I am a fairly active musician playing several performances and am in the studio recording a few days a week. I own several bass rigs including a full tube amp, a solid state amp, and a tube hybrid. So I have a fair assortment to compare it to. I bought the amp not knowing what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. I just unplugged from my tube amp and turned on the Line 6 and was not at all impressed. However, when I got it home and began to tweek it a bit, I found it to be great sounding and a lot of fun to use... While it is a modeling amp and the amps you a are simulating will sound better. You can get some great tones without bringing the house down......Very easy to use and adjust to get a sound that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Also the ability to store a few pre-sets is cool. Works great for switching guitars, you can even set up volume changes that you experience between different instruments..(as in passive to active or 4 and 5 strings). It would also be nice to have better control of the effects. The biggest draw back that I did notice is that it may not be powerful enough for a medium to large room. Although the direct line out sound is real good.I think that I would like to have more power in the event that I need it. So I'm going to get the HD750 to have 750 watts just in case. I hate to run it flat out. My main amps stay in the studio because they are too large to move unless I have to. This head will be my new amp of choice for playing out locally... It weighs roughly 30lbs. I don't want to leave you thinking that it isn't loud enough... It's extremely loud and I'm sure can perform at volumes that you shouldn't be playing at anyway! But for the price difference between the 400 & 750, I would rather have the unnecessary power on hand..... This amp is a great value for the money... Buy it!!!Buy Low Down HD400 Bass Amplifier Now
I swear IVe been playing off/on stage for the last 30+ years and I never bit the big one on a deal as bad as I did with this model (they HAD a 700 wat model and MAY have been worhtwhile ..probably why it was taken off the market...). Guys? Gals? if you play Bass and think the FX / so called 400 watts is going to get you by on stage? W R O N G!!! this thing totally SUX!! i usually dont trash products this bad either but this is the worst thing Ive ever bought. I bought a "USED" behringer ultrabass BX4500H that will BURY this P.O.S. ! sadly i bought the so called "shortboard" (which is actually their most Xpensive board_) thinking maybe its because i havent unlocked the fx/mods and thats whats wrong. ... NOPE just went another 265$ deeper in LOSS --bottom line dont buy if you ever plan on using it as far as gigging over anything past playing at somebody's HOUSE. it sux/its horrid/its garbage and I'd swear that the katz who make it are stoners-read the manual online someday if you get a chance and you will totally understand what im talking about. The "synth" FX is total loser which is sad because u can tell by the sound that it's using a decent Fx chip but the way the parameters were setup theyre not taking full advantage of it and it ends up sounding horrible-
Ive played with katz who use their guitar combo amp and it TOTALLY ROCKS!!! if yer playing guitar its a kool buy but if yer a Bassist blow it off /// treat it like a cyanide capsule/// pretend its a trick from Satan himself!!!! buy something from ANYONE else or you WILL be sorry-alas the only thing i could say its worthwhile for is STUDIO use and THATS ALL!!--at this point im (when on a stage that i feel like a want to make an impression) I will hook this and the Behringer BX450 up using a stereo preamp splitter anr run them both using about 6 12" speakers 4 10s and 3 15" speakers and it sounds alrite but again ANYTHING would thru all that!!!! --another thing that is a HUGE WARNING ... this thing only outputs in 4 ohm !!!!!!!! God help you if you buy or own the more common 8 ohm cabs because you'll have to buy another 8 to use it. for the price this thing is running for it is a total frikn BOMB !!
the Doc has spoken ..... Ive owned this thing for over 7 months now and wouldnt dare sell it to anyone I know for fear of revenge from the buyer (and ya im serious!) ... said all i can at this point and HOPE you'll head the warning.....
ps: if you own one and play gigs for god sakes write a review and tell me "where" I went wrong with this hunk-a-junk !..
