I bought this set on sale as a local music store was closeing, I never heard of this brand before, but at 70% off, I couldn't pass it up. I figured at this price it would be ok to practice quitely at the house. I was very surprised when I set it up. it really sounds pretty good. I was used to a roland electric set, and it dosn't have as many bells and whistles in the computer, but we travel and play gigs with it, and it has played very well. a lot of the "voices" are just worthless jokes, but their are a few good sets programed in, and I have set up a couple custom sets I really like. I was looking at spending $15,000 on a roland set, but now I think I may just buy another one of these OSP set and put them together to have all the toms and cymbals I want at one time. I would highly recomend it for beginers to intermediate drummers.Buy OSP DD-502 MKII Digital Drum Set Now
I was hoping more people would go in depth and review this product before i bought one, hopefully people can find something useful here. I live in the barracks where sounds are easily heard. This is also my very first electric sett, i didn't know what to expect. Its an all around OK instrument, nothing outstanding except for the price, becuase any other electric drums run crazy $$$ but i suppose those ARE outstanding. The brain offers a metronome, songs, savable customizable kits, and preset kits, etc. No complaints there except for the fact that it took me awhile to figure out how to program the metronome without playing the song. For some odd reason it would start the click where i wanted it and then it would jump all of a sudden to 250BPM with the song. This only happens when you change the Beats Per Minute from lower or higher. You fix this problem by pressing the click button twice, but you need to do that each time you want to change BPM, which is annoying after awhile.
CONS-This product cannot do rim shots, however it does have a sensitivity to each pad, which makes up for it. The pads are all very responsive, no complaints there, BUT the ride is terrible and the bass drum even more terrible. The ride will not register every time, this lack of consistency really makes me want to replace it. As for the bass drum, sadly its prolly the worse thing on the sett. Same problem like the ride it doesn't register all the beats when hit. This problem has annoyed me so much that Im buying a Roland drum kick to replace it. Beside those two the kit registers everything else fine.
CON-As I said previously people live below, above and to the side of me. The drums are not completely quiet like the Yamaha or Rolands. It makes a wood knocking sound everytime i do a stroke which can be heard outside my door. Not a loud knocking but still it could be quieter. I remedied the problem with buying 8' drum quiet pads. Putting em underneath the head. Theres prolly less than an inch of softness between the metal sensor and the actual drum head. Hit it hard enough and you get that annoying knock.
IMPROVEMENTS MADE ON PRODUCT: Needed to replace bass drum becuase it does not register all the beats. Need to replace the Ride cymbal, becuase it registers like 75% of the time. Need to get quiet pads to counter tapping sounds made by underneath metal sensors.
OVERALL: I guess i get what I pay for, but its not like these problems take a lot for the company to fix. The DD502 Mk ii Electric drum set is great for beginners, but needs basic improvements to be considered high-end for intermediate and above.
Thank you for your time.

I got this drum set over one year ago. I decided to wait to write a review because I wanted to see how it did after some time. I have been drumming for 16 years. I have always played on accustic kits. I decided I wanted an electric kit because I had started playing my drums with my church and I could better control the volume. I went to the local music store and played on a Roland set that was about 3X the price of this set. I knew I wasn't going to buy it but had fun anyway.I got the OSP MK II with the 30 watt amp package. I was afraid at first that the amp would not be loud enough. But I will tell you it will do just fine. Now I will remind you that I play at churches so if you are in a heavy metal band and want to play super loud you may need a bigger amp. In the past year I have played my OSP kit at church Sunday mornings and evenings. I also am in a southern gospel group and we travel to churches to play. I have transported this kit many times and it has done just fine. We usually put it in the back of a van. I keep it mostly all assembled. It is MUCH easier that an accustic set.
As far as the sound goes, I am impressed. It does have the hard heads on the toms and snare but you can not hear this when you have the amp turned up. When I play at church I only need the volume turned to 2 1/2. It goes to a setting of 10. I like how you can assign different sounds to each drum or cymbal and save that setting. For example there are about 10 different snare sounds and 10 for the bass drum, etc. Thats not including all the goofy sounds it has. You can also set the volume for each piece. I have my snare up louder than my toms and my ride louder. The cymbals do rotate and start to angle down no matter how hard you tighten it. But that is the only con. I would recommend this kit. Great price.I just bought a set of these used off of Ebay, and I am pretty impressed with these drums. The sound quality is pretty good, and the brain unit has some nice features like pre-programmed songs to play to, and the ability to set up your own kits. The set comes with both the high hat pedal, and the bass drum pedal (some sets do not). I am a complete beginner on the drums. I have played guitar for years, but wanted to learn how to play drums. This kit gives you a lot for your money for a beginner kit. The only problem I had with the set up is the clamps that hold the toms to the rack are plastic, and I broke one when I tightened it too tight...my fault. The clamps only need to be tightened until the tom is held in place. If you are thinking about a beginner set of electronic drums, you have to give these a look!Purchased this product in 2010. Used it a handful of times. Then, it sat, unplugged from electricity and set up, in an upstairs carpeted room. There were no animals and no kids. Sept, 2012 I plugged it in, turned it on and the MODULE, the main part, simply WILL NOT WORK. The adapter light is on, so I know the adapter works. I contacted the company OSP all they could do was OFFER TO SELL ME A NEW MODULE FOR $125. I already paid $449.00 for the whole kit originally. So, beware again, used it about 5 times, took excellent care of it and it NO LONGER WORKS AT ALL. The whole thing turns about to be A WASTE OF MONEY. The amazon seller 7ballmusic has provided good customer service, however all they were able to do was refer me back to the OSP company. Please, DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT, nor expect the OSP company to help you out when it stops working with minimal use and excellent care.
