I purchased the Able Planet LM1000 Microphone with a pair of the NC500SC headphones. The sound quality of the Microphone and the headphones was excellent for my use and I really like the way they give you cable adapters so that you can use it for a telephone, your xbox or iphone or even for your computer. I had one problem however when I was using it with my laptop. The dual 3.5mm adapter somehow had a problem with the Microphone side of the plug. There are two mail plugs. Not sure how it happened but all of a sudden the Microphone would not work properly.

I called Able planet and their Technical support and customer service are outstanding. The very nice lady that answered the phone was very helpful and she shipped a new adapter to me no questions asked.

Hurray for the return of good customer service to the American Company. Thank you Able Planet for a good product and great service!

Originally I thought that I purchased a flop, but after some tweaking of my system mic settings, it's working perfectly. In the beginning when I called people they could barely hear me and they said that there was a very loud hum. I had to turn off the mic boost and work with the mic effects and now it's fine. Microsoft's speak to type and Rosetta Stone understand everything that I say.

The original cord broke after six months. I tried to find replacement cord and could only find one for $20 + $10 shipping in an online shop. Able Planet charges $40 with shipping for the replacement cord. What a rip-off! As I was ready to give up, and through away the headphone. I found this one from Amazon. I was not sure it will work for me, as my headphone did not have microphone unit. For $15, I would give it a try.

After receiving the microphone, I was able to install it and found my headphone works perfectly and now have a microphone for Skype. It is awesome.

BTW, a generic male to male 3.5mm stereo cord should also work, but the one I got does not always give a good contact. Sound is a bit muffed as well. Does not sound as good as the one make by Able Planet.

The audio quality is very good and I was able to modify this to fit in my Skullcandy Aviator headphones. I'm not a fan of the design but could not find another option.
