The AudioBox Studio is prefect for in home studio recording. I love singing and don't know much about using studio equipment but the AudioBox with software has made it very easy for me to record. Okay, I'm really excited to record stuff. I looked for a kit to listen to instrumental performances of my own for feedback and improvement. Also, I'd like to produce little tracks of voice and audio for small animation projects. So I got this neat little kit. I really would have appreciated a little card saying "set this knob here, and this knob here, and move this knob this way when recording and this way when playing back" because I don't speak Recordingengineerese. Now, when I did crack a couple features, I found out they're freakin' awesome, and I cannot wait to play with them some more.Apparently, however, there's no way to save the work in a useful format unless you upgrade to Pro . . . Yikes! Instead of returning the kit, though, I upgraded, and I'll give it my best shot. I'll try to update this review.
Update:
Okay, I've figured out a bit better how to use Studio One and now Studio One 2 is out (and the Studio 1 Pro Upgrade is now half what I paid). The hardware is fine -nice mic and the usb box is fine, the headphones are okay. I have bound my comments and ratings for this kit cause it's an integrated unit for a novice like me, who wants to unpack the box and start doing stuff. Now I know a little more about DAWs and recording, and the software would be easy to replace with another DAW that's more "Plug-N-Play". I wish I'd read this list of DAWs long ago:
