I love Mixvibes and their "fine DJ solutions". I use several of their software products, one of their DJ controllers and now I shill for them by wearing these this spiffy (and decent sounding) DJ style headphones with their snazzy logo emblazoned on each side. If you are a beginner the USB soundcard and enclosed software allow you to play music through the laptop soundcard and use the included sound USB sound card to cue up music in the headphones. The software is strictly for the beginner, you will want to move on to better software and dual channel sound devices soon. Like I said, I bought this for the headphones.

This mixer does what it advertises, almost.

The good: It works. It's not of quality I'd use for a combining mixer in a recording environment, but for tying multiple sources together (e.g. several computers, outboard synthesizers, etc) it does the job nicely. I very much like the fact that it's rackmounted: this was purchase to replace an original model Mackie 1202 desktop mixer. Overall, as a simple rack line mixer, it's adequate, and downright great for the price.

My major complaint with this is with the monitor mix. The concept of having a separate monitor mix is fabulous, and I was exciting to find it in a mixer in this price range. That mix is monaural. Again, no big deal. The kicker: the monitor mix, not the main mix, is tied to the headphones. In one way this may seem appealing because it allows completely different mix from the main levels. Unfortunately, as mentioned above the monitor mix is MONO. Rather than mixing in stereo, so the headphones could be stereo, and combining the L/R channels just before the mono output on the back, signals are combined at each channel input; before the monitor mix is created. Result: Monaural headphones. For some things, like a monitor in a recording studio, this might be fine. For me, this is a crucial failure. I need the ability to easily switch between headphones and speakers, and monaural headphones are simply not an option.

Thus, this mixer failed to be what I needed it to be and I'm left doing some really creative wiring through a patch panel to physically route the output to a STEREO headphone amplifier or speakers so I can have what I thought this mixer would do. If you don't need the headphones at all, this mixer is great. However the fact that one of the two main outputs on this mixer is essentially worthless leads me to give it only 3 stars.

Putting this mixer in my rack (along with a patch bay) solved a number of problems for me. It simplified the 'routing' in my rack and provided me with enough steero channels for all of my rack mounted devices. I found it difficult to find a mixer with enough stereo channels. As such, be aware this mixer has TRS inputs (not XLR microphone inputs), but you can use a XLR to TRS gender changer if you need an XLR input. Like the review before me, I too wish the mixer had at least one stereo 'aux send' (it has one mono 'aux send', but I can get around the problem using my patch bay. I am VERY happy with this mixer! It is an excellent value, has excellent functionality, and is available at an excellent price. This is my first Behringer device. I will consider Behringer more closely in the future.

This is another one of those "how do they do it" Behringer pieces of equipment. They are so cheap I bought one as a throw-away mixer for a job I was doing. My only problem was, the mixer worked so well I had to keep it!

It's basically a stereo line mixer with eight stereo input channels so there are 16 input holes on the back (L and R input for each channel). You can use a channel mono (only one input) in which case the pan knob on each channel becomes a balance knob.

There is also an AUX mix which is like an effect send on each channel and that feeds to its own mix output. You can use this for adding an effect like echo or reverb or use it as a cue send. The headphone amp has lots of drive and sounds good.

The master outputs include a nice little stereo LED-ladder level-display which is very easy to see in a darkly lit venue. The outputs are very low noise and have plenty of drive level. There's not much to dislike on this little mixer, it's got a clean and accurate sound, it's low noise, it fits in one rack space and it's dirt cheap.

I own four of them and use them everyday for a variety of mixing tasks. I have a pair of 8-channel racks that are filled with various old analog synths from the 80's. Each rack is equipped with a patchbay and one of these mixers. One of the racks has a pair of old Oberheim synthesizers which have a great top end and massive deep undulating bass, great sounding instruments. I sum the outputs of the Oberheims with one of these mixers and pass that to our Apogee A-D when recording, the sound quality is amazing.

For some reason a lot of people hate the Behringer equipment, I think it's just for sport, they really don't have much experience with the equipment. I've used a lot of Behringer equipment in installations that are "ON" 24/7, year after year. This includes feedback eliminators, mixers, equalizers and compressors. Out of over 50 pieces of equipment I can only remember two failures by Behringer products and those both showed up immediately out of the box. In my experience their products are just as reliable as any Boutique audio products.

If you need a compact rack mount line mixer, this unit is hard to match regardless of price.

I own two of these, which I purchased about 5 years ago. I've used them for many purposes, including:

live sound for small gigs (ran a dual output 8-channel preamp to this and to a 24-track hard disk recorder. Used this for FOH and monitors.)

surround sound (two of them together will do 5.1, and if you use the monitor channel for the subwoofer you can do bass management.)

Mixing the outputs of a hard disk recorder

Cue mixing: Run from a DAW and preamps to make a headphone mix in the studio

Pros:

Decent sound quality. I'd give it an 8.5 out of 10. A Midas Venice or Verona is better for example, and any expensive studio board such as an SSL or MCI is better. In-the-box summing is better. But this is pretty quiet, has good frequency response, and is excellent for the price.

Versatile. 16 stereo ins or 8 mono, or any combination. 3 outputs, a pair of stereo and 1 mono. +4 or -10 levels, or a combination.

Seems durable. Both of mine have had no issues in 5 years, and they've had a mix of studio and live work, including some short tours.

Cons:

NO RF shielding, AT ALL. I have used these hooked directly to powered monitors, and they will pick up RF from laptops, some cell phones, etc. If you are mixing to tape or FOH with one of these, don't set your cell phone or laptop on top of it or right next to it.

Not perfectly quiet. When hooked directly to a subwoofer on the monitor channel, the "auto off" would never engage until this was turned off. It also has a very slight amount of hiss when hooked directly to powered monitors. This is VERY SLIGHT though, I'd say -100 dB from the top of the headroom. So it's not a deal breaker, and very good for the price.

In summary, this is a very versatile, decent sounding, durable line mixer, and a steal for the price.

I've been a user of Berhinger signal processing products from the first three units that were imported here to the US from Germany. Back in those days the unit prices were higher and they even had service centers. Many years later...nearly all their units are inexpensive, yet still work wonderfully in my professional opinion. This is a very fine line mixer that is very clean, clear signal processing and offers stereo in outs per channel, individual volumes, even an FX send separate signal path. All 1/4" inputs are balanced TRS and one pair each outputs in TRS and XLR balanced. I highly recommend nearly every product produced by Berhinger.

Summary: Exceptional quality cable for the money. Nearly indestructible design.

Pros:

Extremely durable cable

No loss in sound quality, despite 25 foot length

Can be used for a variety of applications

Cons:

None

I purchased this cable so that I could extend the length of the one that came with my V-Moda headphones. Despite the length of the cable, there's no loss whatsoever in sound quality or volume. I have the female end connected to my home stereo and the male end connected to the headphone cable. The cable is coated with rubber, making it extremely durable, yet flexible at the same time. You couldn't ask for a better cable than this one.

These headphones are very very large....too large for a child's head. I bought them for my 8 year old and they are too big even for my husband. They are not padded which makes the top and sides very uncomfortable. The ear pieces are not snug and flay out at the bottom. My daughter hated them.

Company will refund me but I have to pay for shipping. Not very good customer service, in my opinion.

This is an excellent usb microphone. I have no problems using it for picking up conversations around a typical sized conference table. The audio quality is pretty decent, and you can use it placed on your computer desk to easily make typical calls from your computer. I've tested it with Mac, Linux, and Windows and it has worked well on each. For some reason on a Windows 8 install, the OS would automatically lower the volume of the mic. I'm guessing there's a setting that could fix this, but it was kind of a pain. Thankfully I hardly ever use Windows and it runs without flaw on Linux (tested on Ubuntu), which is great. The sound quality on the speaker could be better or louder, but it works fairly well as a speakerphone if the party on the other end is at a normal volume. It's also been tremendously busy on feedback/echo from the speaker and even from other external speakers. I was really pleasantly surprised by this.

I've also found it to be pretty durable. It's been dropped a couple of times, with no loss in audio quality or visual scars.

I have owned the UA-25, Emu 0404, Focusrite Saffire 6, Konnekt 6, and Mbox 3 mini in the sub $300 range.

Out of all of them, I strongly feel this is the best in class. It is built in a sturdy compact box that seems like it can be used to travel with. The other ones have their pluses and minuses and all of them have usable pre-amps. You can read reviews on the other ones but basically after owning the ua-25 and Saffire which are both only usb 1, I decided to go with the Konnekt which is firewire. It sounded great, but there were driver issues because it was still a new product, then I got the Emu 0404 and was extremely happy with that, but now it is discontinued so I decided to get the Mbox 3 mini to future proof myself. The mbox 3 mini only records at 24 bits and 48kHz, after getting used to recording at 24/96 I didn't want to downgrade so I sold it and did a lot of research then eventually settled on the quad capture.

Upon unboxing, you will only find the USB cable/ Manual/ Driver CD/ and Sonar X1 LE. Sonar X1 is my DAW of choice after years of being forced to use pro tools, so I already have the producer edition. I downloaded the latest driver of the website and the unit worked perfectly. After testing it with an old project that has 16 synths/2 VST effects per synth, I noticed there were absolutely 0 errors. I then tested it with guitar directly and also through midi and there was no latency. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit/ i7 / 12 gigs of ram, so my PC definitely keeps smooth as well, but this interface does not disappoint.

Pros:

1) Looks great in its black and silver casing and feels like it'll last a long time.

2) Small and compact. There is no space wasted.

3) Auto Sense. Wow this feature is absolutely brilliant. You plug in a guitar and play it while after pressing the button then just adjust your sensitivity to the limit it shows. No more clipping! Ever single interface should have this feature...but only this does. It is a huge selling point.

4) Drivers work flawlessly with Windows 7 64 bit, and it took literally 2 minutes to set up.

5) The headphone output produces a loud enough sound.

6) Pre-amps are the same as used in the V-700 (which in the $1000 range). They are crystal clear and transparent. In a quick vocal comparison, they sound clearer than the Mbox 3 mini.

Cons:

1) No on/off switch. I really don't know why there isn't one.

2) There isn't a separate headphone/monitor output level knob. For me this is annoying, because I keep my unit plugged into my monitors and headphones at the same time and it would have been great to be able to turn down the output to the monitors without having the turn down the monitors physically themselves.

3) Lack of inputs and outputs (but obviously you should do your research and see if this has what you want first) if you need more there is the Octa Capture which is built with similar pre-amps and looks.

I highly recommend this interface if you want a unit that just works, is compact, and looks like a piece of pro equipment. It is USB 2.0 and is relatively new so hopefully it will be future proof. I am definitely going to keep this unit and recommend it to those around me. There is the new M-Audio Fast Track C400 which looks promising, but if it has a lower quality pre-amp than the mbox 3 mini (which is the step up from it), I definitely think the quad capture is better.

Buy Roland QuadCapture Audio Interface Now

I got the Quad capture from a local BB store recently. It was easy to set up. I use it with Reaper mostly but it works fine with Audacity and Audition too. The preamps are amazingly good for a unit that only uses USB bus power. I also have the Focusrite Scarlett 8i6. This is its main competition in the same price range with similar features. Focusrite has a more sophisticated software mixer, but it is confusing at first although it offers more flexibility in routing. Loopback feature would have been nice on the Quad. As far as the software drivers, Quad is better. Focusrite cannot change the clock rate for spdif on the fly. You will simply get no audio until you realize that something sent audio that was at a different rate. With the quad's drivers, it changes to handle it. For example, if Focusrite spdif input is locked in at 48KHz, and you play a 44.4KHz audio, you will get nothing. Quad does not suffer from this issue. Focusrite also drops out occasionally and you have to unplug and replug the USB cable. On the same PC, Quad has no problems like this.

If you need a simple interface with two XLR/Line and SPDIF I/O, this unit fits the bill. Noise is very low, and it comes with a way to configure a noise Gate as well as a compressor and a high pass filter. HPF is limited to 100Hz but still useful. One interesting feature is the AutoSense for the inputs. You calibrate it for the loudest expected sound and then it takes care of keeping levels below clipping. I think all such devices should have a feature like this. The preamps get noisy after about 3/4 on the gain knob, but that's almost 40 db of gain. To get something quiet above that level of gain, you need to spend a lot more. For most condenser mics, 40db is plenty. The device is rated at 54db max gain. It does not have an EQ section. The compressor is actually usable with the ratio, attack, release and makeup gain settings. It also has a Gate (downward Expander) setting to cut out background noise. It is very effective; I set it to -37db and the room noise is inaudible. Unfortunately, you cannot enable the noise Gate separately from the Compressor. There is only one Bypass button on the software. I suppose you could set the compression ratio to 1:1 but it would have been nice to separate them since they are useful for different things.

For the playback, the results were excellent. Very clear audio out of the spdif into my Yamaha receiver and out to the Adams. It lacks a volume control for the digital audio out, but you can use the Mix knob to lower the output and increase the input volume. For the analog out, it has a volume knob shared with the headphone out. It would have been useful to separate them. Plugging in the headphones does not mute the speaker output.

Sonar X1 is one of the better DAWs out there. The included software is the LE edition. Good enough for simple projects. I prefer Reaper personally but if you don't wish to buy seperate software, then Sonar is a good substitute. Overall, I recommend the Quad.

I've tried several recently released audio interface from 100 to 300 dollars range.

Things I have tried:

1. E-MU 0204 USB, really goood sounding, even the headphone output. But horrible drivers. For simply music listening, its great.'But if you are recording, it's horrible. Very unstable driver, always have clicks and pops.

2. Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 and 8i6. They are good at recording due to good preamp, but the sound quality, especially headphone output sucks. Bad drivers too, random disconnects in both Mac and Win 7.

3. Roland quad-capture. Definitely the best than the other two. It's got really stable and low latency driver!!! And sound quality, including headphone are good. Comparing to E-MU 0204 usb, its slightly focused on the lower end sound. But overall still great. Only complain is the headphone output and line output volume are together, cannot be separated.

So you should definitely try this one.

The noise floor must be next to nothing. Using this interface with pianoteq and a 2 year old macbook pro and the drivers work stable with buffer set at its lowest (64samples) on a leopard osx. When I turn the volume up to max noise is nothing, nada. Quite shocking when starting playing actually.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here. I'm rather surprised at how little this oversight is mentioned, but if you're going to call an interface "best in class" or "best in price range," I wouldn't think I'd have to manually turn off all my speakers in order to record or simply monitor with headphones. It's pointless to listen to a mix with headphones if your monitors are blasting, and of course recording is impossible. Depending on your placement and if you have a sub, it can be a pain in the ass switching them all on and off again. This was the main (and only) drawback of my ua-25, and it's hard to believe it wasn't addressed. Komplete audio 6 looks better, sounds just as good IMO, and allows me to easily switch from headphones back to the main outs in the same price range. If this isn't an issue for you the quad will work fine... But, how is this not an issue?

What a great bag. I switched from using CDJ's to Traktor almost a year ago and had never found the right carry case that wasn't too heavy or bulky. This gator bag (the second gator bag I own) has great construction, and my traktor S4 and 17 inch laptop fit very well. I still have room for my cables, and extra pockets for flashlights/memory sticks, etc. The only thing is that I wish they had more padding in the headphone pocket, as I do feel they are bit exposed, but a great bag none the less. Definite recommend.

I bought this bag for my Denon MC6000 which fits perfectly. The construction of the bag is solid and for what you pay for comes a nice protected compartment for the controller. The front facing pad on the controller compartment has egg carton foam which is good for your knobs. However, the sides of the bag could use some cushioning. When I was putting my equipment in, I was disappointed to find out that the front flap pockets aren't as big/deep as I thought they would be. I was hoping that the ac adapters for my controller and laptop would fit in it, but it seems those pockets are reserved for gum, USB cables, flash drives, mouse, travel surge protector or something similar of size. I ended up putting my adapters on the left side pocket, and had to cram my (cables/laptop stand) in the middle pocket. The flap doesn't give you a tight waterproof seal when the bag is full. The middle pocket where I had to put my cables and laptop stand are a little exposed, and the left side pocket where I placed my ac adapters are as well. The sides of the compartment where you put the mixer could be exposed so beware when it rains. The headphone compartment could use some padding, so I recommend using your headphone pouch/case for the extra protection. Last but not least, the laptop compartment is pretty well padded and big enough to fit a 17in laptop. My Gator g-Club Control bag has orange on the middle of the fabric that's sewn on to the zipper; unlike the picture which just shows all black. If you're in a budget and looking for a bag/case to put your controller in to travel in between gigs then this bag would definitely suffice. However, I would probably recommend that you carry a backpack along with it especially if you're bringing more than just your controller and laptop.
