I like this product a lot. I have a hard time getting a hold of the tech side of music but this product isn't too hard to work with. Lots of presets which sound great. Comes with Ableton lite which is nice for recording all your little ditties. Comes with some drum software too but I'm too numb to "get" it.I bought this for the purpose of sending my ideas across the country, which it works great for. My only problem is that the e-drums are tough for me to grasp (programming beats for my tunes), but that's my problem not the product.

So... I purchased this unit about 2 moths ago for a location recording session and it came through like a champ! The location and circumstances did not permit me to bring along a bunch of out-board gear so I had to depend on the on-board pres and they worked great. Nice and quiet w/ lots of headroom. I was using a ribbon for my M/S and was a little worried that I wouldn't get enough gain but was surprised to find that the 2626 gave more than enough. As far as DAW integration... Flawless! I use Logic on my Macbook Pro and had no issues. Drivers were solid as well. Mac's coreMIDI is a bit of a bugger but once it was on, it was on.I used the 2626 to run 16 inputs to Logic as well as run a house mix and headphone mix and no probs. There are better interfaces out there but for the money you really can't go wrong. I also realize that some people have had issues with the drivers and such but most have been addressed by now and like anything that you get that is a tech toy you will have integration issues from time to time. You can check any manufacturer forums and you will likely see a host of complaints about usability and integration. What made the decision for me was the price to features ratio. The 2626 is a great interface at a great price.
and yes, you can record 26 channels. you just can't use the dsp mixer. you need to use the mixer in your DAW if you want to go higher than 16+2SPDF. Not really an issue if you're running PT LE or MP since you're limited to 16 tracks anyway. For Logic or DP or Reaper you just have to use your in-DAW mixer. The DSP mixer is more for monitoring anyway and if you've got your channels mapped out right also a non issue.
In my opinion this is a quality budget interface from a quality manufacturer. If you're looking for Jack Joseph Puig or Bruce Swedien sound Your gonna need a boat load more cash but if your looking for a versatile interface for quick location, live and the occasional studio use...This may only be helpful for a few of you:
I can't comment too much on how the Profire2626 performs as an interface, other than the fact that I noticed no problems the handful of times I have used it to open Pro Tools sessions. What I CAN say is that it is rock-solid when used as a standalone audio routing unit.
When used in standalone mode, connected to my main interface with 2 optical cables, my Profire 2626 offers:
-Eight microphone preamps that sound great for the money
-Two instrument DI inputs
-Eight channel AD/DA converter (TRS, ADAT)
-Two headphone amps, each outputting their own separate "mix" from the digital input
-S/PDIF converter (optical to coax, coax to optical)
I use it for the extra analog outputs and headphone amps, which I use to give each studio musician their own headphone mix. I also use it when my eight go-to microphone preamps aren't enough for the session and I need a few extra. Compared to other similar standalone preamp/AD/DA units (Digimax FS, OctoPre Dynamic, etc.), this one packs a few more features for the money, though I have not directly compared these preamps to those on the other units mentioned. Also, commenting on other reviews, I wouldn't write M-Audio off all together. While I can't comment in depth on their audio drivers, I own and regularly use their microphones and preamps, all of which have given me "bang for the buck," as they say :)
While the preamps and converters may not be quite as audiophile-approved as other preamps and converters I own, It's great for what it does and I have no complaints. Again, I am not using this unit as an audio interface, but in standalone mode. This "swiss army" box has filled in the gaps in my gear nicely when I need a few extra channels of I/O or need to convert a S/PDIF signal.This interface is a great deal when on sale and still a great investment when it's not. The interface allows for 8 tracks simultaneously (up to 16 if you piggy back with another unit), which is great for capturing live performances. Additionally, the unit supplies phantom power which is a huge plus if you've ever been up a creek without the right power source for your mics. The software is easy to use, and compatible with popular UI's, e.g. GarageBand, Pro Logic, etc.Like the title say, it's great. Feels solid. Lots of preamp gain (I'm using separate pres though). This is a big upgrade from my M-audio Fast Track Ultra. If you don't have a TI firewire card, I suggest you purchase one because the integrated firewire ports won't work as effectively. Mine popped and clicked and the output cut out after a while. Once i got a SIGG firewire PCIe card, it worked perfectly.
Combination with ADAT preamps, M-Powerd 8 and dual 2 GHz, XP, notebook PC works fine. 3 star rating instead of higher rating is due to confusing naming and obscured descriptions in their site.

The DR-40 has a lot of new features, phantom power, four track capability, XLR mike jacks for professional mics and great performance. I am a podcast producer and sing in a barbershop quartet. This unit is great for practice recordings at rehearsals and for producing my podcast episodes.The package arrived on time and included all the pieces that were supposed to be in the packge. My only disappointment was the portable tripod that was included. This was a piece of junk and literally broke into pieces the first time I tried to use it. The supplier of the package called and did a satisfaction check on the phone and I explained to them my displeasure. The caller indicated he had heard similar complaints from several other customers who purchased the package deal. Same problem tripod junk. I guess I was disappointed that the audio supplier didn't at least make an attempt to resolve the problem. You can however buy a halfway decent mini tripod at your neighborhood Wal Mart..

I would recommend the Tascam DR-40 to anyone that wants to get into recording on a budget. This product has a lot of features (and more) than some of the more expensive ones. This is very comparable to the Zoom H4n, but it comes with a great price. I wanted a recorder that accepted the XLR microphone connection for my productions. Works great and Very Pleased.The Tascam DR 40 was the product I researched and it is working well for me so far. The bag and cables turned out to be a nice bonus.I've really only used this for one event so I have limited experience with it. I am a wedding videographer and I mainly bought this for the reception, to connect to the DJ's equipment. I must say it worked amazingly well! I was connected with an xlr, and dual recorded with different levels. I love the dual record feature because the audio levels fluctuated throughout the reception and there were times that I used the one with more gain and times I used the one with less gain.It's made out of plastic and should be treated with care. It's a bit difficult to open the bay for the SD card, but it's not a deal breaker. There are a lot of settings and I would recommend reading the directions (I know, I didn't enjoy it either) but there are a lot of good tips in there that would be difficult to figure out without reading it.
This specific listing does in fact come with an 8gb card AND a 2gb card(the 2gb comes in the tascam box and doesn't specify a class). The 8gb is a class 10 (at least the one I recieved) from transcend. I am using this in my DSLR because I don't need all that space in Tascam. I think the 2gb card that comes with it is sufficient for most people, yet if you want to record WAV files, go for the 8gb. The internal mics work nicely and at times I had this mounted to the top of my DSLR which worked out great during video. There is a bit more time that you need to put into post production but the quality is much better than that of the camera.

First, let me state that I am not a piano tuner. I'm a pianist, and I'm very fussy about the piano that I play being in tune. I have a tuning hammer and some mutes and know enough to get myself in trouble. Prior to using the auto-strobe, I could never have successfully tuned a piano on my own.Now the review: I was first introduced to the Autostrobe tuner by the owner of a local piano store. He used one of these tuners to tune the pianos he delivered. As soon as I watched him fly through a piano with his tuner (faster than I had ever seen anyone tune a piano before) I knew that I had to have one for myself. I knew enough about tuning pianos to touch up unison notes and replace the occasional broken string, but I don't have the experience or know-how to get a temperament right or tune a whole piano. With the autostrobe tuner, I can now tune a whole piano with minimal frustration. It may not be a perfect job, but that's not the fault of the machine it's me that's the problem. This little machine will help you get every single string exactly where it belongs. I can't imagine another tuner that would work better. It's been a tremendous help to me.
I still have a professional tuner come by every few months. I'm admittedly an amateur, and I feel better still having them go through the piano from time to time. But now that I have the autostrobe tuner, I'm more than capable of touching up the occasional note that goes sour, or even running through the whole top end to make it clean and bright again. I do think that with more experience, I'll do an even better job of tuning on my own, but for now I'm happy to just fill in the gaps between tunings.
I should also mention that if you ever tune your guitar with one of these tuners, you're never going to want to tune with anything else. Of course, it's really overkill for a guitar, but even if you're used to a well-tuned guitar, the absolutely perfect tuning that you get with this machine will blow you away.
So, in conclusion, if you're a pianist who is fussy about tuning but can't pay a tuner to come by every two weeks, this little machine would be a big help to you. I don't think it's a replacement for having your piano tuned by a professional, but I could see even professional tuners finding good use for a machine like this.

Excellent sound and quality. Easy to set up and best yet, no wires to get tangled. I would highly recommend it to anybody.Love the headset I use them when I go to the gym or just around the house. The sound quality is really good granit it's not like your in room with 7.1 surround but it's simular to 5.1 surround just mnus the big thumping bass. It's Noise canceling as well and For $38.00 it's a really good deal. I'll keep it simple with a pro's/con's list.Pros:
1. Cheap.
2. They work. Audio quality is acceptable for the price range.
3. Battery life is good, but...(see Con 2)
4. Decent range, well within the bluetooth standard.
Cons:
1. They are not size adjustable. If your head isn't small like a child's or tiny person they barely reach from the back of your head to cover your ears and pinch so hard it's almost uncomfortable. I feel they had to compromise here and either make them big enough for us large 'mericans and disappoint the pinheads, or make them small and disappoint us big noggin folks. Its obvious they were marketed towards the small stature people of Asia(their place of origin naturally) so us hormone-laden food eaters need not apply.
2. Uses proprietary small barrel charger. No micro or mini usb here. Because that would be too easy with practically every non-iTard rechargeable device out there uses micro usb. Disappointing extra charger to carry around/keep track of.
3. The boop-boop-boop notification sound when you power on the device, power it off, and get low battery notification is so loud it practically blows your eardrums out. I've turned the headset all the way down with the volume controls and it has no effect on the level of these notification sounds. I've never been to a live concert and don't listen to music(I'm using these to listen to news podcasts) so I'm sorry if my hearing is undamaged. The notifications are too damn loud! I have to turn the headset on and off while not on my head.
In summary, I could forgive any one of the above cons, but the combination of all three make this headset a total fail. I wont give them a 1-star review because they at least function electronically speaking.

I have been recording for 12 + years and have bought most of the interfaces in this price range....Digi 002, Mbox, Emu 0404, Centrance Mic Port Pro, Presonus Firebox....and out of all of the above the only one that played nice with Windows was the Centrance but it's only one mic channel for $150. The others had high latency, pops and clicks, crashes the Digi products being the absolute worst.I'm a songwriter and wanted to focus more on creativity than tech support and troubleshooting and with this product, I have finally found the solution. I don't write reviews but was compelled to let people know how amazing this product is.
I'm using it with Reaper ($40) and the two combined cost $250 and it's the most rock solid setup I have used yet. Literally installed the drivers, loaded up a 24 track session with plugins, and pulled the buffer slider all the way to the left...with other products that's guaranteed to stutter, drop out, pop and click, etc
And it worked....not a hitch. I couldn't believe it. It ran 24 tracks of audio with three plugins on each track for 3 1/2 minutes flawlessly.
So I plugged in a guitar and tried the same thing no pops or clicks. I recorded it against a click and played on the 2 and 4 to see if it was synching up. Perfect synch.
I also ran the Centrance latency utility on it (Google the name, it's a free download) and it reported a latency of 3.48 ms with 167 samples. In Reaper, I manually adjusted for that offset in Preferences > Audio > Recording (even though it wasn't needed no noticeable latency) and now I'm recording and monitoring in 100% real time. It's unreal.
Not to mention this also comes with the Focusrite plugin suite not your average crappy freebie throw in, they are excellent sounding quality plugins that can be used in professional productions. And a full VSTi of the Novation Bass Station.
If you want a rock solid recording setup for PC they're practically giving this interface away. Midi hookup, two amazing mic preamps, versatile monitoring options, and it runs off of USB bus power...no wall wart!
You could have an amazing setup for $250 if you combine this with Reaper. I can't recommend this highly enough. Best audio quality I've had yet and unbelievable stability. My PC is an Acer laptop running Vista bought used for $400 no megacomputer here.
Buy Focusrite Saffire 6 USB Audio Interface Now
I used to use a PreSonus FIREBOX (4-in/10-out firewire interface) with my PowerBook G4; I lost the power supply and firewire bus power doesn't work with the newer laptops, so I was planning to buy the AudioBox by the same company. Instead I decided to try this one out. I haven't done a thorough comparison of the preamps, but already I like it a lot more:* The knobs have a much more sensible layout, and unlike the knobs on the PreSonus they turn freely instead of in increments. This is a big deal for the headphone output; my earbuds get very loud so I'm usually making fine adjustments. With the FIREBOX I basically had "a little too loud" and "almost too quiet" because of the way the increments were chosen.
* Everything feels durable. It's a little bigger than the FIREBOX, but not much heavier.
* There's a simple knob on the front to mix direct input with output from the computer; with the FIREBOX you have to use their mixer software to get this functionality.
* There are LEDs next to each input that show the input level; the FIREBOX has an LED that shows when it's clipping, but that's not nearly as useful by itself.
* The bus power is very convenient, there's no extra power supply to lose or break
* My setup is far from ideal, but from what I can tell the sound quality is flawless.
There's only one thing that bugs me: I have the outputs going directly to my speakers, and every time I plug the Saffire unit into the computer it makes a popping noise. When I unplug it it makes an even louder noise. I don't remember the FIREBOX ever doing that.

First, let me say that before purchasing this box I looked at and considered MANY other brands and models. M-Audio, Lexicon, Presonus, Tascam, E-Mu, DigiDesign, etc. My main criteria was that I wanted a box that was dependable, easy to setup and use, has two XLR / instrument inputs as well as a midi in and out jack. It's amazing how many of these boxes have no midi inputs but we all have different needs.The professional studio, of which I'm a partner in, owns several pieces of Focusrite RED equipment. The RED line is fairly expensive, completely hand-built and kicks serious butt. So when I saw the Focusrite name it brought my immediate interest. No, it's not hand built but it's also not expensive. A respected brand earns that reputation and seeks to maintain or excel in their market position.
Before attempting to load the software from the enclosed disc, visit the Focusrite site and download their newest Saffire 6 USB software. In fact I wouldn't bother opening the software disc that comes in the box. The first time I installed it was on an older Mac G5Power PC running Leopard 10.5.8. When I turned it on everything was momentarily fine. Then, everything that was plugged into the box came out distorted and down about 3 semitones. I then tried installing it in a newer Intel iMac, again with 10.5.8. The results were crystal clear sound. I then tried installing it on a third iMac very similar to the 2nd one I mentioned. Again beautiful, quiet, clear sound burst forth. I'm still trying to find out what happened with the first install but at this time I choose to view the problem as an older computer, not the Saffire box.
I'll update my post as I attempt to suss out the problem with the older Mac.
UPDATE I believe the older Mac / software was the issue. This box has been running fine on my newer iMac's. Terrific piece of equipment.
Want Focusrite Saffire 6 USB Audio Interface Discount?
Let me preface this review by saying that in the last month and a half I've had to return an Alesis MultiMix8 USB and a Mackie PROFx8 due to electronics defects.I swore by those brands, but after these recent fiascoes I no longer see them as trustworthy PRO gear -at least not for the entry level product lines. Focusrites weren't even on my top-5 list.Now, as for this product, I am literally flabbergasted. Amazing, noise-less, clean, smooth mic inputs. My AT2020 condenser mic (phantom powered) comes through beautiful and wispy. Zero noise. I mean that: zero pre-amp noise (which was a HUGE problem with both the Alesis and the Mackie). Voices come pristine and fresh ready for mixing/mastering. Mic pad switch works wonders if you have someone with strong spikes or overall big voices.
Instrument Hi-Z input, again, amazing. Distortionless, noiseless and smooth. Tried both a keyboard and a guitar. Both went through superbly.
Headphones and monitor outputs work as promised. Nothing to complain about.
MIDI: I'm currently testing this function and will update this review once I finish testing.
A nice little feature is the fader to have input or playback to the monitors/headphones. Comes pretty handy if you are overdubbing.
Latency: now this is the heart of any self-respecting ADC/DAC interface. I personally found the latency to be, by all intents and purposes, damn close to zero. I was able to overdub about 8 concurrent tracks with no problems whatsoever.
I cannot comment on the software provided since I have only installed the driver to make it work under both Win7 32 and 64 bit since I already have Reaper, Cubase and Audacity install which is all I need for my recordings right now.
In short, Focusrite got this right -period. They "nailed it". If and when it's time to grow my studio you can be sure Focusrite will be the first brand I'm going to be looking at. If you are looking for a solid, inexpensive, pro-quality interface, honestly, don't waste your time looking for more features at this price range. This is one is unbeatable at this price.

Unless you only have USB 1.1 on your computer, I don't believe there's any reason to buy this legacy interface instead of their newer Scarlett series. The end.
Here's the long version: This Saffire 6 didn't work on my PC and didn't work on either of 2 brand-new laptops I purchased and then returned, believing it was the laptops' fault instead of the Saffire 6.
The problem: From what I've seen, most PCs/laptops don't have their USB devices connected directly to the USB root. Under device manager, they look like this:
USB Root / Generic Hub / USB Device
USB Root / UMBus Numerator / USB Device
...If your computer connects something like the above, you'll have driver problems with the Saffire 6, latency popping, etc. And even if your current computer doesn't have the above issue of not connecting directly to the USB root, what about your next computer? Just get the newer Scarlett and you won't have to worry about it. Get a Scarlett.

I actually got this pedal many years ago and thankfully it was still being made in Japan which probably explains why it still works a charm more than a decade later. I've since used it frequently while jamming and practicing either at home or in a band setup in a friend's place and I really liked the fact that there are 24 different combinations of effects that you can choose from although truth be told I've settled over the years to just a handful of these combinations whenever I play. Still, I like the way I don't have to connect various effects boxes together to get a nice sound and that I can also fine tune the settings if I like although I rarely if ever do this in practice. I also like the in-built tuner which comes in handy especially in a noisy setting.And now the not-so-good elements: I used this on-stage during a paying gig once and it just died on me midway through the set! Thankfully I had a spare battery in my pocket and a sympathetic audience as well as a professional enough band to cover for me while I spent the minute or so making the battery change. This baby consumes a lot of power and so if you decide to use this live in a performance, make sure that you put in a fresh alkaline battery. Alternatively, you can use the 9 volt adaptor that was included in my original purchase as part of the package in which case it works like a charm. Secondly, stepping on the pedal only allows you to change from setting to setting sequentially. What this means is that if you want to go from say A1 to C3 you can't do that with one step but you'd need to do a minimum of 4 steps by pressing a very small button on the right edge twice and then stepping on the right pedal twice. Try doing all this live if you need to make changes during a tune!
For these reasons, this is a good toy to play with at home or while jamming among friends but it has limited practical uses for the professional or performing musician. I know I may sound antiquated for saying this but I still like pedals and so if I'm ever asked to perform again, unless I can use the adaptor and I do not need to make setting changes during tunes on a set I'm going to the tried and tested individual pedals instead which for me would include an Ibanez Tubescreamer or Thrashmetal or Muff Overdrive with a DOD Compresser/Sustainer and an Arion Delay. Maybe someday I'll "upgrade" to more modern boxes out there for stagework but right now I'll leave nothing to chance.
Overall, I'm pleased with this purchase for what I use it for which is an easy way to get interesting sounds while practicing or jamming with friends and the fact that the one I purchased years ago is still working so well for me speaks volumes for the overall quality of this Zoom product.Ok so technically I used the 505II which is an upgraded version of this model. Seriously this is probably the worst sounding pedal I have ever heard. Lets start with the distortions. For the most part they are noisy. Very noisy, On every setting. So noisy that sound barely gets through. This thing has no bottom or top end sound. Midrange is mostly what comes trough. The distortions that are not too noisy are too fuzzy. It sounds like playing a guitar trough a staticy tv. The acoustic sim sounds very muteed like you have towels in your guitar.
Further more the effects on this thing have very limited tweakability. Just like 9 settings for each. Not much variation there. They all sound very thin aswell. This does have one thing going for it. A great swell sound and decent pitch shifting. Other than that though its crap.
Its also quite indurable. Mine lasted less than a year before it quit working. After i started using the plug the battery would no longer work. Plus whats the deal with the modulation effects? They are probably the most useless thign i have ever seen.
