This is a rather convoluted review, because it involves a long back story.

I bought this thing early this year (2007) after being burned by the M-Audio Fast Track USB device. The M-Audio thing, I was told, wouldn't work with XP Media Center Edition. So, before I bought this Stealth Plug, I called them and specifically asked if it would work with XP MCE and the sales people assured me it would.

So I get it home and guess what? It didn't work! I went round and round with their tech support and never got a definitive answer of what was wrong.

Jump forward eight months to November. I wiped out my hard drive and installed XP Pro so I could use music hardware and software that I couldn't under MCE. Anxious to actually hear my Stealth Plug through the Amplitube software that came with it, I installed it and guess what? It did exactly the same thing as before!

I contacted Tech Support and got nothing at all from them. I called, left messages and nothing. Pissed off now, I did some deep research. That is when I found out that this product does NOT work with Windows, at least not like it's supposed to. It was only because of a review posted in December 2007 that I found out that though Amplitube is supposed to be able to be played stand-alone, the only way to get it to play through a PC is to plug your computer speakers into the headphone output of the plug, or run a patch cord from the headphone output to the microphone input of your sound card!

What kind of crap is that? How can it be stand-alone when it won't play through the sound card without a patch cord? Of course, it took a lot of tweaking to get it to sound right in my sound card since the headphone to microphone impedances are not quite a match. I haven't tried plugging directly into my speakers yet, but don't like reaching around behind the computer and messing with the jacks all the time.

It turns out, the ONLY way to configure Amplitube so it will work, is with the ASIO Stealth plug as the input AND output. There is no option to make the input the Stealth, and the output your internal sound card. Supposedly, Windows will not allow that. Is that dumb or what?

I was at Guitar center the other day, and the guy told me he heard rumors that IK was coming out with a major fix for this problem sometime in January, yet it that's true, nobody is saying anything about it at IK Multimedia.

So, what does it sound like? Well, after much tweaking to get a clean sound out of my sound card, I was able to play around with Amplitube. It has clean American, British, and Bass amps. The simulations are pretty good and you can tweak the knobs and get different sounds. There is also a variety of stomp boxes including distortion (of which there's enough already just from the sound card), phaser, phlanger, etc. The stomp box that doesn't make much sense to me is the wah. How are you supposed to play and manipulate the wah pedal with the mouse at the same time? There is auto-wah, but that gives little control.

So, it seems this system is designed for MAC's because in the PC world, Mr. Gates and crew do not allow multiple ASIO sound devices.

As I was typing this, I finally got a return call from IK Multimedia! The service tech confirmed the problem with the PC. He also said there is no fix coming because the problem is a Windows problem and they have no control over it.

So, this is not just a plug and play device like it's implied. And nowhere in the instructions does it say you have to run the headphone jack directly to your speakers or the microphone input of the sound card. Or, if it does, it is not very well stated. Tonight, I'm going to go back and read the instructions again, just to make sure.

Though there is a workaround for the PC, this thing should be advertised as a MAC device, as far as I'm concerned. Yes, you can get it to work, and Amplitube does a good amp simulation, but it is NOT just plug and play. After I try recording with it, I'll edit this review with the results. This device has a lot of potential, it just doesn't live up to it, yet...

First off, the StealthPlug requires the correct drivers to function properly. You have to take into consideration wether you are using a 32-bit or a 64-bit system. I tried installing the drivers that came in the cd, and the installation kept failing under a Windows 7 64-bit system. After reading the documentation I went ahead and completed the registration for the product, which allowed me to enter the user area in their website (ikmultemedia.com) and download the most recent updates for the product. They offer updates to make the StealthPlug compatible with Windows XP/Vista/7 operating systems in both 32 and 64 bit configurations.

It is essential that you complete the registration for the product in order to view and download the most recent updates. Once you get the correct drivers it's smooth sailing. The product is amazing considering what you get for the price. I was able to get the StealthPlug/Amplitude 2 combo for 65 USD (Included shipping). Like another user mentioned, there is a slight static hiss from the input line, but with minor tweaking you can produce a clean sound. Overall I am happy with the sound this produces, especially when using it with my Ovation Acoustic/Electric guitar. For those having problems with the product, I recommend reading all support material first before leaving negative feedback. The product works and sounds amazing.

I bought this as part of the Jimi Hendrix kit in October 2009. The stealth plug driver installation doesn't work and the product installation aborts. The IK Multimedia web site suggests going to their download section to download a 64 bit driver. Guess, what you can download product brochures and all sorts of other useless documentation but no drivers. It you want to make any contact with them, there are about twenty fields to fill out. If you are considering this product, I suggest you do a Google search on it first with search terms such as "stealth" "install" "Windows 7" or Vista for that matter. You'll likely bring back a lot of tales of woe around this product if your search yields the same results that mine did. I found a whole raft of problems people were having with this product in about 10 minutes on google. It's a shame that the tech support people at IK Multimedia don't do the same and fix up their product installation process or provide more support and better access on their web site. I've got the Line 6 Guitar Port which actually works and is a great product. This stealth plug and the Jimi Hendrix Amplitude pack looked very promising. It's a shame that it's a total disaster.

I planned on using this equipment instead of carrying around an amp while traveling. The stealthplug itself works fine. Has a little hiss to it. But the software that comes with it does not work. I have tried several whys to fix it including tech support. The drivers do not seem to be Vista compatable. In short, if you are wanting to use the effects advertised, be wary.

I bought the StealthPlug to use with my laptop (Windoze 7/64, you bet I'd rather have a mac!)while spending a couple months in a rehab facility after surgery. Figured I might get some recording in.

Fortunately, I'd read the other reviews here and knew the install was going to be a bit more involved than just a quick driver download. I set up my account with IK and downloaded Amplitube 3 and SampleTank 2.5 and the updated

drivers. These work fine.

Tracktion 2 refuses to co-operate with registration as does SampleTank 2LE--only one serial number was provided, which went for Amplitube 2. Good thing I knew about Reaper.

The unit itself does well, a little noisy, but I'm using a Telecaster, lol.

It's small, portable, and it sounds like a fly through the built in speaker but let me be the first to say that this tiny little synth has a HUGE sound.

The LFO is a tad on the noisy side, and the Oscillator is probably not the best in the world but for 60 dollars this thing is a steal! The filter alone is amazing sounding. I've used it with several other (VST) synths that i have and compared to the steppy modeled filters included with some synths the fully-analog filter on this is wonderful!

It doesn't have a lot of settings to tweak or a bunch of different presets to choose from but this little synth is tons of fun to play with!

OK, you have been shopping for cables to finish off your new home theater system and time after time a salesperson tells you about MONSTER cables. Well, when it comes to HDMI or Red/Blue/Green component cables, getting something nice with gold fittings is the way to go but spending big bucks to buy the MONSTER brand name is way over rated. Search our some similar but way cheaper cables on Amazon.com. Now regarding these optical cables. Brand means nothing. Transferring a light signal is transferring a light signal. A gold fitting means squat. As long as the optical cable you buy delivers the light signal from a cable box to your TV or audio system, you good to go. Example, I purchased a MONSTER Cable on sale for $38 bucks before I saw this cable on Amazon.com. Glad Circuit City has a 30 return policy with receipt because I sure used it. Once my less then less than a buck optical cable arrived and I saw that it delivered a light signal just like the MONSTER cable with the MONSTER price did, I returned that overpriced cable faster than you can say jack rabbit. When installing your optical cable, look close at the shape of the fitting and the shape of the whole it goes in. Kinda trick to make sure you are placing it in correctly and push it in snug. Do not jam it in without lining up which side is up. Also, do not crimp the cable. You are dealing with fiber optics here so keep the cord from bending at a sharp able to keep your light passageway from getting blocked. ENJOY AND SAVE BIG BUCKS.

I have a Sony STR-K760P receiver with 6.1 channel surround. I'm feeding my DVD in through digital coax, but my DirecTV and XBox both supply Dolby Digital 5.1 via optical output only. While these cables seem a bit delicate (I certainly wouldn't want to step on them, and I was careful not to bend them around sharp corners during setup) they work perfectly! Digital is all-or-nothing, either you get the full signal or you don't. There's no need to buy $20 $50 digital optical cables from Monster or any other manufacturer, these will work great. My XBox sounds amazing when playing DD 5.1 games.

Compare this cable to a $20 dollar cable (same length) sold in a fancy box with a equally fancy brand name, then ask yourself if you notice any difference.

It will cost you $24 total to compare, then you'll start ordering all of your audio cables from parts express and you'll save a ton of $$ in the future.

You get what you pay for, but these do not look like the picture. Connector ends broke off. Very cheap. Threw them away.

I wanted to connect my XBox to my surround sound system, so i did a search for "XBox optical" and the Xbox 100X Fiber Optic Cable by Monster Cable came up. I'm a total noob about audio, so i checked with a friend to see if the XBox needed a particular style of optical cable or if any would do. He suggested that any would do, so i found this 3' cable for about one tenth of the price of the monster cable. I'll cut the long story short: it worked perfectly. For me, it's not worth paying 10 times the price to get a similar product with a fancy name on it.

I read all the technical blogs concerning signal reflection in a dmx daisy chain connection. I can't believe you would not use these! It makes total sense to absorb the signal at the terminus and keep your equipment obeying commands properly. This cleared up an obvious problem just like it was supposed to.

We bought this keyboard last week and are having a blast with it!

I've always wanted to learn to play the piano, and while this isn't a piano, it's as close as I can get while I'm living in an apartment.

It came with a stand and power supply, but not headphones like the premium version, all for less than $100 at Target.

There is a song bank with over 100 songs to choose from, and it teaches you to play 3 different ways. It has a voice to tell you which fingers to use to play which can be turned off with the push of a button. The keys light up really well, and the sound is acceptable for the price.

The only thing that I don't like is the display. It's a little hard to see when you're sitting down and playing. It would be nice if it was angled a little so there wasn't a glare on the screen.

Overall, I'd say it's worth the money.

We bought this online on Amazon for my 5-year-old nephew for Christmas -haven't tested it on him yet, but we have met with a two concerns right off the bat:

no AC adapter included in this package (it does state this on the website if you look under the specs). You can buy one separately for $17.95 on Amazon, or buy the keyboard with the accessories package for another $30 more, but with a stand and headphones too.

it arrived at our door in the original Casio box, illustrated and all, packing label stuck to the box. Am actually surprised that no one stole it before we got home.

After stocking up on the 6 AA batteries it requires, it seems to be working well. Now we have to go order the plug!

Be very careful when ordering this product. The keyboard itself is great, but in the Amazon product description under "What's in the Box," it states that the keyboard comes with a stand. It does not in fact come with a stand. All you'll get here is the keyboard. I ordered this as a Christmas gift, so this was very embarrassing and disappointing. In the end, I returned the keyboard to Amazon, and purchased the exact same model from Target for a lower price, but with the stand and AC adaptor included!

Our child hasn't had one piano lesson (yet!) and we bought this due to her interest. The other day a friend commented on how talented she was on their piano when she was playing with their child who takes lessons. When I told her we hadn't gotten around to lessons yet she was astounded. "How is she so good on the piano?!", she asked and I realized it's 100% from playing on this lighted key casio. Really fun for kids who get bored, want to play on their own and don't know a lot yet. Makes playing fun. Great price point, glad we got it. Over a year now and no issues with it.

nice keyboard....to start on....not to stay on for more than 3 yrs if you want to become a good piano player. 1st off...therea only 61 keys! 2nd they are not weighted...3rd off....its big and bulky....and lastly but not least-ly they do not come with headphones! good thing about it is that it has good volume, sound(s), and mic vol. The Casio SP-3R is a good sustain pedal to use with it. 4-5* completely!
