I bought it to do podcast. It is as simple as plug and play. I still had to make some adjustment to the sound for garage band. But overall, I like it very much. The kit contains, the Blue Snowball Microphone, a pop-up blocker, and a earphone and headset. The microphone is ballin' as usual (I've used my friends couple times, and they were great)
it didn't have any problem.
I gave 3 star because the pop-up blocker was very hard to install and use. it just doesn't give you the flexibility to put it front of your microphone.
also the headsets and earphones that comes with the set are made out very cheap so it doesn't have the quality.
although, I did like the earphone because how hallow it sounds, but that might just be me. maybe I don't know what studio quality headphones are suppose to be like? but I doubt it :PI was very excited to receive my new Blue Snowball, but when I connected it to GarageBand, NOTHING.
Well, thank goodness for Amazon reviewers!--as I read that several people complained that the USB cable was faulty--which turned out to be the case for me as well. So I'm using an old USB cable that I had lying around, and now it works just fine. I have NO COMPLAINTS about the mic itself, but I REEALLLLY like it when things work out-of-the-box, like they are supposed to. Quality control is an essential part of ensuring that you have a quality product overall...So big minuses for this inconvenience.
Also, the pop filter doesn't fit the mini-mic stand that shipped with the mic, and I'll have to buy a longer stand in order to use it properly. The headphones are not the best quality either, but I suppose you can't expect much for this price--HOWEVER, for the SAME price I could have, and possibly SHOULD have, opted for a higher quality non-USB mic, (like the Shure SM58) and just connected it to my audio interface instead.I love this mic. It is USB so that may cause an issue if you are trying to incorporate this into a multi mic setup, but if you are a sound engineer and know WTF you are doing then Im sure you will find a way.
I have used it directly connected to my pc (Win 8) and my buds pc (Win 7) and it worked great. I have not tested it with a mixer as there wasnt a connection option for usb mic.
There is a sound selector mode on the mic. 1,2,3 are the modes. I have tried them all but honestly didnt notice a big difference. I do primarily voice recording for podcasting and such so you may get more diversity when using musical instruments.
Oh I almost forgot... the headphones are literally trash. Seriously, if you said you were just going to throw away the phones that came with it I wouldnt even trip. The pop filter is great though so you might as well get the package because the mic and pop filter together are going to cost you as much as this package. If you get a better deal minus the phones then.... do it.This is great for voice overs and it so cute when sitting on the desk. However if you plan on being a super star and recording music that has a specific clarity, then you may want to look at this brands other microphones. But this worked really well for those you tube voice overs!
