I have been looking for a decent headphone amplifier. Something to practice with while watching tv or that won't bother my wife while she's watching tv. Actually I've gotten a couple different brands, then I tried one of the Vox Amplug (the "metal" one). It has a great tone, only one, but it's a great one! Lol! Anyway, I was hoping this would be even easier and might have a little more range. Sadly it is much more like other headphone amps, sterile, generic tone. It may have something to do with the headphones themselves, since I use a good quality set of earbuds with the Amplug. These have sat in my cupboard since i got them.

After readying a lot of mixed reviews on this product, I decided to give them a shot anyways, and I can honestly say they are just awesome. I played my Silvertone Session Master (Dimebucker Bridge, EMG H4A Neck) and it sounded beautiful, it really blew me away after reading people saying that the tone was generic and sterile I just felt like they where complete tone snobs. Then I plugged in my baby Dean Dime from Hell ML(crappy stock pickups) and it sounded god awful fizzy ugly and it just plain hurt. I LOVE the headphones themselves though very comfortable and very nice sounding defiantly worth 100 bucks. Plus it can get some neat tones out of these things, to a clean crunchy plexi sound to a somewhat high gain Judas Priest, also the louder you have them the better it sounds of course, the bass response comes out way better when turned up. Im in love, can take my guitar anywhere and can practice anywhere now. Would buy em again.

I'd happily lay out another $100 for these if they had workable slider controls on them. Pokey little dial wheels with microscopic labels are impossible to manage on your head. Otherwise, they're freakin' awesome; great sound.

I really like my VOX AmphoneLead. The effects are cool, the headphone sound quality is very good. The AMPHONES are extremely useful when you are hit with the sudden urge to jam or just practice late at night. I'm sure my family and neighbors are grateful.

PROS: nice sound quality, easy to use-just plug directly into your guitar jack, multiple amp effects.

CONS: controls are somewhat annoying to access, especially if you are tweaking the effects to your liking. I suggest writing down settings that work for you so that you can set them up faster should you make changes. The headphones are somewhat delicate and use cheap plastic, but if you are careful you should not have any problems.

Overall, they serve their purpose by providing a private environment in which to practice. I think the concept is a great idea.

I love these amp headphones. I live in a townhouse and have a newborn so I can't turn up my amps and jam. With work, a long commute and baby, the only time I have to play is late at night. I had been keeping my noise to myself by plugging headphones into an old Behringer V-amp. When it is late at night that rig could be too complicated to set up with too many wires and cords laying around. The Vox Amphone Lead sounds just as good as the setup I was using but eliminates all the cords except the output cable. The headphones are battery powered so you are not tied down to one location. You are free to play anywhere you please. You can even use the headphones for your phone or MP3 player.

My only complaint is that they don't feel very durable. The Vox Amphones are very light weight, which is a good feeling sitting on my head, but make feel like they are overly delicate. Overall, these are a great sounding product at a good price. The Vox Amphones lived up to my expecations.

I ordered this cable as an accessory for my Shure SRH840 which comes with the coiled cables. The sound quality of this cable and the coiled cables are the same, there is no difference. For $20, I expected a some what better quality cable, these are cheaply made, plasticky OEM cables and is of 2.5 metres long. If only the SRH840 dint come with a bayonet clip mechanism, I would have gone for a higher quality 3rd party cable.

Oxygen Free Copper is commonly found in headphone cables today, so it's no big deal. I tried to mount a high-end plug on the HPASCA2 and found that this cable has only one VERY thin "hot" wire per channel. It's the cheapest cable I've ever seen on any headphones, including those much less expensive than the SRH1440/1840.

Shure should offer free of charge to every purchaser of the SRH1440/1840 a decent replacement cable. Paying more than $10.00 for this is a ripoff.

Depending on how you use your headphones, with the coiled cord (depending on what sound source you are using) will dictate whether you need that one or the straight cord (which is much more practical and much longer). Whoever manufactures the cords definitely does not spend more than a couple of dollars to make both. Therefore, I suggest they include both cords in the original purchase of the headphones that way we as consumers do not have to purchase an additional cord at sixteen dollars via Amazon. Now, most will read this and obviously say the manufacturer does this purposely to make the extra fifteen bucks for the cord they know we need. I agree and would simply suggest they add a couple dollars to the price of the original sale of the headphones and place both cords in the box with the purchase of headphones. I feel as though I am being ripped off!!!

For those Shure headphones that are only shipping with the coiled cable (e.g., SRH-840), this is the straight version of that same cable. That's it. It is identical in all other respects, from the thickness (and presumably the wire gauge) to the flexibility to the bayonet twist-lock connector to the "gold" plating. It is nice that it is a replaceable item, and it's also nice that it's now coming standard with the SRH-940, in addition to the coiled cable. It doesn't put a smaller version of Yo-Yo Ma playing cello in between my ears, it doesn't remove sibilance or add air or wash the dishes. What it does do is provide a secure connection and give me a little more maneuverability as compared to the coiled cable, at the expense of having to mind the extra effective length. While full retail is a bit much for an OEM replacement that probably costs a hundredth of this to manufacture (especially considering where it's made), it does provide a convenient option at the typical-for-Amazon discounted "street price."

I found one of these at a local pawn shop a few days ago for $150.00 .... a good friend of mine has an Orange rig and highly recommends the brand , so I briefly tried it out using the crappy bass the pawn shop had hanging on the wall...I was impressed with how loud it sounded....so I bit. Took it home and played my Rickenbacker 4001v63 (single coil pickups) through it and MAN did it sound good!! Very crisp and punchy.... then used it this morning as a monitor and through our churches sound system....same thing! I only had it turned up to "5" and the gain up around "3" very crisp and clear....I was amazed at this little amp! .... plus , it looks cool with the orange covering ;^)

Perfect little amp for small to medium sized church venue or similar setting. We have drums, guitars and keyboards and 250 people singing and this thing had a presence unlike I've heard with any other similar sized practice type amps....

If this were stolen from me, I would buy another at RETAIL price!

I love this amp, but I am a fairly new bass player. My husband tells me the speaker could be a better quality... so we're thinking of putting a Tone Tubby in it. Other than that, I am a happy customer and have gotten lots of compliments on this amp.

If you're looking for something with a bit of power to it but you're NOT willing to invest in a full-on head-and-cabinet rig typically only needed for touring, this is pretty much the middle ground between the best practice amps and the somewhat lower end of gigging amps. It has incredible "boom" to it I keep my gain on 3 and my volume less than 1 during practice and it still packs serious punch on those low settings with a deep, strong tone. VERY well-suited to high-gain tones and distortion, but also very good for punchy clean tones. It can certainly go loud enough to compete with drums, so it might suit you for small gigs, though of course your mileage may vary.

Additional notes: the orange color stands out and looks cool and the amp itself is surprisingly light it weighs less than my 35 W pignose combo amp.

Sounds great, gain control doesn't have the range I'd like to see. Otherwise sounds great, fit and finish is as good as any I've seen. Also makes a good sounding clean., bluesy guitar amp, though this is not the designed use.

Overall it is pretty impressive for a low budget studio. Here's some pros and cons:

Pros

comes with PodFarm software (big variety of effects and amp models)

comes with RiffWorks (drum machine and recorder)

comes with some other software too ;)

lets you get idea of how a wide variety of effects sounds

Cons

can be a little tricky to set up and register

tech support is a little weak (they incorrectly say it replaces your soundcard)

the quality of the effects is about an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10 (clean sounds are great, but distortions and delays sound cheap)

Notes: it may replace your sound card, but only if you set it up that way. I think it's bad for the tech support people to use that phrase, because it does NOT have to replace it. For example, on my BGears Enspirer (the setup was a bit tricky) but you actually can hear sound from computer speakers and the signal out at the same time. In fact, thats how you use RiffWorks! I just think their tech support forum is geared towards the most common hardware, but it's wrong to claim "the UX1 replaces your sound card".

Also, about the effects, any of the clean effects sound pretty good. But with any heavy distortion it gets muddy and just doesn't sound quite like a Marshall. ;) And with the digital delay effects, they are pretty cheap really, eventhough they look fancy. It's easy to muddy them up when you mix much in. Even on a high end PC, I give the clean effects a 9 out of 10. The distortion is about a 7/10, and delay is about 6/10. Overall it's pretty fun though (esp for the price!), but it just not sound the same as high end stuff. ;)

This interface was a great purchase. Vocals are loud, clean right from the getgo, even on a decent mic. It seems to be made kind of cheap (plastic knobs and a very light, weak encasement) but that doesn't matter, it works great. The software comes with a plethora of cabinets/effects/ presets for the unit, which I use for my bass. For this price this unit is a great deal. Following the instructions, I had this up and running within Sonar within 5 minutes. When this is plugged into your computer, it becomes the output for your sound by default. Obviously, you'll need a set of headphones or a monitor if you want to hear it (the POD has inputs for this). Just unplug the POD when done and your standard sound card takes back over. If you are using just a standard sound card to do recordings, you definitely need to get this or something similar.

Also, this is Vista 32/64 compatible (I'm using it on 64bit with no probs).

This is one of the best investments I have ever made. I have owned this for quite some time now and this unit is awesome. The sounds that come out of it are the best I have ever heard and for the cost you can't beat it. It's like having thousands of dollars of the best equipment at your disposal at any time you need it. I haven't had any issues with it at all, it has worked awesome!!

I needed a device to allow me to continue working at home while most of my "studio" was being used somewhere else. This little beauty was offered to me by the local guy and I thought, OK, I'll give it a go. Well, it solved a couple of mind-blocks I'd been having because it made me work a little differently. And on top of that it saved me from losing work at home. It sounds great, it loaded easily and it's fun to use. It doesn't have phantom power but that's not the end of the world I found. I recommended it to a good friend and he was glad I did!!!

I had a Stanton 2000 for several years, but looked to expand just to upgrade, though the Stanton is still doing the job. I was looking for a dj headphones that gives lots of volume during loud dj gigs, but also usable on my ipod during flights etc. The HDJ 500 turned out the best for this use. It has a great sound, with obviously some added bass, but for techno music this is great. Really happy with my buy and i am not easily satisfied. Only minor point is that it is not fold-able and therefore I think i think it might break or be damaged faster on the road being in dj bags etc.....

These headphones run with the Audio Technica earsuits, the Sennheiser hd-25 mk2s and the rest of the portable, on ear, audiophile grade headphones. The quality is absolutely first rate, with the headphones being re enforced with magnesium, the earcups being covered in real leather and featuring 2 cables, 1 coiled and 1 short for listening off an ipod. Probably my favorite closed cans for the money, the bass is a tad muddy and the mids are a bit recessed but for listening to urban and bass heavy music, they are fine. Sweet looks, quality and sound for only 100 dollars. I have the Grado sr60s, Sony mdr-v6 , maudio ie-10s,sennheiser hd280 pros, Audio Technica ath-900xs and the Denon ah-d2000s and akg k77s and these are currently my favorite, go to cans. The sound is potent even running off an iphone as well.

These headphones looked like a great option for my djing, but using them proved to be another situation.

I can say hands down these are the most uncomfortable things I have ever put on my head. Hard, Rigid, ear pads are too small, sound was a huge letdown as well. I might be spoiled with my bose headphones, but I wouldn't even use these for more then 5 minutes because they HURT! Terrible tension and way too tight, even with every adjustment. I really wanted to like them, total let down :/

The Sennheiser HD 205 is great value for money. The design is not only comfortable, but takes out a lot of ambient noise. This headphone does not have active noise reduction but does a good job with its closed design headphone.

The right-side is able to swivel backwards, so you can answer a phone call and not need to remove the whole headphone. This swivel was designed for DJ's to do sound mixing, but works well for other purposes as well.

I also like its strong bass and great clarity, where I could hear sounds in music that I did not hear before. This headphones not only works well for music, but does great with your favourite action movie. You will hear how close the sound is, and have bullets whizzing past you and swords meeting like they are just around you.

While there are unquestionably better-sounding headphones available, you'd be very challenged to find something better-sounding at this price point. Other pluses include deep, powerful bass response without being "boomy," the closed-back earcups provide excellent isolation & makes the HD205 a good choice for use in noisy environments or when others around you might be disturbed when you crank the volume, & the 32-ohm, highly efficient drivers make this a good match for iPods & other portable music players lets you play 'em loud, while still being gentle on the battery! I have a moderately large head (Size 7 1/2) so I initially found them too tight, as some other reviewers have mentioned. Sennheiser tech support suggested gently stretching the headband by placing them over something slightly larger than my head (sofa arm, computer tower, etc.) and leaving overnight. That did the trick for me, although I needed to repeat the procedure once more, about a week later.

Read Best Reviews of Sennheiser HD 205 Studio Monitor DJ Headphones w/ Swivel Ear Cup (Old Version) Here

They are adequate. Nothing great, I wasnt blown away so to speak.

About the headphones being too small, hmm dunno, I found them adequate, yes they are tight, but I having them looser would make them constantly slip from the head.

Pros:

1. Good ambient sound blocking. If you wear them without any music playing, it feels as if you have cotton stuffed in ur ears.

2. Cheap

3. Long cord. Nice carry pouch.

4. solid contruction.

5. Nice crisp sound output.

Cons:

1. The hollow spot at the center of the ear cup that is supposed to cover ur ear is small, about 1 1/2 inch by 3/4th inch. This puts some pressure on ur outer ear as the headphones fit quite snuggly. Extended use causes a bit of discomfirt.

2. Sound is a bit flat for me. the bass wasnt deep and the trebles werent sharp enough. I need to play around with the equalizer to see if I can fix this.

Want Sennheiser HD 205 Studio Monitor DJ Headphones w/ Swivel Ear Cup (Old Version) Discount?

I've just purchased a pair of these and have been using them for about a week now. I use them for mixing and mastering music in my studio. The sound quality is great; very clear and good frequency response. The 1/4" adapter screws into the 1/8" plug which is fantastic for what I'm doing. (I'm a little rough with cords when I'm working) They are a bit tight on the head and a bit small in the ears. I don't have a very large head or ears, so it doesn't bother me at all. In fact, it's nice to have them a bit tighter so I can thrash about and they won't fly off my head easily. I was a bit concerned about my ears hurting from the small cups, but I have not experienced any pain yet and I generally spend anywhere between 2 to 8 hours with them on. All in all, these are a fantastic deal for the price, but I wouldn't buy them if you've got yourself a decently-sized to a large head. Small heads only.

Let me start off by saying that you should come to a GRIP with what these headphones are. They are intended for studio monitoring and DJ mixing. THESE ARE NOT SUPER BOOTY SMACKING BASS. You won't find "monitors" that are really meant for that. Monitor/DJ Headphones are for the purpose of hearing every single "detail." You cannot achieve this with heavy bass taking over sound that you would otherwise mix. So the reviews on "where is the bass" I will gladly tell you its there. BUT you don't get it just with plain headphones. You have to boost the bass if want you want is some good heavy bass. Now sound quality is unreal. I heard pieces in songs I had never heard before, and with these I was able to fix a mix of mine that I had been troubled with for weeks now. At the time making them I was using Apple Ipod headphones and wouldn't you know they have some heavier bass than normal. If you are looking for hard hitting bass, these are not for you. Any good or decent monitor/dj headphones will not fulfill this. Now onto the tight fitting. The only backdrop is its tight fitting on the head. But this is more of an up than down. Say your mixing, its midnight in the club, we all know how loud it gets around that time. That is what the tight fitting is for. With it tight onto your skull you won't have an issue hearing what it is you need to hear. Mixing has been a joy with these with detail, super clarity, and PLENTY of bass. For the price they cannot be beaten and personally I don't see the point in buying 200 dollar headphones at the moment. If you got a big head then stretching them out over time will suffice which I found I was able to do within a few hours. Great headphones, good for the use, and plenty of sound.

I don't know much about amps, this is the only one i've owned so far. The Silvertone Smart IIIs came with my Silvertone guitar. With these, I learned to play and started writing and recording songs, so i have a strong connection to it. At some point I need to move up to an amp with more power, but so far this amp has been so good to me. Just crank up the overdrive on it and rock, great sound, great for learning and developing your own style of rock, metal or whatever. I really do love this bad boy.

These are by far my favorite headphones for studio work. Very comfortable, great low end & wonderful isolation. No bleeding from click tracks into you over head mics.

I recently accidentally (which is actually French for "moronically") wrecked a +10-year-old pair of Sony -V900's. I always liked the -V900's sound, but I was never happy with their external sound isolation, and was annoyed by the constant replacing of the ever-deteriorating ear pieces. So, since I was faced with replacing them, after some research, I went with the DT770M's.

The isolation is indeed fabulous. I can hear virtually nothing of the external world. Audio-wise, however, I don't like these as much as the Sony's. The -V900's just had a more rich tone, where the -770's just sound flat to me.

The Sony's were also more comfortable, but that is probably a compromise for the -770's superior isolation.

I also own a pair of Sennheiser HD590's, but those can only be used in an environment where there is absolutely no external sound. They are great-sounding, though, as good or better than the Sony's.

There are times when I need the absolute isolation, so the -770's are perfect for that. But, I would never recommend them for critical listening enjoyment.

Hello Amazon!

I have had the Beyerdynamic DT 770 M headphones for about 3 months now, and I have had a chance to use them while both drumming and listening to music from my iPod.

Starting off with Build Quality:

The headband is all metal wrapped by black pleather. Cushioning is soft and comfortable, however the material is somewhat thin. Fortunately the pleather wrapping is removable and can be easily replaced. Headphone size is easily adjustable and can fit any size head. Clamping pressure is strong but necessary for isolating noise. One note on size; these headphones are not collapsable, however they fit well in the included zippered carrying case. The cones are attached by strong metal forks extending from the headband and the cones are made of hard plastic. The DT 770 M's are built to last. The cord has ample length and can fit a screwable sound board adapter. An inline volume slider on the cord is a nice touch to allow on-the-fly volume adjustment.

Sound Quality:

This is really the only aspect of the DT 770 M's that I was disappointed about. The mids and treble are there, but the bass is almost non-existant. It is easily understandable why this would be, since there is no cone ventilation to allow the drivers to move. This is not a big issue though, since as a drummer, all you really need to hear is the accompanying band. Too much bass in these headphones would make it difficult to discern what you are playing on the drumset, and what the band is playing. In all reality, I love these headphones for their isolation, not their sound quality.

Isolation:

The real purpose behind Beyerdynamic producing these headphones. Beyerdynamic has done a masterful job in striking a balance in noise isolation that is perfect for a drummer. When drumming, I can easily hear what I am playing, without having to turn up the volume of the surrounding band. It is as if you are wearing the best ear muffs available, and having audio drivers placed in the cones. Perfect for drummers. One note on the ear pads: the pleather gets sweaty very quickly. This is not so bad however, since the sweat actually makes the pads seal to your head, providing even more isolation. It sounds gross, but it actually works.

Verdict:

These headphones are meant for drummers, not for daily music entertainment. You would be horribly dissatisfied listening to these through an iPod for casual listening. Think of the sound through this example: Mids and treble to be like the Audio Technica ATH-M50's, with little bass. If you are a drummer, you should not waste your money on any other headphone. These will make you happy for what they were designed to do; isolate sound and provide additional band audio. They are worth the $200.

I have these and the standard DT-770 headphones. I wanted the M because they offer more isolation from the house sound when DJing. I wish they isolated even a little more. They also have some nasty resonance frequencies...probably because they are so symmetrical. The volume adjustment is nice.

These headphones are great. They have very sturdy design, which makes you think they will last as long as a $200+ pair of headphones should. They are a bit tight, so it takes a while to get used to them, but once you get them on and cut out the outside noise you stop caring. I brought these on a long trip for the plane and they worked great in severely reducing ambient "plane noise." The sound quality is pretty good, I have a pair of open back Sennheisers that blow these out of the water, but everything but the LOWS sound great. The low lows are not particularly clear and there isn't a substantial amount of bass in general, which you would expect from closed back sealed headphones. This is sort of a relief though, many new headphones are focusing on getting you as much bass as possible, these seem to be a bit more balanced and less focused on BASS.

I thought the volume slider was useless when I bought them, but I have found myself using it more and more in sessions, so it is a great addition. The cord is very long so its a bit unruly for general use, but for tracking it is great. The case is awesome, though it doesn't have a space for the adaptor, I just made a slit in the foam and shove it in there now for safe keeping.

Works fine for what it is. I use it to connect my DVD player to an old set of Altec Lansing computer speakers I had no use for. Sounds incredible for such a low watt (20 rms between them) set of speakers & woofer!

It's exactly what it says it is. Works how it should. Pretty straight-forward.

I wasn't paying attention and ordered male RCA to Female 3.5mm. I actually needed female all around. But i was able to pick up some cheap RCA adapters from a retail store, and it works just fine.

I have a fairly modern TV, I bought it in 2010 or 2011. It has all kinds of inputs and an audio out (red and white) but it doesn't have a headphone jack. I like to play games and watch movies, sometimes while people are sleeping. So, I have to turn the sound way down, which can make talking hard to hear. This very simple adapter solved that problem. I used it to turn the audio out into a headphone jack and now I can play games and watch movies and I can hear the sound and nobody else can. I'm very pleased with this product, especially the price. It comes in a no-frills plastic bag, like a lot of these "add-on" cables that Amazon sells, which is great because I'm ordering online and don't need fancy packaging that only drives up the price. If you need this kind of adapter, don't buy an overpriced one, just get this one. It's a very simple cable that probably costs very little to manufacture and shouldn't sell for more than this one does.

Item is as described. A decent cable at a good price. Not much to consider if this is what you need.

I had bought a Luna concert pre-amp electric ukulele for my wife and then ordered the Luna 5 Watt AMP. Pros It works great. We put the batteries in and plugged in the 10 foot cable into the AMP and Ukulele. When we turn up the volume of the AMP and the Pre-Amp, the sound was wonderful. Cons You can not just turn up the volume on the AMP. You need to turn up the volume on the Pre-Amp on the Ukulele as well. I will probably order another Luna AMP, once I get another electric Ukulele to play along with my wife. She has a purple Uks. I might get the Blue Luna Uke.
