I recently moved into an apartment building and with my schedule the only time I have to play guitar is at night. As it turns out my neighbors are not a fan of me cranking it up to 11 on my larger amp so I figured for 35 bucks why not pick up this little thing. Turns out that this little amp has an amazing sound, way better than a lot of larger more expensive "practice amps(5-25W)" out there. Also do not be fooled by its size you can get a lot of volume out of this thing and though I have nto tried it yet I think it could hold its own at a jam session assuming you have a gentle drummer in the room.

Now that I have talked about how great it is I think a little overview of the controls is in order. On the top it has four knobs, one for volume one for tone, one for drive and one for on and off. If you are a gutarist you probably have already realised that it is pretty simple to use and with a few quick adjustments you can have great tone out of the box. Other than that my only gripe and it is not really a gripe is the handle that is billed as "real working" is actually very tiny but would work great if you are GI Joe

Sound better than amps 2-3 times its size and price.

Volume Works great at low volume to keep the neighbors happy but would be great for jam sessions too

Size Nice and tiny so easy to carry around

Cons:

The handle does not actually work

Its small size means that if you are plugged in it tends to get dragged if you move around too much

Doesn't come with its own power adapter(but it does come with a battery)

A 16th birthday present for my son. Performs as advertised far better (and louder) sound than we could have anticipated in such a small unit. After only one hour of play though, there was a loud rattling. Opening the unit (4x Phillips screws) showed that the speaker previously attached to the plastic casing by 4x tiny glued, self-tapping screws had come loose. Two of the threads in the cheap plastic were completely stripped. the others did not permit adequate tightening. A design flaw.

Because my son liked the performance of the mini-amp so much, using epoxy cement we were able to re-secure the speaker. After the 24 hours curing time, the unit is now 'good-as-new'. Unless you are prepared to intervene as I did, do not buy this product. This was not a one-off manufacturing defect, but a fundamental design flaw. If you are prepared for this annoyance, then this is undoubtedly the best-sounding mini-amp available. While the unit may be manufactured by a supplier offshore, surely someone at Fender should be embarrassed by such poor quality?

I bought this for my 11 yr old grandson. He has a larger one for use at home, same brand, and thinks this one is great. His guitar teacher asked for the information so that he could order one since he travels to all of his students' homes for lessons. We are all very pleased with this amp and would recommend it to others.

The sound that comes out of the Fender Mini Deluxe is better than amps three times its size. I bought this amp to take with me on a deployment and was looking for something that sounds good, is reliable, and doesn't take up much room in a suitcase. This amp exceeded my expectations. This amp can be loud! Much louder than what you would expect from such a small package. But beyond loudness it can be dialed back to a gentle volume and paired with the great tone pot for some really nice acoustic playing. This amp has an input jack on the top beside the volume, tone, overdrive and on/off switch. On the side is a quarter inch headphone jack above the 9v adapter plug. The amp comes set up for a 9v battery only, it would have been nice to come with the adapter, but I suppose that at this price that would have been expecting too much. The body is made of plastic and is molded to resemble the pebble finish of a regular amp. The front is a classy grey cloth. There is even a tiny handle, more for looks than for function, that makes you feel like you are a giant using a regular sized amp. The sound is clear and clean. The overdrive can go from a slight fuzz to a total metal crunch.

The ONLY thing that would make this amp better is if there were reverb. Normally small travel amps offer the ability to have some loudness while you work on some licks and that's it. This amp, with a little reverb, could be someone's regular home practice amp, it sounds that good.

This is definately a buy, and a steal at this price.

You want to sit on the back deck and practice something electric while you barbecue. You've got a big amp, but you don't want the neighbors to complain.

Or you're sitting on the couch and working on that Black Keys version of an RL Burnside song, and you don't want your sweetie to complain during Parks & Rec.

Or you want to busk with a guitar that needs to sound like its going through a Fender amp, but you don't want to haul something big on your back.

Use this. Its a good quality little amp. It sounds very Fenderish, and not as clean and mellow as the aptly-named Honeytone. Battery life is 8-10 hours, depending on how much overdrive you use, and the last hour or so you get a very crunchy "decaying battery" sound without an effects peddle. Using the headphone jack doesn't give you a lot of that overdrive, but it keeps things quiet and you still get most of the Fenderish sound. It does about the same thing for Fender amps that the little Vox amPlug AC30 Guitar Headphone Amp does for the classic Vox amps, but unlike the Vox mini-amp you can hear the guitar without headphones and make it loud enough for reasonably-close people to disagree with the volume.

Don't buy this, however, as a replacement for a bigger amp. Its portable, its got a shortlived battery life (unless you buy e.g. one of those Danelectro DA-1 9.6V AC Adaptors), and it definitely doesn't sound as good as a bigger amp. You can, if you need, get a much bigger 15or 20-watt amp for just a little more. But its perfect for playing slide on the back deck on a Sunday afternoon, and the price won't kill you if you accidentally spill a drink on it.
