Our 8 year old daughter wanted to take piano lessons. We really didn't want to go out and buy a piano until we knew if she would stick with it. This product meets our needs and is very good.

my wife wanted something to learn/get better at piano with. She doesn't use it very much but it seems to be a good product for her.

there are lots of features i don't even understand. I bought this to let my kids learn how to play piano a little, read notes and understand the relationship of the keys and sounds associated with them. I also have been playing some and enjoy it. Everyone is happy with the performance so far. I understand there are other models with weighted keys to make the feel of the keyboard more like an actual piano. I would like to try that out to see the difference, but as this is, I think it's fine.

I've been playing Casio keyboards for years, and this is the first one that has disappointed me. The piano sounds ok to me through the headphones, but without them the tone sounds muffled, as if surrounded by cotton -i.e., none of the "brightness" of a piano. I'd be interested to know if anyone else has experienced this. I'd like to find a Casio keyboard with a better sound, the kind I'm used to.

Also, as others have noted, the touch of the keys is (to me) too "liquid"; I find it hard to attack notes properly in piano or organ mode especially. Just sayin'.

Hi,

I wear my Sansa Clip+ on my bike & motorcycle, as well as hiking, and wanted to secure the cord of the headphones.

This clip works well, it's a bit big, but for my big hands it's great.

Strong spring, good bite with the "teeth" to keep it in place.

The small clip to route the cord through it good as well, I route the 2 small cords coming off the earbuds before they merge into one.

I also bought a smaller one from a different company, but it was too small and difficult to use, this one works much better for my needs.

If you like to keep you headphone cord where you want it, and are tired of it catching on things, this clip works very well, and it's only a few bucks.

peace,

ss

I read reviews here stating that the alligator spring strength was excellent, and that's all I cared about. As far as the cord-holder slippage issue went, it was a non-issue for me because I generally customize things anyway. Besides, I was doubtful that the cord clip would be able to handle the wide gauge of the Grado SR80i -and I was correct. Moreover I didn't want my lines crimped, so even if the clip was adequate I planned on a DIY job that would be kind to my lines.

Simply took two small plastic zip ties -one loop around the cord clip and the second snugly wrapped around the cord after interlacing the first zip tie. Snip off the tails, and now it's a perfectly adequate cord clip for my heavy can cords. If it's not immediately obvious why two zip tie loops were needed, just visualize looping a zip through the cord clip gap pictured in the product photo. the line would only be able to run parallel to the alligator jaws; therefore, a second loop around the first loop and the cord is needed for a line to run perpendicular. Using black zip ties, it's hardly noticeable. Very simple mod -the jaws on this clip are good for thick cords like you'd find on any audiophile-level on-ear or circumaural cans, and the zip tie is just loose enough not to crimp the cord, and yet tight enough to prevent slippage.

After my Plantronics clothing clip failed (after just a month of usage), I thought I'd try this one.

Trust me: It's a complete joke. Not only is it incredibly difficult to squeeze the alligator-style clip open (as there's absolutely nothing to grip on the squeezy-ends, so it keeps slipping out of your finger-tips), but the part that's supposed to hold the headphone cables is WOEFULLY inefficient, and it just lets the wires slide right through.

The clipping portion is ridiculously strong, though! I can't see it coming unsecured at all. BUT WHAT'S THE POINT IF IT DOESN'T SECURE THE HEADPHONE WIRES?

I think I'm upgrading to some bluetooth headphones, as these bouncing headphone wires are driving me nuts on my jog.

This clips is very strong & with good quality material, only we need to take care when we put the cable, is a little hard to do it, but not a big problem.

I recently purchased new PureGear in-ear headsets with a tangle-free flat cord. Great sounding headset EXCEPT for the cord noisewhen the cord pretty much touches anything, the mechanical noise from the cord will be transmitted to your ears. It is distracting and annoying.

The key to eliminating cord noise is to isolate the cord between your ears and a fixed point (usually an article of clothing) using a clip so that this section of cord won't touch anything. (The cord from the clip to your player/phone won't transmit the noise to your ears.) But flat cords limits the clip choices out there because most clips are designed for round cords. The Audio-Technica AT8439 can accommodate both flat and round cords, has a STRONG clip to attach to a shirt or a thick coat. It takes care of this problem nicely, and is cheap.

The good:

* clean recordings

The bad:

* motu tech support is the worst I've ever seen. I submitted a ticket regarding loud static noise when trying to play back. Turned out the firewire card I had is not compatible with motu devices. They require TI chipset firewire cards. I only figured this out after a buddy told me. Tech support got back to me after two months and didn't even have the right answer for me.

* Cannot name tracks on windows.

* No linux support.

* The user interfaces are very difficult to use (both hardware and software)

** Cuemix is complex and hard to get signal flow right because of this. All the different monitoring options and multiple volume knobs can easily put you in a state of pulling your hair out.

** Front panel knobs are too close together in that your finger cannot fit in between the volume knob and the headphone knob so you can't actually turn the thing in a normal way.

MOTU's hardware has great potential but they really need to focus on usability and window and linux support. Or they should simply drop windows support completely instead of half assing it to get customers.

This interface and the MOTU support system are erratic. The device icon in Audio MIDI Setup installs correctly the first time. Then, in a later session, it appears duplicated and numbered as #2, and the original icon is grayed out. This breaks the connections of all MIDI controllers connected to the original device. Throughout various permutations it became clear that this is a persistent problem, requiring reconfiguration of the MIDI setup each time the computer and interface are powered off and back on. Initially, MOTU was enthusiastic and assured me that I should forward any questions to them. However, after a few emails, they went silent. The official technical notes I entered into their support system remain unread (as of this writing). Tech support at MOTU has consistently stated that their products work correctly, and any issues are due to other factors. This may be true in any event they do not necessarily work with the customer until the problem is resolved. I rate this product a two. It fails as a MIDI interface. It works adequately as a professional audio only interface.

Bought this as an upgrade to my MOTU 2408mkII. It's an improvement in every way. Though considering how long this unit has been on the market, you'd think it would be less expensive. Still, a good value for home studios.

Want MOTU 828mk3 Hybrid Firewire Audio Interface Discount?

I have this hooked up via Firewire to my Windows 7 desktop PC that I use for my home studio. I run Sonar for my DAW. The audio drivers for the MOTU are rock solid and introduce no latency whatsoever. The vast selection of I/O ports and seemingly infinite configuration options make this a wonderful addition to any home studio.

If you use the included CueMix FX software to control this device you will not be able to name the inputs or mixes in the software, in other words you'll have to *memorize* what's connected to Input 1, Input 2, Mix 3, Mix 4, etc. They don't know why input labeling doesn't work in Windows and have no plans to sort it out. That's not satisfactory.

Also, my 828Mk3 issues random high pitched whines from time to time, not via its outputs but coming from some component inside the unit itself. Rebooting it cures it for a while and MOTU isn't sure what's going on. So I guess I'll have to return it.

I honestly was excited when I got this unit and saw that it was Made in the U.S. Now I sort of wish it was made in China.

I honestly can't believe this was only a hundred dollars.

Don't get me wrong, this is not the rig you need to do serious, professional recording, especially if you want to have a guest in studio. But to do a high-quality, one person, talk-oriented podcast, I think it would be difficult to beat.

If you are like me, you love the idea of doing a podcast, but are slightly reluctant to spend a lot of money because you're not sure if you are really going to be able to pull it off. Maybe you won't get the website to work right, maybe you didn't read the fine print on your host site, maybe this, maybe that... There are just so many variables. I didn't want to pay several hundred dollars for a rig and then it end up being more trouble than it's worth. This set-up here makes it much less risky.

The mic is sensitive within several feet, but did not pick up the air conditioner that is about 15 feet away. This to me is a plus as I don't want to have to edit out every piece of atmospheric sound. The mixer is as basic as it gets, but gave me the flexibility to get my levels right for a consistent sound even when I added in promos and podcast safe music.

The head phones are on the cheap side, but they are functional. The cushions come off pretty easily and are a pain to get back on.

But all in all, this set-up allowed me to make a very convincing podcast with minimal financial investment. The first episode of my podcast was tinny sounding, but then I learned more about Audacity and how to use it and the future episodes got better and better. The problem was not the equipment, but the suggestions I was following to make the audio sound "better".

One thing I do recommend is a pop filter. I didn't think it was that big of a deal, but it is. It is much easier to listen to voice-only files when there is a pop filter.

If you would like to hear what a podcast created with this set-up sounds like, Google, "Christian With A Brain" and download the first episode and then some of the later episodes. Or look for it on iTunes. You can hear for yourself. Every episode was recorded with this rig.

Happy Podcasting!

The PodastStudio enables the user to create professional podcasts, video narraration, and sound clips cleanly and with little effort. I did not use the software that shipped with the equipment as it wasn't as good as the multitrack software that I already own.

If you are looking to get into podcasting but don't want to break the bank than this is the way to go. I have used the podcast studio to record, edit, and publish my first podcast. It is easy to use and the sound quality is very good. This is a great starter kit. Beware of the instructions, since they are not that great. I went to podcast lane (website) and used a video tutorial to put it all together. I was up and running in about 15 minutes. This is really a great buy for the upstart.

I have been using this setup for podcasting the sermons at my church and it is nothing short of wonderful. It is easy to use and highly portable. If you download the audacity software (and the LAME converter to make mp3 files from audacity website) you have software that is simple to use and very effective.

For the money, this product can't be passed up. And the fact that it comes with its own mixer gives so much control over the quality and sound level of a recording. Highly recommended.

I had it working in 20 minutes. The only reason it took me that long is that I had never used Audacity before and had to figure out where to set the Input and Output. The U-Control is Plug-n-play with Vista (no driver is needed).

It's much more clear than I expected. It's just an excellent buy for the money and very easy to use. (I'm not an Audio Engineer but I have run several mixers and sound systems for churches than I have attended.)

Like the other reviewer, I am using these clamps on my wakeboard tower on my boat. I plan on using them to build a ski boom to the side of my boat for amateur(kids) skiers and wakeboarders to learn. I love that these are aluminum (won't rust) and very heavy duty rated at 1,100 lbs. each.

FYI for a more accurate description, the securing bolt with the wingnut is a 1/2" bolt. The attachment bolt (black) is not fixed in the housing but is a flat head bolt with a hex "slot." It is a 3/8" diameter bolt. It sticks out from the aluminum clamp by 3/4".

I also attached a picture of the black bolt.

I'm actually using these to hold speaker cans to my wakeboard tower on my boat. Two years and no rust on the steel parts and they hold the cans well even in rough water.
