me with the E2's also, they always seemed a little too hot in the midrange. I just assumed that it was because they were designed as stage monitors, and so it was important to hear the vocals above all else. When I fired up the SE315's and found that the midrange was even hotter, I made the sad decision to return them.

There was also a slight fit issue for me with the SE315's. The may have been trying to make them lower-profile, so they wouldn't protrude from your ears. Unfortunately these contact my FRONT ear lobe, in a way the E2's never did. After only about 20 minutes of wearing them, I was feeling some discomfort. Maybe over time I would adjust to this, but with the midrange issue I wasn't interested in finding out.

One other thing; When I first received the SE315's, they had the new foam-style pads installed. I am not a fan of any of the foam pads, I greatly prefer the silicone pads, they are way more comfortable, and most importantly go in and out of your ears almost instantly (a must for rehearsals). When I tried to take the foam pads off, it was VERY difficult. This was compounded by the fact that the tube is smaller diameter and seems much more fragile than the E2's. I was actually afraid I was going to break my brand-new buds, that's how bad it was. Not sure why they chose to downsize it, the E2's were fine, and seem a lot more rugged.

As it turns out, you can still get E2's, in the form of SCL2's (same thing), for about $100. That was the final nail in the coffin for the SE315's. I returned them and bought TWO pairs of the SCL2's with the money.

By the way, if you just want to listen to music and don't need the super high isolation, my go-to earbuds are Sony MDL-EX71's. I have not found any earbuds that I like as much as those, the sound is fantastic, the value is incredible, and they are all-day comfortable. In my opinion they sound better than the Shures. If they offered the isolation that the Shures do, I would use them live, but I have tried it and it does not work.

Buy Shure SE315-CL Sound Isolating Earphone, Hi-Definition Micro Speaker with Tuned Bass Port (Clear) Now

The SE315 are marvelous headphones. It APPEARS Shure has solved ALMOST every issue with their previous headphones.

Pros:

* They're Shure headphones, so they sound great and come with lots of different tips for nearly any preference.

* The in-ear comfort is exactly the same has previous Shure entries. If you've owned Shure before, you know what you are getting into for fit.

* The replaceable cable is something that was SORELY needed. Nothing is worse than paying $200+ on a pair of headphones and having the cord break just out of warranty and it cost nearly the purchase price to have them replaced by Shure. Now just replace a $50 cable which admittedly is expensive, but a lot less than it would have been with previous Shure headphones.

* The body of the headphone itself is angled differently, so they are more flush to your ear. They should work better with earmufs, ear on a pillow, etc.

* The "over the ear" part of the cable is now covered in a thin foam-like sheath, so hopefully less cord breakage which has plagued Shure headphones.

* The 1/8" jack now seems sturdier than previous models and is angled, so it should last longer.

Cons

* Yup, they're Shure so yup, their expensive.

* I loved that on my previous two Shure headphones that the cord split in the MIDDLE, so if the part of the cord connected to the 1/8" jack needed to be replaced, it was a cheap replacement. Also, if the cord gets jerked away (caught on something) it just disconnected in the middle. This feature is gone. The cord is one single piece like with other headphones.

* The 1/8" jack itself, while beefy and angled (both great features) is REALLY fat about 1 cm wide. If you don't use a case (like I do for my iPhone), you'll be fine BUT if you do use a case, I think there is an EXCELLENT chance you won't be able to plug in the headphones unless you ream the case hole wider (which is what did, using a knife), get a case with a huge headphone jack hole, or stop using a case (not an option for me).

Overall, I'd mark the SE315's as about 4.5/5. They are three steps forward (yay replaceable cable) and one step back (HUGE headphone jack and a single piece cable instead of a split cable design). I do intend to get the "CBL-M+-K" for the iPhone mic and music controls and maybe that will have a more svelte 1/8" jack.

Read Best Reviews of Shure SE315-CL Sound Isolating Earphone, Hi-Definition Micro Speaker with Tuned Bass Port (Clear) Here

Before you go off looking at all these reviews, you need to understand one thing:

1) IF YOU DON'T USE THEM PROPERLY:

a) the noise cancellation isn't going to work well

b) You aren't going to hear the true bass or quality if you don't know the proper way to put these in your ears, and make sure the ear buds are deep in your ear and have made a SEAL

90% of the any negative comments are usually about sound quality, bass, the headphones not staying on the ears, etc. And 90% of that is due to people not taking the time or effort to understand how to use these right. You have to put them on correctly. And yes, the added plastic that is bendable at the end of the earbuds work GREAT.....if you wrap them around your ear properly and bend it enough so that they do not come off your ear. You have to really bend that plastic around, even down to the very low end of the ear in back. When you do, these suckers will stay on if you're doing somersaults...so the claims that these earbuds don't stay on your ears is nonsense.

Ok yea the bass. It's not like it's gonna be so loud that it's going to blast your ears but the bass is very good IF again you seal the earbuds right. That means again, making sure you use the RIGHT earbuds for YOU. There are several types of sleeves. Experiment and try each of them out. Don't just try the default black spongy sleeves. And with any of the sleeves you gotta put them DEEP in your ear. I found the 3 studded white earbuds work the best at least for me. They get right in there deep in your ear, they don't bruise your ear or make you uncomfortable either, and they really seal your ear so you hear very high quality out of these earphones. You'll know when you have put it on right when you can barely hear a thing, the noise cancellation should be working well before you even turn on the music and you'll know when you've got them in right..trust me. You have to really make sure you aim the earbuds to the middle of your ear canal and then push those suckers in hard! they're not going to damage your ear, just try it for once!

As far as the wires going bad I have not experienced that yet. I know I did have a defective pair that I did have to return to Guitar Center but they replaced them in no time and the new ones are just fine. I even called Shure about it and their customer service seemed fine to me, the guy said absolutely not should they have been tripping out like that. Sure enough, the new ones Shure sent guitar center that I now have are working great. I've owned shure headphones before. So far, I don't see why people are saying the quality or quality is not there. Again there will be defective buds here and there.

No I do not work for Shure (I'm sure I will get some trolls here so wanted to put that out there also). I'm a Software engineer who listens to music DAILY at work while I code and so I use these suckers a lot. They've been great as long as again you use them correctly people. Read the d*** manual for once ok? Yea there's not a lot there but it does tell you how to properly wrap them around your ears and it takes a few times to get used to it and get it right. Be patient, don't give a product 1 star just because YOU haven't made an effort to do your due dilligence to check whether maybe it's YOU who aren't doing something right and to try it for a while and find out that all these issues are nonexistent in reality once you get the hang of it.

Want Shure SE315-CL Sound Isolating Earphone, Hi-Definition Micro Speaker with Tuned Bass Port (Clear) Discount?

For the past year, I had been using a pair of Monster Turbine In-Ear Speakers (one of the very few Monster products that isn't actually over-priced). However, towards the end of its life, I started noticing some sound interruption in the right channel. Considering the Turbines had extremely thin and delicate looking cables, I'm surprised they lasted as long as they did. Anyways, it was time for me to hit the earphone market again.

Ever since I graduated beyond the generic buds bundled with MP3 players, I have had to cry myself to sleep way too often when a brilliant pair of earphones is rendered useless by a ruined cable. I decided I'd had enough of that and was determined to get one with replaceable cables this time around. Having also used the Shure SCL2 in the past, I was well-aware of the sound signature of Shures and decided that the new member to my family would be a Shure. From there on, the decision was easy and made mostly by my wallet. The Shure SE535s (triple-driver), and Shure SE 425s (dual driver) weren't too friendly with my I-spent-way-too-much-money-on-booze-last-weekend-so-now-I'm-a-broke-college-student wallet, so the Shure SE 315s were the logical choice for me.

Before I get down to reviewing the product, you should know this review is based off of about 3-5 hours of listening. I haven't had the chance to burn them in yet, and once I have logged about 200 or so hours of usage, I will come back to update my review. These are some of the songs I sampled immediately after receiving my earphones. In my opinion, these songs together brilliantly cover all ranges from the lows to the highs Staralfur (Sigur Ros), Archaic Patterns (Eno), Let the Drummer Kick (Citizen Cope), 21 Guns (Green Day) and Intensity in Ten Cities (Chiodos).

Mids and Highs:

Reproduction of mid and high frequencies on the SE 315s are pristine, impeccable and flawless (at least to my ear. I have a discerning ear, but cannot claim to be an audiophile). You know how people always claim to have `heard things in a song they had never heard before' ? I now know what they've been talking about. In songs like Staralfur (Sigur Ros), Intensity in Ten Cities and Archaic Patterns it was beautiful. Also for the first time, I am seriously considering completely making the switch to lossless formats. I generally hover around 192 kbps to 224 kbps when ripping my discs, but once again, for the first time it seems I can hear the flaws. I'm definitely going to rip some of my CDs in FLAC and sample them with these earphones.

Bass:

Undoubtedly, bass reproduction in these instruments is on the lower side. I do realize to expect improvements once they are past the burning in phase, but even then, I expect them to be a little conservative when it comes to bass. Now, for me this wasn't a problem. After spending an year with the Monster Turbines, I got my fix of bass. Initially, it felt really good the strong, thumping bass. After a while, it started getting on my nerves a little bit because the bass on them used to overpower delicate mids and highs. Thus, I was looking for earphones that took it easy on the bass and thus the SE 315s suit me perfectly. However, realize that if you are a bass junkie, and need to feel the thump in your ears, these probably aren't meant for you. The bass reproduction on these is light. The thump and the kick of the bass exist, but is never overpowering. The quality of reproduction of bass on the SE 315s fall somewhere in between my previous earphones, the Monster Turbines, and my current headphones, the Grado SR 60i. The 215s don't have overpowering, shallow bass, yet the bass is nowhere as roomy, deep and true as my Grado's. Not a fair comparison though as the Grados, by merit of being open-air, are bound to have a much wider soundstage.

Be well aware of this before making the purchase. For many, music is no fun without strong bass, and for those people I would strongly recommend Monster's line of earphones.

Cables and Fit:

One of the greatest pros for these earphones is the user-replaceable cables. Thus I feel they deserve a section of their own.

The cable length is generous, extending to about 6 feet. Ample length to reach to the player in your pocket and have some room so as not to tug on it.

The earphones are meant to be worn over the ear so that the cord loops around your ear and suspends the earphones into your ear. It is comfortable to wear them that way so much so that when I made the shift from my Shure SCL 2 to the Monsters, I continued wearing them over the ear. It gives a certain measure of protection to the cable so that if you accidentally tug on the cable, the part where it attaches to the earphones does not get strained.

The part of the cable that goes around your ear has a coating of a certain material that makes them very stiff and moldable. The point of that is so you shape them to your ear and they remain that way. However, the initial fit can be quite frustrating and time consuming. When I put them on for the first time, it took me a good 20min to get it into my ear and get a good seal. Subsequently, it won't take you more than about 15-20sec, which is still more than usual earphones. However, the excellent sound quality your ear receives afterwards makes it worth the trouble.

Packaging:

Finally, I conclude with packaging. Nothing much to write here except that the box the earphones is sold in surprisingly needs to be torn to open them. The box is sealed with a rather strong adhesive and in the process of opening it, even though I tried to be gentle in case I felt the need to return them, I ended up tearing the box. I wonder if that would be a problem with Amazon should you feel the need to return. Be patient and gentle while opening the box.

The earphones come with a huge collection of ear buds, earwax cleaner and a very nice earphone carry case. Use it, it's good for the earphones.

Conclusion:

These are great earphones. They definitely don't come cheap, and I wouldn't say there aren't better alternatives in the market at the same price point, however the replaceable cables actually makes them a much better long term investment. You would not want to purchase expensive earphones only to have to discard them an year later due to a faulty wire.

Fitting and wearing these will take a lot of getting used to, however, the seal is excellent and sound isolation is amazing too. Once again, mids and highs are stellar, bass is definitely underpowered so keep that in mind too.

Update:

About 3-4 days into using these earphones I started noticing some stuttering / cutting of audio in the right channel. Seems like the cable or the connection at the earphone was loose. Anyways, I've requested a replacement from Amazon, and its on its way. Mistakes happen, defects slip through even the strictest QA and Amazon's speedy response more than makes up for it. Won't be deducting a star for this.

PC speaker cable extension worked great. Allowed user to have speakers rather far away from computer tower. Amazon shipping was fast as well.

I have been on the search for a good quality 1/8" stereo extension cord, 12 feet long or greater, for months now. I am even willing to pay outlandish prices for over-hyped products by brands like Monster. Unfortunately, it seems that the only items available with this length are all knock-off trash, and this cord is no exception.

What I really need is a power conditioner, but they tend to be quite costly. The AC outlet power in the various apartments in which I have resided has never been clean. I already battle this constantly when playing electric guitar, which picks up the 60Hz hum like a Swiffer wet mop to dust, but to have it carry over to my computer speakers is even more frustrating. Here's the scenario: I wish to play music from my laptop computer, so I plug into my Klipsch computer speakers, which produce clean audio. Due to the layout of my place, I need a longer cord, so I use a 6 foot Belkin extension (this: Belkin PureAV AV20602-06 6-Foot Mini-Stereo Extension Cable) which is very good and results in ZERO signal interference. Unfortunately, Belkin only offers this in a 6 foot length. When I move my computer across the room to my drafting table, I need an additional 10 to 12 feet of cord, and that's when the problems arise. I have tried numerous cords for this, none of which had a recognizable brand name, and they have all been about as useful as connecting tin cans with string and calling it a phone. Sure, they get the audio from my computer to the speakers, but pick up every stray electromagnetic wave along the way. The key is the power cord for my laptop. Unplug that, and the problem disappears. Sadly, it's a brand-spanking new HP cord, and I know it's not defective because the old one, and a cheap aftermarket one that I also used had the same problem (the cheap one caused worse interference).

So here's the bottom line for you TL;DR people. This cord will work to connect your iPod (or other MP3 player) to your headphones, or your car's stereo aux input. If you want good clean audio signals between a computer and speakers, however, while running on unconditioned AC power, this dainty, unshielded cord is not going to cut the mustard. At this point it looks like my best bet is to daisy-chain a few more Belkin cords together. Even with the degradation from multiple connections, I think the quality will still be better. If anyone knows of a hefty, name-brand, overpriced 12 foot audio extension that I could buy, PLEASE leave a note in the comments section below. Good night, and good luck.

Great price and the cord works......what more could one ask for?

Looked at similar products locally for considerably more money but then I remembered my recent Amazon purchase of an HDMI cable.

I had purchased an HDMI cable at Wal-Mart for approximately $16.00 and my daughter noted that I had Amazon Prime why was I spending so much at Wal-Mart?

After I checked out the price of Amazon Basics (approximately $6.00), ordered it and returned the other to Wal-Mart!

Not a bad kit, be aware that it might not include the dummies book and cd, but if you complain you could get a partial refund!!,

Anyway, its a lot of fun and sounds good through head phones. still havent figured out a good set up for amplification, but a guitar amp sounds a bit dodgy with this one.

Also the hi hat pedal is not very responsive, and bass drum not very loud, but I dont know if thats common with electronic drums, works fine after a bit of getting used to it.

All in all, not a top of the line, but neither is the price, a nice toy.. do it

Pros:

-The signal strength is good; I can walk all around my apartment and only get a few drop outs.

-They paired with my mac and cell phone easily enough.

-The buttons are easy to push.

-The sound is decent.

Battery life is great.

Cons:

The fit is too tight; they become uncomfortable after a half hour of use.

The mic pics up too much other noise for them to be useful for phone conversations.

Just received it and charged it. Charging went really fast I am assuming it was shipped nearly charged. Tried to Pair with my iPad would not work. So, I tried with my iPhone success! But, the minute I tried to leave the music app and do something else it disconnected and lost the link. This does not seem to me to be user friendly, I do not see how anyone could accept this method of operation. So, I am hoping this one is defective and have requested to return it. I ordered two this one came from the seller 1ON1 and the other is supposed to be coming from Amazon. I will update this if there is any change to my opinion of the headset once I have another to try.

UPDATE Just got the second headset I ordered. Still a very fast charge. This time the headset linked with my iPhone without a problem. I can answer the phone and it goes back to my music. I can leave the music program and read/send email without interrupting the music. Sound is so-so but very acceptable. On the phone I sound "muffled" to the person I am talking. It does a lot of "skipping" at a distance (over 15 feet) but it still does some skipping even when sitting at the desk next to the phone. For the price acceptable. The first one is obviously defective but the seller (1ON1) never contacted me after my initial complaint (several days ago).

UPDATE 2 Had a chance to use them for my morning workout not a great experience. First, the headset will not stay put during exercises which involve head movement (Toe touches, sit-ups); second I only do an hour walk on the treadmill at a moderate pace (3 miles/hour) but this does cause moderate sweating the phones get very wet. I can only imagine what would happen if I really worked up a sweat. So, they are terrific for around the office or house or out-and-about but I would not recommend using them for any work-outs.

Wireless headphones are great! Sleek product. Great for at the gym, or running in the park. I'd recommend to anyone looking for a similar device.

After using my headphones over a period of time, I have to say these are DEFINITELY a good price for the quality of the product! Sound is exceptional when talking on the phone and listening to music. Headphones fit VERY SNUG and don't fall off when moving around (i.e. running, exercising, etc.). Extremely great for use with apple products. Sound and bass is wonderful. I use it with my iphone and there is a small icon between the bluetooth icon and battery level icon that indicates how much power the headphones have remaining.

I am completely satisfied! I'd give it 10 stars if I could!

Overall, these headphones are great for the price you pay.

Ease of Use-

Setup with these headphones was a breeze. I was able to pair them to my laptop and my cellphone without the directions. The included directions are very helpful if you are new to bluetooth devices and are unsure how to pair components. I read through all of the directions and they are definitely clear and concise about all the features and do a good job explaining the operation of them.

Feel-

The feel of these is the biggest drawback. I do not find these to be that comfortable. They don't seem to squeeze my head real tight, which is good unless I am exercising or just moving my head. I had to extend the headphones to get them to fit properly, on each side you can pull the ear part to make it slide out further. What these need is a way for the ear pieces to swivel or pivot to ensure a tighter fit on the head. Several times when I would lean forward (so that my face was parallel to the ground) the headphones would slip off or slide around out of position. It should be noted that I have an average sized head. I can wear these for about an hour and a half before they get uncomfortable and I must remove them to give my head a break.

Audio-

The audio coming from the speakers sounds good to me. I am not an audiophile, but I can still tell when things just don't sound good. These aren't the greatest audio quality, but they definitely sound good for the $25. I had great reception on these headphones even through multiple walls and more than thirty feet away, no static at all. They are plenty loud enough for me, and they don't have a whole lot of noise pollution. The mic quality is average. I don't think that most people buy these to make phone calls and I certainly don't plan to ever talk on the phone with them.

Battery-

I don't know the exact battery life, but I have gotten several hours from them without charging. My experience is that charging takes around two hours. The headphones arrived with a slight charge and after about an hour they were fully charged.

Quality-

When wearing these headphones, I can hear everything that is said around me. I realize that these are not noise cancelling, but they don't block out any sound at all. There are buttons on the side for adjusting things like volume, all of my buttons feel good but one. The back button, just doesn't feel right. It works just fine but it doesn't click like the other buttons making it hard to tell that it has been pressed. When I received mine, they were slightly dirty on the top.

If you are looking for a pair of inexpensive bluetooth headphones, then I would certainly recommend that you check these out.

This is my first Amazon review but when I saw the previous review I was compelled to add my thoughts. I can't speak to the problems the other person had but I love these. Previously I only used top of the line Sennheiser headphones but I wanted an earbud type for the gym. I read many reviews and although people seem to really like the sound quality of the Shure models, the IE-20 XB had two more things that were important to me besides excellent audio quality. One was comfort I was very concerned that earbuds would not be comfortable in my ears. But these really are! I have used them for long plane rides and they fit great. Secondly, the bass response is amazing. I can hear every detail of my music (and I listen to many different types of music).

These were my first experience with M-Audio products and I am buying another pair today for my wife.

So, depending on your budget, get these if you want excellent audio quality, great comfort, and serious bass response in your music.

Buy M-Audio IE-20 Professional Reference In-Ear Monitors with Extended Bass Now

I am a DJ and I needed something that would go in my ear for events where using regular DJ headphones were cumbersome. Once you get the IE-20 positioned into your ear canal right, the sounds quality is stellar and works great for cueing in a DJ situation.

One caveat though, is these earphones don't have a long slinky cord like you'd find on a pair of professional grade headphones. The IE-20 cable isn't very long, it is kinky, and gets tangled easily. If you step slightly away from the decks, you can bet on yanking at least one of the IE-20s out of your ear.

The IE-20s come with a carry case which is cool, but is almost too small to pack them in. They also come with several size ear buds, to allow you to make the perfect fit.

The sound quality is definetly suitable for even a professional environment.

Comfortable, light-weight, great sound, great with drums. The isolation level is great as well so you can hear just enough acoustic background noise when you're playing.

Want M-Audio IE-20 Professional Reference In-Ear Monitors with Extended Bass Discount?

This pair seems to have all the known advantages of in ears and almost all disadvantages, except the bass. The fit is pretty comfortable. I find the "detachable cables"(and of course replaceable) a very good feature. Half the headphones that I've stopped using is due to damaged cables.

The foam tips that came with the set did not feel very comfortable. I used them for a while then tried takin em off, but they would not slip off easily, had to tear em apart :(. But well, m happy with the silicone tips.

16dB of isolation is quite a bit, make sure you don't wear it in an environment where that could turn out to be a disadvantage. M guessing -16dB would mean almost 3 (2.67 to be precise?) times softer. With music playing, it drowns out most of the ambient noise, when m waiting for the bus, I can't hear a single vehicle drive by, apart from "feeling" the occasional roar of a truck.

The frequency response of this pair is a little bass heavy, a lil too heavy for the music I listen to (not complaining, the product's doing what it was designed to do. Weird note on in ear headphones that they have too much bass :-p). Just wondering if I shdv spent a "lil" more to buy the IE30s which m told are slightly less bass heavy.

These in ear buds sound pretty decent but I only owned these for 9 months and under normal use (I'm a drummer and used these as my in ear monitor) the cords shorted out. All the documentation claims that the cords are detachable and replaceable but good luck finding them, they aren't made available. Same thing happened to our guitarists pair as well, his didn't even last as long as mine. $100 ear buds should probably last longer than 8 9 months.

Purchased this because my teammates work in various countries and we communicate in small conference rooms using Cisco VOIP speaker phones. Anyone remote would often complain the mic on the speaker phone was not loud enough and they couldn't hear everything being said, especially with low-talkers and people that like to sit away from the table.

Now we conference call using Google Talk or Skype...I toss the mic on the conference room table and everyone can hear extremely well. The Mic also has a speaker port so when you plugin into the USB port, the pc will see both a new MIC and a new Speaker....

Planning on ordering another mic to keep at home for conference calls with friends and family.

I use this mic to capture the voices from meetings in a conference room. I run Camtasia to capture the video portion of a slide or other computer/projected presentation and the audio portion from the mic and then encode it and store the movie on our corporate file server for future viewing. The conference table is 30' long. Since the mic has 180 degree coverage, I place the mic close to one end of the table pointing towards the other end. It is very sensitive and has good frequency response. I adjust the record level using the computer audio mixer controls or the audio level control in Camtasia. Due to the wide frequency response range of this mic, it will also pick up AC noise, but I use the filters build into Camtasia to get rid of that frequency range. You could also use any other goood audio editing program such as Audacity (no cost)to do this. Highly recommended.

I bought this for my office in order to conduct video-conferencing using skype between our two offices. However, we have a 20 foot conference table with a credenza at one end where the computer and TV are located. Being that this is a USB powered device, we had to use a USB hub in order to keep it powered over the length we needed to run it. YOU CAN NOT USE THIS MIC WITH A USB HUB! It does mention it in the user's manual, but it would be nice to know prior to purchasing.

I'm a court reporter and use this mic to record every job I take down. Although I have had pretty good success with previous mics, none of them could pick up the guy at the end of the conference table nearly as well. I have not issues with it recording random noises in the room either. Be warned, it's quite a big bigger than it looks.

So far I've been very happy with this mic. It's been difficult to find a PC microphone that is somewhere between dirt cheap and way too expensive, but this unit is reasonably priced considering it's performance.

My previous mic was a $9 desktop model that had very poor performance. I had to over amp the volume so much, it could not have sounded good on the other end of ventrilo. I considered a logitech product, but after reading reviews I decided it was probably just a more expensive version of the $9 mic I already had. Unfortunately most PC mics seemed to range from $2 to $20 and the quality is as low as the price.

This mic has a wider frequency range than all of the cheap PC mics, comparable to the range of a $300+ mic, but without the expense.

Pros:

This mic is weighted well, it won't slide around under the weight of the cable.

Looks nice, metal black mesh with a red led light hidden inside to let you know its on (doesn't indicate status at all)

Picks up sound easily, my recording level is at 20% and people have no trouble hearing me or the fish tank 6 feet behind me.

Includes a cleaning cloth and leather-style carrying case, although somewhat unnecessary it's nice to be offered some extras when you buy something.

Wide frequency range comparable to $300+ mics.

Plug and play, no software included or required.

Powered via the USB port, no external power source required.

Other Comments:

Specs state, "Outstanding sound quality even in noisy environments", and this is true, however this does not mean that this will cancel out background noise. Whatever is happening in the room is going to be picked up by the mic. I have a PC full of fans, a fish tank, a table fan, and PC speakers, all of which are broadcast to people when I'm talking. This isn't what I would consider a con though, as I have yet to see a mic capable of picking up voice well while eliminating background sounds without it being right up in your face.

No where on the internet does there exist a picture of this mic with the red light illuminated. It's under the wire mesh and foam, roughly in the middle, though it is slightly to the right of center. If it's there for aesthetics, it's flawed in that it's not horizontally centered. It's not there to indicate that you're broadcasting or recording. All it really does is let you know that the mic has power via the USB cable. If you're into black hardware with red lights, then you'll be happy.

This is a good cable for the price, and will suffice for almost any application. I got the 12 ft. one, and checked the cable for resistance(you want the lowest resistance possible, for a clean signal), it was very low ;). the plugs are quite small for an rca cable, but are sturdy( another plus) The cable diameter is smaller than average, but the wire is good quality, or it would not have low resistance. The cable is also very flexible, making it easy to route, and to hide. I would buy it again. If you're a high end audiophile you probably aren't using a 3.5mm. to dual rca cable anywhere anyway, they aren't the very best way to run a signal, but if this is the setup you need, this cable will work well for you.

These cables feels like high quality cable, not the best but not bad. But the RED/WHITE label are reversed. Red connector must connected to white output and white connector must connect to red output to correct reversed L/R channels. These are not the first RCA to 3.5mm cable I have, and my previous cables have correct color labeling. These, however, are reversed. Not a big problem as long as they works.

This cable works great, the price was amazing, the sound is fine, and looks sharp. However, I took off one star because whoever assembled it mixed up the sleeve colors. On my cable, the red sleeve is left and white is right. It is a non-issue as long as I remember this when hooking things up. I think whoever assembled this got mixed up with how wires inside a stereo plug or jack are soldered where there is the rule, "white is right."

If you are new to the digital DJ scene or if you are an experienced DJ that needs a quick fix controller, the Numark DJ2GO MIDI controller is one excellent solution! For the price, it doesn't get any better than this!

PROS:

1) New Digital DJ:

Do you want to try digital DJ'ing out but don't want to invest in a big ticket controller? The Numark DJ2GO is just the perfect controller! It comes with an LE version of Virtual DJ, one of the most downloaded music programs out there! This version perfectly matches the DJ2GO controller in layout and functionality, while still giving you enough flexibility to learn the ropes. It allows you to go beyond the mouse n' click method and helps develop the true fashion of mixing on the 1's & 2's. The built in fader, jog wheels and pitch & pitch bends allow any budding DJ to learn the basics of beat matching, mixing and allows you to get the feel of fading between songs. The DJ2GO allows for a cue point, which is enough for the basics. The pitch controls are great and allow any DJ to learn the proper way to match beats. There are even built in sync buttons, which today is great (even though the hardcore may call this cheating!). But in the digital age, it helps and there are all kinds of new methods to develop (mash-ups, quick mix, double beats, etc.). The DJ2Go gives you that touch/feel interface that helps develop your skills to become better DJ!

2) Experienced DJ:

Hey, even the experienced DJ will appreciate having the DJ2GO in their arsenal. I have a Numark NS7FX, which is considered by many to be one of the top controllers available. However, there are times that I want to listen and mix new songs without hooking up. That's where the DJ2GO steps in. It has enough controlability to allow you to experiment and mix songs, testing proper cue points, listening for beats and vocal breaks all this while sitting outside on the patio enjoying the sun or anywhere you'd like! Since the DJ2GO is USB powered, you can plug it into your laptop and just mix away! Don't get me wrong I LOVE my NS7FX but if you own one you know full well it's "portability" is outweighed by its 75 lb. girth (Deck & Flight Case combined, also available at Amazon!)!!!! The DJ2GO is lightweight and tough enough to do any mini-gig, house party, or backyard bash you happen to do and with ease!

Being a full MIDI controller, the DJ2GO can be used with almost any program! As long as you can map it, it will work (I only use it with the supplied Virtual DJ, but I've read forums where people use it with Virtual DJ Pro, Traktor, and other DJ programs. I'll update you when I try it with ITCH). The DJ2GO will help you with your music arsenal, giving you a great tool for listening and learning your music library! Again, it beats the old mouse n' click approach any day!

Other Pros: super portable, compact, great build quality (it's soooo deceiving when it's in the packaging), solid controls, RUBBERIZED BUTTONS (feels like my NS7FX), headphone cue-ability (read on), master and individual track volume controls, +/pitch bends (though you can use the platters as well), scratch-ability (basic with the platters), and most important an affordable PRICE!!!

CONS:

1) No built in sound card: this means you'll need a USB compatible headphone (or adapter, many available here on Amazon) to properly CUE your songs while using headphones. This is important for budding DJ's to develop that skill, but for more experienced DJ's it's a minor point (I find that most experienced DJ's don't even use headphones they KNOW their music and KNOW all the cue points). You can also use a better built plug in sound card if you have one.

2) Only one CUE button: your standard CUE button is there, but if you are like me, those 5 CUEs on the NS7FX really spoil you!

3) No bells or whistles: okay, no loop features, no FX controls, but hey, if you are looking for those features, then the DJ2GO isn't really for you (note: if you use Virtual DJ Pro, those are all available to you with a simple click of your mouse, so all is not lost).

Overall, the Numark DJ2GO is an excellent controller for any new or experienced DJ. Giving you hands-on control, the DJ2GO will provide you with the power to get the party started! I recommend this controller to everyone!

UPDATE (07/20/2011): just tried it with Serato ITCH the program does not recognize the DJ2GO. That's probably because ITCH is propriatory to the controllers it is sold with (my Numark NS7FX for example). Well, I tried... would have been nice though...

Who am II'm a pro, I made a living off of making people dance for several years before moving on to other things (that don't involve divorce and poverty). My old rig was a pair of Stanton STR8-150's, a crap Behringer 7-channel that wouldn't die, and final scratch. I know my ish. I sold all my gear after a divorce and major career/life/everything change, and I've been dying to get back into some tables to blow off stress for really, really cheap. So I spent many hours researching this little guy, and all of the other USB MIDI controllers in the neighborhood of $0-$100, and wound up with this one.

Ok. The good: It's a sturdy device with rubber feet that fits the width of my laptop perfectly (though I'm currently running it on a desktop in my evil man cave lair). Install was cake. I'm running XP Pro on a Pentium 4 (x86) 3GHz, with 2Gb RAM. I strongly recommend getting a stronger sound card than what comes stock in your machine for thisit will really tax your processor. Loading songs, and scanning them for BPM, etc. puts my proc at 100% for 10+ seconds. But, even only with the stock sound card (my Asus Xonar DG is still in the mail, I'll make an update when it arrives....) it doesn't lag, pop or glitch when the proc is running at full blast/overrunning, which is awesome. The screen directly mirrors the controller, so you'll be very hard pressed to mess it up. I think the install took 3 minutes, and I was into my second bass drop in under 5.

Another feature not seen in this price range generally is that you don't need to use the keyboard on your computer at all. There's a rotary switch top center of the controller, and back/enter buttons that take you one level into or out of a folder. It's very quick, and behaves appropriately. You will probably need the mouse though, for fun things like jumping quickly to the drop of a song, for instance. Because bass drops are proof that God loves us.

The pitch bendwhen you click on it, it goes from 6%-8%-10%-12%-20%-25%-33%-50%-100%, which means you can do limited vinyl emulation like motor on/off, etc., by setting it to 100% and sliding it from the middle to the end of the fader/potentiometer. When you change the pitch bend factor on either deck, it changes for both decks, so you can't have 100% on A and 6% on B. The jog wheels also pitch up/down per this setting. So. Here's what you CAN do. You can set your 12% BPM on A, adjust it, get it playing, and then adjust your pitch bend factor to 100%, get B in sync, and so long as you don't cross from to + on A, it will hold the original value of 12%, fully adjustable within 12%, again, so long as you don't cross the threshold from slow to fast. At 0% it adopts the current setting. It doesn't jump to 100% like what you're running on side B.

The settings for outputs are a little wonky, but you'll figure them out quick. You can either select everything to go out a stereo headphone jack (for instance, though any output on your selected sound card) and have the left be headphone and right be mains, but then of course you lose stereo. You can also select multiple sound cards (I strongly recommend) and pick sound card 1 from the drop down, and then pick headphones from the next drop down, and repeat for the mains with sound card 2. Just get one (or several, safety first!!) of the cheap USB sound cards and you're set.

There are no inputs or outputs on this device, just a USB cable in, just like a camera (USB-Mini USB???). It's just a controller. It doesn't have ANYTHING else. Numark also makes a pair of USB headphones with an internal soundcard, for something like $50. You could go that route too. Keep in mind that for the price of this thing, and still how indestructible it feels, you're not going to get a software-rich controller that you're going to take to your next club gig. Although you probably could....

If you're a sync-dj, the sync buttons work great to get you very close, but you'll still have to massage it just a bit to get it right. As you should.

The jog wheels on mine spin freely (there were other complaints of them sticking in some of the other posts), and the buttons are standard issue Numark rubber. And the rubber lights up, which I wasn't necessarily expecting for this price. The jog wheels are light, but solid, and very responsive. They don't wobble free or self-adjust forward/backward if you go for a scratch and go back and forth really fast. They do stay true, although without touch sensitivity, in scratch mode the wheels grab whenever they sense movement, and release when the wheel stops moving. So if you're going to scratch, pause the music, do your scratching, hit play>cue really quick to catch your groove wherever you want. Slightly clunky, but I had it running seamlessly after just a few tries.

Now the bad:

I almost subtracted a star for two reasons-

1: There are no instructions that come with this unit, and there are shortcuts like, "push and hold the load track button to toggle scratching/jogging on the wheel" that aren't documented anywhere. And that's pretty effing important. Also, the left and right mouse buttons do not behave the same, or as expected across the interface. The version that ships with the controller is a one-off version of VDJ, and no amount of searching the intarwebs rendered any help with the scratch/jog issue. I spent an hour trying to figure out if my unit had gone TU when it randomly started scratching in the middle of my first set. It turns out I'd just pressed the load button too long, but it wasn't anywhere in the docs. The supplied instructions are generic instructions for the Pro version of VDJ, not this _very_ customized version.

2: You cannot remap the buttons in the version that comes with the hardware, nor can you reskin it. To me those are cosmetic things, but still, it isn't mentioned much of anywhere. I did find an XML file that appears to have the color layouts, and if I get cocky I might tweak it a little and see what happens (and if I succeed, I'll post it here). I'm about to map this controller in Fruity Loops 9, however, and when I do, I'll supply my commentary on that. I'm pretty excited about having a device I can DJ off of, and use for tactile feedback on my knob tweaks. More to follow.....

Also the provided layout is a bit buggy, but it's all in the minutia, not the bones. For instance, when you mouse-over the controls, there's the actual name of the XML control tag along with the text that was supposed to show. Not sure if that was intentional, but geeks will find it sloppy. Though I certainly can't take a star for that.

But yeah. I left it at 5-stars because this is the most rock-solid device you can buy, IMHO. Bang-for-buck wise, this thing is absolutely the best. Get one, if you hate itthrow it out, or donate it to a lonely, starving child in Africa or something. But it's cheap enough that you can use it as a vehicle chock, or watch it get thrown from a jet and not cry. I sure hope this helps you guys.

This midi controller is really a great piece of equip for the price. While its not loaded with features and the jog wheels are a lil too touchy for my liking, what it does it does very well. I actually just dj'd a wedding with this lil bad boy and it went off with out a hitch. its nice because you can throw it in your bag with a laptop, headphones and the numark dj i/o (which is basically a must if you want to actually listen to the music you're queuing up) and as long as you have an amp and some speakers to tap into you're a fully functioning dj.

Comes with "Virtual dj lite" which works perfectly with the controller. I would also suggest anybody new to dj'ing grab this set up which is just over $100 (again with the DJ I/O) before you go nuts and dump a ton of cash into tt's and a mixer, to make sure this is something you want to keep doing and not just a brief fling.

This controller is fantastic for starters.

Within 2 days I was spinning and getting creative with these decks. I'll share with you some of the features that make this thing so great:

1. The pitch bend buttons and switch always baffled me but after trial-and-error I learned that the bend buttons are used to minutely speed or slow the track down. I mix EDM and you can hear it clearly when the kicks are off time.

2. The slider is very smooth and sensitive but will only move when you will it to. You've got to learn to keep your hands above these decks and not level like you would a laptop.

3. The "cue" button is used to set a cue point for songs that VirtualDJ SAVES so you have it later! You have to get to know each of your tracks.

4. "Sync" button is a no-brainer, but when pressed with the play button simultaneously, syncs the tracks on beat if you mess it up.

Only downsides:

1. There is no headphone jack, the only wire in this thing is the USB.

2. Load buttons need to be pressed twice, or once unnaturally firmly.

3. The tiny "plates" are inaccurate but good for quick spinning forward or back if you really boned up the last change

Basically,

5/5

the Good :

it's very portable, easy to use, plug-n-play and perfect for a beginner or experienced DJ wanting to do basic blends.

the Bad:

So small that sometimes my finger would accidentally hit the jog wheel causing my beat to throw off. The biggest downside was the software. VirtualDj LE lite is about as basic as you can get. There are more features on the free Home version, so this was about the only real dissapointment. Since I only paid $35 for it, I would still say it's worth the money and I'm having fun with it.
