If you go to any Guitar Center (my personal favorite is the one in the Valley, in Sherman Oaks. It has the greatest selection of haircuts), you will probably run into That Guy in the bass section slapping a Fender VI (in candy apple red). He'll be cranking an amp, fussing with knobs (to show he knows and cares what he's doing) and dazzling the entire store with his version of "Schism" by Tool, which will segue seamlessly into anything by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. You could describe his bass sound as "searing" or "monster" or "growling." You could do that, but you don't. Because this is America and you can choose to say or not say things at a Guitar Center on Ventura Boulevard.

This person will glance expectantly at other shoppers in the bass section. He will have a satisfied look on his face. He will expect your face to also look satisfied even though you are trying to ignore him and wondering why the hell you are in Guitar Center in the first place, this place sucks. He will look over at you, and while he's riffing on "Give It Away", he'll casually explain that you need a bass amp with at least 400 watts. You did not ask him for advice, of course. He is being a nice person giving you his expert opinion because he is an expert, as you can judge by his flawless rendition of "Roundabout" by Yes. He'll tell you about his band (progressive speed metal heavily influenced by classical, you know, the compositions are really similar). He will explain that for every 100 watts pumped out of a guitar amp, you will need three times that for a bass amp. But, he says, just to be safe, you should settle on at least four times. Then while he runs his fingers along the "fast, jazz-like neck" of the Fender VI (reissue), he will explain that he uses a bass amp that has, like, EIGHT times the wattage of his guitar player's amp. You can only assume that his bass amp is the size of a Honda Civic.

At some point you realize this person is playing a bass with six strings. SIX. Because four strings just isn't enough. While six strings might seem impressive, you will always only have five fingers. If there's an accident, then you might have fewer. Occasionally there are those with more than five fingers, but let's be honest here, they are not playing bass.

The point of this story is that you do not need an 800-watt bass amp unless you're in the Foo Fighters and if that's the case, you should be ashamed of yourself. This Acoustic mini-stack is 100 watts and it is more than powerful enough for what you want to do. The tone is warm, there are active and passive inputs, and you can control the low/middle/highs. It sounds great overdriven or just clean. It's affordable, compact, and portable, so you can tuck it in a closet, shove it in the trunk of your car, or carry it to a subway platform so you can serenade unsuspecting riders. Are you playing at home? Then this will make your neighbors complain. This is a good sign. I don't like your neighbors either. Are you playing a club show? Then yes, this is great. You will be able to kill it at a respectable volume that won't drown out the drummer. Poor guy, he has to carry all this crap to every gig. Meanwhile, your amp is on wheels. Are you recording an album? Then 100 watts will be more than enough. Then with all the money you save, you can buy a bass with eight strings just to prove you are double the bass player of Geddy Lee, who, like a novice, only uses four strings.

My background is dj'ing with vinyl, then Serato Scratch Live, and most recently moving to controllers. I'm self taught, mostly from trial and error plus some group time with friends who dj'ed. While years ago I was highly interested in dj'ing, due to space and time, my gear is collecting dust in storage. I really enjoyed dj'ing and wanted to get back into the hobby, so I checked out the market for controllers. Last time I checked the market, the controllers were very toy like, jog wheels the size of Oreos, and faders were awful. Basically they were not up to my requirements of something I could actually scratch with, also have something at least close to Serato Scratch Live, or any digital vinyl system (Traktor included). What I really wanted was something I could get the same performance but replacing the turntables with a smaller item.

I pretty much gave up for a few years and most recently looked at the market again, starting with some research and buying a Native Instruments Audio 2 DJ with Traktor LE. I was impressed enough with Traktor 2 LE enough to buy Traktor 2 Pro, plus a Vestax VCI-400SE (Ean Golden edition from DJ Tech Tools). But what I found was the controller jog wheels didn't have the response I wanted out of the box. The delay wasn't huge, you could still beat mix using the jog wheels but they didn't have performance close to a digital vinyl system that I was looking for. A few people mentioned that this is a tuning issue, where you can manually adjust the jog wheel settings but I wanted something more basic, just plug and play.

After debating and researching some more, I took another look at the Numark NS6. From many Youtube videos, the Numark NS6 had many positive reviews, was more solid feeling at the store, plus this was using Itch over Traktor (more on this later). I decided to order the Numark NS6 and use it with my Apple MacBookPro 13" base model (late 2011). Receiving the controller I found a nice surprise that the box mentions "Made in Taiwan" instead of China or other countries. It's a moot point but I rather see USA or Japan but these days it's rare to just see something not made in China.

Opening the controller, first thing I noticed is the weight. It's not a bad thing but the controller weights more than other controllers, giving a very solid over feel. If you're coming from turntables, it's going to feel feather light, if you're new to dj'ing, it's going to feel like a stack of magazines. Checking the hardware, I really liked the crossfader (very light like a Pioneer mixer) and the knobs all felt solid with just a slight amount of slack. The jog wheels are larger than the normal sized jog wheels (larger than the Kontrol S4) and have a nice weighted feel to them. Overall they are plastic but very solid, I hardly felt any play in the wheels when I pressed down on one edge. If you're used to vinyl, this helps with the transition, as with these jog wheels you can back spin the wheel for a few seconds. If you're used to CDJ's like the Pioneers, then this may not feel as natural. One of my favorite features of the NS6 is the long pitch controls, these are not as long as the Technics 1200 pitch adjustments, but much longer than on other controllers.

As mentioned earlier, this controller works with Serato Itch, software from the markers of Serato Scratch Live, but designed for controllers. If you're new to controllers in general I would highly recommend you decide if you like Itch or Traktor as they are very different in design and function. Just to give you a very very short summary (based upon my short experience), if you want something basic go for Itch, if you want extras go for Traktor. You can use this controller with Native Instruments Traktor 2 but reviewers have mentioned it's a rough change and not a tight integration as with Itch. Also at this pricing, if you want to run Traktor, the Kontrol S4 is a better choice.

The installation of Itch went very smooth on my Mac, I also installed this on a Windows 7 Professional 64bit machine with no issues. A slight problem I had was running the install program as "Administrator", I noticed this problem installing Serato Scratch Live as well. After installing, I plugged in the controller to the laptop, and updated the controller firmware as recommended. Since you can download Serato products without any registration, I would recommend going to Serato first, download the latest version of Itch instead of using the CD. After a few minutes of firmware updating, I was able to use the controller by loading up tracks.

From Itch, the interface is very simple, if you're moving from vinyl dj'ing, or a new dj, this will be a recommended choice. It's hard to describe the application in words but you get a clear view of the tracks playing (up to 4), a waterfall graph showing multiple tracks playing next to each other (great for beat mixing), a effects section showing current settings, and finally a music browser. Since Numark designed the NS6 to work with Itch, integration is done extremely well, the browser feature of the NS6 is nice, access to the effects is clear, also you have dedicated buttons for cue points, and Sync/Cue/Play buttons. There is also a not often mentioned button which I found extremely helpful, the two buttons below the pitch control which allow you to slight bend the pitch of a song very slightly. If you ever mixed on a pair of Technics 1200's, you could do the same trick by holding down the "33" button, then tapping the "45" button to push the track. Another nice feature is the strip search, basically a laptop style touch pad that allows you to scroll through a song. This works very well and you can somewhat pin point the drop where you want.

Moving to the jog wheels, they are very easy to work with. These are the dual mode wheels, where the top can be configured in scratch mode (emulating vinyl, music will stop), or pitch control (music never stops, pitch is changed upon movement). The sides of the jog wheels allow for small adjustments, and I found it was very easy to transition to this from vinyl. I would highly recommend which ever controller you buy, look for one with these type of jog wheels, cheaper controllers usually have single mode jog wheels where you loose the ability of touch the side for small adjustments. Another nice plus is the rotating LED on each platter, which is also color coded if you're using deck A/B/C/D. Very handy.

Getting to the overall performance with the NS6, it's a great controller to work with. The jog wheels feel very responsive and have near vinyl performance. The weighted feel of the jog wheels reminds me of the feel of vinyl. Sound is excellent with a good loud headphone amp, master and booth outputs, something rare these days. The buttons are made of a harder plastic (feels similar to buttons on a gaming controller) but I didn't have any issues with the feel, it's very solid and clicky. The pitch adjustment is done very well, I noticed better pitch tracking than on other controllers, which is great if you're not using Sync. The eq section has a nice cutoff as well, it's not 0db but enough to kill the levels as needed.

In a few minutes without reading the manual, I was able to get myself going with a few mixes and playing with the effects as well. After reading the manual I experimented further with the effects section and looping using the buttons on the controller. Basically, every function in Itch is hard mapped to a button on the controller. While it's a simple interface, there's enough to get really deep into mixing or making new cue points. Also if you're frustrated by controllers and trying to find a certain part of the song, the strip search feature is great, and works very well.

On to the not so nice issues of the NS6, and this was hard to write. First off, off all the controllers I played with, this is a very impressive item. But I felt there could have been some improvements. One issue is the master levels, I could not figure out how to display the output instead of volume output. The problem is it's set to output, so if I increase the volume, so does the master levels. Normally, the master levels are showing the output before the volume, so there's no effect on how little or lot you adjust the volumne. Now this isn't a big deal with the auto gain feature of Itch but still annoying. Another item is when you cue up one channel, it will automatically enable that channel on the jog wheel. Now this is handy but I could not find any way of disabling this feature.

A down side I also found was the effects in Itch, which I personally felt they are a few steps below the effects in Traktor. I mention this as most likely you'll be using Itch with the NS6. I tried all of the effects with various types of music but I could never find something that worked, most of the effects sounded too processed. I also tried to add a smaller amount of mix, as you have a nice wet/dry control, still getting this weird "hall" effect.

This brings up an important difference between Itch and Traktor. With Itch, it's very simple to configure and use, think of this like the Apple iPhone, it's not designed to change the settings internally, it designed to work out of the box. The down side is if you want to reassign a button, that's not possible. With Traktor, you have more options with the configuration, like an Android phone but also there's more customization issues that may have a problem with. The big difference here is that Itch only supports Itch approved hardware, but Traktor can be configured with different vendor midi controllers. Personally this is really a preference for your needs. As mentioned before Itch is a simpler interface if you're looking for basic features, where as Traktor allows for great customization but with a slightly larger processing performance hit.

If you're looking for a near vinyl feel, or used to Serato, I would recommend a look at this controller. It's smaller than two turntables but also big enough it doesn't feel like a toy. If you're new to dj'ing, this is a great starting point, it's simple enough to get started but no over complex where you're goingt be lost. Plus there's room to grow when you move to hot cues and other features. The NS6 might not be best controller, but really there is no best controller, just what fits you're needs the best. The effects are a low point of the NS6 but the build quality and important features work well which makes this a great choice.

The included version of serato itch is very user friendly and easy to understand. The platters are amazingly responsive feel great to use. The NS6 includes a feature that helps you to match the beats of multiple songs without even looking at your laptop. The effects area, and library navigation are very useful and helpful. It is an overall wonderful piece of equipment! I would recommend it to any and everyone, of all DJing levels.

Wow. Just, wow. The NS6 is amazing. There are so many features on this thing it's ridiculous. It's built like a tank, the buttons are made to be mashed on, the platters are spot on for scratching, the crossfader is customer replaceable, it works perfectly with ITCH, you get free access to WhiteLabel.net... It's just wonderful. If you are thinking about getting a mixer/controller, then look no further, this has it all and in a weeks time you will be making studio sounding mixes like a pro.

It's a wonderful dj controller but i'm having to much issues with windows 7.

The sound is very very good, the scratchers are so responsive, the mixer is wonderful!! The controller is heavy and it is so powerful, I'm so happy with it. The effects are very nice and with this mixer/controller you can Mix music like a Pro Dj or Club Dj.

Notes:

It seems that this controller works with serato but works better in a Mac than a Pc with windows 7 or vista.

I recommend this controller/mixer if you are a club dj or pro dj.

i can't put it in to words but i feel obligated to add my 5 star rating to this. absolutely perfect "beginner's" setup. i use the beginner term extremely loose as you can check out any of the numerous reviews on youtube and you'll see it has equal potential to produce great mixes as any CDJ out there. i didn't want a toddler's toy to begin with where i'd master it in a few weeks, and this is far from it. you can easily take this to a professional level.

the interface is awesome, perfectly laid out. i'm only a week into it and i've mastered loops, cues and beatmatching (i refuse to use the sync button). most of my quick success is due to the ITCH software, also fantastic for a beginner. i have read several reviews it isn't the greatest software available, and the Numark struggles with other midi software, but i'm totally satisfied with it. it does all i need for my level. by the time i'm qualified to produce my own tracks from scratch i'll be long since upgraded. but for now, this thing is awesome.

there's also tons of tutorials on youtube and even more articles. plenty of resources to get you going. the instruction manual is only 3 pages per language and i love it. basically like a newborn baby, figure it out for yourself. and i have done just that. in less than one week.

craftsmanship is amazing. it's solid. i've read some complaints about the weight but i simply don't see it. the thing is light but not too light. easily transportable.

i'm running win7 x64 and have had zero issues with skips or latency, even with many other programs and services running.

I have not experienced any of the issues that previous reviewers have encountered. I am running a Windows 7 desktop with a 6 core AMD processor and 8 GB of memory. I installed the software directly from the Focusrite website and was up and running quickly. This is the first interface I have bought for home recording and have found it relatively easy to use. The Scarlett Mix Control was a little confusing at first but after carefully reading the manual I have figured it out. I installed Ableton Lite with no issues and have also installed Reaper which is mainly what I have been using as far as DAW software. The pre-amps in this unit sound wonderful and I have been recording guitar and bass dry and adding effects afterwards and I am totally happy with the sound. I have been recording vocals with an Audio Technica AT-2040 mic and vocals sound great through these pre's. I don't know what to think about other reviews here but I have had no problems with this unit. I am a computer technician so I tend to pick up quickly on computer related things and out of the box I was up and running and starting to record in less than an hour after unpacking. And this from a guy who has never used a recording interface before. Focusrite has a great reputation and having used Focusrite preamps in the past I was sold on buying this unit and I am glad I did. I am completely satisfied and I highly reccomend the 816!

I have owned the Presonus Firepod for 7 years and recently gave up my old desktop for a laptop which does not have firewire. So after 3-4 hours of research I decided on the Focusrite Scarlett 816. I read the issues about the latency/static/drivers but am a computer person and had exp with the firepod so I crossed my fingers and bought a factory refurbished model for $175, hoping I could deal with any issues that came up. I got the unit, and first off really like how compact it is compared to the monstrous Firepod, loaded the drivers turned it on, plugged in my bass and was able to hear it through my headphones...but there it was...the terrible glitchy static sound. I screwed around in my prefferences on Ableton for 10 mins like a dummy and then just went out and registered the Scarlett and downloaded the new drivers, rebooted everything, and then plugged back in and everything was perfect and i was relieved. I goofed around with it for 5-10 mins with no effects and was impressed with how warm my Peavy Cirrus sounded just straight in. It is early, but to me it had a much warmer and authentic sound than the Firepod. (In the pod's defense it is 7 year old technology.) As for the unit itself, it is nothing fancy to look at but made solid with well made knobs and looks like it is made to do what it is supposed to do with no frills...which I don't have a problem with. I have not tested the phantom power which I need to do but may update once I test with Audio-Technica 4040. I am rating this a tentaive 5 stars assuming it will continue to work as it did on the initial tests.

The Good:

1. Seems to sound better than Firepod

2. Compact and light. Runs very cool compared to Pod.

3. Appears solidly built

The Bad:

1. Faulty out of box software drivers.

I went out and bought the Scarlett 8i6 at the local music store the salesman there, who runs his own home recording studio, didn't have any qualms about the piece. And after owning it overnight, I do not either.

Sure there were driver updates to go through, but that took an hour and a half, maybe two hours. So I started updating, and took a few breaks, watched some football. After that, the system was ready to go, and I was able to record my first song after following some of the ableton directions. I guess a possible source for poor quality may be in the sound: I don't really know because I didn't hook up any monitors yet (I've gotta save up for those first).

So maybe I'll check back in a little while to see if I'm having the same problems as everyone else. Hopefully not, but I guess there's always a return policy.

Fingers crossed.

Edit: Ok, so I've now been using the interface steadily: I have no problems with the 8i6. In my opinion, it is a fantastic tool for all my small home recording needs. It comes with Ableton Live Lite 8, which is great for just about anything. I would recommend this to anybody starting to record music, and I'm sure it will still work wonders for a trained studio musician looking for an interface.

For the price, this is a great interface. Never had one problem with is honestly. It is a drag that to turn it on you have to plug it in. Very odd. Doesn't have an on and off switch (that I know of). If it's plugged it is on, if not its not. That's a drag but I can get over it. maybe 2% of the time I plug it in and the signal is totally weird. All I do is reset it and the problem is always gone. This is a great interface, easy to use reliable and well made. I highly recommend it. I run it through logic 8 and it is great.

Researched which audio/MIDI interface (under $500) to get for my home studio more than a year and was quite discouraged by the feedback in support forums on almost all audio interfaces with latency issues, clicks and pops, etc. I just couldn't understand why there wasn't one that simply did what it was supposed to do without major hassles.

I had first considered the Akai EIE Pro when it first came out but decided that I should wait to see what bugs may have arisen. It seems like there are several issues with this model from what I have read and more than I care to even consider dealing with.

I then researched both Tascam's US600, Native Instrument's Komplete Audio 6, and the Scarlett. All seemed to be what I was looking for but after reading that the Komplete has considerable latency issues with the analog inputs (having to do with analog->digital sound conversion I think) that there is no solution for (as confirmed by NI) I knew that the Komplete was no longer an option.

So it came down to the US600 and the Scarlett 8i6. After much deliberation and consulting a few friends, the Scarlett 8i6 dropped to ~$190 around Thanksgiving so I took a chance and picked it up.

It was very simple to set this up with Ableton, almost plug and play. Took me just a little while to configure Ableton so that my Ultranova would route audio through the Scarlett. I have had NO issues whatsover with this and am super stoked that I made the right decision with this interface. The sound quality is pristine, the build is nice, and although I have not hooked up a mic to check out the quality of the preamps, I have opened many tracks in Ableton with A LOT going on at the highest quality audio and have not had one instance where there was clicks, pops, or latency that was noticeable (I think the latency in Ableton is set to .86ms) running on an HP with 8GB of RAM and a 3.2 GHZ processor.

It also works great when set to be the PC's default audio card.

These are very good quality! I love the fitting and the colors!

I order one package every year. Some times I lose them or they wear down due to sweat and make-up over time, so I find I need a new pack once a year.

They last a year. I interchange in every class according to the mood of color I am in :) I teach a lo of different gorup exercise classes.

Some complained how expensive they are. They actually are much cheaper than specialty store prices and they are good quality. Consider these.

These are decent (average) quality. They are quite tiny and quite delicate beware of damaging them! They are attractive, and do what they are supposed to do.

But the vendor's pricing of this tiny little item, which cannot have a production/transportation cost exceeding 99 cents each, is so exorbitant as to not be funny. The advertised LIST price of these tiny simple foam puffs is near $40 and even at $17 or so, it is absurd. Hopefully there will be some serious retail competition soon, and drive the price of these down where it belongs, near a dollar or two each, instead of nearly $4 each.

Perfectly fine little windscreens, if you have tons of money. I consider this price a retail gouge, and have rated it thus.

-IMPORTANT NOTE: The picture displayed is not correct, in fact that headphone is called the RHP-5.

-The sound is still great, great treble and, for some, the bass too. In my opinion the bass is a bit on the strong side(tuned this way, maybe because of its intended purpose), though if too strong then the audio control setting in your media player can be altered to contain the bass lower.

-The style of the headphone is so good. The blue and black make a really good mix.

-The comfort factor of the h.p. is really nice, though for me the wide ear pads (that are packaged separably) are more relaxing on my ears.

-The only thing I don't seem completely pleased is the cord, it's the spiral telephone cord. But you get used to it later on and you actually later find its benefits.

OVER-ALL: GREAT, especially for what the price is. Again, great.

I've purchased many 3.5mm to RCA cables for under 10 bucks in the past, and I would buy this cables again over all of my past purchases. The product came exactly as pictured and more importantly...they worked.

*Both the RCA connectors and the 3.5mm jack appear to well constructed and housed in a solid metal jacket that should survive some abuse and keep the connections strong much longer than its plastic counterparts. I did notice that the metallic finish on connector housings arrived with chips in the finish, revealing a less metallic finish underneath. This most likely means that if you are buying this product for its aesthetic appearance, you will most likely be disappointed within a couple of months.

*The connection tips feel very solid and plug into the RCA and 3.5 jacks solidly without any loose wiggle.

*The cords themselves are exactly as pictured with the exception of some small print that repeats across the length of the wire reading "OFC Stereo Audio High Grade Cable BlueRigger." The cords are a great thickness and initially appear to be able to survive for quite some time, unlike the hair-thin cables i've received in the past.

*An additional feature that sets this product aside is the splicing point for the two RCA cables. About 6 inches from the end of the cable (RCA side,) there is a split for the RCA connectors that is housed in a solid, but flat plastic housing. This allows you to have about 6 inches of cable room for each RCA jack for some added maneuverability.

And lastly, the cables sound great. I haven't been able to hear any audible sound distortion or any other audio quality reductions. This product is everything I could have asked for in a 6 dollar cable.

Just what I needed to connect my tv (with no audio out) to my amp. Wasn't sure of the length I'd need and 8 feet turned out to be just a little long, but ok. Cable feels heavy and well made.

I bought this to use as a monitoring device for a boom op doing video shoots. That's not really the target market for this, but in reading the ad copy for how they expected a musician to use it, it seemed completely logical to hang it on a boom op's belt, plug in the boom mic, run a long XLR to the recorder, and let it run.

One nice option for "one man band" shoots is to grab a 1/4" output from your recorder, and run that cable back to the PM55 for monitoring other mics. For example, you could have one or more lavs mixed down to a single channel, send that back to the PM55, and have boom audio in one ear, and lav audio in the other.

The preamp is surprisingly good, and they are not kidding when they say it provides plenty of volume! Be careful if you're feeding this with a mic on someone who suddenly decides to yell. (Not that this would have happened to me or anything...) The preamp is so clean that if you're using the 1/8" headphone output for monitoring, you could conceivably run another 1/4" input from the second headphone jack back to your recorder, and have remote level adjustment!

Last but not least, this unit DOES pass through phantom power correctly from a recorder/mixer, but does NOT provide it for you. I have used this for location shooting with a Zoom H4n Handy Portable Digital Recorder, and the results were great. I was able to shoot for two full days on a single 9V battery.

I can't speak to how well this would work for a musician on-stage, but my guess is that it would be just as impressive there as it has been for me. This is a very solid, well-made product.

Because of the mono/stereo feature of this monitor, it helps with set-up on stage. Plus being able to use it with a battery makes in more portable. This little black box does what it says it will do &does it well. I am a singing drummer in a rock band and need to hear not only the Mix from the Board but have custom control over how I hear my vocals as well. This Rolls Amp allows me these "luxuries" and helps me elevate my playing both in practice and in playing out live at shows. I paired this product with Shure in-ear SE 215's and am up & running for under $200! I Highly recommend! I don't know how I played without it now. SO MUCH BETTER THAN FLOOR WEDGES! It works fine I guess. The main complaint is that the power cable plug doesn't fit into the device very well . I have to push it in very hard to make a connection, and it comes unplugged with a small movement. Other than that it does what I need it to do.

In comparison of B&O A8 earphone I owned in the past, this H3 is far more better performance. Sound is very transparent with deeper bass. The ear pad is soft and comfortable, it fits in your ear nicely. I purchase H3 to replace Apple generic earphone for my iPhone since my A8 broke one week ago. In this past week, I was very patient with Apple earphone's performance since I have been used A8 for 4 years, of course, there is no comparison of Apple vs. B&O. Thanks god, I finally got H3 arrive today, now I can go back to my enjoyment of music from my Iphone. The only speculation of this H3 has very thin cable that may not be last. Over all, B&O product quality is always superb and costly, but you pay what you get.

I have to admit I had my doubts since I owned a pair of B&W C5 and LOVED them. I never found something of near or equal quality but those definitely are. The sound quality is really good and I think it is handling the bass pretty well (my EQ is set on loudness on my iPhone)

First of all the built quality is excellent, my only concern so far and we will see over time is the thickness of the cord, I hope it is resistant enough.

The remote control is great, in fact, much better than B&W. The carrying case that comes with the pair is beautiful and well built with cord management and separate holders for the earphones.

I purchased the silver version at an Apple store in New York.

UPDATE

Well as much as they are great I decided to return them. The one issue I have with them is that you hear too much ambient noise and I feel that I have to crank up the sound level. So back to my C5 which for now are the best headphones I can think for below $200

A fully-analog oscillator with 8 step sequencer, LFO, MS20 filter, in/out sync (and an iphone app to sync to midi), quarter inch out, built-in speaker, ribbon controlled keyboard with full octave range. Oh Monotribe where have you been all my life? Been playing with this thing for a week and it's AWESOME. Creates nasty sub bass, pulsating analog basslines, nasty 303 sounding acid. Syncs with Maschine via an iPhone app and I am recording sequences that are synced and it sounds wicked. You can mod the heck out of these things as well. Voids your warranty but the circuit board inside actually has notes on the board for places to solder and add modulators. It was built to tweak. I haven't opened mine up perfectly satisfied with the sounds it's making. Not for everyone.. but lovers of techno, dubstep, acid house and the like will geek for the sound. I love it.

The Monotribe is an awesome instrument. It's got a huge palette of synth sounds, including a bunch of upgrades from the already fantastic Monotron: multiple wave shapes, multiple LFO wave shapes, combination pitch and filter, key lock mode, etc. This is my first drum sequencer and I am completely enamored with it. It's a little difficult to use well (it's a complex device), but understanding the device will lead to great results.

The only downside that I've come across is that the drum sounds aren't variable at all. The high hat is a little weak, and the analogue snare sound doesn't sound great to a lot of people. There's also some weirdness with the synth in play mode, but I think this is due to an incomplete understanding of the gate and/or flux functions on my part.

Highly recommend it for anyone who wants to start playing with a drum sequencer, anyone who loved the Monotron but wanted more, or synthophiles looking to get relatively cheap analogue gear.

I have had this for two weeks now, its fun and incredibly versatile. The filters and LFO are very impressive, the range of sounds is incredible. Trigger it with an iPhone, old drum machine or spend $50 more and get a midi kit. No soldering, just open the case and plug it in to the board, there are other mods but those take more electronics knowledge. Very impressed by Korg for releasing this. My only gripe are the drum sounds, very thin sounding yet still a great tool in building sequences or accenting another synced drum machine. I hope to see other modules like this, perhaps a better drum machine?

These will be collectors items one day and will not lose their value, awesome sound, well built and great features apart from the foolish oversight to omit a MIDI input, you can however add one yourself via Amazing Machines MIDI add on and also they should have included a power supply, you can buy one of these afterwards as well, maybe both of these things missing keep the price down but they did push it up higher for me to the $300 range what I have now however is an incredible little synth that produces amazing sound REAL ANALOG thanks Korg.

I love this machine.a real analog synthesizer with very basic drums.u must use creativity from avoiding getting bored with the machine.no midi unless u go inside the machine.but over all a great real analog from the old school plus korg just released a schematics blueprint of more drums that u can google.this is a very live hands on synth so now I can make those dark side of moon type sounds and zone out to real analog flavor and a real inexpensive synth

1st of all i heard about this mic from a composer but i was lil bit hesitated when i saw the bad review here in amazon, My friend said that this guy received a defeated mic and he should return it back, and he asked me to trust him (my friend) and buy this mic!

So i bought the mic and I've just received it now and I'll just say one thing:

The Neumann U87 price is 3200$ and the blue mic stage one is 800$.... this blue mic is more brighter, warmer, sensitive than the Neumann U87, extremely low noise, the Vocal sound is so wide, loud and clear.

I can't believe that this sound comes out from this capsule

i just want to say that I'm not American and i don't know any seller or anyone in amazon.com because most of people is talking about the fake reviews!

Anyway its Perfect in Vocals (VO VOCALS) i didn't test it on instruments till now

Bought a "new" one off Amazon. Box had clearly been opened before. Was missing the microphone cable. Amazon gave me 10% discount, but after testing the mic with my Mbox 2 Pro firewire card and Pro Tools 8.0, I discovered that the mic would stick at a high-level and send a loud noise into Pro Tools everytime I began singing into it. My AT 3035 works fine, and I've since returned the Blue mic and purchased a much better Neumann U87 which also works fine. I think I got a dud that someone else had returned to Amazon and they passed it off on me hoping I wouldn't notice. The mic did look great and the capsule idea really drew me towards it.
