Good quality and does what it is suppose to. I actually use this on my computer, splitting audio to computer speakers and TV since I have the TV connected to the computer. I have had no problems with this item to date.

First, the jacks didn't work correctly. When I pushed the headphone cable in all the way, the sound was in one speaker at a very low volume. Pulling it out just a little made it work as desired, but then you can't move! Also, the description says black and so is the picture, but what I got has red and white jacks. I've returned them.

Needed this by Friday. Ordered on Wednesday morning with the two day shipping,,,,came right on time to my door on Friday ! This is a beautiful guitar,,,,it came flawless right out of the box,,,the neck is absolutely beautiful. The amp is a great starter bass amp,,,,performed beautifully in a large room when I needed it that weekend. It's also compact enough to toss in my car and practice and store in my tiny apartment. The accessories could be better, but seriously, for the price you can't really ask for more. Fender cold have charged this price for the guitar alone,,, it's that nice. During the gig that weekend a coulple of the other musicians came up to compliment me on what a nice bass guitar it was. The bag fits just fine for me, but it's not padded, so eventually you may want to get one that is. Be advised, you'll need one of those square 9V batteries for the tuner. The instructional DVD it comes with isn't that great,,,,I recommend 'The Rockhouse Method' 'How to play bass guitar-Beginnner' for a more comprehensive tutorial. Also comes with a very nice Fender guitar chord to connect to the amp and a set of headphones.

We purchased this set for my son who is a beginning bassist. The quality of the instrument and the amp was impressive. The accessories were MUCH less so. The gig bag didn't even fit the bass unless you stretched it. All in all, a good value if you don't expect much from the peripherals.

I'm an experienced player. Got this for my son. Decent action and tone is good. New strings are recommended, but perfect for any beginner. Amp has plenty enough juice and tone to start. Recommended highly.

I bought this so people who came to our house could jam in case they didn't own or bring over a bass well, it is SO good for the money I'm playing it, too, and my Grandson wants to learn the Fender quality is there, although not a pricey bass, the 'J' has enough features to make it sound really good the amp is awesome, too, bringing plenty of power for practice or small-stage use buy it and you won't be unhappy you did!

The set really had everything a beginner needs to get started, with the exception of a 9 volt battery for the tuner. Good stuff.

The Powerpod 820 Powered Mixer was purchased as a 2nd unit for our acoustic instrument band. The Phonic was appealed as it has phantom power, it can run monitor speakers, and it is it is extremely lightweight. It is more complicated than the basic 4-channel powered mixer as it has some features found in a studio mixer.

The 820 has three modes of operation. One is as a stereo powered mixer for live sound. The 2nd mode is for mono live sound with a mono monitor channel. The 3rd mode allows you to use the main amplifiers to drive a submix signal path. These modes are controlled by the AMP SELECT switch.

Modes 1 and 2 duplicate the MAIN-MAIN and MAIN-MONITOR modes of Peavey MP and XR Powered Mixers. Each of the 2 power amps in 820 can handle two 8 ohm speakers. Each amplifier has two output jacks so you can connect all four speakers directly to the back of the mixer. In an oversight by Phonic, however, they put the speaker output jacks too close together so if you use the heavy duty Peavey TR speaker cables with the larger diameter grips, it is difficult to get 4 of them plugged in at once.

The 820 boasts 16 digital effects of which only 2 are useful to us. One is Hall Reverb and the other is Room Reverb. There are effects send controls for each of the 6 input channels, an effects Parameter knob to control the time parameter of the selected effect, and separate knobs to control effects send to main and effects send to monitor. One oddity of the effects processor is that you have to turn it on using a separate switch rather than it just being there when you send a signal down this path. Once turned on, however, the 820 remembers your setting even after turning off the power.

You can also connect the 820 to remote effects processors and return the signal back into your mix. These connections would be handy if you wanted to use this mixer in a studio setting. It defeats the purpose of a compact mixer of this type to lug around a bunch of ancillary equipment to live sound gigs, but if you're the type that likes to dream up uses for connections, patch cords, and signal paths, the 820 has most of the jacks that you'll need.

There is an auxiliary stereo send circuit (AUX 3-4) that kicks in when you push the mute button on any of the 6 input channels. You can send the signal from that channel out to another device, or, at the push of a button, patch it through the control room circuit and listen to one channel at a time on your headphones, through the monitors, or through the main speakers. This feature would appeal to the sound geek perhaps. We've done many gigs without this feature, and I can't imagine the other members of the band doing this.

The manual is fairly typical which means that it does not explain matters in much detail; rather it hints at how to do something that is very straight forward on other equipment. For example, to play a CD through the main speakers at intermission, you plug the output of the player into the 2T RTN inputs (another naming oddity). Then you have to patch that into the control room submix, then assign that to the main speakers (most units simply have a separate knob to control this input). This procedure makes what is a trivial task on other units more complicated, and it isn't explained well.

Others have complained about the blue power light being too bright. It is too bright, but we carry duct tape in our gig kit for many reasons. The unit is more complicated than it closest competitor, the Nady SPM-4250, but even our less technically savvy band members have grasped the operations of the 820.

There is an extra layer of nomenclature on the board that seems out of place in a live sound setting. The monitor path is also called AUX 1, the effect path is labeled AUX 2. You can send all four signal paths (main, monitor, effects, and aux) out to external devices, but the way they named it is unnecessarily confusing especially when setting up a live sound gig. Fortunately, Phonic made the knobs different colors, so if you can remember black for the monitors and blue for the effects send, you can ignore their signal path names.

So far, the 820 has been a good unit (only a few uses to date). If you've not used a board with gain controls before, you'll appreciate the control this gives you. There aren't too many compact powered mixers on the market right now that have the features of the Phonic, so this is a recommended buy.

Used this on a Gig a few days ago and I must say I was impressed that a box so inexpensive could have such a big sound. I like having the mini plug for a disc or mp3 player but you can't adjust the high, mid and low ranges on it unless you use an 1/4 plug adapter and use it on one of the lines. The only other problem I had was even with the effects turned off and all the way down there seemed to still be a slight bit of reverb on each line which is only noticeable when on a mic. Still the upsides FAR out weigh the minuses. The only other small powered mixer I can compare this to is the CRATE CMX42P and this blows the doors off of it.

I have had my Phonic setup for almost five years now. It has held up to my abuse, south Georgia heat, bars and weddings. Great little powered mixer, not as strong as some of the other items I have used, but plenty strong. I love the cutoff feature for the channels, the gain control, and its size. It is so compact on my table with my mics and laptop, I just would suggest having a little fan to make sure it stays cool.

I bought this for my home karaoke setup after a lot of research and am very happy with my purchase. It gets a moderate amount of regular use and I haven't had any problems with it. The effects are pretty decent and comparable to what I've used with more expensive sets. I've integrated it with my home stereo receiver and speakers and after adjusting the gain, effects levels, etc. I have a very professional sounding system with minimal expense.

The biggest compliment was during a party when I had a guest who is a sound technician at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. and he said my sound was excellent and was asking about the system components.

I can't rate it as a 5 Star simply because I haven't utilized all the features and inputs with the exception of plugging in a guitar and bass.

I didn't have good luck with my Phonic 820. I did two shows running music for a choral group, but on the third show two of the tracks played from my laptop plugged into the Phonic came out slurred and could not be used. Thru the laptop speakers the sound was just fine. Not I can't trust the unit any more.

I owned these headphones for one week, and ended up returning them. Initially, out of the box, I thought these were some of the best headphones that I had heard in the under-$500 category. The upper frequencies are "detailed" so if someone is looking for a warmer sound, this isn't the headphone for you. But, the bass is really good and, by that, I do mean that there is detail in the bass and it is not just a "one note" wonder with the bass. But, what really started to get to with this product (the K167 headphones) is that at the end of a week, the foam in the ear pads didn't seem to be strong, or thick enough to keep a good level of padding thickness. This resulted in my ears literally touching the baffle of the headphones. So, I tried a recommended "tweak" to use some tissues to slightly raise the pads for comfort, however, the bass really suffered. This told me that the design of the headphones was really dependent upon the thinner pads and the ears had to be closer to the baffle for better bass.

My background: 30+ years of audio experience, speaker and subwoofer building, as well as a headphone enthusiast who loves music and good headphones.

I purchased these in December 2012, and was immediately pleased with how they sounded. I bought them to use at work while sitting at my desk working on a computer, getting on average about 8-10 hours of use a week. In early February I noticed the plastic inside the headband (that houses the cord) started to crack at the expansion areas on both sides. I have a fairly normal sized head (I wear a 7 5/8 baseball cap), and am always very careful not to pull headphones farther than needed when putting them on and taking them off. I treated these (my first pair of 'expensive' headphones) very well. I continued to use them very infrequently for the next few weeks (1-2 hours a week at most), and now one of the sides has completely broken through and the other side is not far behind.

They are basically unwearable now because they don't feel stable on my head and the sound leaks from a lack of pressure, and I am afraid that the cord will be damaged with further use. For these not to even last 2 months with light/moderate use and very careful handling is absolutely unacceptable. I will be contacting Amazon/AKG for a refund/replacement soon, and will make updates if/when I get a response.

I was one of the very first adopters of the K167. When I compared it side by side to the Beyerdynamic DT770 AE, I found that the K167 just beat out the Beyers in the sound department in almost every aspect. However, despite the stellar sound at the price point, these units have far too many problems for me to be able to recommend them.

First, the earpads are firm and plush until you break them in after a week, whereupon they turn into millimeter-thick on-ear pancakes whenever these are worn.

Second, the cable is very irritating because it is coiled, heavy, and non-detachable. This is the most annoying part of these units, because the cable is unwieldy and always gets in your way due to the weight; the cable bounces like crazy when you walk and can pull things it is attached to right off the end of a surface if you are not careful.

Third, the plastic used to construct the unit is clearly inadequate for any rigorous use; it creaks and bends heavily even in the most normal of circumstances. These feel as though they are going to break whenever they are handled.

Fourth, the folding mechanism is a total joke. It is very clumsy, and there are no situations where it is practical or useful due to the shoddy overall build of the headphone putting the unit at risk of snapping should it be placed in a bag.

Finally, the headband adjustment system is extremely weak and prone to breakage. Within two months of normal usage, both sliders managed to bend and snap at the connection point between the headband and the cup. Keep in mind, I have a smaller head than average, so there is no excuse for this occurring.

Here is what needs to happen: AKG needs to scrap production of both the AKG K167 and K267 and merge the models into one unit. Use the detachable cable and metal parts of the K267, scrap the useless bass boost function and dopey folding mechanism, use the drivers and the headband shape (with better, more consistent padding to compensate for weight) of the K167, put denser and thicker padding in the earpads, put the price between the K167 and K267, and you have a winning product.

As it stands, the K167 is built like a paper tank and the K267 is too bulky and too expensive.

Want AKG Pro Audio K167 TIESTO DJ Headphones Discount?

The K167 are top contenders in the sub $500 price range, they have better bass impact and clarity then a D2000 and a variety of other headsets, even with tiesto branding they do not sound like DJ headphones, they are all-around solid AKG. The headphones are using fiberglass reinforced polymer, they are light & durable & the coiled cable is helpful in situations were distance is short (Attached to an E11, etc).

Super happy with the purchase, AKG has done a wonderful job.

Before buying these headphones I compared them to offerings from Grado (the Sr325i) and Sennheiser (HD595). As soon as I heard music through the Beyerdynamic Dt990's the other headphones suddenly seemed like a distant afterthought.

There are two versions of this headphone. The "Pro" model which is obviously marketed toward studio use and the "premium" model which is a slightly different design marketed for consumer use. Assuming you compare similar impedence models (i.e the 250 ohm model in both cases) then they are exactly the same headphone except for the pro having a coiled cable and slightly higher clamping force (and cosmetic differences).

For over $100 less, I went with the "Pro" model and I am truly impressed. Let me break it down:

Build Quality: 9.5/10

Before I knew these were made in Germany I suspected it. Even though the cups are plastic, it's a VERY rigid plastic that's carefully cut and molded in shape. You could probably stomp on these and they'd survive. There's a very substantial aluminum "fork" that connects the cups to a steel headband structure that allows for quite a bit of articulation so that you can obtain a precise fit. My only complaint is that the coiled cable is... a little annoying sometimes. It can catch on basically any angled surface with ease. In studio use I can imagine a coiled cable would be invaluable in preventing accidentally ripping a piece of equipment off the shelf so I won't penalize it too much.

Comfort: 9.5/10

These headphones are like having stuffed animals cuddling with your ears. They feature these really nice velour earpads that make you feel like you're wearing earmuffs. The reason that I took .5 off is because the "Pro" version has a really high clamping force. That is, initially you feel like they squeeze your head too much. Thankfully, this is very easily remedied by stretching them slightly with some books. Since the headband is high quality spring steel you can adapt the headphones perfectly to your head using this method. Oh... I should mention that if you live in a tropical climate or anywhere warm those velour earpads will make you sweat a ton. For most people I envision this isn't really a problem.

Sound Quality: 10/10

Let me start by saying that these are not really suited for "monitor" headphones. They do not have a perfectly flat response curve and do colour the sound a little bit. That said, for mastering headphones in a studio or for listening to music this "colour" lends music a wonderful vibrance that other headphones just don't do. They do have quite a bit of EXTREMELY detailed trebble and deliver a wonderful detailed but voluminous bass. With these every cymbal sounds crystalline, I can hear the rosin of a violin bow when it's playing, and every electronic synth is delivered with detail that not even the recording engineer thought was there.

This headphone NEEDS an amp to perform properly. They sell portable battery powered amps that drive them well, but in all honesty you want to listen to these in a quiet room for them to truly shine. Paired with a good amp you will be very pleasantly surprised.

Another note: Since these are open air headphones sound DOES leak out (and in). If you work in a cubicle/library or plan to use them outdoors you should instead look at closed-back headphones. If not, the open-air design allows for a very spacious soundstage that you'll grow to appreciate.

This is my video review on the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro (250 ohm) headphones. Although it is not conclusive in itself, it should help you to understand a little bit more about this model of headset. Personally I do not believe there is a better headphone on the market anywhere near this price range. I have worked in broadcasting for 30 years and have been using and have owned many pairs over the years so I would say I have a fairly good background for giving an honest opinion. I did not mention any other manufacturer's models because there are a lot of very good headphones on the market and comparing them is personal to how you like to listen to music and what sounds best to you. I chose not to downgrade another manufacturer just because I like these more.

To the best of my knowledge the DT990 Premium is the same headset except for the all aluminum body, straight cable and contoured foam case. There are some audio engineers that claim they have a different sound but without the electronic equipment to test them I do not think you will know the difference. If the extra money is not an issue with your budget I also recommend those. The brushed aluminum looks very sharp and a padded case would be a nice to have, especially if you travel with them.

If you have any questions please post them and I will reply. Comments are welcomed too. There is a slight chance I misspoke or said something wrong so if I did please let me know. I will add corrections in this space.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Hi all, Zombie_X from Head-Fi here with another review! This won't be as in depth as the T1's review but I will give you all the needed info.

The Beyerdynamic DT990 sound can be classified as being very treble oriented with slightly recessed mids (will get to that later) and having throbbing bass.

TREBLE:

I find the treble on the DT990/600Ohm to be slightly smoother than the 250Ohm model. In comparison the 250Ohm models treble is quite prominent with more of an edge to it. It's very extended and crystalline in it's presentation while also being for in your face than the DT880. Because of the enhanced treble response, songs may have a harsher sounding treble with emphasis on the S and T sounds. It is still quite extended like the previous model.

MIDRANGE:

The DT990 has a more shallow sounding midrange in comparison to the DT880, but in fact the elevated treble/bass makes it sound thinner. It's still the great midrange that the DT880 had though it's a bit more detailed and perhaps a tiny bit more resolving. Because of the added treble it does indeed make the mids seem pulled back. In my eyes the DT880's sound more forward and more lifelike.

BASS:

The bass is almost like that of the DT880 but it looses it's texture and gains more impact and weight. The added impact is not great but it's enough to give a satisfying thump. I also found it's bass to extend deeper than that of the previous model and it's more controlled. The bass is a tiny tiny bit slower, but barely noticeable.

SOUNDSTAGE:

The soundstage is is wider than the DT880's and offers more layering and separation. It's still a very precise sounding soundstage that is still airy and open. It's a definite improvement in my opinion.

Sound:

I bought these headphones when looking for an excellent headphones for hearing music. I first tried the DT 880 which provided very poor basses, and really disappointed me. I then gave the DT 990 a try and was shocked by their sound. The DT 990 provides a rich and engaging experience like I never had with any headphones. To be fair, I never owned a professional grade headphones like the DT 990, but I'm listening to music at least 5 hours a day. The DT 990 makes all my familiar tracks sound amazing. It gives me the goose bumps every time! The DT 990 throws you right into the track you're listening and lets you hear all the nuances you never noticed before. If you like strong basses and feeling "inside" your music, these are the headphones for you.

Comfort:

The DT 990 are super comfortable. I can wear them for hours without feeling them.

Isolation:

As expected from their open design, the DT 990 doesn't isolate you from the environment that much. At high volume people around you can hear what you're listening to. At low-medium volume you can usually hear people talking around you. On the other hand, this design gives the music a very nice effect.

Volume:

For those of you worried about amplifiers and such, I'm using my DT 990 with my MacBook Pro, iPhone and iPad without any issues. The max volume is usually high enough for hurting my ears. If you already got an amplifier, and you'll be using only it to listen, you may be better off with the 250 OHM or 600 OHM versions.

Summery:

Again, if you love to feel surrounded by your music and love strong basses these are the earphones for you. They are super comfort and have an amazing sound.

Want Beyerdynamic AMS-DT-990-Pro-250 Professional Acoustically Open Headphones for Monitoring and Studio Discount?

First off, these aren't nearly as hard to drive as you'd assume from their impedance. I was able to get decent volume out of everything I connected it to form a proper desktop amp, to straight out of the onboard sound from my netbook. They are of course, not being driven properly from something without an adequate voltage swing, but neither are they useless without a beefy amp.

On to the meat of the review. "How do they sound," I hear you asking. In one word, bright, or in two, very bright. Their metaphorical albedo is off the charts. The highs are quite pronounced, but in a very smooth and simultaneously crisp manner. Hardly peaky at all, without transient spikes leaving you constantly fiddling with the volume. On the opposite end of the spectrum, the bass is simply amazing for an open headphone. Its deep, plentiful, and tightly controlled, with the kind of snap you'd expect from a small sealed subwoofer. It doesn't have the same quantity, but the quality is similar. I'd still characterize them as bright because the treble substantially exceeds the bass. The mids are recessed in the sense that they are softer than the ends of the spectrum, but they are very clear and not muddied by the bass at all. At least at moderate volumes. At higher volumes however they seem to become even more recessed, and at extreme volumes it begins to sound like someone left the midrange driver out of a 3-way speaker. However, if you value your hearing this shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I think their biggest plus is their soundstaging. Especially when combined with positional audio. An HTRF fooled me into believing my pet parrot, who was behind me, had chirped when it was actually just the soundtrack to the show I was watching. I don't play FPSs very often anymore, but they'd be great for the task. If you turned down the BGM a little, the deep bass and crisp highs will provide satisfying blasts, booms, and gunshots. If you're not a treble head though, it may be to bright for the BGM in most movies.

I'm not a treble head however, so I decided to return mine after a week of evaluation and more than 100 hours of burn in. I couldn't listen to them for more than an hour without the treble grating on me, and I can't justify keeping a separate can just for gaming, since I don't do as much of it as I used to.If you are looking for a can just for gaming then this probably deserves to be on your short list. For music or movies? I'd say only if you are a serious treble head. The DT990s aren't for me, but they may be just right for you.

I love my yurbuds, they fit great, don't hurt my ears and don't pull or fall out all the time. The only thing I would like to see is a bit longer cord, it is normal, I just like a little more cord for adaptability. I would also like the controls on cord to be volume control, mine changes the phones source (music to phone, etc.). Maybe it's a phone program problem not sure

You are actually paying for the silicone wraps around the earpieces. The silicone pieces helps lock everything in place but they also make earpieces larger, irritating my ears after a while. Mic button which also fast forwards and rewinds songs works well. Cables are easy to tangle.

To begin with, Let's just say that you won't ever regret getting yourself one of these bad boys, they are simply outstanding, from the incredible comfort level to the impossibly amazing sound quality, I will cover the main features in this review:

Lets start with the packaging:

-Straightforward packaging.

-Includes a convenient carrying pouch made from a very high quality material (Soft and durable), and also comes with a 6.35 mm (1/4 in) stereo jack adapter pre-installed to the headphones, which you can unscrew to reveal the 3.5 mm headphone jack underneath.

The Actual Headphones:

1-Durability:

I have been using these headphones for over 2 months now, and I have to tell you that these things are solid, I dropped them several times and got away with it, they didn't break or anything. Very durable. And the White Color looks amazing on them, no stains so far. (See update)

2-Comfort:

The cups are made from a very soft material that covers your whole ear, very comfortable to the ear, even after long periods, though you might have sweaty ears after extremely long sessions (6 hours or more). I also want to mention that you may feel discomforted by the headphones the first time you use them (Which happened to me), and I think it happened because they were still fresh and they didn't soften up yet, but after you use them several times, your head will adjust to them and they will no longer hurt. Also, they are very adjustable; the swiveling cup makes it very easy for any kind of head to fit these headphones. Overall, they provide nice fit to everyone.

3-Sound quality:

I can't give these headphones enough justice just by a literal review; you have to hear them to understand how amazing they are. I'm no expert in sound ranges (Highs, Lows, Etc.), but I can say that the bass on these is very, very deep; every note is separate from the other providing unbelievable sound. And they are actually closed-back headphones, meaning that they will block some of the outside noise and provide sealed and polished sound (I would say that they block about 9% of the outside noise), and probably the best thing about these headphones is that the leak no sound at all, I do adjust the volume such that it's mostly on the 80% mark and there is no sound leakage whatsoever, even if I crank up the volume to 100%, the sound leakage is nearly nothing and is very minimal (One of the benefits of the closed-back structure). I primarily use these for Music, and they sound fabulous on any genre, vocals are clear, the beats pop out, and everything is very well balanced.

Still looking for amazing headphones? Well, You should probably stop.

UPDATE (After 6 Months of Usage):

I started noticing a gradual increase in sound leakage after continuous use. I really don't know what caused this but, as long as you don't go too far on the volume. You should be ok. And as a matter of fact, Apple's own bundled EarPods still leak much more sound than these.

Also, stains should form sooner or later on anything white. And it's fairly easy to clean them, as long as you don't let the dirt accumulate on the headphones.

Everything else is still perfect. Sound reproduction has never been better actually. It's almost as if it got better! I don't know if it's actually real or it's just a placebo effect. Nevertheless. This review will still be a perfect five in my opinion.

I've wanted these headphones for quite some time now, and back in January, I learned the white version would be released some time in March. It was definitely worth the wait, in my opinion. These are my first pair of studio headphones, but I can tell why they are some of the most popular and most frequently recommended headphones out there. It took about 30 hours of burn-in, but I can finally give a final review.

Lows: the lows are punchy, and these are perfect for people looking for some true bass. These headphones will rattle your head when needed, but they also hold back where bass isn't the main part of the music.

Mids: the mids are somewhat recessed due to the heaviness of the lows, but they are still some of the best in headphones in this price range. The only headphone that is truly better here is the Shure SRH-840.

Highs: Very crisp and clear. They aren't extremely bright like the 840s, but that's actually what I love about these cans. I'm not crazy about having piercing highs. These offer the perfect amount, especially for vocals and rock music.

Overall, the M50s are a great bargain, especially at this price point. They offer a warm sound for bass lovers, but still have some of the best mids and highs out there. Any type of genre sounds great: Hip/Hop, rap, rock, classical, pop, or country. For anyone who wants to get the most out of their music, or if you want to get started in the audiofile community, these are perfect. Plus, they look and SOUND 10x better than any pair of Beats by Dr. Dre headphones.

I had ordered these for a friend a while back, but never had the opportunity to actually use them. I've been through the whole range of Beats, selling and buying them (including the 'limited edition' Detox) and i wasn't happy with any of them.

I did purchase the Bose® QuietComfort® 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® Headphones before last summer to use on the plane and i was really impressed with noise canceling that they provided. However, in terms of sound quality, they weren't the best you can get out there for the price, but it doesn't stop me from using them from time to time. I recently built a home studio and looked at many monitoring headphones and the Audio Technica's appealed to me the most. I decided to wait until the white version came out as since the release of the white iPad 2, I've just loved white gadgets! These are the best headphones in terms of sound clarity. When listening to Hip-Hop or Rap, i can get a true bass sound and when listening to Classical Music, I can hear even the small instruments that are used. Definitely has a great frequency range and would recommend it to anyone. I did feel that they are a bit tight when put on my head as they pushed my cheeks a bit, but that didn't let me down and still enjoy using them. Only downside compared to the Bose or Beats is that the audio cable is not detachable which means if the cables cut, it is practically useless. Build quality was great and overall enjoying it.

I got these about a week ago and so far I've had 3 people at my university ask me how I like my Beats...I hate people sometimes. No, these are infinitely better than the Beats and they are half the price. Besides the obvious sound difference which you can read about in every other review, these are just a solid build. They are are durable, have swivel functionality for storage and comfort, have full ear coverage for noise isolation and comfort, have a coiled cable, look amazing in white, and again every inch shows a quality and durability. There is nothing to criticize with these headphones. They are in every sense perfect.

PSMy cousin owns the black pair which he bought around a year ago and it seems they have upgraded the leathery spongy material that seals around your ears. I'm not sure if it's just the newer white pairs or all recently made pairs, but we both agreed there is slightly more cushion and the upgraded material is slightly more plush in my white pair.

I got these finally because they were in white (so sick of black electronics)...and it was DEFINITELY worth the wait. I haven't used these on anything other than my ipod touch, but they sound AMAZING after a bit of burn-in (It doesn't sound horrible when you first start them out but they definitely have a warmer feeling after about 15 hours or so). They are very durable, and allow for very big domes or oddshaped domes (I wear a 7 3/4" hat and it could go much much larger without any problem. The white is sweet, I'm a bit worried that the white may show dirt more..but whatever, thats what you get when you buy something super stylish. The EQ is very flat on these, so it works for ALL types of music...if you want to mimic something like beats audio, do it with a Fiio E6 amp (any product line by Fiio will work) and you can choose the high bass setting. With an amp, these have so much bass, hat they actually rattle some, which is just CRAZY loud...it can actually cause a bit of headshaking, seriously (lol). The coiled cord is super long (almost too long, but I can't hold that against them)..and the cable is super high quality...I doubt you could ever break it. The only thing i wish was different was that the cable could be unplugged at the headphones themselves, and it had an audio port on left and right ear cups (like the Beats).. but this way is probably more durable anyways.

You want to buy these headphones if:

1) Your budget is less than $300

2) You want something that looks good, and are sick of boring black headphones (and were considering Beats based on looks).

3) Want something with a flatter EQ that sounds good for all types of music, and doesn't manufacture bass when it isn't present in the track itself.

4) Will buy a small Fiio Amp with these to drive them (you really need an amp to get the full effect out of these, or any mid to high range headphones).

Please don't even consider buying Beats by Dre or the Souls or the Fifty's WITHOUT checking these out first....I'm telling you, they sound better (I mean way better), look almost as good, and are more durable with more range for bigger/weird shaped heads!

My parents gave me this guitar for christmas, and I've had this guitar for about 5 months now,and I have loved and hated some things about the guitar. let's start with the short list, the hated.

Hated: The strap is garbage, The wammy bar causes the guitar to go insanely out of tune, for about 2 weeks the frets cut your hands to shreds, When using one pickup, the amp makes a really annoying buzzing sound, so use the second to bottom or top setting on the pickup selector switch. The guitar does also go out of tune fairly easy by itself.

Now onto the loved: EXTREMELY STURDY AND STRONG. My guitar was dropped by one of my friends onto a concrete floor and the only damage done was a small chip in the finish by the neck. Amp is fantastic for it's size. Loud enough to fill a gymnasium full of screaming students. The tuner is fantastic, and the picks are incredibly strong. Strings sound good and are strong. Extra strings are a good bonus, just make sure you put them on right.

Overall a great guitar package for about $200, I'd recommend to any beginning guitarist. With a name like Fender, you can't go wrong!

I got this kit for my birthday because I want to learn guitar. It is totally ridiculous to invest much more than about $200 at the start of a new hobby. At the beginner level, you have no idea what you need, what you want, whether your even going to stick with it, etc. Luckily, Fender is selling this little gem.

I'm not going to lie--in this $200 package, you will not get a $700 guitar with a $150 amp and a Monster cable. What you do get is a guitar that sounds good and that you can learn on, an amp that makes your practice audible, and a DVD that... well, sucks. The DVD is really bad.

I highly recommend this package for the beginner.

(As for the DVD sucking--it says it's for beginners, but it moves much too fast. Get a book and teach yourself or, better yet, get lessons. Don't count on the DVD.)

I got this for my fifteen yo son (aka "Even After Dinner, Giant Boys Eat"). (Okay, not because I was clever enough to think of it ahead of time, but because I stumbled onto one of Amazon's "lightning deals" at holiday time.) Perfect.

As you suspect from reading the description, this package has everything you need, which was really a blessing from my perspective. As others have suggested, we'll gradually replace things as he wants... strings, of course, the strap, maybe some new picks. I didn't realize there was even a tuner in the set, which is great.

One thing extra I feel we immediately need is a stand for the guitar. This is partly because things can get a little rambunctious in our house (e.g., the dog and the boy chasing each other around) and I want the guitar to be safe. I also don't really want him to put it away; I'd like to leave it out in the living room so that he's more inclined to pick it up and play.

I like the DVD, though I'm writing this just as soon as the gift has been opened, so we've only just started. To me, the lessons seem good, though my son is a trumpet player and played piano when young (so he knows musical things) and I've also played instruments (including acoustic guitar) before. We are far from being musicians, but it's not totally new to us, either. You're going to have to replay them a few times to get it; that's part of the learning.

Tips for beginners:

1. Tune your guitar to the DVD initially and don't mess with the electronic tuner. Everything will sound wrong if you're not tuned the same as the DVD guy, but trying to play along with him. Also, you should learn to tune your guitar to the low E string anyway (as he teaches on the DVD).

2. Make sure your low E and high E are actually the same note after you think you're done tuning (but yeah, in different octaves). My son thought he was tuned, but this test didn't pass so we adjusted.

3. Like everything else, you're learning to tune. But if you don't get this reasonably right, when you go on to chords, they'll sound like cr*p.

4. The first chord you're shown is a minor chord. (I question this choice, but there you have it.) This chord might not sound right to you anyway.

5. I think one strategy is to plow ahead till you get to an easier chord to listen to, maybe the regular E or the A. And then you might want to fiddle around a little bit between adjusting the tuning and trying the chord till the chord sounds right.

6. Note that you can find chord charts online for the "open chords", such as the one at Guitar for Beginners that I just found. Those first five chords should sound right if you're properly tuned (remember not to play all the strings for some of the chords).

7. You should maybe do just a little bit each day at the start (15 minutes or so) till your fingers build up calluses. This can also help pace the frustration factor of getting to the point of those first few chords.

8. Once you get those first few chords, you're on your way! Then it's just practice, practice, practice.

p.s. Some musical friends have confirmed that this is an excellent guitar for a beginner. One points out that what you lose in this line (as compared to other Fenders) is the quality control. This was an interesting observation for me -it's true of so many products, but I didn't apply it here. I think this might explain some of the variation in the reviews. Remember that you're buying from Amazon, and if you notice anything wrong, just Send It Back.

Want Fender Starcaster Strat Pack Electric Guitar with Amp and Accessories (Black) Discount?

Ok, first off, even if you are a beginner, I do not recommend this guitar.

Why?

One, this guitar has highly incremental buzz. Most people will tell you when you ask, that this is because of the amp, but this is because this is essentially quite cheaply constructed, and the parts aren't as good as a lot of others. The strings are too close to the fret, and this is one of the reasons.

Two, cheap materials, as I stated, are troublesome. After owning the guitar for one week, and having to take out and screw in the whammy bar, the screw part of it got stuck in the hole. Not shortly after that, we returned the guitar.

Three, the frets. Many people stated this, and this is a very big problem for anyone. The frets are NOT smooth at ALL and after just one week of use I had scars and a ripped up palm on my hand.

But if you want a good guitar in this price range, for beginners, here's what I recommend. Get a Fender Squier. At most sites, the base Fender Squier costs $119. About $90 less than this does here, and it has much smoother fret board, but it still has some of the buzz found in this guitar. I also recommend a beginner Epiphone Les Paul or SG.

Got this guitar package for Christmas (in midnight blue, but oh well), and I am liking this a lot. As other reviewers have stated, you are not getting a $300 guitar and a $100 amp you are getting a cheapo beginner's guitar with a wimpy amp.

THAT BEING SAID, it is worth much more than the measly $200 you spend! This is a GREAT package to get for a beginner to the electric guitar. The guitar is sturdy enough to handle some rough playing, and it seems to stay in tune somewhat well. The amp, while not loud or sturdy enough to use in a concert, is fun to mess around with and start experimenting with distortion, etc. I'm sure the picks are fine I prefer hard picks, so I didn't even look at the ones in the package. I also didn't look at the DVD included, having known how to play acoustic for a few years prior.

The bad news: The strings died very quickly for me (both the already string ones and the replacements included). The tuner is finicky at best. The amp will die if you crank the volume and blast away for very long. The strap comes off if you glance at it.

However, for a beginner, this package is perfect. Once you get some practice and feel like moving on, you can get a new tuner, a new amp, and even a new guitar one at a time at your leisure.

TL;DR: This is a great deal for a beginner, well worth the $200.
