I bought these because I dj, but I didn't want to purchase expensive headphones, just ones with good sound. These headphones were very impressive when I received them. The sound was very crisp and the bass was impressive. They would even handle the enormous wattage that my mixer would dump into them. The construction looked solid, they were comfortable and convenient to use (thanks to their reversible cup). Plus, they look great.

I figured I'd by two of these, in case one broke or got lost rather than an expensive Sony which would cost three times as much. After several months, the first set I used stopped functioning properly: one cup stopped producing sound. I then reverted to my backup which worked great for several months before the plastic snapped as I was taking them off.

I don't regret my purchase, because that was the plan. I would use them until they broke. If I had paid several times more for expensive headphones, I may have broken those or lost those as well (it's hard to say). One thing that I really am thankful for is the convenience that two of these provide vs. one expensive pair. At one point I lent the headphones to a friend who didn't give them back to me for several weeks, so having that back-up was a huge convenience.

In summary: The sound is very impressive and comparable to higher end headphones, but the construction is lacking. If you are the type of person who is prone to losing things or if you are afraid of breaking more expensive headphones, these are for you.

Pros:

Sound is actually pretty good.

Cons:

HURTS your ears really badly. After about 15 min your ears will be throbbing with pain.

Super cheap material. It feels like it will break at any moment. Plastic is hollowed out, it has no weight to it and the wiring is so plasticy i barely unravels.

The ones I got looked as if they were used before. Scuffs and dings everywhere.

I regret having bought these mainly because of the pain they cause my ears. I understand the cheap material for a cheap product, but it shouldn't cause me pain. Wish i had just spent a bit more for a better brand.

The sound quality is good, although unlike others, I missed some more bass and maybe a little more volume. Did do a good job cutting outside noises. Como with an adaptor, so you can use them on 3.5mm jacks or the "bigger ones" (the ones you can find in professional sound systems, but I forget their specs...). Build quality seems decent (plastic, but doesn't fell flimsy), although the place where is rotates (a kind of rotator cup) seems like it could brake under little pressure...

Very long cable (which is good), and the last half of it is spiraled like a phone cable...

------

UPDATE: I hardly use, just because the sound is so low and lacking. Also can't use it when doing some light DJing at partys even, because the noise isolation is almost null. The only good thing I have to say about it, is that the build and material are good. Maybe you'll have better luck with a high output mixer...

I bought these headphones and looked foward to receiving them. When they came in, I checked them out and found that one side was several times louder than the other side. I contacted the dealer and got know response. I contacted the Gemini Website and got no response. My advise is to steer clear of these headphones and the dealer I got mine from.

I was really excited to get these headphones because of the DJ brand, specs, and looks, but when I got them, I was kind of disappointed.

Cons: Right off the bat, the bass was a total turn off. Sure I wasn't expecting some mad thumping, bringing down the house type of bass, but a friend gave me a pair of Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 and the bass was deeper with those than the DJX-05. That's right MICROSOFT beat these. That's total embarrassment I would say. The Microsoft ones didn't even have any specifications on them when I looked it up. Gemini advertised these as having 50mm high-output drivers (not sure if it's made of neodymium magnets or not) so I was expecting something higher than consumer level headphones. These sound generic. I messed with the equalizer and when I raised the bass portion, the sound begins to crack or distort.

Minor Con: The cups slightly squeeze my head giving a small pressure to them. I imagined it would give me a headache after long uses. I tried them on for an hour and surprisingly, it just felt the same. Small pressure. The reason why I bring this up is because my head is small compared to other people, so this may or may not hurt for people with larger heads.

Pros: The round cups provide great sound insulation. If people talked in the background, I couldn't understand what they were saying because their voices were muffled. Really smooth leather. Completely fits over my small ears with more room. The cups twist for a more comfortable fit. Just looking at these people will probably think you're hardcore with audio or DJ-ing. The mid and high ranges are nice and clear.

I love the coil cord. When you tap on it, the sound is not echoed to the cups, although there's only 1.25 foot of the coil. from the coil right to the cups is a straight 2.5 foot wire, so i hear noise if i bump it. The cord is also detachable at the cups so if you get tangled up (which is hard to do because of the coil), you can just detach the cord. Gold plated ends.

Comments: These headphones cover the basic human hearing of 20Hz 20 KHz I'm still bummed out about the bass. I'm hoping maybe I could "break" into them and the bass will eventually come.
