There are MANY cables to choose from to connect your cell phone to an AUX port in your car. A search in Amazon for "3.5 cables" returns a mind-boggling 374,640 results. How to winnow that down to a reasonable number, and then, how to choose one.
There are the obvious factors: it has to work. That means it should be shielded, and have solid contacts on both ends, preferably "gold-plated."
This cable easily satisfies all the technical concerns. It has full shielding to prevent cross-talk.
A thick coating makes it durable, but still flexible.
It has the required gold-plated contacts.
Personally, I like the blue color also as it makes it easier to find in the messy center console of my car.
The biggest issue for me was the length, 4ft instead of the more common 3ft. For some reason, Toyota located the AUX input in my Prius in the front of the center console, rather than the front of the radio where all the other controls are. Then, when I put my phone into a handy cradle (I like iOttie HLCRIO101 One Touch XL Windshield Dashboard Car Mount Holder for Galaxy S4/Galaxy) a 3ft cable barely reaches. I have to turn the phone into the horizontal position to make it fit. The extra foot makes a big difference.
I give the cable a full five stars as it does everything I could ask of it.

Like others most of the other cables I've gotten have been mediocre at best they work fine for awhile but the thin wire cord gets tangled, begins to pull out of the connectors and before you know it you're missing a left or right channel.This one wasn't really much more expensive but it's much better built and looks ready to hold up to a lot of use. The multiple lengths are helpful as well. I got the 4 foot cord. This is just right for me gives plenty of room to put the phone on the seat or have others select songs. If you want it to stretch to the back seat get the 6 foot one or longer. If you want less cord hanging from the stereo go with the shorter 2.5 feet (though you'll be very limited in how far you can move it)
I'd buy another in fact I might buy one for my wife's car too!

Since getting my car, I've used Bluetooth to connect to my vehicle to play my music from my phone. I did some reading around and heard that using an Auxiliary cable improves the quality of my music, while also being convenient. I honestly can't detect any improvement in sound quality, but it is convenient that I can just plug and play, versus turning on Bluetooth, tapping to sync to my car, then playing. The cable definitely feels and looks great, though I did notice you can twist the ends off, making them lose which I'm honestly not sure is supposed to happen, maybe loose glue or something? I'd give it 5 stars for working just as I wanted, except the possible quality issue.The cable was exactly what I expected. I used it to connect my phone to my car stereo and it was perfect. This cable is nice. I use it to connect my mp3 player to a device so I can play my bass along with the music through my headseat. The sound is crisp and the cables feel solid, not cheap. I had another set that I loaned to someone else and it didn't allow the music to sound as great as this cable does. It was delivered on time too.
