The cable is specifically mentioned to be compatible with iPod players, however the headphone jack end (not sure what it's called) does not fit properly. It slides out and if you compare it closely to the connector for headphones-it is visibly different. The end of the cable slides out and most of the time the contact is not correct and sound comes out one side, does not come out at all, or is extremely poor quality.
