I got this guitar a few weeks ago. The downloadable video was a bit hard to figure out how exactly to get it because the website doesn't really give directions (they are in a different section of the website than where the guitar's detail is located). The video is good and does give the basics to get you going. It still sometimes goes a little out of tune, which is to be expected with a beginner guitar. The micro amp which comes with it is not very good and should be replaced with a real amp ASAP. So far, the micro amp has fallen out of the guitar twice (amazingly it still works despite hitting my hardwood floor. Also, the pics should be replaced with medium or heavy width pics (which are very cheap). The strings a decent enough to start with. I would recommend this for anyone's 1st guitar, but not really suitable for an experienced musician. For the price, it's a great deal.I got this guitar a few days ago for Christmas. I've wanted to learn to play the guitar for 25 years at least, and my wife got it for me so I could play a bit and see how I like it. She went with this one because it was pretty cheap and she wasn't sure how serious I would be about using it or learning to play, so with this being under $100, it isn't much of a commitment. Overall the workmanship of the guitar is pretty good and it sounds good--more related to the amp than the actual instrument, I think, but still. I'm a novice, obviously, so I don't know that much about guitars, but I've played it till my fingers couldn't touch the strings anymore from being raw--this is normal until you have callouses on your fingertips, I'm told. So from my novice perspective, it's a good instrument. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to see if they like playing/learning, or to anyone who wants to give it as a gift to teenage kids or something, where you don't really know if they will flake out in a day or not. Buy this, give it six months to see if you/your grandson will stick with it. If they do, then go spend hundreds on a nicer guitar or a better amp. Until then though, save your money and stress, and get this one to start with. This is really really great guitar. Good product the price we pay. I am a beginner. I dont know how to play guitar. I never even touched a guitar. I started learning guitar it and played very hard. Its functionality is normal and as expected. I am very happy to have this. People who want to start learning can buy this with complete confidence. If you buy this from Amazon for $79.99 then you're getting a 4 star deal! For $129.99 it's not so good a deal. There's better ones out there for that price like Fender Squires or Fender Starcasters.
That aside.. The guitar over all is very good looking. It has an antiqued accent. The pick guard and whammy bar tip are light cream colored. The neck and fret board look aged and the black paint around the bodys edge has a hazed faded look.
Out of the box the strings were no good (flat). Change them right away with some new ones. The strings were a bit high on the bridge and I had to lower them. It now sound pretty good and I'm glad to have it in my collection.
The little plug in amp is kinda cool. It'll run on a 9 volt battery for about 8 hours. You can plug in headphones and you can plug in your mp3 player and play along with your tunes.
One word of caution. Don't try to put flat wound strings on. I tried and they almost ripped the bridge off.
If you're on a budget then this is a decent deal at the lower Amazon price.it was great , not a feder but it comes close , worth the price , not everyone has feder money
