What is wrong about the description in Amazon about this headphone is the type of this headphone whidh says it is "Open-Air" type.
Actually it is a Closed one.
At the back behind the hinge on each side it have only 8 small pressure release holes of which 5 of 8 is covered with acoustic filter.
Since it is a Close type headphone so it is more suitable for both studio and loud environment.
Only drawback thing in this headphones is the size of its cup.
Ear cups are quite small.
Eventhough it can cover most of people's ear but some with bigger earlobe will face some problem.
Overall : This is a great headphone. It is the "Professional" among the professional headphones.

A friend at work introduced me to these headphones. That's what friends are for. A week after receiving them I ordered a second pair; one pair for work and one for home. I got tired of trucking the first pair to work and back home.I listened to music I must have listened to a thousand times before and discovered music I'd never heard. My music collection had acquired a new lease on life. Do NOT operate heavy machinery or care for small children while using these headphones! (Don't even think about driving.)
A few months later I bought my third pair. This pair was simply for loaning to friends so they could share in the experience. (I wasn't about to part with my work/home duo.)
One of the most rewarding purchases I've ever made.

I got these headphones to replace my old Roland RH-25s. The Rolands didn't have the treble crispness or bass response that I wanted. These headphones sound great at all frequencies. The bass is clean but not overpowering. The treble end is plenty crisp. I never knew my iPod had so much to offer! For what it's worth, I listen to almost exclusively classical music.I like the fact that these shut out outside sounds so well. They're not as comfortable as the ATH-M40fs's, but these sound better, in my opinion (my dad has the M40fs). With some adjustment, these can be worn for a few hours with no problems. They also fold up too, which is pretty awesome. One thing about them: they're built like a tank. A little heavy, but who cares, anyway? The cord is a good length, nice to have the coiled part if you need it. Overall, I'm glad I paid the incredibly low price at Amazon to get these.

Okay, for $108 bucks, these are pretty darn good! I have no degree of expertise when it comes to frequency ranges and how well these headphones represent each, I just have a generic perspective. I'll do my best to give a proper frame of reference.The only high-dollar headphones I've used have been two other audio-technica sets (ATH-A700 and the ATH-ANC7), and two bose quiet comforts, the 2s and 3s.
I haven't used my ATH-A700s inna while, so I'm not gonna use those for frame of reference. I don't have much play time with them compared to the others.
Also, I'll review based on the reproduction of sound at the high, mid, and low ranges. Again, I'm no expert, so don't expect anything too technical.
The bose quiet comforts don't have such great sonic reproduction at all levels of the sound spectrum, they do okay for mids and highs, but anybody can tell you that their low-freq reproduction is TOP NOTCH!! I've never heard better bass reproduction than in the Bose QCs, the QC3s suck, in my opinion, they're not bad but they're not great either. The QC2s, in my opinion were better.
Now, the ATH-ANC7s are pretty decent, but their reproduction of low-freq sounds suffers, but since they're supposed to be sound-dampening headphones, their function is not for quality as much as it is for sound dampening. They're pretty good and those are what I use the most, since they travel better than the large A700s. I'm in Afghanistan, so portability was more important than quality. But I listen to music a lot at work, and I needed something better.
But these headphones, the PRO700s, maaaan--they're incredible!! Their low-freq range is better than any of the other Audio Technica sets I've used I think (can't remember how well the A700s compare). I'm hearing sounds in songs I've never recognized before because of how well these headphones represent all ranges. THEY'RE GREAT!! Thanks to these I have a newfound appreciation for Outkast's "Claimin' True", wow!! Great song, these headphones will open your ears to a whole new range of sounds you've never heard in your music before, I'm almost certain...unless you have high-end headsets already. I think for the 108$, it was A COMPLETE BARGAIN!!

Honestly, after seeing so many mixed reviews on these, I really wasn't quite sure what to expect; yet the spec sheet looked promising, so I was quite happy when they finally arrived. The build quality seems to be top notch; all pieces that are plastic are thick and weighty, and do not feel like they will snap or break anytime soon. I've owned various brands of headphones, the most recent being a pair of Skullcandy Hesh, which were decent enough but due to their horrible track record, I knew it was a matter of time before they would break. The Pro700's pleather ear cups are soft and smooth, and rest nicely against your ears. The clamping effect that holds them on is just enough to hold them in place, while being soft enough to avoid fatigue over long periods of time. Note: while one reviewer said that they were too tight due to a larger head, I wear a size 7 7/8 in fitted caps and have not noticed any discomfort. I use them for hours at a time on Logic and most of time, except for hearing my music, I forget I'm even wearing a large set of 'phones. The headpiece doesn't really have any padding to speak of, but strangely this doesn't make them any less comfortable.
One thing I was worried about was the cable length; I was almost certain it was going to be so long that using it with my iPod would be a total pain. Luckily, I was wrong. The cable is ultra thick, heavy duty, and coiled only part of the total length. Overall it's just right; you can be far enough away from your audio source if needed, and when you simply want to sit/walk around with your music player the cord isn't ridiculously long. I'm not an expert but I like that the cable is the thick type, not the super thin flimsy type used in so many headphone models.
As for sound quality, I have pretty much been blown away by these headphones. With lesser models, you may find yourself cranking the volume to get better "performance", or perhaps better bass response. While you can do that with these headphones, if the track contains loud treble, you might just damage your hearing. I have played tracks that simultaneously play loud "high" notes with super-loud bass hits, and both come through with crystal clarity. On all previous headphones I would set my iPod's EQ to "Hip Hop" to get the most bass response; this is totally unnecessary with these. With the 700's simply set the EQ to "Off" and I guarantee you will get the most faithful sound. Bass, be it a punchy kick drum, or a more synthetic warm "tone" come through clear and shake your ears with undistorted clarity. Mid range sounds don't get lost by the bass either, and high pitched noises like a nice high hat or ride cymbal cut through the mix and never get drowned out by large bass. This is really what shocks me; no matter what I play through these headphones, every single section of the music, mid low and high, all get represented at the same level, none get over shadowed or underpowered. I've always loved doing nothing more than sitting with my iPod and listening to music, and now those treats are made even more gorgeous to listen to. From string quartets to heavy metal, from bass heavy dance music to hip hop, there is simply nothing these headphones cannot handle.
So far I have had no problems with these headphones, no distortion, clipping, rattles, etc. However, if anything happens, I will update this review to let people know. As it stands these headphones were the best musical investment I have made in a long, long time.
