I've owned both the Clarity C120 TV wireless set, and, the TV Ears TV Ears 2.3 MHZ Wireless Headset System with 10 Replacement Ear Tips. Here is my candid comparison of the two wireless headsets for TV:

(1) TV ears is outrageously expensive. The C120 Clarity is about one-third the price of TV Ears and it functions just as well.

(2) TV ears is a rip off. You have to replace a styrofoam cover for the earpieces about every month. TV Ears is making a fortune selling you the replacements. Clarity headsets don't need styrofoam replacements. The piece covers are nylon and you can wash them (in a teach cup with a little dish soap).

(3) TV ears headsets will deteriorate and become unusable after about six months. Clarity headsets last years because they are more solid. They don't weigh anymore than the TV Ears headsets.

(4) Replacement batteries for TV Ears are outrageously expensive. Clarity batteries are readily available at about one-half the price of TV Ears headset batteries.

(5) The clarity charging station allows you to charge two headsets, and, two extra batteries. My spouse and I like to listen through headsets so we don't disturb our youngsters with the TV while they are sleeping. With an extra battery, you can be sure of having enough battery power on the headset to get through five or six hours of DVDs or television programming without out interrupting your viewing pleasure to recharge batteries.

(6) Clarity headsets have a volume/onoff switch that is easy to locate in the dark by feel. Finding the TV Ears switch on the headset, in the dark, requires special forces training . . . .

(7) You can pickup the Clarity signal from the base station from a much larger angle in the room than the TV Ears infra red base station. The infra red display for the C120 is curved and broadcasts the infra-red signal over a much broader area of the room (about 160 degrees). (The TV Ears infra-red display is straight and you are confined to picking up the signal to about a 40 degree cone emanating from it.

In short, the clarity system is cheaper, better, works better, is better made, more functional and longer lasting than "TV Ears."

This product is aptly named. The clarity is great. You can hear everything clearly and move around the room at will without having to worry about interference. However, the ear pieces are HUGE! After about ten minutes my ears were killing me. I ended up giving them away and ordering Sennheiser because of the earpieces. Admittedly, I'm a petite woman, but I had others try them on and they all said the same thing: ouch!

I have mixed feelings about this product. It's cheaply made, with rice-paper circuit boards (don't get it wet), and not real comfortable to wear. Audio quality and volume are very good, though. I got two headsets and on one, removed the earpieces and installed a jack to take my Sony earbuds. I had to change to home-away switch to a power switch, since the earpiece extensions were't there to trigger the microswitch for power. Much more comfortable, but harder to keep the transmitter visible to the receiver. As I said, though, they do the job for which they were intended.

This headset replaced one my mother sat on and broke.

It works better that the old one did, with crisper sound

and came with another battery. Now the old battery can

charge while mom drains the new one and its ready

to go.
