I have a camcorder with a 3.5mm input mic jack. I didn't want to deal with bulky XLR mics, so I use this Hosa adapter to split two 3.5mm mics and it gives me two separate audio channels in my camcorder. This setup works great, only problem is that I cannot control the levels independently on my camera. Oh well -can't have everything.

The cable splits the channels perfectly. I haven't noticed any loss of quality from the cables, and they seem to be built sturdily. I bought them so that I could get true stereo sound off of a set of two portable speakers. I plug the male end into the audio source, and the two speakers into each female end, the black is the left channel (conducted through the tip of a TRS jack), the red is right channel (conducted through the ring of a TRS jack.) Previously to buying this one, I bought a little jack from Radio Shack that was supposed to do the same thing, but for some odd reason it's manufactured with the ground in the wrong spot (on the ring, or the tip, instead of the sleeve I think?) and the consequences were that it only worked with non powered devices plugged in (such as headphones) but didn't work with amplified or powered devices (such as rechargeable portable speakers.) But anyways, this item is doing what the Radio Shack item couldn't.Buy HOSA Stereo 3.5 mm Phone Male - Two Mono 1-Tip and 1-Ring 3.5MM Female - 6-Inch Now
Cable works as expected. The material is quality and provides the intended split of left and right channels. I used this to separate the channels for my two x-mini speakers.Male end connects to mini jack plug and the two female ends allow connection of separate speakers for left and right channels.I use this cable to connect my two monitor sound bars to one phone jack on my computer. I only wish it was better shielded as sometimes I can get a slight hum or buzz.

This cable perfectly fit the bill for my home audio setup. Trying to get surround sound from my PC without a receiver, I used this cable to split the Center/Subwoofer channel into two separate outputs, which fixed my problems quickly and made it much more manageable for future projects. The sound quality is unhindered as well.
