I received this keyboard on 2/2/11. As always, I was impressed with how quickly I received my order from Amazon.com. However, within minutes of setting up the keyboard, I noticed that two keys on the right side of the keyboard didn't work. One key simply didn't work AT ALL, and one key seemed to have a short and would only play after pressing it like 3 or 4 times in a row. Amazon is making it easy to return/exchange this keyboard, so I'm hopeful that the replacement is decent. However, after this experience and reading other reviews online of this exact problem, I am very concerned about the build quality of this keyboard, despite having heard good things over the years about Yamaha.

I'll update this review after I receive the replacement in a week or so. Hopefully I won't have to switch to another brand, but Casio maybe the next one I look at (need to keep this purchase affordable).

UPDATE: I received a replacement keyboard in record time: less than 2 days! I was at first bummed that I wouldn't be able to test the new keyboard over the weekend, but Amazon got the replacement out immediately and it was here early Friday afternoon (I had only submitted the return early Wednesday evening). Amazon did create some confusion, however, by on the one hand telling me that UPS would be picking up the defective keyboard from my house, and then e-mailing me a label and instructions for dropping the keyboard off at a local UPS center. Then UPS added to the confusion when I called to confirm the pick-up at my house: they said that one hadn't been arranged. So then I bring the keyboard to a UPS center, and then find a UPS pick-up attempt label on my door. Whatever...I got the defective keyboard to UPS and back to Amazon.

As for the keyboard: it sounds great. I've only just begun to play around with it, but the keys feel good, and the variety of quality sounds is incredible. I'll be combining this keyboard with Ableton Live Intro to create music. I spent several hours after receiving the keyboard testing the keys (I was concerned after the defective unit) and checking out the various functions. I haven't even scratched the surface yet, but I am giving the keyboard a decent rating. I'll report back if my opinion changes over time.

The headphones that were included with this package deal are ABSOLUTE GARBAGE. It's not worth my time to return them, especially since I already went through the hassle of returning the entire first keyboard package. The right channel of the headphones didn't work AT ALL right out of the package. These no-name, god-awful headphones are already in the trash. I ordered the package to get the power adapter and the stand anyway, so it's not a big lose. Still, you don't like to feel ripped off in any way.

The stand that came with this package is quite sturdy. It certainly isn't anything fancy, but it was easy to put together and it seems strong enough to last years.

I purchased this item from Amazon a few days ago. In general the keyboard should suit my needs. However, the entry for this item on Amazon's site is highly misleading. For the stand in particular, the image on top shows a single-X stand, and I almost didn't buy the package because I was afraid so flimsy a stand wouldn't support so hefty a keyboard (76 keys). However, when I read further down in the actual description (toward the bottom), it said that the package included a Yamaha PKBX2 Double X Portable Keyboard Stand, and even linked to the specific product. That struck me as an excellent deal, and I ordered it, assuming that the specifics of the product description were correct and the photo at the top was in error.

When I received the package, however, not only did it include a single-X stand rather than the promised, sturdier double-X version, but the stand wasn't even a Yamaha product -it was from a company called "World Tour".

Of course I could return the package and demand my money back, but I happen to need the keyboard now, and of course returning anything mail order is a hassle. So I am kind of stuck using this inferior stand; the keyboard is a bit unsteady on it, but I'm not Franz Liszt and it will probably be all right.

But the experience has left kind of a bad taste in my mouth with respect to Amazon. They shouldn't specify one product and then deliver an inferior one.

Not bad. I'm pretty happy with the piano. Glad I got it, and would definitely buy it again. A few complaints to consider, but keep in mind I still rated it 4 stars. I'm just being picky here.

Keys: very little resistance, therefore does not feel like a piano. Also, I have the impression the keys are narrower than piano keys. While this is not mathematically true, I still have that feeling. And when you're talking about fingers, feeling matters. I think the low resistance contributes to this. You can depress a key just by the side of your finger catching it. Now all this is not to say you can't learn. It's analogous to the difference between typing on a laptop keyboard and a full keyboard. The cogno/psycho/senso/motor skill totally translates over, you just have to get used to a different feel. The transition will seem disproportionately rough, but once you get used to it you will go back and forth fine, and practice on one will appreciate on the other.

Range: You can play pretty much everything on 71 keys. But not everything. The bottom has been more shortened than the top.

User interface: hard to make sense of, but I think I'm catching on. Intuitive is the LAST word I would use to describe it.

Accessories: On the adapter that came with the headphones, the 3.5 mm female is a little fat, so headphones fit in loosely. Stand is fine. Could use a travel case

Sound: Not terribly loud when turned all the way up.

Overall, buying a piano was out of the question. This was a great substitute.

I'm no piano player, but I am a musician. I've heard many Roland, Casios, and even other Yamahas that all cost at least twice this one. None of those piano's sound as real as this one. The piano sound isn't the only sound that impressive either. There are lots and lots of other sounds that are really top notch!

The 'graded soft touch' action is what made me want this keyboard. Unlike what some people have written, it's not adjustable. Like I said, I'm not a piano player, but I've been around musical gear my whole life. In my opinion, it feels like somewhere between a weighted key and an unweighted key. I feels more like a weighted key when you push it down, but then it feels like an unwieghted key when you let it go. Since I'm just learning how to play, it's a little hard to control the release of the key compared to pushing it. I think I'll get used to it, but at any rate it feels better than any other unweighted keyboard I've ever played with.

This thing does a lot, but unless you've got a lot of time to dedicate to it, you'll probably not be able to figure out how to make it work on your own. There's a fairly large manual that comes with it, but I'm not going to read it.

This keyboard is pretty light, but I wouldn't gig with it. It feels like something that should stay in one place. I think if you were gigging with it, you would probably regret it.

Overall, this keyboard is a good value. I'm very glad I bought it and I absulutely would buy it again.

I did a lot of research before choosing this keyboard. I looked at it at Fry's Electronics store but they only had the "demonstrator" and it was VERY, VERY used! Due to it's condition, they offered me the "killer" deal of a whopping 5% discount! I went to Amazon.com and found the exact same Yamaha model but, unlike the one at Fry's, the one from Amazon.com included a power adapter, a nice set of stereo headphones, AND a sturdy, adjustable stand...all at the same price. The value was incredible. The keyboard itself was awesome. I've played at playing the piano and various keyboards for over 50 years...always as a relaxing pastime and never devoting the time and practice needed to get "good". This Yamaha YPG-235 makes me GOOD! The built in styles, "voices", effects, etc., coupled with the ability to upload thousands of other sounds from the Internet via the built in USB port which connects it to your PC makes this the most advanced and awesome sounding instrument I've ever seen (or heard!)! I love it!!

Alrighty kids, lets get down to business.

This microphone is a great deal. I'm willing to bet that you're not going to find a microphone that is going to give you this sound quality for this cheap anywhere else. Sound quality is great, definitely better than most headset microphones (and it doesn't pick up breathing noises, always a bonus)and desktop microphones in the 10-25 dollar range. It's pretty sleek looking, and it does cut out background noise pretty well. However, I will note that it is INCREDIBLY light, which isn't necessarily a negative, but that means that it does move a bit more, which means a bit more noise when you're recording if you bump it. The other thing is that it doesn't seem to sit very securely in the stand, but once again, don't be tossing it around, and it should be great. Arrived three days earlier than it was originally supposed to, so I was very impressed on that front as well.

Also no one else seemed to mention this, but this is a 3.5mm jack microphone, not a USB. I know I was wondering when I ordered it as it's not listed anywhere.

I want to thank the three customers before me who gave the excellent reviews (which prompted me to take the plunge and buy it). I cannot say enough about how good this little microphone is!

Having an Asus P6T Deluxe motherboard, which came with the SoundMax built into it (and the matching Soundmax stereo array microphone), I thought I would be able to do good voice calls on Yahoo messenger. I speak good English, yet I was constantly asked to repeat what I was saying. Having enough, I decided to look on Amazon to see what I can do for a good but cheap microphone.

Then I stumbled on this little gem, looks like a professional microphone but the cost made me think, "It has to be a gimmick, no way can it be that good for the price!".

I was so wrong, the quality approaches that of Shure professional microphones (I did a voice recording with this and the Shure and it was hard to tell the difference!). Now I am heard very well and never asked to constantly repeat myself.

It has not only made me more clear, it helped to set Audessey on my receiver to sound better than it ever has. You see, I have an Onkyo TX-SR706 receiver that comes with the calibrated microphone. You run Audessey and it sets your speaker distance, sound levels, and sets the internal EQ. I was never satisfied with the sound of the Audessey with the EQ enabled, it always sounded so much more muffled, with muddy bass, so I always kept the EQ off.

Well, I got the idea (despite what they tell you, that the mic the receiver comes with is the only one you should use to calibrate the receiver) to use this microphone to set Audessey, so I broke out my tripod, set this mic to face up to the ceiling, and started placing it in the desired positions as instructed by the instructions of Audessey. I only made 3 different readings, center, 2 feet right, 2 feet right. Then it calculated and set everything, and I sat there and fully expected it to sound horrible!

Sounded like I just got some expensive speaker upgrades! The highs, mids, and bass from the sub is perfectly balanced and the sound is amazing! I came from a Pioneer, and always felt this Onkyo was a bit of a downgrade as far as overall sound quality. This is the best I have ever heard my speakers sound, now if I shut the EQ off, it sounds far inferior!

The mic not only had good quality, it also has an on/off switch on it so you can mute it quickly if needs be. The stand is very sturdy and nicely weighted.

If you need a mic for Yahoo, setting receivers, Skype, MMO games, whatever you would need a mic for...BUY THIS! It is that simple. I still cannot believe I paid the amount I did for this, if I paid $60.00 for this mic I would still feel I got a good deal.

Build Quality

Overall, it's really well put together for the price point. I was expecting much worse, and was pleasantly surprised. The stand is plastic and unweighted, however the mic doesn't tip over easily. On the bottom are non-slip rubber feet, which helps. The holder swivels up and down, and it uses a metal bolt as the axle. The mic itself has a metal basket, and has a little weight to it. There's an on-off switch on the mic itself. My only concern about the build is that the on-off switch has to be inside the split on the stand, or it'll turn your mic on with a slight bump if in the off position. With it in that split, it's difficult to turn on and off. The cord is generous in length and it is UNSHIELDED. The cord ends in a 3 terminal 3.5mm plug. It does not use a standard mic end, which is 2 terminal. It did not work with my on-board mic jack at all, but works fine with my creative labs sound card.

Performance

It's better than a Logitech desktop mic I've had for several years, with a caveat which I'll explain later. It picks up well. It's more or less omnidirectional. I have a television sitting at a 130 degree angle from the front of the mic, and it barely picks up. If I turn the mic to about 90 degrees with respect to the tv, it picks up the tv enough to upset my ventrilo friends. I can be heard clearly, with little static and having the mic positioned 3 feet from my face. The caveat to quality is the cord picks up ANY noise from ANY nearby power cords. I really mean this. The cord can NOT be anywhere near ANY cord carrying power to ANYTHING. Trying to run it behind the desk picked up a very notable hum from the monitor power supplies. Along the floor picked up from the UPS. The only way I managed to get it to not have a very loud and obnoxious hum was to run it around where it wasn't close to anything, but nor was it close to my desk.

Tweaking

If you've got a soldering iron, and access to shielded mic cable, it's really easy to replace the cable with a shielded mic cable. If you use a shielded cable, the hum vanishes. You'll be able to position it anywhere without worry about picking up the dreaded hum. Without shielding, people will think you sound like "you're talking underwater next to a power plant" if you have the cord near any power cords. With shielding, they'll comment how nice your mic is. I paid $8 to a local A/V supplier for a 6 foot shielded cable with a standard 2 terminal 3.5mm mic end, and it took me 15 minutes to desolder the old cable and solder the new one in place, including time to let the iron heat up.

Overall

Without replacing the cable on the microphone, it's very poor for desktop computer use. In a location WITHOUT power cords, it'd be good for its price, but you'd still have to worry about where the cord was laying. Adding an additional $8 replacement part for the cord, replacing the cord with a shielded mic cable, it's very very easy to make the mic wonderful for desktop use. When I was at $14 invested for the mic, I had to switch back to 'old trusty' to be heard clearly. After investing a total of $22 (mic and aftermarket shielded mic cable), it gets better reviews from my peers than another person's Shure 522, which is 5X the price. Would I purchase it again? In a heartbeat, with a shielded mic cable in the same order.

Ratings

Quality: Stand 9/10, Mic 10/10, Cable 1/10; Average 6.6/10

Performance: As Delivered, 2/10; Modded, 10/10

How it arrived in the box, I can only give it 2 stars. With a simple cable replacement, it'd get 5 stars, but that's not what is delivered.

At first, i don't really wanna buy it because there is no customer's rating and review, but i m really glad that i did. What happen was i bought another microphone here, that works not so great, and the price was way higher. That is how i decided to give this product a shot, and luckily, it works way better than expected. i no longer has to shout to record voice or talk on skype. The stand that comes with it is helpful, it looks really cute and mini, but the voice is crystal clear and loud. Looking at the price, i m really surprise of the quality of the voice that comes out, even at high pitch it works fine, if anyone is looking for a microphone for pc, i really hope u don't miss it.

I took a chance on this Mic because I was tired of screaming into my headset while playing StarCraft II. Not only is it stylish but it is probably one of the best Mics I have owned. I have it sitting a good foot and 1/2 from me and it picks up my normal speaking voice and it is crystal clear to everyone else. Definitely a product strait out of China, there was no english on the box. Great product though.

My title basically says it all. This pair of headphones is absolutely PERFECT if you listen to a lot of electronic music (what they're designed for.) The build quality is notable, I can see this pair of headphones lasting me years and years, although ive only had them a mere 4 months or so. The bass is thunderous, mids are right where they need to be, highs too. They are perfect for dj's, as well as the average home listener that strives for flawless sound quality... Really the only reason i am writing this review is coz i read a thousand reviews of so many different types of headphones trying to find the right pair, and if your in the same position... your search is over. I am listening to them right now with a huge, satisfactory smile on my face!

I have DJ for over 10 years. Since then I have used the Sony MDR V700. My DJ friends totally disagree with this post. But I find that I've spent more money on Sony headphones in the last 10 years changing them every 6-12months. I have waited 2 months to come to the conclusion that the new Allen & Heath XD-53 are by far the closest to having a CLUB inside your head. The level of MIDS this thing has is insane, BASS is intense, Trebble is harmonic. There are really no words to describe what a huge improvement on accuracy of my style of mixing. But above all the simple fact that my entire ear sinks inside the ear cup without hurting them after doing a 24Hours Straight Set, Really? I strongly believe that Sony needs to Step up the Game if they want me back as a costumer because. I refuse to keep paying $80 every 6 months. I used to have to take breaks in between sets after 6 hours of music search only to start practicing the selections I have chosen on that night.

These headphones are fantastic. Let's start by noting the obvious-these are DJ headphones. Even though the sound quality is excellent, I would not recommend these for non-DJ purposes simply because the comfort is not the greatest. This is because they are meant to isolate well for DJing, and are therefore not the most comfortable after wearing for long periods of time.

For the audiophiles reading this, other headphones near the same price category that I've tested/owned are: Ultrasone DJ 1 Pro, Audio Technica ATH-M50, Byer Dyanmic DT770, Sony MDR-V700.

If you are a DJ looking at these headphones, you should buy these immediately.

Here are pros and cons and below is in depth descriptions and comparisons to other headphones listed above.

Cons:

The only possible con for me is that they don't have a detachable cable. I don't mind this, but it does mean that if you mess up and somehow pull the cable out of the end attached to the headphones, they will need fixing.

Pros:

Great sound quality.

Very sexy.

Great size (earcups and headband)

Fold up and swivel nicely like the ATH-M50.

Perfect amount of headband pressure/resistance.

Powerful drivers 53mm great upfront sound stage for DJing/isolation.

Isolation is great.

Just the right amount of padding on the top of the head.

Have audio technica drivers/sound = thumping accurate bass and great balance.

Audio technica drivers paried with allen & heath build quality for $158 = a steal.

You can pump as much bass and clarity out of them as you want with an equalizer.

Perfect cable length.

come with a regular 1/8" jack but 1/4" adapter included, so easy to use with MP3 player.

I purchased the Ultrasone DJ 1 Pro's before this and sent them back because I thought they were a joke as DJ headphones... They have a great sound stage, but they are massive, don't swivel all the way, don't isolate that well, don't have the comfiest padding, don't feel very sturdy, and have a strange cable setup-more on this in a sec. There were many things I didn't like about them as DJ headphones. For home use or non-electronic music, I would recommend the non-DJ version of them (just a different appearance).

The AT ATH-M50s are a great set of cans, go look at the reviews for them here on amazon, there are almost 400 reviews and they have a 5 star rating. That's because Audio Technica knows what they are doing. Unfortunately, the price of those have increased significantly since they are now quite popular, so it's hard to recommend them for the current price they sell for when you could pay a little more money for a lot more quality.

Here's a hidden gem about the XD-53s... They are Allen & Health build quality but the actual audio drivers in them are made by Audio Technica. So if you've heard the ATH-M50s before, these are fairly similar except that they are much more powerful (45 vs 53mm drivers) and have better all around sound quality. I and many others think the M50s are a little recessed in the mids, but the XD-53s are very clear in the low mid and hi's, and they have more bass since they are DJ headphones. The bass is proper though, it is punchy and not boomy or muddy. If you are a basshead, you would love these simply because the bass shakes your head properly. You can feel them moving in your hands when the bass hits.

This info about audio technica is something I learned after i bought the DJ 1 pros. I like the up front/in your face sound of audio technica drivers, they are great for electronic music and definitely for DJing since the upfront is louder in your face and makes it easier to keep the volume relatively low. The isolation on the XD-53s combined with these audio technica drivers make them a for sure winner in sound and build quality and isolation for DJ headphones. They have a metal headband adjustment instead of plastic, which is what lots of people complained about for the MDR-V700s.

I'd say the sound clarity is on par with the DT770s in that the highs and mids are distinguishable and not recessed at all. They sound just right.

I've heard a few people complain about the size of the XD-53s, saying they don't stay on their head well. This does not have anything to do with the actual size of the headband or earcups, but more so the amount of resistance or pressure that the headband puts on your head. For example, the ATH-M50s really clamp and put a lot of pressure on your head beause the headband is tight. On the XD-53s, it's looser, which I like because it makes them more comfortable in that sense, and makes them less sweaty and easier to take on and off easily. If you have a very small head, I'd recommend trying them at a store first. My head is not big by any means, i'd say average, and these are fine. I think it's a matter of how hard you headbang while wearing these on your head during a mix. I have had zero problems though and I think those users were over exaggerating a lot or not fully used to different headphone styles. The DJ 1 Pros were way looser/bigger and fell off my head all the time.

These headphones swivel in the same way as the ath-m50s, so they pretty much swivel all the way every direction; great for DJ headphones when you frantically realize the song is ending and you have to throw your cans up to one ear to quickly mix into another song.

The cable on these is perfect... The ultrasone Dj 1 pros had like 2 feet of straight cable between where the coil ended and the jack was, and I thought this was stupid and got in the way. The cable length is perfect in every way for DJing or using with portable player (if you don't mind coiled while walking). These also come standard with a regular 1/8" headphone jack. The ultrasones came with two different cables, one was coiled with a 1/4" jack and one was straight with a 1/8" jack. Unfortunately, the 1/8" cable was so short, that it wouldn't even reach from the headphones to the mp3 player in my pocket and I am 5'8". And then the coiled cable had a non removable 1/4" jack, so I had to use a giant adapter just to hook it into an mp3 player or regular laptop jack... very annoying and pointless.

Not sure what else to say about these other than the fact that these are the ultimate DJ headphones. DJ veterans will swear by the Sony MDR-V700, but that means they haven't tried these. The price really isn't bad for what you get, especially given the two companies involved in making these headphones. The price is actually really amazing for this. These cost the same as the ATh-M50s now and sound better and have features aimed at DJs. Some people say Allen & Heath makes good mixers and not headphones, well the sound quality is audio technica and the build quality is what the mixers are known for from Allen & heath so it would make more sense that these are an ultimate pair of headphones.

Want Allen & Heath Xone:XD-53 Professional Monitoring Headphones Discount?

The sound quality is amazing and they are really quite comfortable. I've been using the same pair of Technics RP-DJ1200's for years, they were starting to fall apart and my only complaint with them was that they literally bolted onto your head so tight that after a couple hours, you'd start to get a headache. Plus I wear glasses, so the super tight fit was just too much.

The XD-53's have a much bigger earcup, so they are more comfortable, but even at the smallest sizing, they things are still massive. I take a LARGE hat, I've got a pretty big head, but seriously, if you nod your head to the beat while you're mixing, the headphones fly off and tumble down your face (they did that FOUR times during my last set, and almost broke my glasses). Who did they build the protypes off of? Andre the Giant? Whereas the Technics were too tight you could literally do aerobics while wearing those things the XD-53's are just too bloody loose. I can't ever imagine a smaller female DJ wearing these things, they'd never stay up. I wanted to get the matching headphones to complement my Xone controller and now I'm a little frustrated I did. Sound quality is AMAZING. Fit is GARBAGE.

If you have an impossibly sized giant cranium, your ship has come in. But WARNING Do NOT buy these without trying them on at a store first.

These headphones are great. Awesome clarity. Good sound isolation. The highs and mids are awesome, and of course the drivers are about the biggest out there (not the biggest, although they advertise them as...). Seriously, don't pass up on them especially with the last two being on sale right now. Only complaint is that the headphone jack cord does not disconnect from the headphone itself.

Great headphones.

I manage a classic rock band. I recently ordered a bunch of stuff to replace aging gear. Cables, mics, stands, snakes, etc. We have now been out on a couple of gigs with the stuff. It is all good quality and working fine. Does exactly what I expected it to do. No surprises. In the interest of time I am applying this exact same review to all of the items I bought for this purpose and am happy with. FWIW, I am also taking the time to be critical of the items I am not completely happy with.

I am adding a picture for this road case also.

I have a mild to moderate addiction to small guitar amps, so when I saw this little gem I had to buy it. First of all because of it's looks. I mean, come on.....Two-Toned Tolex and Sparkle Grill Cloth in a mini amp??? How cool is that?

Received the shipment from Amazon in 3 days with least priced shipping option. I never bother with shipping upgrades. Never worth it.

Package arrived in good shape. Unit was well protected with foam suspension pieces. Upon unboxing, was slightly overwhelmed with strong odor of glue. Hot off the Chinese press! Other than that, the fit and finish are top notch. Amp is half the size of my Behringer AC108 Vintager. Very light too. But not in a cheap way.

Plugged in the amp is bit noisy at idle but had really good tone for such a small combo. Maxing the Volume out produced just a tiny bit of natural, tube like breakup but not really loud. I'd say about 77-80 db at one meter.

Do NOT push in the Distortion button! This ruins the integrity of the amp IMHO. I really wish they had designed the Distortion channel to be more subtle. It's not usable unless you shred, even then the tone is bad, fizzy, and obnoxious.

The "Reverb" is not what you might expect. It's a digital BBB type with a short decay. Great for Scottie Moore type early rock sounds. Not good for surf sounds. Still, it does sweeten the tone.

Overall this is a cute little amp (BTW, it does come in Orange, Red, and Blue tolex options)

I will keep it in my den by my studio couch with my Mini-Strat plugged in to noodle around whenever. I might be inclined to record with it since it's so simple and quiet. It satisfied my "amp fix" for the time being!

I was impressed wih these MediaBridge cables. One of the weaknesses often found in inexpensive cables is poor connections of the leads in the RCA jacks. When a generic cable is subject to a lot of use, or abuse, the first point of failure is usually at the connector. I unscrewed the barrel of one of the MediaBridge RCA connectors and found the soldered connections to be encased in a hard protective plastic. Although you can't actually see the connection, the plastic surround should work very well in protecting the sensitive connections. Another thing that impressed me was the 3.5mm minijack connector. It's designed to make a tight connection even if you are connecting it to a smartphone with a case. Lastly, the cable itself feels strong and sturdy, but is still very flexible. Highly recommended!!

It arrived on time, looks great, very tight RCA's, high quality looking parts, nice cable, nice ends.

Possible problem 1 (for some people) RCA being too tight, test fit them 1st before pushing them all the way on. They are so tight (this is a good thing) they may rip out the rca socket on your amp when removing them. If too tight loosen them slightly by prying a bit on slots in the outer ring before pushing the all the way on.

These headphones sound great. They fit well too, the packaging is good, and I like how they feel while running with them. I've owned Shure, Ultimate Ears, Bose, Apple, and they are a good set of headphones. The issue is that they went dead after only a week of use. Can't charge them at all.

Also, charging and fitting the charging cable into the headphones is very difficult. It is a design issue that Denon needs to work on. On top of that the piece that covers the charging mini USB, is extremely hard to fit back in place.

I'd recommend the Denon fix these ASAP, give customers replacements or refunds on Rev 1, and get this great product back on the market soon.

I'm an owner of the LG Tone HBS-700, so I'll make some comparisons relative to the the Denon AH-W150 and the LG HBS-700.

First of all, the Denon fits like dream. Its an over the ear unit with soft silicone ear plugs. Denon provides 4 different ear piecing sizes. Mine contained the third largest ear-piece that I removed and replaced with the next smaller size. The fit was pretty air tight and the bass was prominent once I had a good seal set in the ear. It wears extremely light around your ears and access to the buttons has a little learning curve, but nothing too complicated.

Pairing was simple to my Droid and Ipad. But unlike the LG, the Denon can only pair with one device at a time. The LG could pair with two devices (one phone and one player), but I never found this to be extremely beneficial to me. I did receive a call while using the music player and switching it over to the phone and having a conversation was really clean.

As stated earlier, the controls needed a few minutes to get used to but it was second nature. I think the layout is much cleaner than the LG and th

Audio is pretty decent. I'm not an audiophile, but I can appreciate that the Denon produces a good range. Its not too bass or treble heavy and mid-tones are good.

I had used the LG specifically for working out at the gym. I only use free weights no treadmills or machines. The LG became a problem for me while I was doing any exercise while laying on my back. The entire neck apparatus would come off frequently when I would sit up from a laying position, with the ear buds still in my ears. It just became a nuisance to the point where I would take them off before I would bench or turn the neck piece around.

The Denon's haven't fallen out or been disruptive in any manner during my workouts. They are so comfortable to wear and come with its own little case with caribiner clip. Originally I thought the case was a waste, but I actually use it all the time. Right after I workout I take off my earphones and throw them in the case and the case goes into my gym bag. It'll provide some longevity to the device, instead of it bouncing around and getting snagged on something that might pull on the wires or worse.

Only complaint....the price. At $149 it's a stretch for a Bluetooth headset. I bought it because I cant stand the wires of a traditional earphones and the LG kept falling off my neck when I would lay down. So I justified the cost and so far I'm digging the new Denon.

Update (10/18/12)

Purchased a new phone Samsung G S3.

Range has been very odd on the earphones. I do not use a carrying case while working out because I have an app I frequently use to track my workouts, so I just place my Samsung on the ground and my music cuts out periodically. If I place the phone in my pocket, there doesn't seem to be an issue. If I place the phone on a bench and walk away to use the water fountain it doesn't cut out. But there is something about being the phone BELOW the waist that creates some transmission errors.

These headphones are absolutely horrible. I was so excited to see that Denon, a brand I love, finally has a pair of sweatproof bluetooth headphones. But after going through three pairs (Yes, THREE!), I give up.

Strike 1: My first pair. I wore them for a couple of weeks, and actually really liked them at first. The sound was good. The battery life was good. I was happy. Until they started shorting out during my runs. Presumably from sweat. Not a great feature of set of headphones named "Exercise Freak." The shorting out got worse and worse, and until they finally died.

Strike 2: I exchanged the first pair for a new pair. But the first time I wore them, the kept shutting off randomly during my run. I thought maybe I didn't charge the battery enough, so I let it charge overnight. The next day, same thing. They wouldn't stay on for more than a few minutes without shutting off.

Strike 3: Third time's a charm, right? Nope. I exchanged for another new pair, which I was really hoping would work. But this pair had an issue with the bluetooth. The range was approximately 1 foot. Completely useless for wireless headphones.

You may see some reviews where people say they love these headphones. And I admit, I was happy with them at first. But they definitely are plagued with issues, and are not built to last. My recommendation is to pass on these and move on to another brand until Denon gets their act together.

As a gadget junkie, my expectations of all stereo bluetooth headsets was low. Like the title says these little Exercise Freak's sound amazing and totally caught me off guard!

Let me explain why:

FIT The fit was great. Yes, it takes a little time to work my large ears into the over ear grooves but once in there its snug and tight. Don't have to worry about them popping out on a run. There are a bunch of other ear tips to fit people of different sizes. The ones that come pre-installed fit well and block out most noise around me. I can move my head around and rock out some head banging tunes to get pumped up and they fit comfortably.

ERGONOMICS The button layout was nice and simple. Two main buttons and two volume buttons. Easy to make changes as you are moving around.

BUILD QUALITY The build is really solid. I had checked out a few competitors and didn't experience the same level of quality of the Freaks. Looks like it can handle some serious sweat.

SOUND QUALITY Ok, so here is where I am a nerd. After an initial charge, I ran a pink noise track on repeat for a full battery cycle to "break them in". (I do this with all speakers) Then I tested on some familiar tracks and compared them to my "wired" headphones. As for bass response, the low end exceeded my "wired" version (of a well known brand). I listened to Travis Barkers Knockin' and it was almost dizzying with the drum detail. The mid range is smooth and un muddied. Next, System of a Down's Prison was used for dynamics and range. Blew me away. Vocals are clean and smooth with out "breaking up". I also tried Aimee Mann's One, very smooth with flat response across the board. Downloaded the Denon Apps (Club and Sport) and made some tweaks with the EQ in the Club app. Like having a parametric EQ at your finger tips. Ran back through the songs again and was delighted as I "tuned in" to my hearing preferences. (Talk about the apps later)

BATTERY LIFE They advertise 7 hours, but after a few charges it was only making to about 6.5 hours. (Not really a big deal, I do drive them pretty loud.)

BLUETOOTH PAIRING Ok, so this was really fast on the iPhone. My Jawbone, Bose and Blue Ant devices took longer (especially the Jawbone). On my iMac it was fairly fast too, but I got caught up in setting all the preferences for I/O.

DISTANCE FROM SOURCE This is where I got a little confused. On the iPhone the range was perfect with in 15-20 feet indoors. On the iMac it was almost 30 feet. Not sure why the difference was so dramatic, but when i am out excercising I'm not more than a few feet away from the iPhone.

CARRYING CASE Very nice little canvas case with a matching carabiniere. Cool thing here is that when I am not storing the headphones, my iphone and ID fit in here and I can run or bike with attached to me or the bike. Very Nice.

USE WITH IPHONE So here was the surprise, I did not realize that this was a bluetooth earphone with a mic. I got this thinking it was just a stereo headset. These things work great when paired to my phone and making calls. The people on the other end of the call think I am actually talking directly on the phone. The funny thing is that the headphones block out so much noise (with out electronic manipulation) that I talk quietly and have to remind myslef to speak up so that I am not whispering. LOL

USE WITH COMPUTER The Freaks work great on the iMac. Great distance and sound quality. Used these for a few Google Voice calls and got the same results as I did with the phone. (You can hear the difference between VOIP and cell call.) As for music and movies, the sound was great. Took me a little while to get the sound EQ'd to my liking. (The Club app on the phone is awesome and gives you so many EQ options compared to the limited EQ with iTunes.) Please make a app for the Mac OSx that is like the iPhone app. Would use it all the time.

APPS I love the apps! There is a variety to download, but I stuck with the sport and club versions. The club is the best music app for EQ on a iPhone that I have seen yet. Works with other products too. The sport is still new to me at this point, but it tracks my excercise routine and not overbearing like some other apps are when you are out.

Overall, I love these little guys. Very happy and satisfied. Price is very competitive and given the quality of the build and sound it should cost more in my opinion (but I am not complaining!) Would totally suggest these to others and hopefully you find this review helpful. Might have to reconsider my big over the ear headphones for some new Denon's (looking at the AHD-600) based on these little Freaks!

Let's face it, she's attractive and you wanted to date her because of it.

Then you quickly found out she has all kinds of baggage that you wish she didn't have but you're willing to put up with it because she's really beautiful! But alas, there's just that one particular thing about her that no matter how hard you work on it you just can't get over it.

That would be the BLUETOOTH Connectivity issue others have stated before me. The Bluetooth connectivity is so unreliable that ANY OTHER Positive things I'd like to write about it is moot. (and there are quite a few actually)

It boggles my mind that a big and reputable company like Denon would release a product without thoroughly testing it (or they hired the wrong people to do it). The end result is lost BT connective from merely walking (NOT EVEN JUGGING!)

Are you reading this Denon? If you believe your own product then do the right thing then CONTACT US via Amazon and replace it with a newer model. For $149 Stay far, far away from this shoddy product. Caveat emptor. What a shame!

Aurum Cables 3.5mm Male to Female Audio Extension Cable 6ft

I am very experienced with audio, having owned many models of headphones priced under 300 and related equipment. I compared this cable with a couple lower quality cables and easily heard a clear difference. This one is 100% transparent, and I consider it to be VERY high quality comparable to more expensive cables that I've owned in the past. With high enough quality equipment (which most people own these days), most would easily hear and appreciate the difference this cable makes over a low quality cable. Don't buy a low quality cable or waste money on a more expensive one. This is the real deal. I bought it thanks to the positive reviews posted here. I highly recommend it.

This cable appeared to be of a good quality, thanks to that thick cable visible on the pictures... The reality is that the connectors are not ! I tried to plug 2 different headphones (Sony, Klipsch Image X10i) into it, one did not go in enough to produce any sound and the other one did not go in fully and only generated a mono sound ... I have immediately returned that cable. Look elsewhere for a quality cable !

This cable is made of superb quality. You can tell just by holding it.The shielding is thick, and heavy, plus it is all covered by a nice black nylon weave with a red stripe criss crossing around it, which makes for nice presentation. The connectors are 24k gold plated, and they SNAP on tight, with no wiggle. Most importantly however is that even with 6 Ft of length, audio signal is still great with absolutely no loss in quality, and this cable runs parallel with my coaxial and power cables. There is a white and black version of this with the white and black connector heads and white stripe too. 5 stars for blowing my expectations!

I've bought this item because I really liked in the photos, I mean the cable colors, also it looked like a high quality product in that plastic fancy package.

But let me tell you that the cable I received is not the same in the photos, the one i got is white, and it didn't came in that fancy plastic package, I'm really disappointed about fulfilled amazon products, it is the first time i got an item that is not as described in the website and I really hope it doesn't happen again.

Anyways the cable is working well, but still I'm not happy.

I was a little hesitant to pay $100 for this product, never having used one before, but as it turns out, the thing is completely great. I've been using this with an iPad and my solid-body electric harp (which works the same as an electric guitar) with excellent results. It's perfect for practicing late-night with headphones, and I've had great results recording via Garage Band. The free Ampli Tube app associated with the iRig is decent, too, but I prefer the output from Garage Band.

One of the concerns I had before purchasing this thing was that it might not be possible on the iPad to have the device running while switching between different applications. However, it is indeed possible to keep Ampli Tube or Garage Band running while you switch to other apps (i.e. forScore for sheet music, etc.).

If you're between this and the older, less expensive version that connects to your device via the headphone port, I'd definitely go with this one, as it would not be possible to use the old version simultaneously with headphones.

There are MANY cables to choose from to connect your cell phone to an AUX port in your car. A search in Amazon for "3.5 cables" returns a mind-boggling 374,640 results. How to winnow that down to a reasonable number, and then, how to choose one.

There are the obvious factors: it has to work. That means it should be shielded, and have solid contacts on both ends, preferably "gold-plated."

This cable easily satisfies all the technical concerns. It has full shielding to prevent cross-talk.

A thick coating makes it durable, but still flexible.

It has the required gold-plated contacts.

Personally, I like the blue color also as it makes it easier to find in the messy center console of my car.

The biggest issue for me was the length, 4ft instead of the more common 3ft. For some reason, Toyota located the AUX input in my Prius in the front of the center console, rather than the front of the radio where all the other controls are. Then, when I put my phone into a handy cradle (I like iOttie HLCRIO101 One Touch XL Windshield Dashboard Car Mount Holder for Galaxy S4/Galaxy) a 3ft cable barely reaches. I have to turn the phone into the horizontal position to make it fit. The extra foot makes a big difference.

I give the cable a full five stars as it does everything I could ask of it.

Note that there is a deal when you buy this cable in conjunction with the Yubi Power® YPCC-210B 2.1Amps, a very nice car charger.

Disclosure: this review was solicited by the seller, but they did not review the content.

Like others most of the other cables I've gotten have been mediocre at best they work fine for awhile but the thin wire cord gets tangled, begins to pull out of the connectors and before you know it you're missing a left or right channel.

This one wasn't really much more expensive but it's much better built and looks ready to hold up to a lot of use. The multiple lengths are helpful as well. I got the 4 foot cord. This is just right for me gives plenty of room to put the phone on the seat or have others select songs. If you want it to stretch to the back seat get the 6 foot one or longer. If you want less cord hanging from the stereo go with the shorter 2.5 feet (though you'll be very limited in how far you can move it)

I'd buy another in fact I might buy one for my wife's car too!

Since getting my car, I've used Bluetooth to connect to my vehicle to play my music from my phone. I did some reading around and heard that using an Auxiliary cable improves the quality of my music, while also being convenient. I honestly can't detect any improvement in sound quality, but it is convenient that I can just plug and play, versus turning on Bluetooth, tapping to sync to my car, then playing. The cable definitely feels and looks great, though I did notice you can twist the ends off, making them lose which I'm honestly not sure is supposed to happen, maybe loose glue or something? I'd give it 5 stars for working just as I wanted, except the possible quality issue.

I have been recording for 12 + years and have bought most of the interfaces in this price range....Digi 002, Mbox, Emu 0404, Centrance Mic Port Pro, Presonus Firebox....and out of all of the above the only one that played nice with Windows was the Centrance but it's only one mic channel for $150. The others had high latency, pops and clicks, crashes the Digi products being the absolute worst.

I'm a songwriter and wanted to focus more on creativity than tech support and troubleshooting and with this product, I have finally found the solution. I don't write reviews but was compelled to let people know how amazing this product is.

I'm using it with Reaper ($40) and the two combined cost $250 and it's the most rock solid setup I have used yet. Literally installed the drivers, loaded up a 24 track session with plugins, and pulled the buffer slider all the way to the left...with other products that's guaranteed to stutter, drop out, pop and click, etc

And it worked....not a hitch. I couldn't believe it. It ran 24 tracks of audio with three plugins on each track for 3 1/2 minutes flawlessly.

So I plugged in a guitar and tried the same thing no pops or clicks. I recorded it against a click and played on the 2 and 4 to see if it was synching up. Perfect synch.

I also ran the Centrance latency utility on it (Google the name, it's a free download) and it reported a latency of 3.48 ms with 167 samples. In Reaper, I manually adjusted for that offset in Preferences > Audio > Recording (even though it wasn't needed no noticeable latency) and now I'm recording and monitoring in 100% real time. It's unreal.

Not to mention this also comes with the Focusrite plugin suite not your average crappy freebie throw in, they are excellent sounding quality plugins that can be used in professional productions. And a full VSTi of the Novation Bass Station.

If you want a rock solid recording setup for PC they're practically giving this interface away. Midi hookup, two amazing mic preamps, versatile monitoring options, and it runs off of USB bus power...no wall wart!

You could have an amazing setup for $250 if you combine this with Reaper. I can't recommend this highly enough. Best audio quality I've had yet and unbelievable stability. My PC is an Acer laptop running Vista bought used for $400 no megacomputer here.

I used to use a PreSonus FIREBOX (4-in/10-out firewire interface) with my PowerBook G4; I lost the power supply and firewire bus power doesn't work with the newer laptops, so I was planning to buy the AudioBox by the same company. Instead I decided to try this one out. I haven't done a thorough comparison of the preamps, but already I like it a lot more:

* The knobs have a much more sensible layout, and unlike the knobs on the PreSonus they turn freely instead of in increments. This is a big deal for the headphone output; my earbuds get very loud so I'm usually making fine adjustments. With the FIREBOX I basically had "a little too loud" and "almost too quiet" because of the way the increments were chosen.

* Everything feels durable. It's a little bigger than the FIREBOX, but not much heavier.

* There's a simple knob on the front to mix direct input with output from the computer; with the FIREBOX you have to use their mixer software to get this functionality.

* There are LEDs next to each input that show the input level; the FIREBOX has an LED that shows when it's clipping, but that's not nearly as useful by itself.

* The bus power is very convenient, there's no extra power supply to lose or break

* My setup is far from ideal, but from what I can tell the sound quality is flawless.

There's only one thing that bugs me: I have the outputs going directly to my speakers, and every time I plug the Saffire unit into the computer it makes a popping noise. When I unplug it it makes an even louder noise. I don't remember the FIREBOX ever doing that.

First, let me say that before purchasing this box I looked at and considered MANY other brands and models. M-Audio, Lexicon, Presonus, Tascam, E-Mu, DigiDesign, etc. My main criteria was that I wanted a box that was dependable, easy to setup and use, has two XLR / instrument inputs as well as a midi in and out jack. It's amazing how many of these boxes have no midi inputs but we all have different needs.

The professional studio, of which I'm a partner in, owns several pieces of Focusrite RED equipment. The RED line is fairly expensive, completely hand-built and kicks serious butt. So when I saw the Focusrite name it brought my immediate interest. No, it's not hand built but it's also not expensive. A respected brand earns that reputation and seeks to maintain or excel in their market position.

Before attempting to load the software from the enclosed disc, visit the Focusrite site and download their newest Saffire 6 USB software. In fact I wouldn't bother opening the software disc that comes in the box. The first time I installed it was on an older Mac G5Power PC running Leopard 10.5.8. When I turned it on everything was momentarily fine. Then, everything that was plugged into the box came out distorted and down about 3 semitones. I then tried installing it in a newer Intel iMac, again with 10.5.8. The results were crystal clear sound. I then tried installing it on a third iMac very similar to the 2nd one I mentioned. Again beautiful, quiet, clear sound burst forth. I'm still trying to find out what happened with the first install but at this time I choose to view the problem as an older computer, not the Saffire box.

I'll update my post as I attempt to suss out the problem with the older Mac.

UPDATE I believe the older Mac / software was the issue. This box has been running fine on my newer iMac's. Terrific piece of equipment.

Let me preface this review by saying that in the last month and a half I've had to return an Alesis MultiMix8 USB and a Mackie PROFx8 due to electronics defects.I swore by those brands, but after these recent fiascoes I no longer see them as trustworthy PRO gear -at least not for the entry level product lines. Focusrites weren't even on my top-5 list.

Now, as for this product, I am literally flabbergasted. Amazing, noise-less, clean, smooth mic inputs. My AT2020 condenser mic (phantom powered) comes through beautiful and wispy. Zero noise. I mean that: zero pre-amp noise (which was a HUGE problem with both the Alesis and the Mackie). Voices come pristine and fresh ready for mixing/mastering. Mic pad switch works wonders if you have someone with strong spikes or overall big voices.

Instrument Hi-Z input, again, amazing. Distortionless, noiseless and smooth. Tried both a keyboard and a guitar. Both went through superbly.

Headphones and monitor outputs work as promised. Nothing to complain about.

MIDI: I'm currently testing this function and will update this review once I finish testing.

A nice little feature is the fader to have input or playback to the monitors/headphones. Comes pretty handy if you are overdubbing.

Latency: now this is the heart of any self-respecting ADC/DAC interface. I personally found the latency to be, by all intents and purposes, damn close to zero. I was able to overdub about 8 concurrent tracks with no problems whatsoever.

I cannot comment on the software provided since I have only installed the driver to make it work under both Win7 32 and 64 bit since I already have Reaper, Cubase and Audacity install which is all I need for my recordings right now.

In short, Focusrite got this right -period. They "nailed it". If and when it's time to grow my studio you can be sure Focusrite will be the first brand I'm going to be looking at. If you are looking for a solid, inexpensive, pro-quality interface, honestly, don't waste your time looking for more features at this price range. This is one is unbeatable at this price.

Here's the short version: This Saffire 6 is awesome IF your computer is so old it only has USB 1.1 instead of USB 2 or USB 3. If your computer has USB 2 or USB 3, there's a good chance you will have driver issues and USB recognition issues that will cause unacceptable latency.

Solution: Get Focusrite's newer Scarlett series instead, it works great:

http://www.amazon.com/Focusrite-Scarlett-Interface-Featuring-Preamps/dp/B004W6KR7E/

Unless you only have USB 1.1 on your computer, I don't believe there's any reason to buy this legacy interface instead of their newer Scarlett series. The end.

Here's the long version: This Saffire 6 didn't work on my PC and didn't work on either of 2 brand-new laptops I purchased and then returned, believing it was the laptops' fault instead of the Saffire 6.

The problem: From what I've seen, most PCs/laptops don't have their USB devices connected directly to the USB root. Under device manager, they look like this:

USB Root / Generic Hub / USB Device

USB Root / UMBus Numerator / USB Device

...If your computer connects something like the above, you'll have driver problems with the Saffire 6, latency popping, etc. And even if your current computer doesn't have the above issue of not connecting directly to the USB root, what about your next computer? Just get the newer Scarlett and you won't have to worry about it. Get a Scarlett.

I actually bought a pair of these at a local big-box just to try out. Figured I couldn't go too wrong for 20 bucks. Turns out they are quite comfortable to wear for long periods (I have an hour bus ride each day) and have good sound. We're not talking Sennheiser but we are also talking sound over bluetooth, not wired. For value, sound and comfort, I give these things an overall 5. I'm buying others for the family, color coded of course.

Works great as a replacement for the original cable but it didn't last very long. The wire came loose during uses.
