As a part-time, semi-professional musician/performer/producer [you can check out our NOVAkILL CDs here at amazon.com] I have a need for good quality and portability at a reasonable price. For maximum flexibility, I have been using USB audio I/O devices for the past 5 or 6 years, as they allow me to work on my workstation at home or laptop on stage with the same equipment. I was first attracted to Line 6 by the announcement of the KB37 because it looks so incredibly slick and sexy. To see if it could deliver the goods, I got hold of a UX2, which is basically the same as the KB37, without the keyboard. It took me about 5 minutes to realise the potential of this set-up so I got hold of a KB37 as soon as they were available.

HARDWARE The unit feels really solid. The plastic is very heavy-duty and it all seems pretty well put together, although one of my VU meters is slightly crooked. The three-octave keyboard has a good feel and also feels fairly robust. The I/O knobs [chrome] are perhaps a little loose [it is easy to bump them and change their position] where the controller knobs [black] are very stiff until you use them for a while. It is very light-weight and no wider than most two-octave keyboards so it is extremely portable. The footswitch jacks are a real bonus. The audio inputs and outputs are very good, allowing you to get high quality, clean recordings and to monitor everything easily.

DRIVERS Line 6 Monkey makes sure your drivers and other software are always up-to-date so it is a good idea to let the monkey look for the latest versions when you are setting up as the CD that ships is nowhere near current [it doesn't even support the KB37]. Once the Monkey had done it's thing, everything just worked. You use the driver interface to assign controllers and footswitches to different functions. It works really well but is a little hard to get at in a hurry.

SOFTWARE [GEARBOX] This is definitely the best part of the deal. The are plenty of amps, cabinets and other effects available and you can chain them all together to create amazing results. If you are not happy with what you get, you can go on-line and buy even more from Line 6, but I have barely scratched the surface of the bundled options after almost a year. GearBox has very flexible routing you can assign the hardware VU meters to any of a number of things [inputs, outputs, etc]. You can monitor and/or record with or without effects and you can even record your vocals or guitar parts whilst monitoring other instruments through the unit. You can have a single stereo signal path or two unique mono paths. e.g. one set-up for your vocal and a completely separate effect-chain for your guitar at the same time, whilst monitoring your hardware synths through the unit. Because it operates outside the normal Windoze audio system, latency is negligible which makes it great for using live.

IN USE This is where we ran into a few problems at first. The KB37 only transmits on MIDI channel 1 so, because we had been using Channel 8, I had to go through all of our songs and change things to Channel 1. But it was worth it because in every other way, the KB37 delivers for us. It is a great device for recording vocals and synth parts and it is a flexible and handy controller for our sequencer and soft-synths. On stage it is even more impressive as we can use it for live vocal effects without having to run our voices through our sequencer software. With two footswitches attached I can change GearBox presets easily on stage and mute the effects between songs.

SUPPORT Terrible. We had a few problems with the unit when we first started using it and the Line 6 forum was completely useless. After 8 weeks of getting no help from them whatsoever, I eventually discovered that the problem was not with the KB37. If it had been, I doubt it would ever have been solved.

OVERALL This is close to the perfect solution for us. It is robust and portable, simple to use, yet offers incredible sound quality, both for getting clean recordings and from the amazing GearBox software. If the support was better, this would be a 5-star review.

So far I've only use this to record my guitar with GarageBand on my Mac. Works great but download the latest drivers for it through Line 6 and skip the disc it comes with.

It's going to take me a year with some mics to give it a true review; though so far, I'm more satisfied.

I used this for several months without any problems on an AM2 based PC, and after upgrading to a an Intel Based Q6600 Processor P35 Chipset system, I only then realized that the audio drop-out, stuttering is common to Intel chipset (ICH9) Systems :S ...and up to now, there is no solution.

My son had asked for this for Christmas but it was backordered everywhere until after Christmas. I tried to find something comparable but when the salesman at Guitar Center saw that it was also an audio interface he said it was a great deal for the price. Before I gave up I tried Ebay and finally Amazon. I was so happy that not only was it in stock but arrived within two days!

Obviously this is more a review of the site than the product but it does exactly what it says and is the perfect small recording studio equipment.

When I bought this, the software was not compatible (out of date). Contacted line6 and got a very unfriendly rep. Line6 service sucks, and this IS NOT worth the price. Ended up returning it.

Purchased this Casio to complement my new Casio AP-220 digital piano (see my review) . I needed a keyborad with a "learning system" to teach me songs.. I read music but need help with fingering, timing, ect.. The Casio learning system... I have found.. is the best.. So I bought a Casio..

The keyboard has two serious negatives. thus, the "3 Star" rating

1. The digital display is too dim and very tiny.... a magnifing glass is required (not obivious on webpage "zoom")

2. The voume is too low on many tones like electric piano. The loudest is "Grand" which is not that loud.. even at max volume..... A real "bummer"

The STAND is heavy and well made... BUT.. it is too big for this unit... The top supports extend 3 inches longer than the keyboard depth.... Thus, only ONE of the rubber end caps is in contact with the unit. . It is obiviuos that Amazon or Casio gave no thought into "sizing" the stand for this keyborad.. One size fits all.. Shame on you.. You can slide the rubber cap to fit.. BUT there are stands for this size keyboard.. I have owned them with other Casios.

The HEADPHONES are JUNK.. will give them to my neighbor's grand children.... I doubt if they last a week.. 90 day warranty... that tells you all you need to know... I purchased a 3 year "Square Trade" extended warranty on the keyboard.. for $20... as I will use it a lot and "mother boards" don't last forever. I also purchased a 4 year "Square Trade" warranty on my AP-220 digital piano..

I will try this unit.....but, I am not "excited" about keeping it..

It is amazing that the same company (Casio) that engineered and built the "exceptional" AP-220 digital piano can also design and market a less quality keyboard for a not so small Amazon price of $174.00, and it is a "new" model.....they have to "cut corners"... somewhwre..

Look for another portable keyborad unless you really need the Casio music learning system.

As a child I owned a Casio keyboard that had a light pen which could scan a bar code to load up a song that you could learn. I didn't have the patience then, and the experience was somewhat troublesome (the bar code reader didn't always work).

Recently I have had the urge to learn how to play piano, but I don't have the time or money for private lessons. I have two children who I am trying to get interested in music. One is left handed, the other right, so a keyboard makes sense, and with all the features and sounds this thing can do, they should never get tired of it. I just unboxed it and learned how to play twinkle twinkle little star in about 15 minutes. I was impressed with the teaching method this device uses (worked for this old guy).

My wife took piano as a child and wanted something to play on. While this might not be her first choice for a keyboard, it should suffice. I have messed around with other high end keyboards, and I have to say this thing is very solid and the keys feel very good. If you press hard, the sound is louder, if light then the sound is more soft. There are tons of different instruments and sounds you can play with this keyboard, which is amazing, especially if you want to record your own music.

The stand that comes with this is great, and very solid. You do have to pay attention to the instructions, as you could assemble it wrong, but you will figure that out if you try to put the keyboard on it and it's not quite straight. The headphones are good as well and my box contained the adapter for the jack input on the back of the KB.

I honestly don't know what happened to other reviewers with their items, missing pieces, not good, whatever. This was bought new, and everything is in great condition and works as, if not better, than expected. I can't wait to have the kids give this thing a spin tonight after school.

If you want a top notch keyboard, to play music, or learn how, I would highly recommend this KB!

The product arrived on time and in great shape no shipping damage. The speakers are quite heavy and the box is big. The speakers physical size are bigger than I expected but I got them to fit on my desk no problem. The build quality is quite substantial. The instructions are not very comprehensive but I was able to figure out how to get them installed correctly. If you order the recommended 1/4" mini stereo jack (headphone out put on your computer) to TRS, you must separate the cable to be able to spread the speakers out on your desk. This may seem obvious but I felt it will be helpful information to someone else when they look at the cable and wonder how one end will go into each speakers connectors and to be able to move them away from each other. I use these speakers with my laptop on my desk, using the cable I mentioned. Please beware that the computer power supply can give these speakers a very loud and annoying hum caused by a ground loop. My heart sank over this as I was looking forward to having great sounding speakers on my desk. But here is some info to help out others, there are Hum buster solutions available to quell a ground loop that causes the hum, but before you spend your money on one try "lifting" the ground which means take the 3 prong power cord that feeds the computer and hook it up to a 2 prong adapter which eliminates the ground prong. I was so amazed at how well this worked without spending more than a couple of bucks. This solution quieted the speakers so much that there is no hum at all they are dead quiet. I also moved the power cord of the computer away from the other devices to a different wall outlet by itself, no noise and the speakers sound fantastic.

I bought these monitors being on a very tight budget.. I THOUGHT these were going to be tiny but holy crap the 5's are huge O_O

Buying the 6's or 8's would have DEFINITELY shook my entire house NO joke about that.

ANYWAY... my order came earlier than I expected for one and two these monitors came wrapped up like new born babies they were so secure haha I was actually kinda pissed at how much I had to go through to open them but it was so worth it.

I do classical on-location recording and often need small, portable monitors for the producer or musicians to use to review takes. The KRK RP5G2's are small enough to carry and have low enough distortion and flat enough response for classical use. The mid-range and high end is smooth enough that violins and violas sound natural and the low end allows for most of the range of the cellos, if not double basses. Critical mid-range distortion and phase linearity at the crossover frequency is good enough that woodwinds sound natural, which is often not the case with inexpensive monitors.

Classical music typically has a much wider dynamic range than most other musical genres, so really requires linear speakers, and the Chinese-made KRKs don't disappoint. The internal amps have an inaudible noise floor (unlike many internally amplified monitors that have some residual low-level hiss, hum or buzz) and have low distortion at both high and low levels of reproduction.

The wide range, calibrated sensitivity control is a bonus. On location, I drive the KRK's with either the +4dbV line output from an Apogee Ensemble OR the (approximate) -10 dbV headphone output from a MacBook Pro. Using the rear-panel controls, I can achieve a correct dynamic range, with enough gain to reach full power peaks with either signal source. It would be nice to have a detent at the "0dB" gain position, but it's not that hard to match the monitors, so is not a big deal. The monitors (when set up for 117V USA operation) use a 1 Amp, slow-blow GMA (5X20mm) fuse. It would be nice if KRK included a spare fuse, since these may be hard to find in some locations.

These RP5G2's are similar sized (the KRK's are just slightly larger and slightly heavier) and sound much like the Genelec 8030A's. The Genelics will play a few dB louder, and may possibly be a little more rugged, but they cost 4X's as much, and actually have less bass. You can buy (8) of the Rokits for the price of a pair of 8030A's!

Overall, these are excellent monitors, especially considering their size, weight and price.

I am a huge amazon shopper. The way I shop, I search for what I need, and then I weigh both the costs and the reviews of the people. I'm not too big on taking chances with new & expensive technology after a bad experience I had with a camcorder I purchased long ago. I would rather make my decision based upon what people have to say about it. I admit, I'm not the most frugal guy (I must say I do like nice things), and as such I'm also big into style and presentation as well. I'm willing to spend a little extra if I can get something that's not only really good, but also looks great too. Obviously, the ideal would be to get the best (looking) stuff for the lowest price possible, but I'm a realist. All that being said, with my purchase of these speakers, the process was no different. I needed some good quality studio monitors that were at a reasonable price based upon my income. As a hip-hop musician & technician for my personal home studio, bass is key for me. A solid, strong pair of speakers that can produce clear, rich sound, especially on the low end, would suit me perfectly. I've looked on many different websites for all sorts of studio monitors, combing through reviews and user-generated comments detailing what to look for and/or describing their experiences with whatever pair they've purchased. Eventually, I come across this page for the KRK Rokit 5s. It's got really good reviews and in large number. They also look pretty sleek with the black and yellow colors, which compliment the yellowish studio foam I have setup in my studio. Before making my purchase, I saw that there also existed the Rokit 8s, which also have great reviews and appear to be overall better the the Rokit 5s, but at a bit of a higher cost ($500 compared to the Rokit 5s @ $300). I finally decided that the 5s would be a better buy since, for one, it would already be a huge step up from that last pair of speakers I had (which were terrible, low quality computer speakers that BARELY picked up any bass at all), and for two, $200 extra for a pair of similar-looking speakers for a slightly better sound just isn't worth it (at least to me) with the budget I'm working with.

After finally receiving them, breaking open the boxes with the vigor of a kid on Christmas, the first thing I notice is that these things are pretty massive for their size, which to me is a great thing. In the pictures they look kind of hollow, but no, these things pack power. It still amazes me how clear yet how robust the sound is. Hearing the "wang" of an infectious bass line on these speakers is such a euphoric experience! Another great thing about them are the many different output ports in the back. It's really convenient to have the balanced quarter inches, unbalanced RCAs, and the XLR connections to choose from, which added to the fun of determining the best way to hook them up to my Behringer Xenyx 2442FX mixer. One of my partners and I had a field day yesterday playing around with it, so now I feel as if I'm finally able to utilize all of my equipment to its fullest potential! I said all that to say this. After having them only a few days, they've already become a permanent fixture in my studio for days to come. Maybe one day when I'm able to afford the more high-end speakers, I'll replace them, but for now these are definitely solid! You will not regret purchasing these at all!

i bought these for my son and he loves them . i can tell you that they are loud and the sound is great . there was a problem with a buzzing noise when hooked up to the laptop but he looked it up in the forums and found the answer for an alternative way to hook up

This microphone stand is an amazingly affordable, definitely durable stand. I've had it set up on our stage for two years now and it has been dropped, beaten, thrown, used as a weapon (desperate times, my friend), and just about anything you can imagine a mic being used for (get your mind out of the gutter). It's done so well, and has proven to be a great asset.

The only reason there's not 5 stars is I have had better microphones for transporting, and the awkward shaped base does make it rather annoying for moving around (whether rolling it somewhere or storing it in a trunk).

I am using two of these systems each with 4 receivers in my church in Yorba Linda, California. Never had any complaint from the band. They are rugged, solid metal case, heavy, elastic antenna, and replacing the batteries once a month. Set up is easy and self explanatory. Never had to read the manual.

Love the fact that they are stereo, so you can play the instrument in one channel and a mix in the other and the artist is balancing in between the two channels.

I would give 5 stars is I could mix the two outputs in both ears and just add more or less instrument.

Also, the battery compartment lockers are plastic and one broke when dropped.

Other that that they are amazing piece of equipment with higher performance than other more expensive brands.

Highly recommended.

The Blue Yeti is an excellent plug and record USB microphone that has dramatically increased the quality of my voice recordings. It has a solid & sleek build, is easy to use, and most importantly clearly records my voice.

Introduction Who I am and how do I use this product

My name is Antonio and I own and operate ATailoredSuit.com; I have been using the Blue Yeti since February to speak with clients on Skype and to record podcasts and videos about men's style and custom clothing. Prior to owning the Blue Yeti I used the Blue Snowflake for one year; before that I used the built in microphone on my computer and headsets. For the last 6 months I have been looking at purchasing the Blue Snowball; when this microphone came out I decided to make this purchase instead.

Pros Things I Love

1. Sound Recording Quality The most important quality in a microphone; from my limited 30 day use and when compared to the past types of microphones I am used to (Blue Snowflake, Logitech Webcam 9000 Microphone, Various Headset microphones, Built in Computer Microphones) this Microphone beat them all.

2. Plug and Play I have seamlessly used this microphone on 3 separate computers, one running XP, the other Vista, and on a Windows 7 machine. In each case it was immediately recognized and clearly marked as the Blue Yeti

3. Simple Knobs and Design Mute, Mode, Headphone Volume and MIC Gain Control. Stand can be tightened and microphone removed.

4. Solid Build Overall, Solid (One small complaint below). The 10 foot USB cord was a nice touch.

5. Playful Approach Blue has decided to present the Yeti in a playful manner. They appeal to the creative and make the manual much more approachable for those of us not technically inclined.

Cons Things I am not happy with

1. Size It weight 3.5 pounds and stands 1 foot high I am used to this now, but be prepared for a big footprint!

2. Looseness of Volume & Gain Controls A small complaint, but for an overall solid device these feel like they will be the first things to break.

Final Recommendation

The Blue Yeti is an amazing microphone that was well worth the investment. It has already dramatically increased the quality of my voice recordings and I recommend it to any podcaster. I give this product 9 out of 10 stars (5 out of 5 for Amazon!), my only knock that the price maybe too high for some.

Bottom line: Outstanding value for a great sounding mic!

What I liked:

Solidly built with a sturdy stand

It looks cooler than a Snowball (imho)

It worked immediately with my 64-bit Win7 system. No downloads, additional drivers, or other confusion. True plug and play.

Has a gain control

Has a mute button

The pattern select switch is clearly marked with the mic pattern

Uses a standard USB to Mini cable. The Yeti comes with one that's about 6' long.

Very reasonable price given the quality

What might have been better

It would have been really, really nice if there was a place to securely connect the pop filter to the Yeti stand. After living with my duct tape and cable tie solution for a little while, I like it better than even if the champ had worked. It provides a rock solid connection between the filter and the mic and nothing sticks out/up as it would with the clamp. You can, if you like, go back to the beginning of this point and remove one or two of the "really's".

To watch for:

The Yeti couldn't get enough power to run when I connected it to an unpowered hub in place of the Snowball. (Blue says you should always connect their mics to a USB port directly attached to your computer, not a hub. I got lucky with the Snowball.) After I switched to a different (powered) hub it works fine. The Plugable USB 2.0 10 Port Hub (with Power Adapter) is the hub that worked with the Yeti and it's excellent in many respects.

Other notes:

In the video I used Scotch Transparent Duct Tape, 2 Inches x 20 Yards, Clear (2120-A). It comes in handy for a great many things besides connecting a pop filter to a microphone.

And finally, if you're still uncertain, here's my recommendation. If you already have a Snowball then there may not be a reason to upgrade. The sound is better but maybe not better enough to justify buying a whole new mic. However, if it's a choice between the two, I would recommend the Yeti, both for sound quality, features, and (yes) appearance.

BTW, I feel that honest, effective reviews, accompanied by detailed videos, can take the place of first-hand experiences that are often lacking in online shopping. I've always appreciated the help I've gotten from other reviewers and try to return the favor as best as I can. I hope you found this review helpful and the video at least entertaining. Blue has become famous for its striking microphone designs, and the retro-modern Yeti is a worthy addition to the company's product lineup.

The first thing you'll notice is what a beautiful, well-designed object this is. The Yeti has a solid custom desk stand that provides a bit of built-in cable management for headphone and USB cords. Despite its outdoorsy name, the Yeti is not the ideal choice for recording in the wild -it's really big and heavy. That said, the swivel-stand arrangement allows you to rotate the body of the mic upside down into the base if you do need portability. (Unlike Blue's higher end studio mics, no travel box or road case is included, but at this price point, that's not a surprise.)

On the front: a mic mute button and headphone volume dial. On the rear, mic level control and a pickup pattern selector. The dials are just a bit jiggly and plasticky for such an otherwise elegant design. On the bottom are the zero-latency headphone jack and mini-USB connector. The swiveling body makes accessing the USB and headphone ports a snap. Another thoughtful addition down-under is a 5/8 inch threaded hole that allows you to remove the base and mount the Yeti on a standard microphone floor stand.

The Yeti houses a trio mic elements to offer stereo, omnidirectional, cardioid, and figure-eight pickup patterns. The selections give the mic a versatile bag of sound tricks, whether you're recording a solo podcast, taping an interview or meeting, or laying down some vocals in GarageBand. The headphone amp doesn't exactly go to 11, but the mic delivers a pretty respectable output level. We're talking 16-bit USB audio, so the Yeti doesn't have quite the full warmth and sonic detail of a "real" large-diaphragm condenser like Blue's pro studio models, but the sound is surprisingly good for a USB mic, with much less noise than similarly-featured competitors like the Samson G-Track.

No drivers needed -just plug in the included USB cable. On a Mac, select "Yeti Stereo Microphone" for both input and output in the Sound control panel of System Preferences. Configuring Yeti in GarageBand's Audio preferences is a snap, too.

To avoid P-pops and breath sounds when working up-close, you might want to invest in a pop screen of some kind, though it seems a shame to put a big foam hat on top of such a beautiful head.

Did we mention how cool The Yeti looks sitting on your desk? The streamlined aluminum styling matches the finish of Apple's current product lineup quite well.

The Yeti's sound quality and multiple pickup patterns raise the bar for USB mics, and leave even Blue's much-beloved Snowball playing catchup. For the price, a product that looks and sounds this good is going to be pretty hard to beat. Highly recommended.

The latest addition to my desktop is the most flexible recording device I've yet found: The Blue Microphones Yeti USB Microphone. Long known for their line of high-end condenser microphones, Blue is increasingly known for their computer-ready USB microphones, like the Snowflake and the Snowball, and the Yeti is their latest and certainly greatest computer-ready microphone yet.

Advertised as the first fully THX-compliant (a standard devised by Lucasfilms) microphone, the Yeti is a large (12" tall on its removable stand), hefty, multi-pattern microphone suitable for recording, podcasting, or any other computer-related audio activity. It features four switchable patternsomni, carodid, figure eight, and stereoa built in headphone amplifier, gain control, headpohone volume, and a mute button. For even more flexibility you can remove it from its desk stand and mount it on a standard 5/8"microphone stand or boom.

And it sounds great, tooeven better than their well-regarded Snowball series. I've been using it for recording music practice, building tracks with Audacity on my Windows and linux boxes, and with Apple's GarageBand, and making calls with Skype. The ability to record in full stereo or mono is a real plus. Up to now I've been using a variety of microphones together with various microphone preamps and an A/D convertersa mass of cables and power supplies that bad enough on the desk, but a real hassle when trying to use with a laptop away from home. The Yeti has it all in one package. It may not sound quite as good as a multi-thousand dollar condenser microphone and vacuum tube preamp, but for the money it simply can't be beat.

I rated it 3-star, because it is promoted as a mini bass amp. It's mini, but don't expect more bass than you can imagine by looking at 4-4" speakers. The add-ons are fun (lots of rhythms and drumming combos on the metronome; inputs, outputs; sound effects).

The battery life seems strong, too. I have maybe 3 hours on batts so far. Easy to tote, works OK as a living room jam amp.

I ordered these on the recommendation of a friend (I think he saw them advertised but doesn't own them himself), and -they're terrible! Better than what comes out of my laptop, but that's the best that can be said. The sound is all mud with no highs. I immediately returned them.

I have had these speakers for at least 5 years and they work great. The neat thing about these speakers is that it has a bass enhancer which is using MaxxBass. If you look up about MaxxBass you will see how it works. Basicly it converts low bass that normaly a speaker this size can't make into bass that the speakers can make without changing the EQ and without overdriving the woofer.

They also have a 1/8" Headphone jack and a S/P DIF optical output (Up to 16-bit/48 kHz) for digital audio. They do go pretty loud but of cource they are not going shake anything since they are 2.5" (60 mm) sized speakers.

You can wrap the power cord and speaker cord on the back of each speakers. The right speaker has a USB cord and a 1/8" speaker jack for connecting the left speaker to it.
