Buy the original Rockman SR&D on ebay. Dunlop owns the products now and it is not the same thing as it was in the day. I own the X100, Ultralight, Soloist and Bass Rockman. They all sound amazing.Buy Rockman Guitar Ace Headphone Amplifier Now
Having used the original years ago I was disappointed by the quality (lite plastic housing, hard to open battery bay and terrible hissing even at low levels). I wish I had checked the reviews more carefully before ordering.Read Best Reviews of Rockman Guitar Ace Headphone Amplifier Here
I bought a Dunlop Rockman Guitar Ace to complement my old SR&D Guitar Ace. The only significant physical changes are the Dunlop sticker on the back and the choice of input jack hardware on the control panel. The Dunlop Rockman lacks the SR&D logo on the front of the body.To me, the SR&D and Dunlop products sound alike, in clean and distorted modes. It appears that Dunlop has succeeded in continuing the tradition that Tom Scholz started. The settings are limited, but I think the Guitar Ace still has a great sound when used with decent headphones.
It would be nice to see Dunlop re-release some of the more sophisticated Rockman products, such as the X100 or the Soloist.I had used another headphone amp which had more varied features, but this is the classic of it's kind. Great sound and easy to use. Thanks!I love this little box, I can always use it when my girlfriend gets annoyed that I'm playing to loud. I also love the clarity as well as the distortion on it.
