I purchased this as a gag gift for a coworker. We hung it up in her office while she was out to lunch.

The disco ball is of decent quality, although the edges of the mirrors can be very sharp. It also did not come with a cord or string (Not that it says one was included) but as this was my first disco ball purchase I didn't realize.

It has been hanging now for weeks, and has not had any problems with people spinning it all around.

The review voted "most helpful" for this 8" mirror ball described it as a "POS". I also read similar reviews on just about every mirror ball offered on Amazon and decided I'd better keep expectations low. Very low. Is there no manufacturer who can make a decent disco ball?

It turns out, yes, there is. It was a really pleasant surprise when this arrived and was, well, kinda fabulous and quite well made!! It's pretty darn heavy (this model is a solid core) and that could be a concern depending on how/where you hang it, but I dangle mine directly on the thick attached 'S hook' from a large toggle bolt that's screwed into a wood beam. It's pretty darn secure.

WORTH NOTING: my disco ball does NOT have the bottom 'nipple' as reflected in the online picture. It's just a smooth glass base; fear of impaling myself is greatly reduced.

The glass pieces are cut uniformly and, better yet, none were missing. Not a one. After hanging, still no dropped pieces. The box/interior packaging was more than adequate and, though I don't use it, it came with a Velcro cable tie. There's a warranty card and pamphlets explaining optional accessories.

I'm not currently using it with a motorized spinning base as mine is meant for a decorative, kitschy touch, not an actual disco party. But a quick spin with a flashlight and it illuminated and dazzled in the desired effect. Despite assuming I'd not be that impressed, it was indeed hypnotic.

This is too small for a large space. I'd call it a "personal size" disco ball. Adequate for a bedroom, small office, maybe 2 car garage. But if you're trying to save some bucks and use it in a banquet hall, nope. Size up.

On my day of purchase this was really inexpensive. For the price, and the warnings I may be sorely disappointed with the quality, I consider the purchase a rounding success! I see no reason that with basic common sense care, this won't last me for years.

I purchased this ball along with a 3rpm motor, 2 strobe lights, 2 spot lights and a black lights. I got this not only as a throw back to the wonderful disco era, but to allow my kids to have some fun on the weekends. It is very solid, strong and sturdy. It has been hit with nerf and plastic bats and still hanging and no loss of mirror squares. There are some mis-alighnments but at 8 bucks, it is soooo worth it. The wieght does not cause the rpm motor to make any sounds either!!

I decided to build a small disco for my kids last winter. Every Saturday night they have friends come over and this added a whole new dimention to our family fun times. Here is a list of what I bought from Amazon. All of this is still in perfect working order after almost a year of use. The moror is soundless and spins at the perfect speed. The strobes work well and will cause the required "where am I" feeling if left on too long. The Black light is strong enough to make anything 20 feet away glow brightly. Our living room is 20x 20 and with the lights out, the room is lighted perfectly.

I took a 10 ten foot long 1x8 board from home depot and placed the motor and mirror ball in the center. I placed the spot lights approximatle 2 feet to each side, with tthe color gel caps. The mini strobes are placed about 1 foot behind those. I put the Black light on the wall and ran all the cords to the wall mounted Power switcher so we can controll all of these with a flip of a switch. Mounted this boad accross my rafters with hole drilled into board so the cords could pass through and be hidden. I am not a DJ nor do I know what is better or best. I can tell you that we are happy with all these items and when kids come over they squeel with delight. Cant ask for more at this price.
