I've owned a Shure psm 400 system. There isn't much of a comparison, however, I am pleasantly surprised. The Bodypack is sturdy enough. The transmitter is a bit cheap looking, (but cmon.... this is a cheap system.) I wasn't expecting much. I purchased 2 systems for our church because I wanted to see if the frequencies interfered with each other, but they didn't so, I'll buy probably 2 more. It did take me 5 minutes to tweak the frequency to get it where i wanted it. Would not recommend for road/stadium gigging, but for small setting and a small budget, it will do fine.

This system works extremely well as long as certain provisions are made. For example, my unit had an AC adapter that was rated at 220 volts input. In some countries this may work, but wherever normal house voltage is 110 to 120 volts the output of this 12 vdc adapter will only be about 9 vdc or so. The transmitter MUST have 12 vdc or it will perform very badly so you may need to get another adapter at Radio Shack. Make sure the plug will fit the transmitter's receptacle properly and has the correct polarity and current rating. Once you have a comparable power supply you won't believe how well this system performs. I have used it onstage a few times and can go anywhere in the room without a dropout. The sound input is stereo, so when you hook up to a mono output (which is what normally comes out of most sound boards) one earphone will be louder than the other. Not a problem as I only like one earphone in anyway so I can hear the band with the other ear. Also remember to not have too high an input signal as this will cause distortion. If you follow these tips and experiment a bit you will have a good monitor system that didn't send you to the poor house.

This is a cheap in ear so I don't expect so much, but really this sound pretty good. The only thing you have to avoid is level overload that happen easily.

As a solo musician that requires a 12 channel mix involving various outboard stereo FX processors etc I had used a similarly priced unit from another manufacturer for approx 10 years which broke and I could not find an inexpensive In Ear System to replace it with . (Bluetooth is no good due to latency issues.) Discovered this via Amazon read reviews and took a chance. I did not even try the earbuds that came with it as I knew I had a better pair. It works flawlessly. Great quality broadcast. All the volume I need with a some in reserve. Still had a workable audio signal at almost 130 feet in backyard. No disrespect intended here to any other reviewers, however unless anyone had a faulty unit, then yes.. you will hear it primarily in one ear if your input is a mono signal. If your signal to the transmitter is too strong you will get distortion. Also if you do not tweak/fine-tune the frequency adjustment dials on the transmitter and the receiver, so that they match (via green light on receiver) -you will either get no signal or part/total distortion. I, for one am delighted with my purchase gamble !
