It does what it's suppose to, but there's not much to it. It's made of all plastic; it feels very hollow and cheap. The Peavey logo lights up when plugged which, which looks pretty neat. The main problem is that the volume control on the side does not control the output level, but just the monitoring level of headphones/line out. I found that to be a pretty important factor missing from the Xport. Noise and latency were pretty minimal, especially considering the price of the interface. Another thing I didn't like about it is the ReValver HPse that came with the device. It only comes with two amps, the ValveKing, the 3120, and a very small number of effects. Even the free demo version of ReValver has more features. This interface is very small and very basic, but I wouldn't use it for anything more than simple demos for recording riffs at home.

Really awful. Get the Apogee Jam, have less noise and higher quality. This guy broke the day I bought it, it just stopped working.

I installed this device on 3 different mac computers according to the instructions and it does not function on any of my macs. I called Peavey support twice and each time was asked to leave a message in vmail. No one ever returned my calls after 3 weeks. I am an IT professional by day and a studio owner by night. I setup software and hardware all day long and half the night. The mac drivers seem to not function. When Peavey does not respond to my messages that explained the issues, pretty much tells me the shizzle does not work as advertised. I've used Peavey products over the years and love them. This thing is crap for mac!!!

I bought this to start using guitar software (Overloud, Amplitube, etc.) on my pc. Simple setup using the line level output to active studio monitors. When I first tried it, it sounded great. Crystal clear interface. After about 3 hours of play time, I noticed a crackling and humming noise in my speakers when I was playing the guitar. A high pitched whine also started coming from my pc when this thing is plugged into it. It wasn't very loud and it was difficult to tell where it was coming from at first. I unplugged the Xport and it stopped. Plugged it back into a different port and it started again. Very weird. I tried other USB devices in the same ports with no issues. I swapped all the cables out to make sure that wasn't the problem. Even plugged my guitar into an amp to make sure it didn't have wiring issues. It looks like this thing is just another overpriced, low quality piece of junk. Build quality is lacking too, cheap plastic. Maybe it's a fluke, but I'm not going to waste my time trying another one. Had it for four days and I'm in the process of returning it. Now looking for something higher quality.

This is noisier than I had hoped. Also, it constantly drops audio, even with max buffer settings. This is on two different PC's, so I know the device is at fault. My Scarlett 2i2 works flawlessly, and isn't that much larger, so I guess I'll stick to that.

My setup Win7 64-bit, Guitar Rig 5, Sonar X1. Self-built desktop, Lenovo X230 laptop.

I'll try again after a fresh install of Windows, but I don't anticipate any changes.

I wish the Apogee Jam worked on Windows.

I had a previous pair last about a year that I was very happy with. The new one I ordered had no adhesive used at all (mistakes happen) To my surprise when I removed the rubber ear bud to replace it with a larger one, the whole headphone assembly came out with it.

This is an unusual product because it's monophonic instead of stereo. Here's the issue: when I put my iPod in my shirt pocket and want to listen to some background music or talk show, I also want to remain in contact with the rest of the world. 2nd: I don't want 3 feet of wire dangling from my ears. This item solves both problems. It only uses one ear; the other is open to conversations, etc. It has a single, yes single, cable that's just long enough to reach from your shirt pocket to your ear. There's no extra wire dangling around. Both the left and right channel of the music is connected to the single earbud. The fabric covered cord is also very high quality so that you are not afraid of any damage.

UPDATE 10 Jan 2011: The power supply died (due to the voltage fluctuation in my area i'm assuming) and one of the pads isn't working (floor tom). It could be a minor problem, I'll be taking it apart to check. Everything else works fine.

Alright peeps, this is my review of the Pyle Pro PED06. We shall now refer to this unit as PYRO PAEDOSex or PYRO for short. LOL.

And nevermind the hip hop references.

INTRO

First up, I'm not a real drummer. LOL.

I've been playing guitar and singing lead vocals in a hard rock band for over 7 years. I have also been producing for 4 of hose years so have a pretty good understanding of drum concepts and implementation. LOL. Meaning I know how drums should be played and how they should sound. It all starts in the mind right?

Basically I started playing drums about two weeks ago to keep my band prithvi and mc/bc rolling. My brother who played drums for us had moved to another group.

So I needed something that I could practice on at home.

My criteria was that:

1. It should feel like a regular drum kit

2. It should sound like one.

The PYRO meets these pretty well.

Now I have no prior experience with an electronic kit to be frank.

However I do know that considering how IMPOSSIBLE it is to practice on real drums in an apartment, its almost a no brainer.

Plus a major major part of rock drumming is hand foot coordination. This can be definitely be honed to perfection on a kit such as this.

REVIEW:

SHIPPING:

Amazon did well to deliver the kit on time so thumbs up to them for that.

I received the kit on 3rd Feb. It actually landed in India on 1st Feb but spent two days at Delhi Airport because Air hostesses were using it as a sexual pacifier. LOL.

No actually because Indian imports and customs are CRAP and I needed to send them some kind of a disclaimer form.

I actually needed to call dhl to ask them what the hell was going on. They never called me and I lost 2 days in the process. Thats terrible considering I couldve been a better drummer today. LOL.

COST: $394

I did do some research on digital drum kits on amazon and had shortlisted two kits in this price range ($300-400):

Alesis Dm6 and PYRO.

I chose the PYRO because its pedals LOOKED more Heavy Duty with silver stuff embossed on black metal. get it? Black metal! :P

I also chose this because the description on amazon said that it had 20 kits and 200 something voices. Thats incorrect :(

ALERT: Althought this item description says this kit has 20 drum kits and 10 user kits. thats WRONG! It actually has 10 kits and 5 user kits witha total of 108 voices.

Also, although the picture here shows the words PYLE PRO on the pedals, the kit I got actually has a cool metal flame embossed instead. Which is definitely a great and welcome surprise.

I think I saw another digital drumkit on Amazon with flame pedals.

My take on this is that all these drums are made in China and probably at the same factory so they probably mixed them up. Not that it matters.

CONSTRUCTION:

When I opened the package I thought they sent me Robocop in a box. LOL.

The drum brain looks like a robot head. Its very cool.

The construction of the kit is Heavy duty. The frame is made of solid heavy metal. The snare drum is made of thrash metal. The entire kit is probably about 85% metal and pretty good quality. The rungs and holders are all SOLID metal. You could probably break doors and threaten neighbours with them. Don't do that though. :P

Even the drum sticks provided seemed nice. They're about medium gauge but feel good and sturdy. Not cheap.

I have never assembled a drumkit before but this was very easy to figure out and the entire kit was assembled and ready to play within 30mins.

The supplied adaptor is very cool as it supports voltages from 100 to 240 volts. That's pretty good. I didn't risk it though and used a step down transformer that I had.

The pedals are also very good. They are almost the same size as conventional drum pedals.

The preset action on the kick is perfect. Its like an actual DW (I have a 7000) or Tama kick pedal in its response. This pedal can probably be used as a regular kick pedal so that's a good thing.

SIZE:

The rungs are adjustable and the kit overall is VERY compact. The design is clever which allows you to fold the kit up in case you need to put it away. That's a useful thing for people like me living in modest dwelling.

SOUND:

I have only really tried the first kit (STANDARD) and let me put it to you this way: It sounds like a well tuned well mic'd and mixed drum kit in a great studio. The samples used for each piece are good sounding and robust. The pads are touch sensitive but you do have to smack them kind of hard to get a sound. I'm not sure if all electronic kits are like this.

To be more clear, for instance if you would tap a cymbal very gently, you would definitely hear something. But with these pads, you need to hit it with some amount of firmness to get a sound. If you tap it gently there won't be a sound. Or at least not one you can hear. Once again please remember this is my first time on an electronic kit. Chances are its probably a question of pads used. This might improve their durability in the long run.

The snare is very very good and has a dual trigger which means you can do rimshots etc.

The hi hat pedal is responsive and works well with the hi hat pad.

I'm sure this kit will sound even better as a midi trigger. Simply because with midi you can have different layers triggered for different velocities on each piece in the kit. That makes it sound even more realistic. Not that it doesn't already sound good but the kit will definitely sound better with midi. I have yet to try this and will share the outcome of that in an update.

OVERALL:

Well I've only had the kit for less than 12 hours but so far it seems great. I'm itching to go back to my apartment and play it.

Apart from being a practice tool I'm looking forward to recording using it and you can get some VERY decent drum tones out of the box. And with MIDI triggering you can forget the studio altogether (I haven't tried it yet on this one so don't quote me on that yet).

I hope this review was helpful to you. Please do give me your feedback and check out my music. I'll be updating this later.

Have fun.

UPDATE: 9th Feb 2011

MIDI: Midi works.

Updated: 6th April: Used the kit to successfully trigger and record using EZdrummer. Touch sensitivity intact. I was having some trouble with MIDI stopping working on the VST which then needed to be restated sometimes. It could be a problem with the VST. I shall find out and share the results!

Update: 2012

One of the pads stopped triggering. I tested the connections and it turns out the pad itself is fine but there may be something wrong in the connection to the drum brain or the drum brain itself. I haven't been able to fix this yet and so am making do with a two tom setup.

CONCERNS:

1. The audio level is KIND OF low in both the headphones and the line out.

2. The Rubber cymbal pads and snare top get stick marks real fast. I suggest taking some of the soft padding material that came with this kit and sticking it over those parts you hit. I did it and now its not so bad.

I'm on youtube as arjunkaul the king of rocknroll

i love this digital drum set. i've had it now for a good amount of time and it still rocks every time.

i love the versatility, compactness, small size that can be taken anywhere, and all the settings and sounds and styles that it has.

i would lie if i say that i haven't had problems, but i expected it. on of the connections in a cable went bad after a while, but it was for using it so much... as i said expected. nothing that a little fixing couldn't take care of.

i still believe it is worth every buck.

I have used different cables for my Triple Fi 10. The default cable, of course, is a piece of garbage. I also used the braided ES8 cable from Jaben. The braiding on that cable developed a bad habit of unraveling, and the hooks around the ears eventually developed a green color. The Jaben cable just wasn't doing the job anymore, so I knew I needed something else. I saw this cable and eventually decided to buy one. When I used it for the first time, I noticed what a major improvement it was over my previous cables. I'm so glad I bought it. I may be using my TF10 more often because of this cable.

Great build quality on this Fiio cable. The braiding on this cable is tight and looks like it won't unravel. The metallic plug on the cable also looks well-built. It's a straight plug, but I prefer an L-shaped plug. Not a big deal, and I won't deduct points since I knew about it before buying. I like the ear hooks since they maintain their form without being stiff. The ear hooks are just a thin layer of flexible plastic; no memory wire to constantly adjust. The memory wire on other cables would sometimes lose its shape which got annoying. This is something I no longer have to worry about. There is no metal in the ear hook, so I'm guessing that there shouldn't be any discoloration. I'll have to see what happens after some heavy use.

As for the sound, the bass seems tighter and vocals seem smoother with this cable. There is definitely an improvement in sound quality. I'm not good at describing sound, so that's pretty much all I can say about that.

The Fiio RC-UE2 cable is well worth the purchase. A great replacement that doesn't cost much. It can be found cheaper if you look around. I got mine for $28 somewhere else, so there are cheaper options out there.

-------------------------------

Update:

This cable can pick up rubbing noises at times. It easily picks up noise when the two wires past the Y-split rub against each other. Sliding up the cable cinch so the cables don't rub against each other seems to solve this problem. I use my earphones at home while sitting down, so I haven't noticed any other rubbing noises yet.

-------------------------------

Update 2:

I'm really starting to notice how microphonic this cable is. It easily picks up noise when any part of the cable rubs against something. Sliding the cable cinch real high or using the shirt clip seems to help. A rather annoying problem though.

Also, the material of the cable feels kind of stiff and plastic-like. I wish it were made of a softer material. The cable also coils up on itself. The problem may disappear if I store my earphones without wrapping them. That's how I store them though, so I really notice the problem every time I use my earphones.

I changed my rating from 5 stars to 4 stars. I still think that it's a great cable, but it does have some issues that stood out to me.

My UE's were accidentally shut in a car door so that was the end to the factory cable. I purchased these as a replacement and found them a pleasant upgrade.

Bass is a little punchier and they feel a little more airy. As a heavier than stock gauge it does not suffer as much at higher volumes.

The biggest upgrade is the feel. The factory cable was very stiff especially when cold and uncomfortable. This one is limp as a braided rope and comfortable. It comes with a shirt clip and also adjusts up and down at the split point just like the factory cord. It is rope like and pearl like in appearance.

My only complaint is while the connector is extremely heavy duty the lack of a right angle connector is not as nice for me. Normally I use these when I work out and wrap excess cord around my mp3 connector. I do not think a sharp U bend at the connector will fare well for these over time. This is my usage however and not a fault of the product so I would not drop a star.

I was always skeptical about improvements in a particular set of ear pieces's performance, just by upgrading the cables. The UE Triple-fi 10 IEMs are particularly known by the poor quality factory cables. The original cable lasted nearly two years, a replacement factory cable was over in one year, after less than 50 hours of use. Instead of wasting money on another pair of factory cable, I looked for third party options, and I was fortunate to come across the RC-UE2 by FiiO. The difference in sound is hard to describe, you have to hear it to believe it. The bass is a lot more powerful, clear and punchy, the sound stage is wider, an the overall details are increased significantly. This cable may be the best upgrade anyone can get for these IEMs, at lest for the price anyway.

This review will be concise and to the point. I's not really an avid reviewer, however, in some instances I feel obligated. Also, no one has reviewed this item yet so I'll put in my experience and perhaps might persuade some potential buyers...As far as sound quality I didn't do a wire comparison...but I didnt buy them for that reason. Maybe someone else could comment on that.

This cable is exactly what Ive been waiting for. I have had my ultimate ears triple fi 10's for a couple years now. They are amazing IEM's but man is it a frustrating set..due to comfort/fit issues. I initially assumed the problem to be associated with ear tips. I have tried all kinds... the included pairs, all 3 types comply has to offer, and also a sony set. With the slightest wiggle these buds would always slip out of my ear no matter what tip I used. So I decided to try my luck with an upgrade cable. The OEM cable is just a strange material. It fails to be loose enough to be comfortable and not flexible in way that is beneficial. It just kind of takes its own shape and you try and deal with it. I had trouble with the memory wire around my ears and was constantly adjusting it to no avail. When FiiO introduced their first version of the replacement cable to the triple fi's (RC-UE1) I was excited for it and bought it straight away. It took on a more traditional material that just hangs loosely. It was good cable but the wire was very dense, thick, and therefore heavy. Also, the jack on them was quite large, but that wasnt a huge concern. The wire was just so heavy that it would pull the buds from my ears, however, i liked the way the non-memory wire fit around my ears...it was close to being what i needed...but anyways...on to the good.

This 2nd attempt at a UE replacement cable is awesome. The new braided design is super lightweight. I jam the buds in my canals and then the wire just kind of fits around my ear more naturally. I never feel the wire antagonizing my attempt to keep the IEMS secure. I actually mowed my whole lawn (about 2 hours) without them falling out or even needing adjusted. FiiO has also improved the 2.5mm jack, it is much smaller and more appropriately sized than their 1st cable. Also, they come with a wire clip to hook the wire to your clothes to avoid any tugging on the wire...

In conclusion, I love this wire and it has increased my listening time for my UE's 10 fold. Combined with the comply "comfort" foam tips i have finally found a set-up that is comfortable and stays put for hours at a time. I can finally enjoy these IEM's instead of just keeping them holstered due to all the hassle that would ultimately ensue everytime I got them out. 5 stars and 2 thumbs up!!

Want FiiO RC-UE2 Replacement Cable for Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10 PRO Discount?

This cable is not bad as a replacement consider its price range, didnt expect much to being with. The only thing that I don't like is the fitment of the "ear hook". Its a bit too big for my ears, they pretty much wrapped the cable with a clear plastic tub thing. I tried to wear this when I go to the gym, and thats kinda annoying, so if you are looking to hit the gym with these cable I'll look for something else.
