I did a lot of research on amazon looking for a shielded cable like this one that wasn't as expensive as monster cables, but was actually shielded-this one suited my needs perfectly. You can find similar length cables at half the price, but they don't look like they're really shielded-no more so than any wired cable, like a phone cord, cheap extension cord, etc. And of course you can find top-end stuff from monster, etc for 3x the price.
I already had a 15 ft, unshielded 3.5mm to RCA cable that I've been using to connect my MP3 player and my laptop to my stereo's aux input, but unless I had everything just right, I was liable to experience a hum-feedback interference. In addition, the old cable would occasionally cause my MP3 player to freeze up, which never happens when I'm using headphones.
I've had this cable for a few weeks now, and with daily use, on both the laptop and the MP3 player, I haven't had any issues at all, so I'm pleased. It seems to be heavy duty cable, well made, and durable. It's very flexible for it's thickness though, so I think anyone needing to route the cable around corners, etc will have no problem at all.
4 stars instead of 5 just because the 3.5 plug housing is rather long and heavy, (which makes it pretty durable-I doubt I'll be suffering from a bad joint connection, but--) I sense that it's going to cause some problems with my laptop jack eventually, because it weighs so much I can see how the jack will get loose over time, especially with daily use. It would have been better designed with an elbow plug, if possible.
Otherwise, I think it's great. Great deal for the money.
update 1-5-13: happy to report my cable still works great; everything is the same. Just want to clarify that I bought mine from cablemart for approx $10 + $5 shipping. Glancing at a few more recent reviews, I can't guarantee that the cable advertised is the same one I bought. I don't think the picture is the same either. the one I bought looks like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Quality-Shielded-Connecting-Receivers-Accepting/dp/B002XWRVIC/ref=sr_1_6?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1357381992&sr=1-6

I know, it's a cheap-o cable you say. But I've become somewhat of a student of audio lately and I can now honestly say that buying big expensive cables is absolutely unnecessary unless going very long distances. I've had the $100 cables and the $4 cables and I absolutely cannot tell the difference. I am using this to connect my HDTV to my Sennheiser RS180 headphones (which are STELLAR by the way) and even though it's going 25 feet, the sound is crystal clear. There's no interference, there's no hum, there's no weak signal...there's just crystal clear audio. If you need to connect your TV, DAC or any other RCA source to a 3.5MM input (as in the case of my HDTV to RS180's or to the computer) then this is the cable for you.I've read reviews that imply that over time that silver, aluminum, copper, etc. all corrode, which is true but it takes years to affect the audio signal. This will give you years of excellent signal to your most demanding equipment and if corrosion ever becomes a problem, buy another $4 cable and you're still $92 ahead of the $100 cables.

Pretty simple product really, no complaints. Does a good job of patching in the computer to the reciever from 25' away. Would buy it again. Since others have praised this cable's durability, I will restrict myself to commenting on it's sound: wonderful! I have recently been upgrading all my cables in the various a/v and vintage systems I own but I have refrained from the overpriced ones, which to my ears sound no better than cables in the $10-30 range. I run this cable from a iMac to a vintage Sansui receiver, which is on the other side of the room. It's length therefore is a real plus. I was a little wary at first but not only did it outperform my older cables but it sounds better than all the other ipod dock cables that I own, which are twice the price. The thick size and the gold-plated jacks really do make a difference. The RCA jacks in fact fit on snugger than most. For the price this cable is a no brainer.Want Monoprice 105601 25-Feet Premium Stereo Male to 2RCA Male 22AWG Cable - Black Discount?
