I read several reviews of this product before buying it so I knew what I was getting into. It seemed like the mix of comments were either the product was really good or really horrible. The horrible comments seemed to center around difficulty with the setttings. Hopefully what I write here will help someone else get it up and running b/c I think it really is a nice product for the $.

This product works great with my MacBook using garageband. It sounds really good too and the price is definitely right. That's the good news. The bad news is that it does take some time to fiddle with the settings to get working. Once you know what to do though, it's a snap.

First off, my mac recognized the box right off the bat since its USB compliant. I didn't have to do anything for it to recognize the box. However, two settings must be configured properly on the mac to get it to work the rest of the way: the input and output settings in the "sound" settings of the "System Properties" need to be set to "Fast Track USB." Make sure to crank the volume on the input setting all the way up (to the right). Second, you have to set your garageband settings properly...

Go into Garageband's "Preference" menu item and set the input and output to "Fast Track USB" as well. Then, plug your guitar into the 1/4" jack on the box. Finally, create a "real instrument" in garageband. You have to set the real instrument's track to read CHANNEL 2 and set the "monitor" to "on." That way you'll be able to hear the guitar through your speakers connected to the box (Incidentally, the XLR input on the box s/b considered channel 1 and the 1/4" input channel 2).

On the box, set the "mix" knob all the way to the right (full "playback" mode). Set the XLR "input" knob on the box all the way to the left. Set the "Output" knob high to the right. Now start playing your guitar. You should now be able to hear your guitar just fine through your speakers.

The extra software that comes with the box is awesome too expecially the GT effects software. This stuff has really great sounds. With this, you won't need all the effects pedals; it's all right there with GT.

Now, the manuals are really poor. You'll find no help in them. In trying to get this thing working I poured over the forum comments on m-audio's site. Review comments their gave me some idea of what to do, but not completely. I had to do a little google searching before I got the other answers to the puzzle. Therefore, I only gave the product a total of 4 stars: 4 stars for the great sound and awesome software, but a ding for the crappy manuals and website support. I would buy the product again though.

I've got to say that this unit works perfectly with my wife's powerbook. Unlike other posters, I had NO problems with it at all on my G5 at work, my G4 at home and her powerbook. The sound is fantastic and it works really well with the Apple audio control program which recognizes it right away. My setup for mic level input includes a professional mic which is amplified by a separate mic amp. The output of that line level amp feeds right into this unit. Additionally, the sound output to my headphones is a step above what is built into my G5.

Like one reviewer noted I too experienced an extremely high noise level plugging an electric guitar into the 1/4" jack. The direct box into the XLR input is the way to go. I hope this is limited to just our interfaces and not the whole batch produced. This product when using Windows ONLY works with XP It wouldn't install on my Millenium Edition computer. I have set up my laptop with Sonar Home Studio 4.0 and the Fast Track works great for laying down ideas on the road. Latency is minimal, and works well as an external sound card. I'm surprised that M-Audio didn't include a software mixer like other interfaces. It's a value for an interface less than $100.

Want M-Audio Fast Track US44010 USB Audio Interface with GT-Player Express Software Discount?

I've been using this for a while now under both Mac and Windows. Setup on the Mac was dead simple, but I never did figure out how to manually set the latency in OSX. The latency in GarageBand can get a little rough when you add some effects, but that's likely more to do with my processor (a G4 PowerBook) than the interface. But overall I don't even remember setting it up on my laptop, which is probably a good sign.

On Windows I didn't have too many problems once I got the Vista drivers. I've been using CakeWalk Music Maker 4, and once you get the right audio setting in the application (which can be a bit of a pain, but again not M-Audio's fault) you're set. Though I will say that disconnecting the USB cord while the sound card is busy is the one time I've managed a blue screen in Vista! But that's not entirely unreasonable. As far as latency goes, I've got a fast enough processor that if I set the latency on the Fast Track to the minimum (this can be set through the control panel in Windows) I get no perceivable latency. Oh, and if you're not using the ASIO drivers, that's probably part of your problem.

I've been using the 1/4" jack with little problem...I have to up the input levels in my application (which is a pain in GarageBand, easier in Cakewalk) but as long as I stay away from the monitor and fluorescent lights I don't really get any considerable noise. I may try the XLR route anyway, though.

This is a perfectly serviceable item for somebody just looking to do some casual recording on the PC, or in place of an amp when traveling (also allows for a wide array of amp/effect combinations without buying hardware). If you're looking to do anything even semi-serious (such as recording multiple instruments, or record actual tracks with a band) you might want to spend a little more. But for "personal" use thing thing's great...better than anything else I've seen or sampled in the same price range.

Also I've noticed that a large number of the negative reviews seem to have more to do with setup problems (or incompatibility problems) than the actual quality of the product. Like I said, I don't even remember setting it up on a Mac and on Windows (Vista) it was relatively simple. Provided you're moderately competent with computers you should have little trouble.

The hardware device works great with my Intel Core2 duo MacBook and an electric guitar. I was surprised how well it worked! I had mixed results with an acoustic guitar using a sound-hole external pickup, but was still usable (just really quiet) Here are some things I've learned...

*The knobs on the front of the unit are only used to control the mix and volume of the playback back to you if you are using the RCA-out for monitors or are using the headphone jack on the unit. They serve NO purpose for recording.

*The stereo mono switch is only used to separate sound in the playback. Mono will mix both signals into both speakers. Stereo will play the mic out of one speaker and the instrument out of the other. No recording use on this switch either.

*The signal LED is only for the Mic input. Don't worry if it doesn't seem to be working when you're just laying down guitar tracks.

*It is important to use the line level/guitar switch on the back correctly (this WILL affect recording)!

*In your Mac system settings make sure to set both the sound in and out to the Fasttrack.

*In GarageBand make sure both the input and output in the preferences are set to the fasttrack unit (make sure it's attached and powered up before you launch GB). Plug in your guitar and Mic. Create 2 new tracks in garageband. Make sure to assign the vocal track to channel 1 and the guitar to channel 2 or this won't work. You also want to make sure to turn the monitor setting to ON so you can hear it in your headphones you've plugged into the fasttrack.

*If you are getting a lot of noise and static (like I was initially) move the fastrack unit as far away from your PC as possible. This really helped cut down on the noise. It works even better if I use a powered USB hub to get even farther away from the PC. Same for your Mic and Instrument. Although the sound transmission is digital from the Fasttrack to the Mac, the sound the FastTrack picks up is analog and it doesn't seem to be well shielded or grounded.

*The included Live Lite software is bad. Skip it all together. Even the included tutorial was awful. It kept telling me to click on things in panels that are hidden by default, with no instruction on where to find them to display them. Stick to GarageBand.

Great little unit. One of my favorite Christmas presents ever!

I had a keyboard as a kid and knew that it would go over well for my boyfriend's 8 y/o artist/musician/gymnast wanna be. While most of the features are too advanced for her, she's catching on!

I did a lot of searching. The price for just the keyboard was somewhat standard for a sale price at at least one store, but I couldn't find such a reasonable bundle anywhere. Any parent who considers this MUST, MUST, MUST purchase the headphones, and the stand is a blessing. It keeps it off the floor and makes for a more realistic piano lesson at home.

Good sound; lots of bells and whistles. Sure it doesn't have 88 keys, but most people don't use the top or bottom keys very often. I think this keyboard is just perfect!

I had to return this product package because the "Deluxe Keyboard Stand" was not compatible with this keyboard. Yamaha's customer service was horrendous. They just said that it was a package deal and that there was nothing they could do about it. I asked them why in the world they would put together a package with parts that were not compatible with each other and none of the representatives I spoke with could give me a reasonable answer, including a supervising manager. I told them that the keyboard itself sounded fine and asked them if I could simply return the stand and replace it with a compatible stand, which they said that they had in stock. But they refused and said that I had to go through Amazon and return the whole package. It was very frustrating and I feel very soured toward Yamaha. Thankfully, I kept the packaging boxes in good order and Amazon's customer service is great so I was able to return the whole package for a full refund.

Performs as advertised. My daughter is learning to play songs from the built-in tutor in the keyboard. I can't say enough about the hours of entertainment she gets out of this. It's a quality keyboard at a great price. I am a satisfied customer.

Want Yamaha YPT-220 61 Key Personal Keyboard with AC Adapter, Deluxe Keyboard Stand and Professional Hea Discount?

I purchased this keyboard with some "found money" which I had not previously anticipated. I chose this product because of the Yamaha brand name. Yamaha is, in my opinion, one of the best producers of musical instruments in the world: whether they're wind instruments, pianos, or electronics, you can't go wrong with Yamaha. The keyboard functions exactly as it should. The sounds are excellent (as far as an electronic keyboard is concerned). I have no complaints about the keyboard. I use this mainly to practice organ works using a midi connector and a program on my computer. There were no problems setting it up, and I have had no problems using it. The keys are not weighted, but I'm not using this primarily for piano practice, so that is fine with me. You can decide whether this is a good or a bad thing for you.

When I bought this product, I was unsure about the connections available. They are the following: Power in (power charger is included), headphones/speaker out, sustain pedal in, Midi in/out.

As far as the stand is concerned, Don't listen to all the hype from the other reviewers about the stand not being compatible. This is inaccurate. The stand works exactly as it is supposed to: the keyboard sits on top of the stand, but is not bolted to it. It is perfectly OK to leave the keyboard sitting on the stand, provided it is not out in the middle of the room. If you bump against it, it is not likely to be knocked off. Just be careful with anything you pay over this amount of money for! It is a very solid stand.

The headphones are probably the weakest part of this package. They do block out a good amount of sound, but they are pretty heavy and fairly cheap. Also, if you plan on using the headphones, you need to order an adapter for a 3.5mm to a 1/4" adapter in order to use headphones provided. You can get this from Amazon or another retailer which sells small electronics. This adapter is not an item you should pay more than $3 for.

As for the package: The package was NOT put together by Yamaha itself. The products actually come from different brands. The keyboard and power adapter are from Yamaha. The stand is by on-stage stands. The headphones are by Nady. You may receive different brands in your package. I don't know.

I would recommend adding a few products to this package. I would definitely get a sustain pedal to go with this keyboard. Buy the cheapest one you can find--it doesn't have to be Yamaha brand to work. I would also buy a USB MIDI connection. Buy one for around $30. The best use of this would be for music notation software and for pipe organ simulators such as Hauptwerk or Miditzer.

I don't usually write reviews, but for such a big and cumbersome purchase, I had to. The stand is not compatible with the keyboard. End of story. It is a "World Tour" stand and the keybord has no other option except to rest unsteadily atop the stand. There is no way to 'fit' the stand into the grooves on the underside of the keybord or attatch the keyboard to the stand at all. So, we are keeping it and rigging it up our own way somehow, to help prevent an inevitable tip-over or slide-off.

I am not returning it because we bought it for our daughter's birthday, and that day is tomorrow. She is 6 and starting piano lessons. It seems like a hassle to return that whole package, and the keyboard itself seems fine. It's this 'bundle' that doesn't work out. My advice...buy local, buy separate. I am only giving this one star, because as a bundle, it is no good. Why bother selling a package deal with an incompatible stand??????

I purchased this Karaoke machine specifically because of the iPod docking feature. Once I received it, I found out it is only compatible with iPod Nano 2nd Generation, not the newer iPod Nano (which I will be receiving soon.) Also, the included microphone volume is so low, even when the volume is set the highest it will go, you can barely hear the vocalist over the music. We had to purchase our own better quality microphone to use with it. I would not purchase this again if I had the option.

One of my co-workers bought this for work and it's great. Our clients love to sing and there are plenty of different functions/options. I found the mic to be very loud at it's Max, unlike one other reviewer. The only reason we didn't rate it a five star was because it doesn't have a vocals display on the box...it has to be hooked up to a TV. We have had it for some time and have had no problems.

I love Amazon, have had a prime account for years, and buy tons of stuff from them. I was very excited about this purchase and had it one-day shipped to get here in time to take on our family vacation. As soon as I got it out, I could see right away that it had problems. The microphone top (mesh) was completely off and the cheap foam sheet underneath was ripped. The speakers appeared to have some kind of dust on them. The whole thing looks and feels cheap.

I despise returning things, and so tried to see if it would work assuming I'd just buy a working microphone. The CD player took 3 times of stopping, opening the player, and reinserting the CD to finally play and then stopped and started and skipped. Every time the CD player came on, it would make a chirping noise as it spun the perfectly clean, unscratched, company-supplied CD-G I put in (I tried two different CDs that came with it) before deciding whether to work briefly, with skipping, or not at all. When I plugged it into our TV, the lyrics also stopped and started, pixelated, stopped completely, and so on. I then tried to find an ipod dock adapter to fit my iphone, but there was none. At that point my husband said, "You just have to give up, it's not going to work." I was really sad to realize that he was right, and how disappointed my kids will be tomorrow morning.

Very sleek and stylish, lightweight and portable with great sound and great ipod capability and functionality. It would be nice if it had the capability to eliminate the vocals from the songs as they play on your ipod through the speakers, but all in all I am pleased with the product. A nice conversation piece as well.

The sound quality on these earphones are impeccable. I was quite suprised as they are "kiddie" earphones and you wouldn't think that the quality would be there, but I tried them out last night before passing them on to my 3-year old and was blown away at the clarity that these headphones provided. I bought theses for my 4 and 2 year old for when we traveled to NY (12 hours). They were great in the car ride up there and for the flight home. I loved how the girls could adjust the volume right on the cord. I checked them a few times to make sure it wasn't too loud for them, and it wasn't. They fit them great and they are super cute and comfy.

If you're looking for a wireless system that will give you great performance without a crazy cost then this is your product. No feedback, no humming, nothing but pure sound! I've invested in many wireless systems that have failed but this one is The One! I love it!

We do educational workshops, frequently with two presenters. On my shelf are two much-more-expensive, single lavaliere, wireless microphones; I hate using them. It's not just the problem of needing two receivers, it's that the lavaliere's don't have a "standby" or "mute" option. And you get static if you turn one of them off.

I originally ordered one of these sets for use and testing. They're not great, and I've got to do some balancing on our soundboard. But they're much more functional than what we had before. And, given the price, I'm not as reticent to let facilitators take a set to an off-site presentation.

For some facilitators, we've got to use the headset, as the lapel mike just doesn't pick up well enough. But the headset really improves quality. For other presenters who are naturally louder, it's not a problem.

I've since ordered another set of these, and an Audio2000s set of wireless handhelds. They should be adequate for our needs at our next big event.

Also, many of or portable speakers have only one XLR port. An XLR "Y" cable lets us run both mikes into one speaker, and then we balance out with the adjustments on the receiver with volume controlled at the speaker. A perfect and ideal solution? Nope. But it works well for our needs.

These aren't stellar microphones, but you get more than you'd think for the price.

Bought to use with XL2; however, tried it with song recordings and works fairly well.

Mic is really sensitive; so as little external noise as possible needed and sound should be adjusted through mixer or recording device. Best setting for me on audio has been Mid balance... range is nice with line of sight.

Saw complaints of interference -none yet for me.

Clips are easy to remove and windscreen seems to work fairly well.

Lavs are made of light plastic; so, dropping either on a hard surface should be highly discouraged.

So far, I like them... and they work as advertised.

This is a nice, integrated unit. The unit has very good sound quality, and it is not sensitive to feedback. What a great price! I've bought 5 of these units for our Salsa dance instructors and we couldn't be happier with them. They are the least expensive units that I can find that actually work very well! I use these units at up to 90 foot range, no problems. VERY low noise! Very solid too. SO much better than the crappy Mason units I've used. PS, I looked at the review by John E. Rutledge and he gave the unit 2 stars saying that the unit didn't come with the headsets. I can only guess that John bought the wrong unit (they can be ordered with different options) because my unit came exactly as shown in the picture.

A few days ago I borrowed a Spider II 15 from a friend, I was impressed with it , and since I had to borrow an amp you should get the idea that I needed a new small practice amp... while many adequate small amps (10-25 watts) exist they tend to be small sounding and shy on features, or the effects are substandard and don't sound like high quality stomp boxes at all .... The Spider II proved to be an exception to this notion, I knew within an hour that Line 6 would probably be the maker of whatever amp I ended up buying...This was my first hands on with a Line 6 product, by the way....

So I began to search for a baby spider of my own ... I found a great deal on a Spider III 15 at Guitar Center and rushed to town to snag me one of my own ... I bought the very last one at the store, they sell very quickly I was told by the salesman ... Lucky me !!

Cosmetically the spider III looks almost exactly like the II, the features are the same, but the III has been noticeably tweaked to the consumers benefit .. The effects sound a bit better and the mids are allot better, and they were already pretty darn great on the Spider II!

Its loud for a 15 watter ... sounds clean for a small amp even at rather high volume, very solidly built for any amp but extremely so for under 100 dollars, the effects sound right, like high quality stomp boxes rather than cheesy amp based effects .. like I found on my old Crate 15 watter, for instance, The custom made 8'' speaker handles the sound very well this is simply a best of its class unit in every aspect of its being!

One complaint about the Spider III 15 is regarding what some folk consider misleading claims on the packaging description about the artist presets. True the settings are hard to find at the Line6 website but with a little searching there are a few pdf documents demonstrating a bunch of artist settings for a number of songs.... and the nobs are great fun to fiddle around with anyway, very responsive as well!

All in all I could not recommend this product highly enough, and I recommend this amp to anybody needing a high quality small amp at a very reasonable price ... Its the best of its kind I have ever used, and I have used, borrowed or owned a bunch of small amps over the last 30 or so years..

My next big amp will likely be a Line 6 product as well .. They really seem to have a knack for rethinking design and technology and use these innovations across the entirety of their product lines, plus on the low end they have a good sense of which bells and whistles to leave out and which to include for the highest quality sound, highest level of functionality and biggest bang for your buck!!

I actually won this amp in a music contest and, given the very low price, I frankly didn't expect much. Was I ever wrong!

This is a great little amp. Compared to my 70's vintage Fender Sidekick Reverb, it's light as a feather still manages to give a great, clean sound. And the volume isn't anything I'd use for stage work, but it's still loud enough to drive my wife to distraction and I'm usually relegated to keeping it a respectable level. Which, by the way, still sounds great. And the special FX are fun that my aforementioned Fender couldn't have dreamed of.

The four presets and six FX are fun to play with and you can easily get your self wrapped up just playing scales and fiddling with knobs. The four factory presets are interesting and you can use them to program your own favorite settings (the manual says) but I really haven't played with that particular feature. And the presets, at least for me, aren't all that different. I can't tell that much difference between "Crunch" and "Metal" but maybe it's just my cheesy playing.

Another reviewer has mentioned the "song based" presets, but the 15w doesn't offer this option. As near as I can tell you have to be into the Line 6 Spider III 120 Guitar Combo Amplifier range before the cabinet is even big enough to hold the necessary panels and buttons and stuff.

Still, that's not what this product is designed for. It's a fun amp for practice or play, but not pro.

i love this amp, sounds so good!!!

Clean channel: It's really good, i use it for any style i want, pre-drive can give you extra volume. I use my digitech RP12 on this channel most of the time.

Crunch Channel: wow, i didn't like this channel before... but now i know how to use it! you can play stuff like blues, o Brit rock, or even stuff like red hot chilli peppers style. Remember to use pre drive!

Metal channel: ok, i don't like this channel, ii doesn't have enough gain for metal, but it's ok to play solos.

Insane Channel: my favorite one! is perfect for heavy metal, prog metal, but not heavy enough for core metal and that stuff... If you use pre drive here it becomes more insane!!

The Effects:

Chorus / flanger: it's ok, i don't like flanger that much, i mainly use chorus, and sounds amazing!

Phaser: Ok, i love phaser, but this one sounds REALY GOOD, but it's really limited too! :S

Tremolo: i never use it, but it sounds ok to me. If you put maximun Tremolo, you will sound really similar to "audioslave like a stone".

Tap Echo / sweep echo: it's really limited, so i never use it!

Reverb: ok, this is GOOD, i like it, i use it mainly in the crunch channel...

I bought this amplifier 'cause i'm tired of using my regular rig to practice... with this amp, i just "plug and play" :D

These headphones are SO good there clear, also block out the sound and there not so much money can't be happier.

Anyone looking to buy headphones should buy these there really awesome.

Thank you.

These are a cheap rip off of the Sony MDR-XB500's. Buy those instead. These are nothing in comparison, and for anyone who thinks they're the same, read the specifications.
