The electric violin arrived and worked perfectly with the exception of the bow which was entirely too loose to even play properly. Luckily replacement Cecilio bows are relatively cheap so I ordered 2, and used my spare bow from my acoustic violin. It is not completely silent (the strings are still vibrating in the air), BUT it is quiet enough to practice in a closed room across the hall from someone awake and them not hear you. The sound does not resonate through the instrument but rather across the electric pickup, which is volume controlled into headphones or a speaker. The headphones it comes with are really cheap, I'd recommend a pair of Sony's for $12. If you are purchasing this to play in a dorm room or similar situation, be aware that if you have a roommate in the same room they will hear you (and its all faintly buzzing notes, like sawing, which can get aggravating if they're trying to study), but your neighbors will not.

Very well crafted as an instrument. The pickup's tone isn't that great but ran through an effects processor or to a PA with a good EQ and reverb, it sounds very nice and has gotten some great compliments. I highly recommend this product.

This Electric Violin is no Stradivarius but for well under $100 it is much better then I expected.

Perfect for the intermediate student who wants to experiment or for the novice who just wants to play around with an electric Violin.

It came with everything needed to get started and though I am not a professional violin player, I am and have been a professional musician and music teacher for almost 30 years.

It is just what I expected and wanted and the quality was surprisingly good.

Amazing buy for a great product. It came on time and was packed well. I have shown this to several musical friends and they are all jealous of the great violin for an incredible price. I have always wanted to learn to fiddle so the left-hand versus right-hand 'thing' is not an issue for me. I will update as I learn to play.

The violin arrived quickly and was in excellent condition, however it was set up as a right handed instrument. That is to say, that you finger the strings with the right hand and the bow work is done by the left hand. This is completely opposite from the traditional way to play a violin. Thankfully Amazon is easy to deal with when it comes to products that are not properly described. I would definitely say it is a quality electric violin, but as a traditional player I was quite confused by the prospect that it was "backwards." It is my mistake for not double checking everything, but the lack of a more detailed description lead to the assumption it was a standard violin. Oh well. =)
