I've owned several mixers over the past 20 years from the low-end swap shop "no-name" mixers up to the top of the line Vestax and Rane series, and I can say that the DJTECH DIF1S is truly an excellent piece of gear. First and foremost, you need to understand that this mixer is not meant for the club or wedding DJ, but rather for the turntablist or anybody that specializes in the language of 'scratching'. If scratching is your thing and you don't want to shell out a bunch of cash, then I STRONGLY suggest this mixer. I hate the fact that whenever a company makes an affordable product, it's usually referenced with terms such as "entry level" or "budget", however I can assure you that's not the case here. Truth be told, I had never heard of this company, however when I saw that Thud Rumble was selling this same mixer (albeit branded with the Thud Rumble logo), it immediately grabbed my interest and after doing my research, I made the purchase. Several months later, I can assure you that I made a very sound investment! Here's what you get:

* A rock-solid (built like a tank) 2 channel battle mixer with 3 EQs on each channel

* Super smooth up and downs

* Very solid knobs...nothing loose or flimsy

* A crazy tight crossfader powered by the Mini InnoFader which includes a fully adjustable contour slope

* A very simple/minimalistic layout which provides easy access to all of the faders, knobs, and cue buttons

* Selectable PFL or Master for the meters

* A 1/4" and 3.5" headphone jack

* No "transform" switches or buttons. I've always hated these and thought they were cheesy and gimmicky!

* No wall-wart! That's right...this has a proper AC plug!

In short, there's nothing about this mixer that I don't like, and for less than $200, you can't go wrong! One feature that I haven't tinkered with yet is the switchable DVS/Phono input, but the way I see it, if I need to switch from timecode to vinyl, I'll just do it within Traktor.

The bottom line; don't think of this as a an entry level or budget mixer, but rather as an awesome and affordable piece of gear!

I've been DJ'n for over 15 years and I've had a ton of mixers. Being both a club and battle DJ I would definitely say that this mixer leans more on the battle side. The sound is crisp and the crossfader is one of the best around. If you're looking for a mixer to scratch and do the occasional party, I highly suggest this mixer. However, if you're looking for a mixer with lots of bells and whistles, I doubt this mixer is for you. This is for serious scratch heads that want a cost efficient mixer to get down on.

This is undoubtedly one of the most clean and accurate mixers I have ever used since 1998 when I started scratching. vs. Vestax, Rane, Pioneer, Stanton, Behringer,Gemini, LOL Radio Shack. I bought it to replace my vestax pmc 06 which is smooth and accurate, but has a lot of noise in the fader. A friend has the same vestax 06 with an Innofader upgrade, but it still pops when cutting because of the vestax analog design. So I've been looking for a mixer that I can record my scratches with without spending the totally outrageous prices the other companies are charging. It needs to be very clean sound, and cut fast without delay. The dj tech does!

I am relieved to have found this mixer. Thanks dj tech for putting out a product that scratch heads can use. This isnt for djs who want bpm counters, flashing lights, and transform buttons. It is what all of the turntablists wanted before midi cues were important. Its a clean face without a bunch of unnecessary bs, and a hamster switch with curve on the clean, smooth, accurate crossfader. For 90% of scratching this is enough.

Since there aren't many out there yet for people to try before buying the fader is very similar to the Rane in smoothness and fader cap design and feels just as sturdy. But I think this fader cuts faster and more accurate than the Rane or Pioneer. There is a worthwhile youtube video of short-e dif-1s vs Rane where she does a side by side.

I bought with a free next day shipping promo and got it less than 12 hours after ordering freaking awesome. $2500.00 mixers can stay on the shelf. And the guy who gave the negative review works for radio shack don't believe this troll.
