I have a mild to moderate addiction to small guitar amps, so when I saw this little gem I had to buy it. First of all because of it's looks. I mean, come on.....Two-Toned Tolex and Sparkle Grill Cloth in a mini amp??? How cool is that?Received the shipment from Amazon in 3 days with least priced shipping option. I never bother with shipping upgrades. Never worth it.
Package arrived in good shape. Unit was well protected with foam suspension pieces. Upon unboxing, was slightly overwhelmed with strong odor of glue. Hot off the Chinese press! Other than that, the fit and finish are top notch. Amp is half the size of my Behringer AC108 Vintager. Very light too. But not in a cheap way.
Plugged in the amp is bit noisy at idle but had really good tone for such a small combo. Maxing the Volume out produced just a tiny bit of natural, tube like breakup but not really loud. I'd say about 77-80 db at one meter.
Do NOT push in the Distortion button! This ruins the integrity of the amp IMHO. I really wish they had designed the Distortion channel to be more subtle. It's not usable unless you shred, even then the tone is bad, fizzy, and obnoxious.
The "Reverb" is not what you might expect. It's a digital BBB type with a short decay. Great for Scottie Moore type early rock sounds. Not good for surf sounds. Still, it does sweeten the tone.
Overall this is a cute little amp (BTW, it does come in Orange, Red, and Blue tolex options)
I will keep it in my den by my studio couch with my Mini-Strat plugged in to noodle around whenever. I might be inclined to record with it since it's so simple and quiet. It satisfied my "amp fix" for the time being!
