I think it's too bad that we MUST buy this item. It seems that a keyboard should come with a plug. This set costs less than it would be to purchase the items separately.

The headset is so-so--but it does keep what you are playing private. I think the DVDs are a waste. They are basically ads for computer programs you can buy.

I recently got the Yamaha YPT-330, and was looking for a Power cable and Sustain pedal. When I saw this Survival kit, I was not sure what it was at first. After reading into it, I found it to be a great buy! It included a standard sustain pedal (it is small, and works, but it is nothing special), a power cable (Yamaha brand), headphones (standard over ear), an extended warranty (extends to two years! That was a nice bonus), and some DVDs and software.

I was looking at the price of just the power cables for these keyboards and they were so high, that it was a better buy to get this! The extended warranty is a bonus and is nice and the sustain pedal works, but is nothing special. The headphones work but are also simple over the ear headphones. The DVD videos were interesting, but were not too educational, they mostly talked about Yamaha and there products, the section on MIDI and how to connect to computer is nice and if you are having trouble may be beneficial. The software that came with it did not work on my Mac (I am using Lion), and it was all PowerPC and Mac OS 8/9 software, which does not work on Lion. Since most of it is trial or limited I did not bother trying it on Windows.

In the end, this is a great buy, and the extended warranty, Power adapter and Sustain pedal make this more than worth wild! I highly recommend for new keyboards and from my research, buying this package on Amazon is a lot cheaper than buying the power cable separate (plus with this you get a sustain pedal and extended warranty)!!!!!
