As a toy for very young children (ages 2-6 would be appropriate), this is a fine beginning drum kit. It comes with two drum sticks, head phones, and bass pedal. My three-year-old can't get enough of it, and the simple selections and very basic rhythms are perfect for him.

My biggest critique is that it runs only on AA batteries, and so you probably need to invest in a charger and rechargable batteries if you don't already own some.

As other reviewers have noted, if you are a serious musician or even an intermediate player, this is not an appropriate kit at all. It is one step more advanced than musical toys you'll find for enfants or toddlers.

But for the price and ease of use, it's perfect for a typical 2through 6-year-old before moving up to a real drum set.

I bought this at Target, and the rightmost pad stopped working after a week. They let me exchange it for a new one, and then a week later the leftmost pad broke.

This was a lot of fun-for the price. But it just isn't designed to take even a mild beating, which is the whole point of a drumset. Perhaps it'd be okay for a child, but it's not sturdy enough for an adult drummer.

The headphones and pedal are made of very light plastic. The recording function is a total joke; it only records for a brief amount of time.

I bought this as a fun toy to mess around with in my apartment, and it was serving that purpose at first. But the materials are of such poor quality that I can't imagine any adult not having the same problems I encountered.

We bought this for our 3 year old son for xmas. The middle pad broke within 7 hours and then another pad broke the next day. Granted my son is a little hard when he hits it but he is not trying to break it. We are going to return this for something that can withstand a 3 year old whacking on it.

I bought the drum pad for my six year old brother. I saw the negative reviews, but I decided to purchase it anyway. It came with basic instructions for drumming (not really for a six year old), headphones, a foot pedal, and drumsticks.

BIG MISTAKE!! I should have listened when people said it stopped responding. I don't think it was used once before it started making noises like someone kept tapping one of the pads. I took out the batteries, put them back in, turned it off and on...it's not working after less than 5 minutes of use and I am returning it.

Save your money. Don't gamble on getting the one good drum pad out of five. Find something else!

I bought this from Target for my 4 year old. The idea is great, my kid loves it but one of the drums does not even work. I didn't expect a top of the line instrument but I expected it to work.
