I have worked with many DJ equipments since the past decade from Vinyl, CDJs, and now computer-operated MIDI controllers. I have to say that this little controller is one of my favorite straight-forward-no-frills MIDI controller, it is a clear winner on the $250 market. What competes with the Mixage? You got the Numark Mixtrack Pro which is fun to use, but has a built quality of a toy and looks like one too. You got the pricier Vestax Typhoon which offers very few features.

Well to be fair, Mixage also has few features, however, this are the essential tools in which you build your mix. Pair another Mixage, and you have a four-deck controller which works seamlessly with Traktor Pro 2; or you can pair it with a high-end mixer for professional effects.

Pros:

A little controller that looks very professional; get an additional pair and you have a 4 deck combo for your samplers.

The knobs, crossfader, line faders, and buttons feels high-grade.

Very easy to configure and customize with Traktor.

Want a controller for fun, quick-straight-mixing, then this is your stuff.

Cons:

No EQ kills

I would want a bigger jogwheels.

The jogwheels are too sensitive for scratching.

I would have wanted to see the jogwheels used for controlling the filter or FX than Vinyl emulation (EDM is the trend today, turntablism is a lost art).

More inputs and outputs

This controller might work on VIP sessions, lounges, small clubs and bars, bedroom DJs and those who wanted a taste of computer DJing. This controller may not be for those looking for total Traktor integration (get a Traktor Kontrol S2/S4 or a Reloop Digital Jockey 3 ME) or big gigs and mega clubs.

I was hesitant in moving to MIDI controllers, but later I found out there are so many possibilities and creative things you can do with them than even the mightiest CDJs aren't able to do. I might be born in the year of the Vinyls and CDJs, but you have to move-on and embrace technology or you'll be left out. Don't be scared to reinvent yourself :)

So I would definitely recommend this controller for those budding young DJs and those Pros as well who just want to make a quick mix in their pads.

What I like about this controller, is that it's designed for Traktor. Although the buttons need a better layout and concise labeling. It took me some time to find the "Sync" button because it wasn't labelled. It's quite sturdy and fairly light. Volume sliders are nice and solid. The cross fader is a bit flimsy and I had some trouble with finding firmware for the controller. The jog wheels are a bit too sensitive and were way smaller than I expected. The inputs and outputs are fine. Over all it's a good sturdy little digital mixer for people beginning to DJ. If you want something to get the job done for the price and specs given, this is the one to go for. Definitely one of the better lower end controllers out there.

Some Pros:

Sturdy knobs, easy to use, easy to learn. I recommend this for beginners, NOT for large audiences or events that require heavy output.

Some Cons:

Button lights stopped working before 1 year of use, must have exterior control for speakers (only RCA outlets on back...NOTHING else), loops become stuck and I have to restart software...

You get what you pay for. This thing is good for learning and small events like weddings, business parties etc... that's about it.

Everything is in the right place and works well with Traktor Pro. I've lugged the mixer around and used it for gigs and it's a sturdy piece. The build quality of this mixer is spot on.

Purchased as a gift for my son who wanted a full drum set. Great alternative if you don't have room for a full drum set or are uncertain if your "budding" musician will have a continued interest in playing the drums.

My husband bought this for me for Christmas as a surprise. He did a lot of research and certainly Yamaha digital pianos are very well made, and preferable as a rule. However he did see one comment that concerned him, but purchased it anyway. Turns out his concern was valid. The keyboard, while very good quality, is not the same bed as the upper end models (DGX 640) and when I played more classical pieces, the clicking noise of the keys was quite evident, and became annoying. This wouldn't be a concern to someone playing rock or jazz at a louder volume, or when listening thru headphones, or recording. But I play all kinds of music and it just wasn't acceptable. We went to a store and I played on various keyboards and this is when it became evident that the more expensive models, while still having a muted sound when depressed, was nowhere near as loud. I recommend that you try out the keyboard of any digital piano before buying online. It's a personal preference. We upgraded to the Yamaha DGX model (about $300.00) more and given the cost of these pianos, it's worth getting exactly what you want.

Nice keyboard, nice sound, feels like a real piano and it's got all the keys. I like that it includes a nice, stable music rest, keyboard stand, footswitch and power adaptor.

Lots of features too: fun sounds, (drum, maracas, bongos, etc. plus sound effects like phone, ufo, dog barking, etc)

It has a super metronome which you can adjust the tempo of, set the number of beats per measure, adjust volume, etc.

It records your performance which is nice, so my piano teacher can play something she wants me to learn, record it, then I can replay that when I'm practicing.

More features, too many to mention... If you'd like to start with something smaller or something less expensiv, I'd check out a Casio keyboard. Casio CTK4000 Premium Pack with Power Supply, Keyboard Stand and Professional Closed Cup Stereo Headphones, Casio LK100 Lighted Keyboard with Premium Accessories Package (this is the first one I got)

First, let me say that this is a solid product for a very good price. It's highly portable, even once you set it up. I'm not sure how much it weighs, but I'm a 5'3", 95lbs person, and I can lift and carry this piano with a medium amount of effort. It's got a full keyboard, and has hundreds of different sounds effects, as well as a pretty good volume range and a jack that you can plug your headphones into if you want a little bit of privacy (although, you have to buy an adapter for your headphone jack).

With that said, the main reason I didn't give this product a full 5 stars is that when you press the keys, it's much more difficult to press the keys closer to the top than the bottom of the keys. This probably has something to do with how the spring mechanism for the keys were designed, and I'm not sure if this is a problem with all keyboards on electronic pianos. It has taken some getting used to and sometimes, I miss notes because of the pressure differential. Also, the keys are a little too easy to press for my taste, although some might like it. Lastly, when you turn the volume all the way up, there seems to be a little bit of distortion in the sound as if the speakers can't handle all the noise, and it's hard to hear individual notes. Of course, just turn the volume down to medium-high or lower, and you don't have that problem anymore.

My wife is a member of an informal trio with her as the pianist and two friends with violins. They have a wonderful time playing together and want to be able to share their joy with others, even if a piano is not present. She asked for a keyboard for Christmas and I complied.

This is a wonderful keyboard, and certainly does not have any clicking keys as one reviewer noted. While it cannot compare with her handmade Kawaii 6 foot 5 inch grand piano, it certainly is not a disappointment. Even her piano teacher, who is probably the best pianist on the island, is impressed with the quality of the keyboard, and of the music produced. The physical size of the keyboard matches that of the grand piano, so be warned that transporting it requires care and a larger vehicle than her small one. But I will be happy to carry it for her and I did buy a matching carrying bag.

There are many "voices" to the keyboard, and my wife loves to experiment with ones such as the clavicord. The built in metronome is also a very nice feature. The instruction manual is extensive, and she has been reading it with gusto. In fact, she spends as much time on the keyboard as on the piano these days.

It also provides the option to practice at other locations that do not have a piano. One of the violinists is in this category and is thrilled that practices can now sometimes be held in her home. Having the keyboard has opened up many new possibilities.

While the keyboard is certainly not in the same bracket as a good grand piano, you should not be disappointed with owning one. For the money, this is a wonderful value and we both highly recommend it. And by the way, while it was a Christmas present, it was rather obvious when it arrived and I was not able to keep it away from her using it. She has now been using it for 4 weeks, and finds out new features every day. She continues to love it.

We received the keyboard very quickly and in perfect condition which was a concern because we are an FPO address overseas. It sounds great and the keys are semi-weighted. I doubt we will ever need to upgrade this keyboard since it has so many features and we are recreational players. Great choice if you want something more than a standard keyboard and less than a digital piano.

I bought the CAD headphone amp for use with an M Audio 610, iMac and Pro Tools 9. I've found the 610 has sufficient volume when I'm recording solo, but when my neighbor comes over to lay down keyboard tracks, the 610 isn't loud enough to hear the song while talking to relate chord/bridge changes. Also, the 610 routes the 2nd headphone out through main outs 3 and 4 instead of main outs 1 and 2, so another annoyance when two people need to monitor (originally tried a headphone splitter on the 1st headphone jack on the 610).

I chose the CAD model since it's made of steel, has the 4 headphone jacks in the front of the unit, and because I own a CAD Trion 7000 mic, and used to own CAD Equitek 100 and 300 mics. I read reviews from other headphone amps, so thanks to those folks who provided good insight. The HA4 didn't have any reviews at the time I bought it, so just wanted to relate experience.

I wasn't seeking any type of higher fidelity than the 610 provides, just to add a little bit of volume for when two or more people are recording and conversing, which the CAD does nicely. It has plenty of volume if that's what you need or want.

I only wish the input was on the rear of the unit instead of the front with the output jacks. Other than that, no complaints.
