I'll repeat what I wrote to the seller about the product: "Violin is awesome. Tone is great and the look is really nice. Worth the purchase price for sure. Recommend buying some peg drops for slipping pegs, but that's a mere $7 for a long time supply. Worked for me and only requires minor adjustments before I practice." I would also suggest buying a shoulder rest for it.

So in review:

Absolutely worth buying

Buy some peg drops (~$7)

Buy a shoulder rest (payed $20 at a local shop)

Well, to start off...The strings suck, and so does the rosin. I've played the violin a little over seven years now, and this is good for it's price. It has a nice tone for being so lowly priced, but, not the best. When you play, the strings hurt your fingers(or atleast mine) and your fingers get all black from the neck. But all together it is decent.

I'm amazed that anyone wrote a positive review of this. To start, I attempted to set it up and three of the four strings broke immediately (the fourth would probably have, but I didn't have the heart to give it tension). The bow had about 15 strands of horse hair and is undersized. Two of the pegs were too small for the holes and would never have fit. The audio, when plugged in, was barely audible and the headsets so cheap that I've gotten better ones on airplanes. The supplied rosin was like a pad of plastic and did nothing, so I used some of my own to test the sound quality on the remaining (untuned) string. I'm not a perfectionist, but this was absurd. I can't believe it has so many good reviews. Maybe they used to make it better. Run as fast as you can away from this.

My son loves it and It's a great value for us to buy this since he is using it for fun. He does not use the bow since it is only ok, so he uses his regular violin bow.

The Violin paint is coming off. The string broke before I could get a sound out it. After buying new strings, it is a low quality product.

It gives a clear and honest signal, in my opinion. They're comfortable enough for a regular jam/practice session, and are pretty sturdy. I haven't had them very long, but so far so good. I hadn't heard of CAD audio, so i felt i was taking a chance buying based off of very few reviews, but these deserve a little attention. Good studio monitor headphones, but seem out of place for casual, mp3 listening, as they don't enhance any audio. They give you what's there. So I'd recommend them as a hobbyist keyboardist.

Also they came at an excellent price, so if you need some mixing/instrument headphones on a budget, these are a good choice.

These headphones will be 5 stars for me if the band wears in a little. right out of the box they squeeze a bit to tight for me. the sound is complete though.

It is hard to find good headphones and I thought I had found a hidden gem after reading the previous six ratings, all 5 stars. First they were bulkier than I expected. Then after putting them on the ear pieces don't fit quite right and the cushion does not have much cush to it. The sound is ok but nothing special. In short, I feel I overpaid for these things.

I needed headphones for recording my songs on an 8 track digital recorder. I was using a set of Ear Candy phones. These blow the Ear Candys out of the water. Great phones and a steal at the price. I can hear all of the tracks so much better with these. They are very comfortable. I'll be buying another pair.

For playing and recording at home I literally don't need anything else. I can get any sound I want out of this with any effect that I normally use. I set this up in my living room and have not been back to my practice room since then in over 1 month. It's a beautiful little amp. The sound quality is excellent, can get clean as you want and dirty as hell. I can get it to "sound" huge while keeping the volume neighbor friendly. And it is very dynamic. Using my stock tele and my modified one the amp behaves the same if I dig into an open chord it gets a deep smooth crunch then I can pick a few notes and they ring out clear and clean all on the same amp and guitar settings. I've run it on batteries and with the wall wart. With the batteries it tends to pick up more hum, maybe the wall wart chord grounds it better? Anyway, I was almost going to buy a $900 amp little clean amp when I decided on this for the other features. I would buy this again immediately with no hesitation or questions, and I would recommend it to every guitar player. Who could not use one of these somewhere?

I'm not a professionalI'm just a person who really loves her music, and I don't know much of anything the specs on this pair of headphones. What I can offer is what I did and how these headphones sound from an average person's point of view.

First off, I got this pair of headphones about a year ago, and I got them for about $130, tax included. When I got them, they sounded pretty good; just about as good as my pair of skullcany ink'd earbuds (those earbuds are pretty awesome even though they do break after about three months). Before purchasing the headphones, I read a couple reviews about how this pair of headphones need to be "burnt in". I did some research on google, and found out what "burning in" was (basically you plug in the headphones and play white noise/ pink noise for a certain number of hours). So I burnt in my headphones for about 60 ish hours (I wasn't really countingI was just playing the noise while I labored over homework). To my surprise, they sounded better after that. The m50 headphones actually gets better as it ages (the voices get crisper, the sounds sound more natural).

Honestly, I love this pair of headphones (they sound way better than my (5th) pair of skullcandies now) for several reasons:

I don't feel them after a while. It feels like I'm just plainly not wearing them

The material's comfortable (I have really flat straight hair and an average head) and isn't too big or small.

The sound quality is amazing. I'm not kidding when I say that the voices are so much crisper. The sound quality is really balanced too. The skullcandies tend to put more emphasis on the well, heavier side of music (beats, etc). A classical piece sounds as good as say a deadmau5 song though the m50's (which is pretty darn good).

The headphone jack is really well built. It's not going to fall apart like my skullcandies anytime soon.

A couple things that might be helpful to know:

The cord's insanely long. I had to get a ribbon to tie up most of it. Otherwise I end up tripping on it or tangling it.

The sound quality's still really amazing at low volumes. My ears are really sensitive (more than an hour or two with the skullcandies at the lowest volume on my I-pod will make my ears feel awful), and the m50's don't hurt my ears. I listen to the m50's for 4-5 hours a day, and my ears are fine (the volume is usually on 2-4 on my laptop, which is a Dell Studio).

I wear glasses, and after a while, the glasses frame will leave an indent on the sides of the headphone cushions. I wouldn't advise wearing flimsy plastic frameless glasses with this pair of headphones.

The headphones block sound pretty well. When I put them on, I definitely can't hear my mom talking (sorry, Mom). I can hear her voice if she shouts, but I can't make out the words. I travel with my family a lot, and the headphones did a good job blocking out the airplane noise.

These fold in pretty well. It took me a while to figure out how they fold in since they can flip, turn, and twist in every which way.

What I actually listen to: J-pop, J-rock, rock, pop, classical, techno, a bit of country, well, a bit of everything.

The only thing I'm worried out for this pair of headphones is where the cord connects to the left "ear cup". It's not as strong as the headphone jack. I guess it's not supposed to be?

I don't have any other pair of headphones, so I don't really have anything to compare the m50's to, but if the price ever falls below 130, I'd get a second pair (my current pair never leaves home). Some of the old reviews say that these headphones used to be below 100, but I doubt that the price would ever fall that low again. I should probably stop procrastinating and get back to my homework now.

I've had these headphones for about a week and a half now, and I love 'em. They are not ideal for all listening situations, however. I typically use the M50s with a FiiO E11 Portable Headphone Amplifier connected to my iPad via a FiiO L3 Line Out Dock (LOD) Cable, or connected to my laptop via the cable the E11 comes with (which plugs into the headphones/audio out jacks on computers, MP3 players, iPads and iPhones, etc). This gives me great sound when I listen to various alternative and rock stations through the TuneIn Radio app for iPad or to lossless music on my laptop. But when I watch a movie on my iPad or laptop, I prefer to listen through my Sennheiser HD555 Professional Headphones, because they have a better soundscape than the M50s. Open back headphones, such as the 555s, typically have more spacious soundscapes than closed back headphones such as the M50s. ("Soundscape" refers to perception of distance from the source. If an automobile is approaching from the rear left in a movie scene, with the 555s I can easily discern its location and can hear/"feel" its approach, whereas I do not get such a sense of depth or soundscape with the M50s. But when listening to rock with the 555s, I do not get the sense of immediacy and presence nor anywhere near as much bass as I do with the M50s, which is why I'm glad I own both headphones.)

I wanted the straight cable version of the M50s because of previous experience with coiled headphones cables becoming stretched out and unsightly over time. The straight cable is 11 feet long, which means that it needs to be folded up and rubber-banded or twist-tied when the M50s are used with a portable music player by someone who is out and about or moving around a lot.

I like that the M50 ear pads can be replaced for around $20 a pair (at present, and apparently not through Amazon). I own a pair of Sennheiser HD580s that are now over a decade old, and the ear pads are pretty much worn out, making wearing the 580s very uncomfortable as well as no doubt negatively affecting their audio quality. Replacement ear pads for the 580s cost around $50! (Replacement ear pads for AKG's Quincey Jones Q701 headphones retail for about $35 EACH or $70 a pair!) The M50 headphones are circumaural, meaning that their ear pads cover the ears (as opposed to sitting on the ears like supra-aural headphones), and cover my ears just fine (I'd say that my ears are somewhere between medium and large in size).

And I like that the M50s can be folded up and stored and carried in the soft pleather protective pouch they come with. When folded up the M50s and folded up cable could fit, tightly, in a box that is approximately 5" x 7" x 4".

My hat size is about 7 5/8 (about 23 7/8 inches), and while the M50s fit me fine and are reasonably comfortable, after an hour or so they begin to feel a tad uncomfortable, meaning that I start to get that "clamping" sensation that headphone wearers talk about. At this point I begin adjusting the headphones a bit. Some folks deal with this kind of problem by putting their headphones over, say, a head-sized speaker cabinet to stretch them out, but I'm reluctant to do that because I take it for granted that my head will cause the M50s to stretch over time, and I wouldn't want to risk pushing them in the direction of becoming not tight enough. And as many reviewers of the M50s note, they get hot after a while (very quickly when I wear them while working out on an exercycle or elliptical, otherwise after about an hour). When wearing them during exercise I need to have a towel, rag, or cloth handy in case I need to wipe sweat off the pads. I'm bald but find the headband reasonably comfortable.

I like the M50s for listening to some classical music, whereas there is some classical music that I prefer to listen with the aforementioned Sennheiser HD555s (e.g., opera, which I find benefits from headphones with more spacious soundscapes).

If you are in the market for headphones and are considering the M50s, I recommend that you check out Tyll Herstens' positive (he recommends them) YouTube review of the M50s (which is available both on YouTube and at Mr. Herstens' excellent site, Inner Fidelity; there is also a written review at Inner Fidelity). Mr. Herstens has done some serious technical research on the question of headphone burn-in, and you can find his articles on that at Inner Fidelity (once at the site, search for "burn-in" or "break-in"). If you are interested in reviewing technical data and graphs for headphones, including the M50s, check out the "Build A Headphone Graph" section in the "Learning Center" of the HeadRoom site. There you can create and compare graphs for up to four different headphones at a time.

Finally, the M50s are marketed as offering "maximum isolation," so how good are they at noise isolation? I wouldn't wear them for noise-cancelling purposes (we don't want to confuse noise-isolating headphones with noise-cancelling headphones; see the Wikipedia entry for noise-cancelling headphones for more information), such as when I ride my lawn tractor. They are too nice for such use, but if I didn't care about that I would still prefer my AblePlanet active noise-cancelling headphones for such use, because they work really well at blocking out loud noise like the sound of a lawn tractor. The M50s are more than adequate for noise-isolation when I use an exercycle or elliptical, and probably do offer the maximum amount of noise-isolation that closed-back headphones which are not active noise-cancelling headphones can offer.

These are the best sounding headphones I've had, even right out of the box, and the bass showed noticeable improvement after only a few hours of use.

They're light, comfortable, and have amazing clarity even with their bass response. No muddy bass at all, it sounds crisp and heavy even at lower volume. They're a noticeable improvement over the other sets I have, a Grado SR80i and Sennheiser HD280 Pro's; the construction seems better than the 280's, too, with solid mountings and rotation on the cups and a reinforced cable at the jack. The cable is long enough to reach across my living room to my receiver with extra slack to spare, and with this straight cable version I don't get the tangles I have with my 280's.

All around great headphones, and I'm really happy with them. Awesome music headphones, but the clarity makes them great with dialog in movies and the bass in games is powerful without being overbearing.

These headphones are great! I chose these since I didn't want the coiled cord version (I think it looks tacky in the year 2011) but they are identical in every other way to the ATHM50. These are great all-around headphones, and you'd be hard pressed to find anything at this price-point to give you an all-around experience aside from open headphones (Grado SR125i being one of the open headphones at this level to potentially challenge the ATHM50S).

Sound: 4.5/5

Wow. I prefer these to its famed open "little" brother, the ATH-AD700 due to more accurate and tight sounding audio. It sounds great, the bass can be heard and is not muddy. However, if you prefer bass like Beats headphones, these are going to be a little disappointing, as they don't bring skullcrushing bass. There is no lack of bass, however, as Daft Punk bass gets the drivers bouncing with lots of bass. Now, I know these are closed headphones, but the soundstage is a bit lacking. I personally don't mind as much, but for those that like immersion in their music, a quiet environment with open headphones will be better for you. If you just need seclusion and want to listen to music in a louder environment or want to be considerate to others, these headphones are going to fit all but the pickiest Basshead (I missed the call for dinner a few times with these on, and trust me, I was quite hungry at the time). Very balanced sound.

Comfort: 4.75/5

These headphones are nice, and I can wear them for hours. The issue with this is that they can get a pit warm on your ears (sometimes I think my earwax feels like its melting, but maybe I just want that to happen because I think that would be cool). Now, those with large ears and/or ears that stick out might find these a little small or constricting, but for me, they fit just fine.

Value: 5/5

Unless you go to open headphones at this price-point, you won't find better overall headphones. These aren't the best possible headphones you could find, but then you're talking about $500+ headphones. Check out head-fi and audiophile forums. These get quite a lot of praise, and are frequently considered the best at this price point, and the quality of these headphones shows it.

After researching lots of closed back cans and listening to several I agree with all the other rave reviews for these. The ONLY criticism I could say is that they don't have a removable plug. For sound quality though you will have to spend north of $500 to come close to these. DONT waste $$$ on Beats! It's just marketing.

I wanted a very sturdy high-quality cable, and this is perfect. Don't buy this if you want a thin, light, flexible cable. It's thicker and heavier than a standard light-duty AC cord in the USA. A joy if that's what you want.

After years of frustration with other headphone extension cords I took a chance on this model. I am somewhat of an audio snob and really like to hear the nuances in music. I don't notice any degradation in quality. It is VERY durable. I have stepped on it, got it caught inside the underside of my chair, etc. Cord is still working fine. I also like the fact that it isn't coiled. You get the full length right away. Quite a good value at this price.

I bought this because I have trouble hearing the TV and I've already tried various wireless headphone devices without success. Those that required batteries used them up fast, especially when I didn't remember to turn the unit off. Then, they had to be synced every time I changed the batteries. Others needed to be recharged between sessions and would run dry in the middle of a movie. Others had the hardware built into the headphones making them heavy and requiring replacement of the whole system when the headphones wore out.

Finally I discovered this little headphone amp and I couldn't be happier. To my slightly inadequate ears, it sound very clear and it has far more amplification that I can ever use. My wife uses one of the other outlets occasionally and, of course, there's a couple of spare jacks if I have any hard-of-hearing company. It has a power supply so no more piles of dead batteries.

I'd recommend it for anyone who wants to get a boost or extra ports for any device. It's amplification is far greater than any of the devices I tried that are made for personal music players. Although it has 1/4" output jacks, you can buy 1/4 to 3.5 adapters for pennies on Amazon and have an amp that will work with the more common size for an incredible price.

I'm using the headphone amp at the end of a cheap 30 foot cable but it still works very well and the volume controls are smooth and without static. The amp puts out more sound than my ears can, or should take. Unlike most of the other devices I tried, it has the power to drive any headphones I want, including noise cancelling. Finally I can enjoy a movie and hear what everyone is saying.

Do not let the size fool you. This is a very handy piece of equipment and it's so easy to set up and use. Just plug a 1/4 inch stereo cable into your sub out on your mixer and then into the HA400, then plug in up to 4 pairs of headphones and your set to track overdubs. This is perfect for a small home studio on a budget and it's built like a tank. Be forewarned that this a very basic headphone distribution system, you can only adjust volume from the HA400 and it would be wise to purchase a real long 1/4 stereo cable and extensions for the headphones if you want to isolate vocals.

Perfecto for My Needs!!! I was looking for an affordable way to use my Audiotechnica headphones on my computer when not using them on my personal music production gear. I just wanted to listen to tunes off my computer using my favorite H-phones. Unfortunately, as you all know, many laptops lack the "umpf" to power a pair of H-phones such as the above mentioned. I looked through the various makes and models considering price and feedback and decided on the HA400. With a price of under $20 and 4 input channels to plug in other things such as my computer speakers, I figured, "Why Not?"

I tested it out as soon as I received it and was not disappointed. There was not just a noticeable difference,.. There was a "Mega-Difference" in volume output! The volume was so high that I was on the verge of blowing out my external pod speakers. I set both the H-phone and speaker levels at my preferred max on each channel and am now using the computer's volume switch as the main volume adjustment...the rest is history.

THINGS I RECOMMEND THAT YOU CONSIDER PRIOR TO BUYING THE HA400!!!

1. Though the thing is compact (will post pics showing the dimensions), it is not portable in the sense that you can listen to it on a road trip or on a bus headed to work. It runs soley on a DC 12 volt adapter and not on batteries.

2. There is no power switch... Be prepared to hook it up to a power strip or buy a cheap foot switch if you want to turn it off using a switch rather than having to unplug it.

3. You will need to buy proper adapters if you are using anything other than 1/4" male plugs. If you want to use 1/8" (3.5mm)standard plug for a portable device such as laptop, then you will need a 1/4" (6.3mm) Male to 1/8" (3.5mm) Female adapter.

4. You will need an Output / Input cord with one end 1/4" (6.3mm) Male to plug between your device and the HA400. It does not come with one.

5. If you are a hardcore anal-retent about your audio quality, (ie. an audiophile), remember that this is not an EQ. All it does is split one output into 4 and amplifies the sound and it does it well.

6. Other posters have experienced some degree of background noise, depending what you pug into it, you may also... As for me, I have yet to experience any discernible background noise. As far as I'm concerned, I'm happy with the pure sound being amplified.

7. Remember that this thing was made for headphones and anything else such as hooking up speakers to it is basically "Jimmy-rigging". I hooked up speakers and had no problems dispite others having some.

8. Again, I rate this item with 5 full stars because it was perfect for my needs. I can see how others may give it a lower rating on the basis that it was not what they expected to fulfill their own needs. As for me, if I could dedicate a song to this unit it would be, THE CARS, "You're Just What I Needed"...LOL.

Want Behringer HA400 4-Channel Stereo Headphone Amp Discount?

I bought this unit because I have a movie room setup with surround sound but it is next to one of the bedrooms where my grand children sleep when they come over. We still want to watch movies while they sleep so I bought this amp in order to drive 4 (or more w/splitters) headphones from the main audio amplifier headphone jack on the movie setup. I just use a 1/4" extension cable to feed the Behringer HA400 amp and I am able to feed each headphone set with their own volume settimg limit. To top it off, each headphone has its own volume adjust so each listener can monitor their own loudness while the HA400 keeps the max volume capped to where I set it. The sound for movies is spectacular and this little amp has enough power to hurt your hearing if you let it. I am extremely happy with this little unit. It is small and can easily be moved with the cables as one reviewer has already said but in my situation I used sticky back velcro and attach it to the back of a little end table we have between the chairs. I don't listen to a lot of music through headphones so I really can not give an honest review of that but for movie watching, I Love It.

I just got this little box in order to do a sesson with some of my buds. It seeps to work and sound ok (not extreme amplification) but the power supply plug fits very loosly (hence the low rating) so I had to use a rubber band to hold it in. Seems most Berringer equipment these days is getting lower and lower in quality. This may be my last Berringer purchase. Better off with Roll for this kind of equpment.

Purchased this for a small home DJ setup that needed separate monitor level control from the main mix. It is well suited for the task, and setup was easy and not complicated. The controls provided are exactly what I needed.

The downside is that it has a lot of crosstalk. Even with all speakers turned off it still passes a bit of audio through to them. For a while I was searching for a pair of hidden headphones before realizing it was the monitors themselves. The audio is very clear and dim, but easily noticeable. The source of the audio doesn't even have to be active on the mix for the crosstalk to occur having ST1 active, ST2 off, and no speakers selected I can easily hear the ST2 source out of the speaker outputs.

For my application this is OK as a DJ stand very rarely will there be anything coming out of both sources (one is the main mix, the other is an output from a PC), but it annoys me quite a bit. One person also has commented that the system now sounds hollow, something that was not noticeable before; a sub was moved to the main mix out instead of in the monitor chain, so there was a small difference in the monitor setup, but the sub was active at the time the comment was made (from the main out mix).

I have yet to really do a good comparison, but so far I am just average on the product it does exactly what I wanted, but seems to color the audio a bit and the crosstalk really concerns me. I can't be sure that the main out doesn't have the same issue yet (haven't tested), but I just really didn't expect that.

By far one of my favorite pieces of gear in my studio. This works perfectly to communicate with vocalists in the vocal booth. The multiple speaker options, the meter read out, the aux input. It's all come in handy for me and I couldn't picture working in a studio without it. I absolutely love this device.

Although of sturdy metal construction, mine had a soft foot, which was fixed with a little physical persuasion and a some extra rubber on the one slightly elevated corner. The rubber alone would probably have done it. Low on extra rubber feet and patience, both worked out just fine. So it also passed a stress test with flying colors. Hopefully there won't be a drop test.

Anyway, I'm really surprised how useful this item became after purchasing it. Recording directly to a computer was leading to a problem with interfacing multiple inputs and outputs. I was considering an internal PCI solution with an external harness, but even then, the tether was looking really short and I didn't want to have to crawl behind the computer for every time I switched ins or outs.

Monitors are great for mixing, but usually pretty sparse on bass. Not having a trained ear, or used to monitors, it's extremely convenient to be able to get a bass reference at the push of a button. "This is how it sounds stark clear and honest ". At the push of a button "this is how it sounds with sub-woofer and how I'm used to hearing music". I still need that crutch for leveling bass guitar and kick drums. Granted I'm a novice, but if there is any influence of the purity of the source sound, I certainly can't hear it.

There are two (left/right), 1/4" "ST1"/"ST2" and one RCA (left/right) inputs (The aux input has it's own "input" level adjustment. I'm using one for my sound interface mains MOTU UltraLite-MK3 Hybrid FireWire/USB2 Audio Interface , one for the return and the aux RCAs, on an old mixing deck.

Both the the "Main and "Cue"outputs, have individual options of using any combination of the three "ST1", "ST2", or "AUX (RCA) " inputs. The "Cue" mix has it's own main level knob and the large center knob, controls the level for the whole unit. In addition there are three dedicated "A", "B", "C", outputs. Each has it's own level adjustment, so there's no problem keeping consistent volumes with different speaker sets, monitors etc 8" Monitor Speaker . There are four, 1/4" stereo headphone jacks, each with a button selecting either "Main or "Cue" as the source, with individual level knobs for each. The internal microphone works great across the cue mix, which also has it's own individual level adjustment and an XLR adapter is provided on the back, for an external "Talk" microphone.

I'm extremely satisfied with this unit and regardless of any upgrades I may have in the future, as long as I'm dealing with any analog source whatsoever, I can see it being invaluable for years to come.

PreSonus is known for making quality equipment at a reasonable price and the Monitor Station is no exception. I use mine as the center of my DAW monitoring system to A/B mixes between pro near field monitors, consumer grade home stereo speakers, and small computer speakers. But, the unit can be used in several different ways. Totally worth the price.

I received these today. I have several blue-tooth devices so it seemed a perfect fit. Seldom have I been so impressed by a piece of electronic gear. I already had a set of headphones for my iPhone/iPad and the sound quality is really good. But these headphones put my old ones to shame. They are that terrific.

As an old rock n' roller my tunes are quite important to me. I have a large selection of 60s & 70s music. These headphones rank as probably the best I've ever used bar none. And I grew up working in theatre and with rock bands that had commercial equipment costing tons of money. Nothing I've ever used had better audio quality than these phones.

But here's the clincher for me: in the middle of testing these out my sister called. Off went the music and Barbara was in my ear, clear and plenty loud and she could hear me fine. At the end of the call, the play button started the Eagles again.

Whatever you're looking for in a set of phones for your devices, you owe it to yourself to check these out.

They're worth every penny.

Before I start my review, I want to say thank you very much to Mike at Meelectronics for his excellent service and followup.

I have tried this headphone for 3 weeks and I'm loving everything about it. The battery life on it is very good as I can keep listening to music without having to charge it for a day and that's pretty impressive. I had two Bluetooth headphones and they usually last about 3-4 hours so comparing this to the Matrix, that's a big difference. Also, it has a neat function where it would auto turn off itself when it notices I'm not listening to any music or not using it at all.

The ear buds is another thing I'm surprised at because I wouldn't expect them to be that soft. Judging from the picture of the Matrix, I thought it would be slightly hard but it was soft like a marshmallow. However, you would need to take some time to position them well on your ears as you may feel uncomfortable if you were to listen or wear them for a long time. Since your ears may not be entirely inside the area so it would be good idea to properly put them on before using it.

The sound quality is awesome on these headphones and it has good volume of sound coming from it where I do not need to increase the volume that high to listen to it when I walk to my lectures. However, once awhile when I walk with them the sound would stutter for a few seconds so I'm not sure if it's my phone or headphone. The stuttering is not a big issue since it is only a few seconds and not frequent enough. Moreover, It wouldn't stutter if I were to sit down at one spot and listen to it so you may experience this if you were to walk with them.

I have no problems with connecting two phones on this headphone where one phone is for calls whereas the other for music.

Overall, if you're looking for a good Bluetooth headphone with good battery and sound then this is it for you. This headphone is worth every penny and you won't regret it.

These are great multi-purpose headphones. I'm using them to listen to music and instead of ear buds or an in-the-ear bluetooth device for talking on the phone. Today I used them for my radio show and the sound was great, clear, full range and more than loud enough. But to get a second opinion, I asked my son to check them out. He's a sound engineer who has multiple listings on IMDB for movies and network TV shows he does the sound for. He complimented them too.

The sound is excellent, the battery life decent and the controls easy to use and understand.

I also like that the remaining battery charge is shown on my iPhone.

I got these headphones for 89 and at that price they are an incredible deal. They are light and pretty comfortable. They dont press on ears too hard like some do. They do sound good and will sound great to the average consumer. For bluetooth headphones i guess they are even a good deal at the full price considering bigger brands are charging for the same quality. I have used beats wireless jabra revo wireless and these compare to them even though the others are over $200. I have also used the new beats studios and bowers and wilkins p5 both of which are $300. The $300 ones probably sound better and built better but if your not an audiophile save your money cause the difference is not that much in sound quality. Plus having no wires is a great thing and if the battery dies you can use a regular aux cable and use them as wired headphones which is a big plus to most people. I was surprised at the lightness of the headphones too, they are very lightweight.

Im doing this review with no pants on! Tell the world my story

I'll start off by saying that I'm a proud owner of:

Gibson ES125 Acoustic/Electric

Pono MSD-E

Blackheart BH5H

Blackheart BH110

A Weber Vintage Series 10A125 (10 inch, 8 ohm, 30 watts) in an open back, solid pine cabinet

A Jensen Mod 10-50 (10 inch, 4ohm, 50 watts)

All tube Fender Tweed Champ

Now that you know the gear I have, what I can play through an amp, and what I can plug an amp head into, I'll sum up my review with this:

What you get out of this amp is completely dependent on your speaker cab, the cables you use, and how clean your power is. Got good gear? This little amp will sound great.

The Details

The amp itself is tiny. I have an Electro-Harmonix pedal that's bigger than this amp! Still, it packs a punch. With the gain at about 1/3 up and the volume at half, I get great clean tone and enough volume for a small venue. Crank the gain up more and it gets louder and more distorted as you go. Yes, this little amp will go from Jazz & Country to Rock & Metal with a twist of a dial.

The line in and headphones jacks are a nice touch that none of my other amps have. If you want to quietly play along with some tunes, you can. Practice time just got better for your neighbors.

The one lone tube in the Micro Terror is the pre-amp tube. Mine came stock with a JJ Tubes 12AX7. I understand that's standard. A JJ is nice, but it will *not* warm up this little hybrid enough for you to get even a whiff of tube tone. Dig out an old Phillips, RCA, Sylvania, or GE to get this guy to sound a bit like its big brother. I had an old GE made in Great Britain lying around and popped it in my Micro Terror: warmed it right up; cleaned up a bunch of high-end tinniness.

Still, compared to my two-tube BH5H or my all tube Champ, this guy does sound more solid state than anything. BUT, compared to a buddy's Roland and solid state Ampeg, it's downright mellow.

No effects loop means that your time-based effects (reverb, echo, chorus) can get noisy. So, if you like pedals, stock up on 9 volt batteries to avoid power adapter noise add in.

Speaking of power adapters: a previous reviewer is right. The external power brick for this guy seems fragile. I'm not a fan of the thin line from the brick to the amp. It's holding up, but one round with my cat and I'll be looking for a new power supply.

The Rub

Annoyance #1: One cheap cable anywhere in the mix will result in annoying HISS even at low volumes. I found that out quickly. So, get a proper speaker cable and a high end instrument cable or you will hate this amp. I'm running it with a GLS 12 gauge speaker cable and a Planet Waves American Stage instrument cable both available here at Amazon or any good guitar shop.

Annoyance #2: This is a 20 watt amp, right? WELL... if you don't run a 4ohm speaker, you won't get all 20 watts. The Micro Terror self-adjusts to the power needed to drive your speaker by stepping down output. (Yes yes... don't quote physics to me.) At 8ohms, I still get good volume. But at 16ohms (like my BH110) it sounds like a 5 or 7 watt amp. That said, I'm actually a fan of the tone I get with my 8ohm Weber in its pine cab. The 8 inch Jensen speaker in my Champ, while nice, can't put out the low notes like I'd prefer and the Jensen Mod 10-50 is TOO clean. But the Weber 10A125 sounds fantastic to my ears; even with the loss in volume.

Annoyance #3: The Micro Terror is so small and so light, it'll tumble right to the floor if anyone kicks your chord. Unlike a nice 20 pound amp, the chord won't pull out. So: BE CAREFUL.

Mitigation for Annoyance #3: The all steel chassis can handle a tumble from three feet up onto hardwood floors... though, it will gouge your floor.

And then there's the standard annoyance that comes with owning any guitar amplifier: if the power is noisy or ungrounded, you will wind up with hiss no matter what. I always carry a Monster HTS 350 and run my amp through it; that REALLY helps in cleaning up signal noise. (If you don't have one, get one. The 300 & 350 are cheap and they work.)

The Summary

After all that, I can still say: I love this little amp! I've gigged with it and it sings well. Plus, the added gag of tiny ukulele + tiny amp always draws a laugh... until I crank the dial over and shred some faces.

For the price, you can likely afford to pick up $40 worth of guitar/speaker chords and wind up with a healthy rig. And, for the price, this is a solid 4 star amp. I know I'm happy.

I got one after reading reviews and hearing YouTube demos. Very cool and, yes, very tiny. I use it into with 212 Celestion cab and the level of volume you can get is unbelievable. I haven't confirmed it, but I'd risk saying it's powerful enough to gig with a full band if you can deal with people laughing about how tiny and cute it is. There is some noise when it's cranked, but that's kind of to be expected. The best part is that it sounds almost as good as an all-tube amp and it's only a fraction of the cost. Glad I took the plunge.

This thing is a great sounding amp and NOT a toy. I have a tiny terror and this thing is very close. I play it out of a vox t112tv cab, that i use for my tiny terror and it sounds great. Its a great practice amp. ive got the 8'' orange speaker cab on the way. so i cant speak for it yet. ive heard they can push a 412 with no trouble. this amp takes pedals well to and this amp smokes the crush amps, so if you got the little extra $. i would go with this. killer tone from orange and its cool as hell.

Recently built a 2x12 celestion cabinet. My first non combo amp setup. I also had never played tubes before. Did some research and came across this little lunchbox sized amp. I personally was looking for an amp that had a good clean channel. I get all my effects and gain threw my pedalboard so I was not concerned with a high gain amp with a million knobs and buttons. This amp was ecactly what I needed. The tube preamp definately comes threw when cranked. For only 20watts RMS its loud! I have never been past 12 o clock. hooked up to my 2x12 inch 100 watt cab it holds its own to say a Crate/Marshall solidstate 100 watt half stacks. I am very pleased. For $150 your not going to find a better tube hybrid. I highly recomend checking out the rest of the Orange Terror amps. There is a big price jump to fully tube but this will definately give you a good taste of Tube vs solid sound. Dont expect to get all your tone with just the amp. If your looking for metal type gain this will simply highlight what your feeding into it. Its eather Clean and crisp or edgy crunch with this amp. And the tone knob does a good job at eq and shape. I havent jammed with drummer yet but Id feel comfortable gigging a small club venue with this. Before I thought my Line 6 spyder 2 was all I would ever need. Now that I understand the difference older tube technology cane make to your tone Ill never play a solid state unless I must. This amp is tiny but dont let it fool ya. It sounds great threw a 8 inch practice box but you unleash its potential threw a full cab. I also highly recomend a BBE Sonic Maximizer pedal. It will add that punch you wont know how you ever did without. A sonic max will make a descent amp sound like a high end Marshall, and a great amp sound like a Mesa Boogie. It acts like a comp/eq/sustain/drive pedal and makes a clean signal crisp and a dirty one not so abysmal.

At list $150 this is cheaper than most of my pedals, so with an extra speaker cabinet laying around, this was too hard to pass up. It doesn't take much to drive this amp into raging distortion. No pedal I own is capable of producing the huge, vintage, creamy mid-range, saturated sound that this little monster is capable of. It's a personal taste maybe, but I love it for leads and it has been loud enough to cut through loud drums with my cabinet miked. Also it is light enough to carry with 1 finger, something of value for us older folk. On the down side, it does not do clean very well. Some good videos on YouTube check them out.

I've been using it as a second amp, running it off of an AB-Y switch from my pedal board. My main amp is a Dr Z M12 + JBL-E120 (1x12) which I can set crystal clean and then switch to (or add in) the Terror for saturated lead sounds, which I currently have paired with an Alnico Blue (1x12). This makes it possible to have a setup where the speaker matches the amp head in a footprint similar to any 2x12 combo.

I do not have much experience with comparing of headphones, but I simply adore these. I use these beyerdynamic DT 880's mainly for listening to music (but they are also great for movies as well). I use them mainly in combination with my (humble?) NAD C-352 Stereo Integrated Amplifier for listening to CD's and DVD's. I have not yet tried them in combination with a headphone amplifier plugged into a mobile player or computer, but directly connected to the NAD C-352 they sound just wonderful, certainly the best I have personally heard so far but I do have a limited budget ;-).

These DT 880's from beyerdynamic are actually only my second pair of high-end (?) headphones I have ever owned. Actually, my preferred way of listening to music is via headphones. I live on my own, I do have a pair of wonderful speakers (the exquisite, clean and clear-sounding Monitor Audio Silver RS6 in a sense they sound quite like the headphones under review here), but one does have to take the presence of neighbours into account ;-) For those reasons I expect and are constantly on the lookout for the best (for as far as my relatively limited wishes are concerned). I think I now may have found it.

My 'infatuation' with the luxury of 'best possible sound' reproduced by headphones began only a few years ago, when, after careful consideration, I decided to buy myself a pair of Grado SR-80's. I think they are simply some of the best not even taking into account the 'low' price of this set (certainly for such great sound). But as goes in these things, somehow I wanted even more, like maybe a little less harsh or direct sound (more 'rounded') and a better sense of soundstage (both very desirable for things like opera and symphonic/orchestral music), while at the same time retaining the same clarity and refinement of the Grado SR-80's, and so I began to look out for something even 'better'. Better is of course a relative term, certainly when comparing these two wonderful sets of (differently priced) headphones, both with their own distinctive 'character'.

ABOUT THE QUALITY THEY OFFER. These DT 880's are more expensive than the Grado SR-80's, but they are indeed better: they do offer more for the extra money (they are about twice the price, but certainly worth it, IMHO, certainly if one can spare the money). Well, they certainly sound different. To me, the DT 880's sound finely analytical, but at the same time 'relaxed' and 'civilized' or 'refined', offering a fine balance between the highs, middles and lows, without favoring any of those in any obvious way, thereby 'drowning out' any other element within the sound picture, like singing voices (which are, actually, like everything else, reproduced wonderfully crisp and clear, revealing more of their finer nuances and details than other headphones). I certainly like this very much; it is just what I want. Nothing is ever too much 'in your face' and at the same time you get the chance to hear a wealth of detail without getting fatigued. This last thing may have something to do with the fact that the reproduced sound is set unlike any other set of headphones I have ever tried (up to now) within a naturally wide and open soundstage: the feeling of 'as if you were there yourself', especially pleasant with opera-recordings and movies. This quality of the DT 880's is especially obvious in (live) recorded performances set within a wider acoustic space. The natural and honest sound-reproduction really pays great dividents here: one does really get a sense of the acoustics of the space the recording was made, adding greatly to the enjoyment, at least to this particular listener.

Maybe one slight 'disadvantage' of this honesty of reproduction may to some people be that any possible shortcomings of a recording (like hiss in analogue recordings) also become somewhat more apparent than with other headphones. But I personally have not found this to be annoyingly so, comparing the difference with my other headphones.

IMHO, one cannot go wrong with these headphones. They are really, really great. They offer an extremely clear, honest, wide-ranging and detailed sound picture that is extremely pleasing and refined (don't read 'bland'!) to the ear, but which truly brings out the best in any recording of any kind of music, I think.

I have grown to love them. If you can or would only want to spare the money for just one great set of high-end headphones that will serve all your needs, then these are the ones, I believe. Please try these for yourself and be amazed. Highly recommended.

Although I prefer the AKG K701 for most of my listening, this competing entry from Beyer is so close that it's almost a coin toss. (One recent comparison in a headphone artcle came up with a dead heat.)

This is surprising, considering that the DT880 is one of the most reasonably priced of the major mid-priced headphones. The bass is full but nicely textured not a touch of bass bloat to be found here. The highs are detaied and never seemed sharp to me, and the overall sound offers a huge soundstage. Instead of the music being on top of your, these Beyers lend a perceived distance of a few feet; ths makes classical music sound doubly elegant, and surprisingly makes rock music grandiose in an appealing kind of way.

These headphones don't require a headphone amp, but certainly profit from one. The 30 ohm version makes for more volume, though the 250 ohm version is standard, and best for most daily listening.

The DT880 sounds great, but lacks a tad of the K701's high-end sparkle. Conversely, Beyer's value, comfort, and workmanship can't help but impress. This is a phone that has labored under the shadow of the AKGs and the Senn 650s, but listeners are always impressed by the DT880s sound. It may be your best value in a mid-priced, all-purpose headphone.

Buy Beyerdynamic DT-880 Pro Headphones (250 Ohm) Now

These sound wonderful, especially when driven by a quality headphone amp. Top to bottom, lows, mids and highs, these headphones reproduce all types of music faithfully. The presenation and soundstage are a bit forward of what Sennheiser offers, but not so pronounced as to conflict with more sweeping classical pieces. Even on high-engergy rock music, they shine.

The comfort is top-notch, though if you haven't worn full-size over-the-ear (circumaural) headphones, anything in this class will require an adjustment. The round earpads do allow a variety of positions, whereas other 'phones with oval pads may form to your head slightly better, they do not allow variation in position.

The Sennheiser HD650 may edge out this headphone in ultimate performance, but not by a wide margin. The price and comfort are big advantages of this headphone, so many people may make this their overall top choice.

In my quest for a reasonably expensive headphone to beat my actual favorite, the AKG Q701, I often did read about the Beyerdynamic headphones and I decided to try the DT880. Considering that I am very often using my Iphone 4 with or without a headphone amp, I decided to go for the 32 Ohms model. I made sure to give it a fair burn-in time so for a week, I did let it run almost constantly with some variation of music and pink and white noises. Today, I can estimate the burn-in to have passed the bar of 100 hours.

In order to compare effectively the two models, I will use my Iphone alone in the first place and then add a FiiO E-11 and reuse the same tracks. I expect the AKG to under perform with no amp as this phone is very power hungry. The tracks I will use are those that I always use when trying to compare headphones, because I love them first but also because I know how they should sound and more importantly because they provide a good sample of music genres and tonalities. The tracks will be compressed at 320Kbps and are as follow:

Ultrasone Sound test Siley Put short (Jazz, Binaural recording perfect for localization of sounds).

Ultrasone sound test Wellen track 7 (sound of water waves perfect for the head stage definition).

Frank Sinatra: How insensitive (Jazz, good also for localization of sounds).

Robin Thicke: Lost Without you and Angel (Perfect for the voice testing and for bass impact).

Pink Floyd: Astronomy Domine from A piper at the gates of dawn (Rock and excellent also for the localization of sounds).

DJ Magic Mike: Feel the Bass (Infra-Bass, enough said...) will be played from my computer because it is missing on the Iphone.

But first, let's start with the non musical parts:

Comfort: The Beyerdynamic DT880 Premium 32 Ohms are extremely comfortable. Their pads are the softest I have ever experienced and rest comfortably around your ears. On the top of your head, I think it is some faux leather. The pressure level is absolutely fine. They are slightly heavier than the AKG but I would still give them 5 stars. The AKG are also extremely comfortable. Their cushions aren't as soft but they also fit like a dream around my ears and the pressure is lesser. I can keep them on for hours.

Conclusion: DT880 : 1. AKG: 1.

Price: I paid $255 for the AKG (MSRP $479)and $309 for the DT880 (MSRP $359).

It could be deducted from the pricing that the DT880 keep a better value than the AKG. Personally, I do not know what to make of this. One may deduct that the MSRP was overblown for the AKG or that the DT880 are overpriced now. While looking at the final price, the AKG appears as the better deal.

Conclusion: DT880 : 0. AKG: 1.

Packaging:

The AKG come with two cables but no carrying case. Both cables are green and of high quality. Both are too long for a portable use. The cables are easy to connect or disconnect and it is a plus because most times, the cable is failing before the rest. Since these headphones are not meant for a portable use, a carrying case was not really necessary.

The DT880 come with only one cable and it is not removable. It is also a bit long for a portable use. It also comes with a huge carrying case. I like it because it is sure to protect it but it is way too bulky for thinking about using it when I travel.

Conclusion: DT880 : 0. AKG: 1.

Sound Isolation:

The AKG Q701 are an open design.

The DT880 are a semi open design.

Both are leaking quite a lot and are not meant for use in public areas. Although the DT880 are slightly more portable, I would still not make them my choice for outdoor use. Both should be kept for home use, listening to music or playing video games (both are excellent at it).

Conclusion: DT880 : 0. AKG: 0.

Now, let's come to the real important part of this test: the sound. I will start by saying that the sound for both was really good out of the box but improved quite a lot with the burn-in time. My first impression before going any further is that they are quite similar, with maybe the AKG sounding a bit more natural and with a larger head stage (open design versus the semi open design of the DT880) and the DT 880 with the mids a bit more forward and overall more powerful. I may sometimes find the DT880 a bit more tiring. Note that the 68 Ohms of the AKG are very deceptive since they sound as hard to drive as maybe a 300 Ohms headphone set.

I will finish this introduction by saying that I am partial to a large head stage and as natural a sound as possible. I like analytical headphones and so far the AKG proved perfect in that field.

Ok, let's start:

Ultrasone Sound test Siley Put short (Jazz, Binaural recording perfect for localization of sounds).

Both headphones delivered very well on this track. The DT880 were a bit more powerful than the AKG. The AKG sounded a bit more precise but this is by a hair...

Ultrasone sound test Wellen track 7 (sound of water waves perfect for the head stage definition).

Once again, it is a wash between the two. Both are delivering well on every detail and head stage. You really feel the waves coming from afar, getting past you and going the other direction. Some birds are heard in the distance to the right and one come your direction and it is well rendered by both sets.

Frank Sinatra: How insensitive (Jazz, good also for localization of sounds).

The DT880 are definitely more powerful. The voices are more recessed but still present on the AKG. Both deliver nicely and I cannot fault any. Though they sound different, nothing is missing for either. Amped or not , both sound magnificent.

Robin Thicke: Lost Without you and Angel (Perfect for the voice testing and bass punch).

These songs are nicely performed with both headphones. Their signature is different again, with the mids a bit more present for the DT880 and also more power. Once the FiiO amp is connected, the bass improvement is slightly better on the DT880.

Pink Floyd: Astronomy Domine (Rock and excellent also for the localization of sounds).

I like the AKG better on this song but it is not because the DT880 are at fault. Once again, the mids are not as forward on the AKG and it gives me an impression of neutrality more visible than with the DT880. But once again, the DT880 offer a superb delivery.

Used with the FiiO E11, the AKG start shining and takes a slight edge in my listening pleasure.

DJ Magic Mike: Feel the Bass (Infra-Bass, enough said...) will be played from my computer because it is missing on the Iphone.

The infra-bass is maybe the most difficult sound for any headphone to reproduce. I failed completely a Sennheiser 598 for it's lack in reproducing it. In this case, both do work well, with once again the DT880 more powerful without an amp. Without a proper amp, the AKG won't be the best because of the power limitation.

With the amplification provided by the FiiO E11 turned to the max, the DT880 start distorting slightly and leave me with a tingling in the ears due to the vibration of the diaphragms. This does not happen with the AKG. When I try to use a similar comfort level for my ears, the AKG appear slightly better.

Conclusion:

I have failed to find better than the AKG Q701 but I found it's equal in the DT880 Premium. I would suggest going for the DT880 if most of the use is done without an amp or if one prefers the mids a bit more forward. I would suggest to go with the AKG if the price is an important factor (you will save about $60) and if you like a more neutral sound. In either case, the Beyerdynamic DT880 Premium is a first class headphone!

First of all, read the other reviews carefully. I've noticed that several of them are actually reviews of the DT770s and the DT990s. These comments are about the DT880s. And at least two other reviews refer to these as "sealed" headphones. They are NOT sealed...they are open-backed and will not seal out ambient noise or help you keep your music to yourself.

I'll be brief. The tonal balance and clarity of these phones are very, very good. Comfort is exceptional, as is quality of construction. They are a good value for their price range and can be highly recommended for you to audition. Are they "the best"? Not in my opinion. My AKG K-701s and Sony MDR-SA3000s have better high-end clarity, but slightly less low-end. My Grado 325is have much better presence and imaging, though they are less comfortable and not constructed as durably. The Sennheiser HD-650s sound better overall. I'd suggest comparing the DT880s to a few of these I've mentioned.

I will also reiterate what others have stated: these are relatively inefficient headphones. You WILL need a headphone amp to enjoy these. If you can't afford a nice headphone amp (be prepared to spend at least $125 on an amp), buy some Sennheisers. Also, be aware of this when you audition the DT880s. If you switch between these and a pair of more efficient headphones, you will probably be unduly impressed by the simple difference in volume.

RUNNING: Perfect high score

In one year I have used two pairs of these earphones to listen to music while running. These earphones make the difference between an enjoyable run or a hassle-filled run. I would rather run without music than use a pair of earphones besides these. Unlike other earphones which keep falling out throughout a run, after I put these earphones in and wrap the wires around my ears, I can just forget about them... This seriously makes running with music enjoyable and hassle-free. :]

SOUND QUALITY: Wonderful excellent best score

I don't like using any earphones where I can't hear bass. For that reason I prefer these earphones over all my other earphones, sometimes even my huge Bose headphones. Yes the sound quality is excellent and crisp and clear.

it seems to be unfair to compare any ear plugs to my sennheiser HD650, but that's the baseline that i review every earphone with

no one would actually use a small ear plug for serious listening, but better sound quality is definitely desired when you are on the subway or in the gym running

this little earplugs are way beyond my expectation, especially for the price i paid. it's a keeper, probably for a very long time

first of all, the packaging, not too luxurious, but very good and solid. not too fancy but enough to be a present if you wrap it up and use some ribbons

sound quality:

mids and highs: so good after around 40 hours of burning in, clear and crisp, I listen to a wide range of music, classics for 50% of the time, then some blues, jazz and of course some pops, you can feel the violin the piano the trumpet at their designated position, the sound stage is very good. when i listen to vocals, i love how Diana Krall and Nora Jones sounds with this earpiece, bright and warm, you don't feel tired after 2-3 hours of listening.

lows: depending on how you love the bass, i'm quite a bass lover and I found it good enough, for some people, it might be a little too much. the bass quality is OK, i mean, better than probably most earplugs at this price range or even triple-the-price range, still it feels a little loose sometimes, I'm using my ipod classic to listen to all AAC files. I guess if you would use a mini amp like fiio or something, it will be improved. however, would anyone use an amp for a pair of earplug? i don't think so, i would only use amp for my bigger earphones like HD650, earplugs are just for carrying around. If you like hip-pop, rap, etc, you would like it very much 'cause it delivers enough punchy bass to rock your ear tubes :)

build quality: good and sturdy, like it. I owned bose ie2 and klipsch S4i before, all ripped apart when i used them in the gym. This pair seems to be more sturdy than the other two, let's just hope it will last longer than ie2 and S4i, however, i only paid 1/3 1/2 the price, i'm thinking of buying another pair just in case. A little heads-up: the twp earplugs are plugged into the wires, so be careful when you pull them out of your bag or pocket, don't yank

verdict: good sound quality, much friendlier price, looks cool, totally worth it. actually i think i'm willing to pay twice the price for the sound, but let's hope the seller keep the price as it is right now, cause there wouldn't be much competition for this price.

Headphones are transparent and the cables are longer. The back up ear buds set is very useful. The wire is flexible and sporty

The plastic clamshell split open at the seam in package. looked good and the left sounded good. I was leaving the country and did not even try to return. They were packaged well and delivered quickly but it looked like manufacturers defect.
